I started boxing at 35. Not looking to go pro or anything, but there have been a handful of 40+ yr old champions. It’s all about focus, and how hard you work. It’s great exercise and humbling. Everyone should learn how to fight. Best decision I’ve made. Best of luck to you. Loved the video. Take care of that hand friend
Kudos to you. I’m 24 and was interested in boxing for fun/exercise. I feel like I’m late with it too, but my question to you is what keeps you motivated to continue to learn to box?
Thanks for the reviews on the gloves, what I love about your video is that you've actually worn and used the gloves, unlike some other reviewers... no shade to nobody tho...I just like to hear about gloves and boxing things from actual boxers who've used the equipment and put in that pressure on the equipment.

Those who start boxing as teenagers their body already banged up by time they in their 20’s while those who start much later have fresher bodies to compete
Fairtex are good gloves but most are for Muay Thai. I have the BGV1 for Muay Thai but boxers would have to use the BGV9 Mexican style boxing glove from what I understand.
@@AxelfoleyTheGreat yes brother I have had the fairtex bgv9s for around a year and I have had zero hand injuries and they honestly still feel brand new from heavy use

I wouldn't say Fairtex Bgv9 are slim, I've got large slim hands & I have to use gel knuckle protectors under my wraps for an ok fit with my Bgv9 compared to my 12oz Boon Compacts which are absolutely perfect fit with wraps & still snug enough without wraps. I also prefer the wrist protection, feel & sound on the Boons for heavy bag.
@@RTJustice99 totally agree with you on this .... i always train with wraps done tight ... i have never been hurt like this ....and i use venums although different models but i can vouch for the quality
Fly really are special, instead of copying everyone else they did their own thing and the hand compartment just fits different, its a really compact hand space but its deep so the knuckles line up really well.
thank you for this review! I have some gloves with the same space issue they are not venum but i was not sure if that was supposed to be that way or not, I always hated that air pocket i was sure that was not supposed to be there and my punches always felt unstable, never seen someone adress this and its reasuring comming from a pro fighter.
Its a balance too little space and the fingers rub like crazy. Too much and the glove rubs every contact point its supposed to cradle. Thats why wrapping hands and knuckle guards are important.
@@edwardcobbs5443 Still using mine like 3 years on with sparring and heavy bag, I know usually a big no no, and had them checked by coaches multiple times and they're still perfectly padded and safe

Same. These dudes just don't know how to hit properly. That's what happens when you only care about looking good instead of drilling the fundamentals/technique.
I have the same flys that you have for bag and pad work and the fly premium lightning for sparring. Best gloves ive ever used and i have used a lot of brands.
Fly X is literally half the price of Winning and hits flush on the knuckle every time! I have both and will often use my Flys over Winning. I recently treated myself to a pair of bespoke Flys and they are amazing at custom gloves. Same leather they make Bentley car seats with, crafted in the UK. The Fly Xs are made in China but still an amazing glove for the price. Excellent value for money.
I bought some tm a few weeks ago and they’re awesome. I got them in pu lat. only thing is they’re pretty big compared to other 16 ounces but they’re comfortable and snug inside.
I've had different gloves too. Cheap Bad Boy gloves: NO. Cheap Adidas: NO. Used Game Bred Sports gloves. All with velcro. Excellent wrist support and good padding. Used Punch Trophy Getter gloves. Not bad. Need to be able to wrap more around my small wrists. Have Hayabusa Tokushu gloves. Very well padded for kickboxing, great wrist support, but slide a little, which is annoying.
Been there with the bloody knuckles. I was working out on a body opponent bag for a couple hours and then went upstairs to eat dinner only to realize both hands were bleeding bad. Sometimes it’s better to just wrap and skip the gloves for that thing. But maybe not as hard as you hit. You hit harder than I can.
The dimond mma groin guard with the shorts is crazy good it has a little rubber around the edge of the guard to take some of the impact and the underwear that comes with it to put it in is really good too
I got my first gloves from, “Play It Again Sport.” They were Everlast gloves. I never end up with sore knuckles before. And I was new to wrapping my hands.
