@synamo1531 Stuck on minimum, wage, massively overweight, depression and hooked on gaming, weed, cigarettes, alcohol, fast food and sugar. Thank god I'm free of all.
This is all much, much appreciated brother. Sometimes I just love listening/watching videos to just keep my head on straight and keep me going. They don’t all have to be about how to do something but just a lesson on keeping your head up and to stay on the path. Loving the content man, keep it up! Cheers
Ah thanks man what a compliment. Honestly I’m still in my beginner stage on UA-cam. I’ve tried so many different styles, formats and niches. Still just experimenting. Gonna start a weekly vlog soon that is a bit more bts alongside a weekly video on a specific topic
Real talk. Thanks for this Ben. I'm in the situation where I've got two websites to launch... but tiredness from my 9-5 sets in when I get home. So like you said, I kinda need to look at what I'm doing, manifest and *lock in*. Top man, keep doing your thing.
Can you go to bed earlier and do it the morning? I found this far easier than working at night. I know the feeling of finishing work, eating dinner and then not wanting to do anything at all. I found applying a similar principle to the just read 10 pages worked for me in the evening.
love it man. love your natural style of making these videos, i just realized you dont put captions inside the video, and its totally fine. great stuff. time blocking, ACTUALLY time blocking. I will do that. cheers mate
Great video man. Gaming has taken over my life. It has been since I was a teenager, especially the competitive games like Rainbow Six. Absolutely love the eSports scene but I must say I still play it pretty much every night. I need to change tbh and this video has definitely called me out to do so. I do lack motivation sometimes or I can't sit still or focus. That's when it gets hard. Especially when clients aren't responding to emails :/ but I know I have to keep my head up, and it is all part of the process. Great video.
Haha sorry for calling you out. I was the same tbh, I couldn’t stop myself from gaming for 4-5 hours in the evening then I slowly reduced it by being stricter with myself and then eventually the craving to game completely disappeared
In regards to having the thing on the calendar. I like to think of it as an opt out appointment. It needs to be on the calendar and if life gets in the way I can opt out. But it needs to be on the calendar.
That’s a great with of looking at it. I’m always like, if it’s in the calendar, there’s a 70% chance I’ll do it, if it’s not, probably like 30%. So I may as well put it in the calendar.
Dear Ben, thank you for another great video! I have a very small channel and you've inspired me to keep going when I'm failing to find motivation. I just have some random thoughts from watching your videos thought I would just leave it here... by no means they are any criticisms! I know you have recently settled on this niche of the 'insight of a creator' and you've been really committed to this niche. From an audience perspective and this of course only represent myself: I feel the MOST inspired and moved when you talk about your mental journey and struggles as a content creator instead of the 'skills' or 'knowledge' aspect of things. There are a lot of similar content out there that are more in-depth (no offence!) but VERY few on the inner struggles of a content creator, especially expressed to a degree of such authenticity and vulnerability to your videos. Therefore, I've came to the conclusion that if you dedicate on growing such a sub-niche on the mental health of content creators (dealing with stress-management, anticipation for results, expectation-management, loneliness, self-esteem issues, insecurity about the content you produce, insecurity about giving up a full-time job, etc, etc), I will then be watching your videos RELIGIOUSLY. These feelings are so real and deeply present in every content creator's mind. The thing is: You've experienced it all! You've truly came from the bottom of it all, having gone through multiple niches (video games, etc), tried different types of videos, failed countless times and finally found your way. There might be a dozen of creators who are more qualified than you to recommend the best video editing AI tool, but nobody is more qualified than you to talk about the mental journey of being a content creator. I feel deeply connected to you not when you talk about how you made a 7 second intro but the amount of times you've failed at this game and managed to climb back up again. You are so expressive in your expressions and language and the audience can feel that energy. We are all looking for those 20% of our viewers who connect with us on that personal level right? If so, I think this is what makes you stand out. (Maybe I'm biased because I talk about mental health myself, but I somehow wish to get this message through to you. Even if you disagree because you have your better judgements then that's totally fine!) If you had the patience to read all of this, I can't believe how humble you still are at 33K subs! Tian
Hey Tian, Thank you for the long and thoughtful comment. I hear and understand what you are saying. This is part of the reason why I want to start vlogging alongside my normal videos. This will alow me to share more raw moments, ups and downs and mindset stuff. It's difficult for me to make every one of my normal videos surrounding mental heath in content creation otherwise I'll feel like the videos will just be a bit samey. I still want to create basic education on an array of different topics because I enjoy making that content and it's good for growing my channel. I will however consider trying to stick to the mental health theme around videos where I think it is appropriate. For example I'm making a video about pros and cons of streaming tomorrow and I'll make sure to have a focus on mindset etc around this content format. Again thank you for the comment, I will keep what you said in mind every time I make a new video. Ben
Another great video Ben! I also think routines are essential in order to get where you want. In the book Atomic Habits the author talks about "habit stacking" which is just a great method for me ✨🤗
