I guess you can live in Minnesota but don’t know shit, DRUNK Indians are not only confined to that tiny box sadly we live in all areas of the state. Also we’re not all drunks. Sorry to disappoint those who still believe that stereotype. Way to go Nick Johnson you gave a great high schoolers version of Minnesota…aye! 😂😂 I’ve never met a Minnesotan who says aye at the end of their sentences. I will not be subscribing not even a thumbs down of support.

I’ve lived in Minnesota all my life and love it. I love winter, the North Shore, our many, many parks and trail systems for hiking, biking and snowshoeing, the friendly people, the wholesomeness, the entertainment, the beautiful woods and many lakes, and on and on. We always rank at the top for education, being the healthiest state, and the state that boasts the most volunteers. We have pro sport teams, and a bustling pair of large cities seven miles apart that offer a lot for arts and music. To say “there’s not a lot to do around there” is way off base.

I visited Minnesota earlier this year (away from MSP) and it blew my expectations out of the water! Duluth is an underrated small city with a lot to offer and the North Shore reminded me of the Pacific Coast of Washington (where I grew up) with its beautiful natural landscapes, evergreen forests and access to open water.

I'm impressed you knew about the differing lake definitions between MN and WI. Minnesotans have long been a little annoyed that WI claims to have more lakes. Every time it rains in WI the number of lakes goes up since they count every puddle.
Vikings fans are a bit offended that Packers fans hate the Bears more than the Vikes.
As many have mentioned, "eh" is more of a Canadian thing, although it might bleed over a bit in northern MN, kind of like how Canadians love to fill MN with their coins. I think it's safe to say that nearly all Minnesotans have, at some time, tried to buy a "pop" from a vending machine and have it keep rejecting one of the coins... only to find out it's a crappy Canadian quarter (with a hockey player on it).

In regards to 'Minnesota nice', it does have some basis. It is very common in Minnesota that someone will let you go ahead of them in a food line. They will ask 'is that all you have', and if you say yes, they will let you ahead of them. This probably happens 50 percent or more of the time if your waiting in line with just a couple items. Also, there are many things put on the side of a road with a 'free' sign. Some people really do take 'Minnesota nice' to heart. I find it is the polar opposite of Florida where I came from.

Minnesota native here - despite this video being four years old now this is SHOCKINGLY accurate. You got a new subscriber!! Though one thing I've heard is everyone who comes from out of state say that it's really hard to make friends here because everyone sticks to the hometown they grew up with and stays friends with the same friend group from middle/high school.
That *can* be true and I used to be that way, I did stay friends with my same friend group from middle/high school but then I moved away from my hometown of Orono back to Minneapolis and got involved in the roller skating and circus arts community. I made a whole new batch of friends and many of them are out-of-state transplants. So if you want to make friends in Minnesota, you HAVE TO have a hobby that you do regularly to meet people. The good thing is - there is strong community in Minneapolis/Twin Cities and if you get involved in a club or activity you can make REALLY great lasting friendships. And people in Minnesota are extremely welcoming to transplants unlike many other states. Also, we don't say "eh" but the "o" accent is absolutely a thing (listen to a Minnesotan say "coat" or "road" or "boat") and whenever I travel people instantly know I'm from Minnesota even though I don't think my accent is that bad 😅

"Cake Eaters" a phrase coined in 1975 by my HS class. Any ways "Cake Eaters" go into the heated garage attached to the house. Drive to the heated garage beneath the building where their office is. The Twin Cities has a complex network of heated skyways that connects the second floors of buildings. This keeps the cake eaters from ever experiencing the horrors of sub zero temperatures.

Shops in Minneapolis are being robbed in broad daylight. It's become so bad shops that can afford it have hired private security. A lot of companies are leaving the metro area which means jobs. Basically at this point I recommend sticking to places outside the metro such as Stillwater, Duluth and Northfield are some of the best places to go.

This video is maybe about 92% accurate. Minnesota is great if you like winter to last nine months of the year and mosquito season for the other three. The governor is a tyrant, Minneapolis has been utterly laid to waste, not everyone enjoys freezing their asses off and ice fishing is an extremely boring way to freeze... Also for the record there are about 10,000 different varieties of hotdish, and why the hell wouldn’t you have a Crockpot? Everyone should have a Crockpot. They’re essential for your chili cookoff at work, if those ever become a thing again (pending a post-COVID reality).

This cracked me up! I can’t stand our governor. And he’s still a tyrant and now has Covid. Couldn’t have happened to a better guy. I can’t wait to move. This state is old news and over rated on almost every level and I’ve been here 44 years.

The closer you live near the Twin Cities, the less 'Minnesota' you get.
I also can't tell if "Minnesota Nice" exists. I think it's in old people who live here.
Accents don't exist down here near the Twin Cities. Idk if accents exist outside of it though.
20 degrees fahrenheit is considered cold to us.
We have the best female hockey and basketball players.
Nobody here knows about Bob Dylan unless you're from Duluth and not everybody knew about Prince until after his death.
    We aren't Canadians.
If you to live here, do plan to shovel a lot in the winter. It isn't a joke.

Klēfer I didn’t think Minnesota Nice existed until I went to college in Massachusetts. When I come home I immediately notice that we are abnormally smiley and friendly to each other and I find it so cute! In MN it’s socially acceptable (common courtesy even, in small towns) to smile at everyone, strike up conversations with strangers, and offer favors without being asked, which is considered creepy on the East Coast. We’re also the most charitable state!

Well for not being from Minnesota you did a really good job. I spent my younger days in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Everybody I knew call the twin cities "the Cities". You did your research pretty good. Bob Dyaln is from the iron range and the mosquitoes and black flies are unreal. I used to have to go in the house about an hour before dark because of that. I'm more defensive for Wisconsin why I don't know. Oh and when I was in my late teens I worked all the time and didn't have a tv or listen to radio so on my weekend part time job when I live in Rochester I delivered pizza and one night on my way home I had one more delivery to make at one of the hotels and when I got there I didn't have the guys last name only that he was a prince I was hoping he was the only prince there at that hotel because we had people come from all over the world come there for the Mayo clinic Well I got the 7 or 8 pizzas delivered and talked to the guy for about a half an hour. He was very nice About 2 months later I seen him on TV while at my friends house and that's when I found out he was Prince.

The jobs in the small towns don't pay much, think minimum wage here. So many people have to drive to the "twin cities " in the effort to make enough money to live in the small towns. You have to make the choice, be honest with yourself. Live the rural life and spend hours on the road, or learn to live without much money.
