Fair play. There is nothing better than having events and competition to achieving your goals. It makes complete sense to me. Fair play to you and the best of luck, but most importantly... enjoy your preparation. You have genuinely given me some inspiration myself towards my own goals watching this vid.
Going to watch this in full tomorrow. Just want to get the intro with the time I had today. Awesome that you are out there competing. It doesn't matter at what level. It is about being out with your community and being present in the moment and putting it out there. Respect Sir. More to follow when I finish the video.
bugger the dudes on the ramp with the dog poo dlsr cameras that dont wanna shoot you man, thats some classic gate keeper nonsense, at 35 im so over seeing that nonsense, you killed it man, we dont have these comps in Australia and i wish we did. but i honestly don't know if id have the balls to even drop in to that, you bloody killed it mate, mad love. (id like to see those fo-photographers try that monster ramp. you did heaps well man, truly.
Ah thanks mate 👊, I'm not so bothered about whether bystanders are interested or not, for me its always a personal battle and to have the opportunity to throw myself into the lions den was enough. I'm glad there wasnt a minimum trick standard to enter at least 😄 Its an interesting thing you noted about the photographers though, at the UK vert series we have some photographers Stu Bennett , Ted Cunningham and more who take shots of everyone and they come out looking awesome no matter what the skill level of the rider, its impossible to put into words how stoked each person is to find they've been photographed. So you are right it does definitley do more for your soul than perhaps some may realise. its ok anyway, everyone loves an underdog 😉 and my friends cheering me on was the best support i could have asked for.
Good on you man. I'm at a similar level of skating (haven't managed a rock n roll on vert yet, so a bit behind), and I always chicken out of entering our local comps and end up sitting in the bleachers by myself when everybody I know is in the skaters area. One day I'll pluck up the courage to fill in the entry form and come last. Somebody's got to come last right?
Thanks 👍🏻 I would say just do it regardless of what level you are at you have room to improve the next time and that’s enough incentive to keep doing it. I skated way worse in this comp than I have in many others I’ve entered but I only had a couple of runs on this ramp before the comp so to ever get one trick was a surprise to me and I went away happy.
Perhaps 🤔 I decided to do it as part of my skating which made me go through with it. You have to really want it in order to convince your mind to do it and not just give up. I really wanted to skate so it forced the issue into action. Walking on cliff top pathways just made me scared and not want to continue.
My favourite video of yours. You can feel the passion & it makes it very engaging.
Thank you, I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it !
Big up your self you held your own. That takes balls to fly to another country enter a comp and hold your nerves. 🔥
Thank you 😊 👍🏻👊🏼

I'm also scared of heights, I wonder if a bit of exposure therapy outside of skating might help?
