I hear you about moving gear. I have a summit climber now. If you are hunting close to the road, say within half a mile, it's not bad. But I'm hunting right now in a spot 1.5 miles 85% downhill over the side of a mountain in PA. I set my climber up in there and left it to go back to. It would be so nice having a truly mobile and lightweight set up like a saddle that I could easily move around in and just take out with me. Plus it wouldn't be so loud. This winter I'll be getting a saddle and practicing to be proficient with it for next season. Thanks for the great video!
I know exactly what you’re talking about! One of my spots here is three miles from the road and the idea of dragging a climber in and out of there just seems too much. Having the saddle has been a blessing this season! I’ve moved my setup a few times and my last hunt I think I finally got the buck I’m targeting figured out. My wife had hunted with me a few times and she’s using my old climber, I’ve been setting it up and taking it down for her and I don’t miss it at all 😂. I’m all about the saddle right now. Best of luck with your season and feel free to ask me any questions you’ve got! I’m happy to help however I can. I appreciate you watching and commenting!
Have you thought about going to more of a 1 stick method? I started like you did with a basic setup but quickly realized I didn't like going through extra steps and using more ropes than needed. I went to a platform/stick combo and a rope mod to allow for easy on and off transitions, stopped using lineman's ropes all together, and my rappel rope is my attachment point for my bridge while hunting along with getting out of the stand. I still use sticks all the way up at times when my kids hunt with me but they carry the stand I just carry the sticks and my platform. Your sticks can all get switched to rope mods which will make it faster getting up and down, as well as reducing weight and noise. I wouldn't recommend going rope mod with that particular platform because I found it hard to keep the tension right and the platform's post would come away from the tree a little. Those pull straps work best for that type of platform in my experience.
I found one sticking after I got this and I want to keep giving this a try for the time being. I’ve seen some one stick setups and it seems slick but I want to give this a full effort before then. The idea of being able to go any height you want is super intriguing though. There’s been a sit or two this season where I’ve found myself wishing I could go up a little more. Of course I left a stick at home both of those times lol. The rope mod is something I absolutely want to try. I’ve never really liked the straps on any setup I’ve ever used. I keep seeing amsteel as the way to go, anything you recommend for a rope mod?
@@endurhunt7680 I run a BIG B.O.B. One-Stick with a 3 step aider on it. I got a camo tool roll and ziptied it to the bottom of the first step and when I am done I roll up the 3 step aider into that tool roll as well as store any other stand specific items in the zipper pockets. When I ditched the extra steps at first I was a little slower but after adding the 3 step aider I can get up the tree as fast or faster and I am carrying less. I would just be careful running rope mods on the platform depending on the type of stand. Those ones with the platform low and the stick goes above the stand don't seem to work well with rope mods. With the Big B.O.B. you climb up without camming the top platform down so it is easier to move up. When you get to your height you toe hook that thing and it is never going to move no matter what attachment method. For the cost that BIG B.O.B. + a mondo XOP saddle would just about cover the whole setup.
I’ve seen videos with the BIG B.O.B. I just didn’t realize the name! It seems pretty legit and honestly the cost isn’t that bad. Everything really does go down into one system. I’ve seen other guys do a platform and a stick modified with aiders. I was considering trying that before I buy anything else. I’m going to strongly consider this after the season. I want to see how much I really like saddle hunting, but so far I think this is the way forward. Thanks for the tips and advice!
@@endurhunt7680 The one thing I realized after my first saddle season is how hard it is to gun hunt from. Seems counter intuitive but you aren't as stable with a gun as you are with a bow. So I created a shooting arm out of a left over climbing stick but I haven't got to use it yet. I used a ring of steps for a shooting rest the first year but I needed more flexibility. I really prefer to bow hunt but around here once bullets start flying archery hunting is near impossible.
I swore I responded to this but I guess I didn’t save it or something… I’ve thought a lot about gun hunting. With muzzy season coming up I really want to try it but don’t know what would be best. Maybe something with a monopod instead of a walking stick.
It’s two carabiners. So there are loops on each end of the saddle that the bridge goes into. One end of the bridge had a carabiner through a prusik knot so I can adjust the bridge length. To connect the tether to the bridge I have another prusik knot on the tether with a carabiner and I attach that directly to the bridge rope. I hope that helps! I’ll upload a short and Instagram reel showing it when I get back home. It’ll be a few days but I’ll put something out there when I get back. If you have more questions shoot me a dm on Instagram, I’m @endurhunt and would be happy to go over more!

How do you setup the bridge? I seen you click the tether to the bridge but how is your bridge clicked to the saddle

What questions do you have about saddle hunting or the XOP Full Rut system?
What kind of bungees do you use. They seem very helpful
