I can plug my AKG directly in to my pc or my logitech z -5500 pod with absolutely no problem whatsoever. Volume is fine, as along as you don't want deafening.
Thanx for recommending the AKG. "Pulled the trigger" a few days ago and I 100% agree with your review. Wearing glasses like you do i cannot understate the comfort of wearing the K702. I never did try the the Sennheiser cause I really was a going for the most neutral sounds at this price point. I got them for the local equivalent of £125 on sale (regular street price £190). Nothing has prepared for the sound of these headphones, totally stunned!
NJ Random all I can tell you is that it does roll off, and there isn’t much bass, but that’s one of the reasons I love my 702’s since I listen to classical.
Recently bought AKG 702. They are very open, so I bought a pair of AKG271 Mk3 to supplement them, as they are closed back. The 702 is quiet when plugged into my Motorola phone or PC, acceptable on my tablet or Marantz CD player jack socket. Amplifier jack socket is absolutely fine though. I agree with your review on the AKG you can't wear them in public because the open back means you can hear people laughing at how ridiculous you look.
@@jschroder1408 yes.....yes they are, you are right.....im just wondering why.....i have 300 ohm headphones that are much easier to drive....i know ohm isnt everything but damn....K7 series can't be that hard to drive....but it is
I own the AKG K702 and the Sennheiser HD 598. Both are incrideble! I prefer the K702 to listening to jazz and fusion. I prefer the HD 598 to listening to classical, rock and metal.
I'm looking at the 2 myself. By chance have you done any gaming in either of them? I currently have a HD650 but I would like some headphones for gaming that have a better soundstage.
hi, are there any differences between the AKG K702 and the AKG K702 65th anniversary? it seems to me that the 65th came out much earlier, so what has changed with the K702 model, has there been any updates?
Thank you, very helpfull. I still can’t understand if I can wear them for 5-6 hours a day, I’m talking about Sennheiser ones. Or I should choose another type of headsets for long wearing time?
Good review Doug, I'm a big Mike Oldfield fan like yourself, probably say TB2 is my favourite. I have an old pair of Sennheiser HD535 that I was thinking of replacing with some KRK KNS8400's, that might change now in favour of the HD598's :)
I loved my Sennheiser HD 598, I agree that the sound was out of this world, but after less than a year one side just stopped working. I was really careful with them, they never left my desk, were never mistreated, just heavy usage because I used to have them on my head all the time while I was on my computer. Really interested to hear from you, are yours still working?
Hi, yes mine are still working and sounding great, but the headband is fallling to bits and gaffs taped up now😂, funnily enough though my AKG K702s stopped working on one side not long after this video, but it was just a faulty cable.
You did an amazing not to "stiff technical" nor "wanna sell you this" review. Very very good work. However a little typo in the title - it's : Sennheiser HD 598 not Sennhieser HD598Thank you for your great work and reviews. Salve P.S.I started to view all your Album Reviews and the more i view the more i like them.
Ok. I prefer the sound without foam aka 598's. :) It's pretty much the more expensive headphone, if you remove the foam. ^^ They just put it in there to reduce cost of manufacturing. Other then that, they are pretty much identical.
I own both 558 and 598. After listening to 598, i always feel i miss something in 558. Its less details, marginally less sound stage and mainly the sound seems less alive on 558. 558 is no slouch but 598 is just better in all parameters.

Hi,
Which have the biggest soundstage ?
Thanks, regards.
Jean Vúvú the 702’s soundstage is so large it’s almost confusing.
NJ Random all I can tell you is that it does roll off, and there isn’t much bass, but that’s one of the reasons I love my 702’s since I listen to classical.
At k702 you put the right ear-pad wrong ( are angled ear-pad ). Anyway, the HD598 does NOT have a bigger sound stage then the K702 ...

65 ohm on the K702 isn't that much....with amp its better but if you dont want a deafening sound they are alright with your phone as well....
Thome90 actually the k702 are known for being really hard to drive.
@@jschroder1408 yes.....yes they are, you are right.....im just wondering why.....i have 300 ohm headphones that are much easier to drive....i know ohm isnt everything but damn....K7 series can't be that hard to drive....but it is
They can go plenty loud but they sound tinny and lack dynamics if you drive them from a weak output.
Are the sennheiser still worth getting in 2020
my sony's broke in a week. sent it back and picking up the sennheiser hd 598, im going to miss that boosted bass

petrosmalk does the hd598 still excel in jazz?

The Sennheisers are perfect for very long use

hi
which one better for shooter games like rainbow six to listen and hear all walking players and detailes?
K702 and AD700x. I hope you found what you were looking for.
I just bought the akg k702 and I have the hd 599 also but instead of sony I have m40x :)
Which one do you prefer between K702 and HD599?
@@ludwig2952 k612 pro :)) ... depends what do you want from them, k702 is the best but also hd 599 get you from a to b ... but not in the k702's way

Thanks and well spotted, I have made the corrections, cheers
AKG headphones can be good or bad, but I will NEVER like that headband system.
Also, ordered 558 (cause don't have the money for 598 yet)
You can make them sound like the 598, doing the foam mod. :) Super easy. And makes them sound awesome!
If the 2 response curves I found are correct, I don't want to. I would rather have a slightly uneven treble than veiled treble.

Buy one of these and smack on top. AKG sounds amazing to me. :) www.ebay.com/itm/141390243344
