    Thanks to both of you for the interview. I have learned a lot from it. The unknown plant is called "Roukou" in my country, Haiti. We used this plant for cooking, we extract the reddish color of the plant and put it in any dish made out of meat in sauce like using tomatoes paste when cooking.

    I knew from dr Barrie Tan accent that he is Malaysian, as I am too. The prevention of stroke lies in tocotrienols!

    This was a knock-out interview, Richard! Dr. Tan is a creative scientist who has brought tocotrienols to the world’s attention. I use this to help reduce fibrosis from radiation damage. I am looking forward to the next episodes.

      How's your fibrosis now?

    • @msplateaugal
      @msplateaugal 7 місяців тому

      @@RK-ld5cu Using Tocopherol (1000 mg per day) and Pentoxifylline (400 mg twice a day) for several years has led to a reduction in fibrosis of my throat which had been slowly growing for decades. I do not know yet if Tocotrienol will be even better than Tocopheraol for controlling inflammation. (Pentoxifylline makes the blood more slippery so it can work its way around fibrosis.) I do not need periodic balloon treatments to keep my throat open. For those who start soon after radiation, the fibrosis may melt entirely. A reference for this is the work of Sylvie Delanian. Search for Delanian and PENTOCLO. She adds Clodronate for those with osteoradionecrosis. I see now that one can find numerous clinics prescribing PENTOCLO, for example the Cleveland Clinic. Others are looking at applications of PENTOCLO without Clodronate to reduce fibrosis elsewhere in the body.

    Can't wait for ep 2! I hope Dr Tan answers the question:
    As a fat soluble antioxidant, do tocotrienols interfere with the antioxidant and growth stimulatory effects of exercise?
    Also, how much vitamin e is in annato, and is it all types of annato? I actually love the way that culinary annato tastes. The funny thing about it is that it can change color rapidly when heated beyond a certain limit, and then it becomes 'toxic' somehow.
    Finally, I wonder if he has any brands of rice bran oil to recommend? Unfortunately, since heavy metals get concentrated in the bran, I recall that many tested rice bran oils have high amounts of these (arsenic, cadmium, lead, etc) and suffice to say I'd rather have old looking skin than a screwed up nervous system.

    Thank you Richard and Barrie for the very interesting information - wow. I would like to know more...where can we find extract from this plant - is it easily gently minimally processed to retain the maximum ingredients? Talk about Foundational building blocks. 1 of many but 1 important keystone that was previously unknown to the public. Thank you for your steadfast determination.

      Hi Steve, thanks for your questions. Dr Tan's book provides some more information, you can download it for free from the link in the description. He also talked about the process that he used to extract the tocotrienol saying that it was physical only and not chemical. You can see a summary here americanrivernutrition.com/annatto/

    Very interesting as usual. I didn’t know there is several forms of vitamin E and you actually need to pair it ? Would this form and pairing explain why taking too much of it is not beneficial ?

    • @ModernHealthspan
      @ModernHealthspan  Рік тому

      Hi Bernhard, thanks for your question. Until I did the research and spoke with Dr Tan, I also did not understand the different forms of Vit E. From his book and talking to him, I think he says that the various forms can interfere with each other and recommends that you only take tocotrienol as a supplement. Diet will provide some tocopherol but at its normal concentration it will not interfere with the tocotrienol absorption.

      If only it were that simple. There are tocotrienols and tocopherols, and each of those have 4 components, alpha, beta, delta and gamma. Some inhibit the others, he isolated what works the best. I suggest you read more of the research.
