I have found that by the time I'm finished picking up all the clutter and putting everything away I've lost my motivation to actually clean (remove dirt and grime). So, I am working very hard to declutter and reduce the inventory in our house. Then we'll work on developing our cleaning muscles! 😂 Since the school year began in September I have donated 17 bags of stuff + a few large decor items. Once I made going by the donation center part of my weekly grocery shopping routine things really began flying out of here!
@@MinimalistHome I watch you, The Minimal Mom, and a couple of others from the Mega Motivation playlist. When I'm tempted to stop, I watch a video to be reminded that I want a simple home and it IS possible to achieve. ♥
@Joel and Stephanie G I loved this idea!! I started decluttering in March 2021, then stopped. I recently started back up because I have such a long way to go and only action will solve the problem! This time I started making and posting decluttering videos, it really helps me to get started and holds me accountable as I imagine my "audience". lol Plus it makes me have to make quicker decisions since I know the camera is rolling!! LOL I recently made a video and the first 9 minutes of the video was me loading up my entire back seat with donations that I had been procrastinating taking to drop off!! 😫😲😫 It was exhausting! Lol But it felt so good to get it done and get the stuff out of my garage, out of my life, and get the "drop off donations" removed from my "silent to do list" as Dawn the Minimal Mom says! A weekly or monthly planned donation drop off is genius! Thank you for sharing! Happy decluttering!
I’m exactly you at the beginning with two less kids! I’m a rural shift working nurse, one little and lots of cats. House is driving me insane, i shout at my family who are also very untidy. I spent my morning off before my nights moving stuff around and ran out of time to clean before I had to go to bed to work tonight. You have such great ideas. I’m hoping to summon up enthusiasm soon to get rid of 80% of our stuff. I want to do things on my days off not fall over and move piles around.
Yes, this! I just started decluttering last week and I am already noticing a huge difference. I can actually clean without having to move clutter around, and it was so much faster . I still have a long way to go but I really appreciate all of your videos!
Thanks Francesca! I like it for floor space. There are 5 of us and 4 of them are men! haha! I used to think I had to have it full, but now It's half empty!
I’ve been focusing on minimizing for about 4 months. I find that the first time I tackle a new area I do some decluttering and some organizing. I then have to do a second round and declutter what I just organized. It’s not the most efficient method but seems to be what’s working for me. Thanks for helping to keep me focused on my long-term goal!
I totally agree about the cleaning up before the cleaning person comes. It took me a whole day! This week, I was very proud because it took me five minutes to tidy up before our tile man came to look at our floors. We also had an insurance agent do a virtual tour of our house and take pictures. I didn’t stress, because the house was tidy. The decluttering really helped A LOT! I just had to put some cookbooks away. I think my husband just straighten some papers on his coffee table. I can’t get him to put it anywhere else
I also think your artwork is beautiful. The worst thing I deal with these days (after getting to a manageable amount of things in the house) is dust. What is up with the dust? On a side note, I've never been much of a tea drinker but when you mentioned chocolate tea in a previous video my ears perked up. I ordered some teas from David's Tea and let them know who sent me. :-) I had the 9 berries today. Wow....very yum. I'm looking forward to trying the others that I ordered. Good addition to the Hygge for this winter.
I hope all is well with your power and the weather out there! Heard there are power outages & flooding on the east side of the island. Love your channel!! From Ontario :)
Hey!! Actually, somehow we managed only one second without power...wow! Just enough to reset the oven and microwave, but I am OK with that! Thanks for watching!
My main floor is clean all the time. I love it. Upstairs where the kids reside...that's another story! Yikes! The basement? Well...we're not down there much, so it isn't messy perse...but I could definitely dust more often! lol
When I moved to the US (from England a long time ago) I realized that Americans interchange the words "Tidy" and "Clean". Tidy means "To put things a way or put things in order". Clean means to "remove dirty, wipe or wash". I noticed that you interchange these words a lot! :)
haha, well, I kind of see it both ways. I use tidy as things put away, but you can't clean unless it's tidy (in my opinion) otherwise you're moving stuff around! I bet I do mix the words up too though, haha
There are some days when cleaning is the last thing you want to do but it’s definitely worth it in the end
Absolutely Demetri!! Thanks for watching
The hardest part is getting started

Hello - I really like your videos. They're very practical.
Hey!! Thanks so much! That's a very nice thing to read!
How long did it take you to declutter your whole house?
Well, we I only declutter 30 minutes at a time, but if I'm guessing, I'd say a few months. I still declutter sometimes too!
❤️❤️❤️
