Minnesota native here - despite this video being four years old now this is SHOCKINGLY accurate. You got a new subscriber!! Though one thing I've heard is everyone who comes from out of state say that it's really hard to make friends here because everyone sticks to the hometown they grew up with and stays friends with the same friend group from middle/high school. That *can* be true and I used to be that way, I did stay friends with my same friend group from middle/high school but then I moved away from my hometown of Orono back to Minneapolis and got involved in the roller skating and circus arts community. I made a whole new batch of friends and many of them are out-of-state transplants. So if you want to make friends in Minnesota, you HAVE TO have a hobby that you do regularly to meet people. The good thing is - there is strong community in Minneapolis/Twin Cities and if you get involved in a club or activity you can make REALLY great lasting friendships. And people in Minnesota are extremely welcoming to transplants unlike many other states. Also, we don't say "eh" but the "o" accent is absolutely a thing (listen to a Minnesotan say "coat" or "road" or "boat") and whenever I travel people instantly know I'm from Minnesota even though I don't think my accent is that bad 😅
I love all areas of Minnesota, and all 4 seasons. I enjoy the cultural diversity, not your stereo types. There is always humor in extremes and you can find them here. This is a beautiful place to live.
I've lived here most of my life and I gotta say this is mostly accurate especially that HOTDISH! As far as things to do, Minnesota is uniquely full of things to do. Unique as in you just have to go out and make your adventure rather than find it on a brochure or an ad on TV.
Lefse is awesome! It’s a Scandinavian treat made from potatoes, flour, butter, salt and sometimes cream. We will top it with butter, cinnamon and sugar and sometimes jam. It’s hard to stop eating. I lived in Minnesota for 4 loooong years. I was dragged there kicking and screaming in my junior year of high school. My Father was transferred by his corporate masters to Eden Prairie. It was the worst experience of my life. The summers, however, were great. All three weeks of them. Otherwise, it was a living hell. I used to pass the winters by joining the slack jawed snowbillys as we drank too much and stared at a hole in the ice. My Dad bought a Kickass, Yamaha snow machine as an appeasement gesture, but then it didnt really snow for the next two years. Got the hell out of there in 1990. I can still remember the dirty snowbanks on the side of the road as I drove out of town in APRIL.
At least you have a positive attitude about the place to some extent. I myself find this place insufferable no matter what time of year. 6 months of ice, blizzards, -40 wind chills and darkness followed by another 6 of hellish humidity, vicious hordes of insects and violent storms...but the booze flows and you can drink yourself into a stupor while you sit in front of a hole in the ice and listen to lectures about sports and jesus...but I digress.

As a Minnesotan I recommend if you do move here do not move to the metro area. Since May 2020 crime there has been rampant and a good proportion of the police force has quit. Shops in Minneapolis are being robbed in broad daylight. It's become so bad shops that can afford it have hired private security. A lot of companies are leaving the metro area which means jobs. Basically at this point I recommend sticking to places outside the metro such as Stillwater, Duluth and Northfield are some of the best places to go.
Yes, it's really sad. I haven't been to "the Cities" in over a year now... and have no desire to visit anytime soon. Car-jackings and shootings are occurring daily and there's still an autonomous zone around the intersection where the riots began. The city council, mayor and governor have really let down the people of Minneapolis.

Lake Itasca is where you can cross the Mississippi river on step stones.
Exactly, i go there alot
I went there once on a school trip, I was too scared to cross cause I didn’t wanna get wet and it was still cold out lol
@@spice_cake yea, the stones are very slippery due to it being wet.
I've lived here most of my life and I gotta say this is mostly accurate especially that HOTDISH! As far as things to do, Minnesota is uniquely full of things to do. Unique as in you just have to go out and make your adventure rather than find it on a brochure or an ad on TV.
I used to live in Minneapolis. I love the city’s layout. It’s a great city. It’s a great place to visit in the summer
Lefse is awesome! It’s a Scandinavian treat made from potatoes, flour, butter, salt and sometimes cream. We will top it with butter, cinnamon and sugar and sometimes jam. It’s hard to stop eating. But being too cold to snow is legit!
Where do you think you'll move to? Or did you make your move? I'm in the same boat. I really want to get out if where I am. I did just take up a new job tho 🤣🤣 planning on saving up for a year or two and getting OUT!

“Maybe bec they’re Lutherans” as a Lutheran I can confirm, also this is probably my favorite state!
This is what I laughed the hardest about. I'm also a Lutheran from Minnesota.
So interesting that you minnesotans are still Lutherans.
We Scandinavians are also Lutherans, just by tradition though, as we don't go to church unless it's Christmas or someone's wedding or comformation/babtism. The churches struggles to get their benches filled, as we have become less and less christian throughout the years.

Sounds like the way they talk around Alexandria (or "Alex" as they call it). A LOT of Germans around there. They probably had to send out a separate phone book just for all the names that start with "Sch," (Schmidt, Schneider, Schwinghammer, Schaefer, Schultz...).

"Cake Eaters" a phrase coined in 1975 by my HS class. Any ways "Cake Eaters" go into the heated garage attached to the house. Drive to the heated garage beneath the building where their office is. Hi Nick, I live in a town that I used to call a dead hick town...the type of place you can’t wait to get out of - when I was a young adult. Well now we do have zero covid-19 cases, so there are some good things after all. But with the snow and weather up here in Saskatchewan, I wanted to hang out somewhere like in California where my sister lived. Seems like heaven...a safe, drug-free, quiet, and peaceful place... especially since your other video said everyone is leaving California...lol

Hi!
Probably an honest review my man Nick
Probably
I live in Minnesota and I think this video sum my home state up somewhat.

Yeah for the most part there are some things I wish he also would’ve talked about and I few things I disagree with but otherwise it sums it up pretty good
