Even the youngest classic British parallel twin is at least 35 years old so wear and tear is inevitable. Classic Bike magazine Technical Editor and lifelong British bike fettler Rick P takes a trip to SRM Engineering in Wales to observe a BSA A65 engine strip and to find out how its problems can be resolved.

I cannot speak highly enough of SRM: I've had several jobs done by them, from cylinder rebores, complete head refurbishments, balancing, etc. and the quality is absolutely world class, flawless.
I love this company and will always keep going back to them when I need something done.
Thank you Rick and CB for giving us a peak into the operations.

That clutch plate is an absolute 'must', fantastic bit of kit.

SRM, that reminds me of a time many years ago when i took one of the founders and his girlfriend back to Penarth from London with, if I remember right, a BSA single 500 that had broken down. Happy days, i seem to remember being fairly impressed with their set up even back then.

Was watching it expecting to see the results and instead was a big tease. Great to see SRM! Bought many parts for my A10 SR from there. Just wish it would be easy to ship heavy items like the whole engine, crankshaft or gearbox there from US. Not to mention exchange rates. One day will do though

Good video. I would suggest that it would be much better if the camera was closer to the parts . A picture is better than a thousand words.

Fitted the SRM clutch kit to my A10, best money I ever spent on it.

I had a roller bearing job done on my A65 and resulted in to much weld that interfered with the Boyer electric , stopping the plastic disc from fully rotating , ie bike would start every kick then stop , Took a bit of finding and sorting out , I did message SRM about the problem but never got a reply ?

Do these guys fill the crank with oil before they balance it? I have never heard of anyone who does this and I’ve always wondered why not just curious.
