Yesterday I traded in my 2020 FLSL and bought my first LiveWire 1 and my 19th Harley-Davidson motorcycle. My wife has a new 23 Ford Mach-e GT, so we are now petrol free. I have been watching your videos for a couple of weeks and your experiences and insights influenced my decision to buy a 1 instead of a Del Mar or Mulholland. Thank you for doing this video. I will be using your thoughtful video this Friday when my selling/servicing dealership (Harley-Davidson, LiveWire of Indianapolis, Fishers, Indiana) Delivers my bike. Thanks for sharing, Ride Free
Thank you. Just bought a 2022 Livewire a couple of weeks ago. I have not ridden it yet so the information in this video was very helpful. There were a few buttons I was not familiar with and the information you provided was helpful. Thanks again.
Thanks so much really explained the features of the bike as you get no owners manual with the bike just online manual which you would have to print out like eighty pages great video
Thanks Ben. Just ordered the Livewire One in Paris. I should take delivery next week. Very excited. I wish they'd kept the Harley colours and name but the new One in blue still looks mean.
Thanks man. Great video and very helpful. I’ve read the manual and watched other videos but this one really helped me understand the electronic functionality of my Livewire. Now to learn the HD app for music/ nav!🤦🏼♂️
Glad it helped! I don’t think you need to use the HD app for music, although I don’t have android so can’t comment. Nav is about 80% good compared to Apple/Google maps.
Great video! Really enjoyed this. I'm guessing the HD Connect App doesn't have a media player so if I'm listening to music or a podcast and using the navigation app will it call out the turns overtop of the music app?
The connect app does not play media, however you can still control media playback with the control module. The navigation will mute whatever you're listening to and announce the directions. This is how it is in the states, not sure where you're located
Thank you, I daily ride a Low Rider S (the original) and I want to get an electric bike for commuting. Right now I'm undecided between an Energica and a Livewire, especially because I'm really accustomed to controls (what you found new for the turn signal is natural for me), and I saw the media control when I tested it. And the FOB... on Energica the keyless system is 403 € extra while Harley had it standard for 15 years. The other thing I wanted to see were the custom modes, Energica has 4 regen levels that are independent from the setting, while Livewire standard mode has the strongest only in sport. Thank you to show how the custom mode works, I could customize the Road settings increasing that regen to max. It depends on what I end up buying. P.S. I hope you remembered to put back a secure PIN
Glad you found the video helpful! Yes the keyless FOB on the Harley is primo! I love walking away from it and it arms (once I'm 6ft away) with a little double chirp. I really like that you can copy a ride mode into a custom mode, then play with it there, I just wish they would offer some different icons instead of A, B, C and D. From what I hear, the keyless on the energica isn't the greatest, and has some issues. Check out @NewZeroland (Sam Baker), he recently received 2 energica's and shared his thoughts on them. And yes, I have a secure pin! 🤣
A helpful video, thank you. I see you're using Quadlock wireless charging phone mount, do you use a Vibration dampener? and do you still like/recommend the setup now it's been two years since you made this video?
I love the quad lock, still have the same wireless pad, but just recently changed out the ABS bar mount for the aluminum one. More rugged. The plastic one is fine if you never move it, however I was moving it between bikes often and it gave out a few months ago I’ve never used the vibration dampener.
@@AdventuresonZero thanks, I was led to believe optical image stabilization on an iPhone can be destroyed by motorbike vibration, maybe that's only on ICE bikes.
@@Shah_creates yes got the 2020 orange Fuze Harley branded .. will post some videos shortly thanks for the reply . going over your videos on this again very informative
Lost range? Meaning your bike isn’t retaining the same level of wattage? I never keep the bike at 100% unless I’m about to ride it, I usually keep it at 50-60% on days I don’t ride. Have you hooked your bike up to a meter to test how much draw there is from 0-100%? If it’s less than 13-14kW you might have some loss
I test rode the Livewire twice (two years ago when it first came out, and again last month with the new branding), and I test rode the Zero as well (both the new and the previous model). Judging by your channel name, you owned a Zero. For someone who is about to make their first EV motorcycle purchase, what was your day -to-day ownership experience like with both brands? Pros and cons (living with lack of Level 2 on the Livewire vs DC fast charging on the Zero)?
Hey, Shahriar, thanks for the good question. I am a full time college student, with classes everyday; my LiveWIre (and previously my Zero DSR) are/were my daily drivers to school. I put about 50 miles a day (rain or shine) on each frame. I owned my DSR for around 9 months and put 13k miles on it - riding it was a lot of fun. The DSR and LiveWire are both great frames, however I don't think they are comparable as both are different riding experiences. Plus, I purchased the LiveWire because my riding styles had changed since owning the DSR. I sold the DSR because I spent quite a bit of time trying to upgrade it to a level that would enable me to take long road trips. I installed heated handlebars, windscreen, charge tank, panniers and a top rack, 2 side mounted Quiq chargers. Needless to say, it had turned into quite the Frankenstein. I was able to ride 500+ miles in a day - however that was like 21 hours of riding and charging. I also bought the DSR because there really wasn't a level 3 network in my immediate area (further than the range of the livewire). Back in July, I was preparing for a 2500+ round trip on my 2017 DSR, and my charge tank broke about 2 days before my departure date. With my charging set up, to take full advantage of the 9ish kW of chargers, I needed TWO charging stations per stop and hoped that each one was above 6kW. It was at that moment that I checked my charging map and discovered that level 3 had finally been installed - that's when I started looking at the livewires. All that to say - everything I was doing to make that 2017 DSR more capable and comfortable - the livewire did stock. Ever since I bought the LiveWire, I haven't felt the need to make any upgrades to it - apart from being able to use my pannier. I think the Zero DSR is a great frame - however other companies are doing it better in my opinion. I had a motor bearing failure as well with my DSR, which I was able to fix. I had hit point to where I was tired of tinkering with the DSR to make it more than what it was. Good luck to you in your EV purchase! Be sure to let me know what model/company you decide to go with!
@@AdventuresonZero I just got your wonderfully throrough and insightful response now. Last Sunday, I took my third test ride on the Livewire, and it confirmed that I am truly in love. My wife finally is on board, so hopefully I will have that beautiful machine in my garage in two weeks or so!
Just wanted to drop a line and mention that I finally bought one in black last week. Getting the wife on board was the biggest challenge. Best purchase I have ever made!
What does the screen do? Distracts you from your surroundings. What is the ride like? Go to the convenience store charge bike, go to the grocery store charge bike, do a little highway miles, charge bike, go into a twisty road charge bike, so much as dare to wide open that throttle really need to charge the bike. To each there own the bikes are very sleek, the reduction in engine noise heat and vibration makes for a much more quiet ‘bicycle’ like ride. Nice new bits and bobs if your into that. I think for someone new to motorcycles don’t rob yourself of the serene simplicity that more traditional motorcycles can give sure you can ignore the screen and the buttons and features but will you? We tend to take the path of least resistance. Even if you just get something a little newer just for reliability and availability of parts get you some good high way pegs in a nice comfortably stretched seating position and hit a nice scenic road with an amazing panoramic view at-least just once. If your into biking you owe it to yourself. Edit: Their*

When you said charging via type 2 with a charging stations is slow, does it still charge within the claimed 78min 0-80%
that's only for the S2 platform, which takes advantage of L2 speeds. The LiveWire One can accept a level 2 charge, but only at a level 1 rate
