I bought a pair of Everlast faux leather bag gloves, barely lasted a month. My two pairs of genuine leather 16oz gloves from Fairtex and Raja Boxing have lasted 10 years and still going strong. Genuine leather gloves from a reputable brand are definitely worth if you're going to be training frequently and long-term.

It seems alotta peeps are seeing this and jumping from Everlast straight to Reyes? A bit overkill for the weekend bagworker - thanks for shouting out other midrangers (like Sabas) in the vid.

I'm a casual boxer but more of a historian. Just do it for exercise mostly. I'll say, I did bagwork with cheap gloves for years, then I tried on one of my friends Reyes gloves and loved it. Got a pair myself, then I became infatuated with gloves. I love collecting them now and noticing the differences. And I like trying to get my hands on pairs worn by my favorite fighters. Idk, it's a weird hobby I have now. lol.

The Everlast Elite was my first glove. It's not good by any means but it provides solid wrist support and good feedback when hitting the bag. Would recommend for someone starting out since it's very cheap and if you don't commit to boxing you don't lose out and you learn to understand what gloves would work for you when you buy a second one.

My first pair of globes was a really cheap one, made of synthetic leather, it stood up quite well for what it was. Then, I bought a pair of Everlast, don't remember the model, but they "everlasted" 3 months before crumbling into dirt, but I had to keep training with them because I couldn't really afford to upgrade, I was really pissed off with Everlast. This year I was able to purchase a pair of genuine leather globes (made in Spain by a local brand called "be humble or not, which is a trendy, hipstery brand, but the globes looked really good) and I have been training with those for a couple months now, 3 or 4 10-round sessions a week on either double-end bag or heavy bag, and I can finally say that I have a real pair of boxing globes. I think that I wont buy synthetic ones ever again, though I am a weekend bagworker (as someone said in the comments before) because I dont do competitive boxing, only train by myself, but the difference in feel, fit and finish on the leather globes is worth the extra money.

I have been trying new gloves and the cleto Reyes are really amazing, but for me I love the wrist shield on the Everlast which pros never use. However I would choose to box in the cleto Reyes , but it is not significantly better just the right amount.

I’ve had my red Ringside Super Bag Gloves for under 2 years and they’re still holding up really nicely. Anyone looking for some low to mid-range gloves, the Ringside SB gloves are great. $70 for them is a good price. Aside from a few scuff marks from the bags at the gym, they’ve held up quite nicely. I recently saved up for a pair of Hayabusa T3 Boxing Gloves. The wrist support in those are insane! I can wrap my knuckles more than my wrists because of the support I get from those gloves. Back in my teenage days of playing hockey, I got back checked and I landed on my arm, and broke my right wrist, so I needed a glove with ultra wrist support and the Hayabusa gloves give me less worry about hurting my right wrist.

Not trying to be a know-it-all, but I do leathercraft. Just to make people aware, the term 'genuine leather' denotes a very low-grade leather. While it is real animal hide, it is low, or the lowest grade leather. Full grain or pure leather is much more desirable but often can be too thick for purposes of making boxing gloves.

I bought the exact same pair of wbc edition Reyes gloves ordered from Cleto Reyes in Mexico for my son. I wasn’t impressed right out the box the wbc logo was very crooked but that’s cosmetic so not a big deal. As far as lasting they lasted 11 months before he blew out the stitching, that’s not too bad considering most title, everlast, sting, venum off the shelf gloves last him 2-3 months. (He trains 4-5 hours a day mon-sat) we have switched to winning and haven’t looked back. The quality difference between Reyes and winning are worlds apart. The only issues with winning is you either have to order from Japan or work with Mr. Kazumichi in California and the wait time can be up to a year if you want custom or embroidery. The other issue is they are by far the most faked gloves bout their if you didn’t order them from Japan and wait or from Mr. Kazumichi they are definitely fake from Pakistan or China. I have spent a small fortune on boxing equipment and as far as gloves go for a serious boxer winning is what I’d suggest. Fit boxers, new boxers buy cheep, boxers who are just doing golden gloves not shooting for a national ranking guys who spend 1-2 hours 2-3 times a week Cleto Reyes are great if your living in the gym taking a shot at Olympic or professional boxing buy winning gloves.

Just read the title to this video but haven’t got the chance to watch the video entirely. Just want to say, I made the switch from using Everlast’s powerlock gloves to using 16 oz Cleto Reyes training gloves and the change has been great! I love Everlast’s gloves too and I don’t mean to bash on them. The only thing that was a problem on the Everlast gloves is that they don’t last. After two months of use, the padding in the knuckles began to disintegrate. Thankfully, Reyes’ gloves haven’t done that. Hoping they last for much much longer.

    • @csquaredboxing
      @csquaredboxing  4 роки тому +3

Thanks! It’s more expensive because it’s a niche product made by one person in a workshop. It’s like comparing a timepiece (Rolex, tag heur) to a regular citizen eco drive watch. Both essentially tell time, but the time piece has better quality and is meant to last a long time, sometimes passing down generations. The Golomb gloves are kind of like that, they use top grain leather, made by one person in Pennsylvania that comes from a family of glove and leather artisans (who also are the originators of Everlast). So you’re paying for the quality and just a higher end leather product. Not to say reyes isn’t top level, because they are.

      Have both and it depends.
I use my 14 Venums for bag work. The fake leather they use doesn't retain heat so it's great for long sessions and the ergonomics of the gloves work for mid workout push-ups and planks.
I use my 20 oz infinitudes for sparring. Very comfortable premium quality for the price. Great for sparring because they are well balanced so you don't burn out your shoulders defending.
Depends on what you want them for.

For someone new to figure out if boxing or fighting sports is their thing, entry gloves are good. After a while, if u want to stay at the sports, a great leather glove that fits your hand great and lasts for years, youre gonna have so much more fun, even if youre not fighting, just training.
But there are also great, cheaper full leather gloves (like a lot of thai brands) which are great for the sports. You know, most of us wont have that much money to buy two or even one cleto reyes by that price point. But i do live in germany where cletos are way more expensive, around 250$.

I'm a beginner but I went for the hayabusa t3 and the rival rb5 for heavy bag since I didn't want to go so cheap. Hopefully these are good bag gloves. I'm just doing it for fitness, not to be a boxer lol. Can you recommend some good jump ropes? I just got some cheap ones from Amazon which I don't think it would be good for long runs. Thanks in advance

The only reason to pay $400 for gloves is if u have a title fight. Or getting paid to fight. That's a ridiculous price.

No, and too expensive is relative to your budget. Nobody else’s. If you can afford them, then get reyes, very nice gloves for the money.

Just ordered cleto extra padding (£210) in 14oz (assuming they'll be more like 16½oz?)
But the shop is messing me around and I may cancel. With a budget of around £200-300ish what glove would you buy for heavy bag work 5 times aweek and light sparring (for fun). I'm 6ft and 100kg but really don't want 18-20oz gloves 😉😂..
    All advice will be appreciated!!

      Are they worth it?

Used to compete…tried title boxing gloves, pro mex and everlast. Winning and cleto cost too much for me personally as I was getting minimum wage and paying for my coach and gym membership. I’ll tell you that you can feel a difference with certain gloves but it won’t make you Floyd mayweather or Roy jones jr. If you can afford only cheaper ones then a $30 would be fine. I’ve seen dudes get litt up with all kinds of gloves…..if you are competing then maybe invest in proper gloves to fight in.

I think he calls them cheap because they are the economical choice that one can obtain for less money🤔
You'll notice Carlo's wearing the Everlasts in the 'Nazo DEB review', so clearly he ain't hatin' on 'em...
But really... there IS a difference, and the sayin 'you get what you pay for' holds true in MOST scenarios of life.
