I just got these 2 days ago and I'm really surprised at how smooth, spacious and incredibly detailed they are. I also have a Sennheiser HD6XX (which I adore), but these bring something else to the table. Jazz and acoustic music sound so breathtakingly natural and detailed, I can hear the actual wood in the instruments vibrate. To those who said these headphones don't have any bass, you should really check your ears (or the recordings you're listening to, which are probably CRAP). With my setup, the K702s have plenty of bass that's accurate and clear, not boomy/bloomy. These are worth much more than they go for. Great review, by the way. Subscribed!
I owned the Sennheiser HD800 and the AKG K702 - and kept the latter. They are equal in resolution and soundstage - and superior in sound signature and more comfortable. At a fraction of the cost. Absolute no-brainer. P.S.: it is mostly not the impedance that causes you to have to turn up the volume a notch more, but the sensitivity. The K702 have a sensitivity of 105 db against the 112 db of the HD558. 3db difference equals roughly twice the sonic pressure and 10 db is perceived as twice as loud. So 7db is quite a big difference - and about the same as the 5 db difference you estimated.
Could you maybe tell me how you charge them or got them to turn on like I'm new to them and I cannot figure out how to power them on or if I need to charge them first if so how do I do that
@@mistysummer3859 I am not sure we're talking about the same headphones. The ones I listed are all wired headphones. You cannot charge them. Just plug them into the headphone jack and go.
These are by far my favourite headphones and I have the sennheiser hd600, the hd558 precision, the Hifiman he-4xx and the Philips fidelio x2hr and as I said before these ones are the best, criminally underrated
@@baboom007 I don't do gaming anymore men, but usually gaming headphones are Vshaped for a reason. This one is neutral. So that's that. Soundstage? Its better than most hp out there. It's not too much but better. I don't get why they say that it's too much or unnatural. Maybe it's just preference or unusually wide compared to most hp. For me i enjoy it. Bass sufficiency? Depends on what you use it for. For music, it depends on your taste. For me it is actually a little bit less to be called enough. Just a little bit. That's for bass, as in bass from guitar and bass drums. Ahm how do i explain this. It less in quantity but it has quality. For sub bass it is very very thin but it is there. It's just not the usual amount of subbass u get from other hp. For games, if you're playing fps, then the gunshots wouldn't sound so punchy. But other than that i think you're good.
Gear mishaps really are perfect excuses for upgrading. I have wanted to upgrade my speakers for the longest time but I have also had several issues with my carts and each time decided to try something new and hopefully better, at this point Im almost hoping my speakers give in as well so I can get to it ;^) Congrats on the new cans and happy new year!
Thank you for the great video, Roy! I just saw your Alesis mixer at 9.08 minutes. Is it possible to use a mixer as headphone amplifier? (I have a Mackie Pro FX 6v3 here.) Or is the quality of a special headphone amplifier much better? (I have no experience with them...) Best wishes from Germany...
hi, are there any differences between the AKG K702 and the AKG K702 65th anniversary? it seems to me that the 65th came out much earlier, so what has changed with the K702 model, has there been any updates?
Apart from your excellent review, there is one aspect that is really revealing; the price in USA/Canada. Mine cost 130 euros. Yanks, you are being ripped off.
Sir i m currently running a shitty earphones m thinking of getting a new headphones but m not sure which i m a huge pink floyd fan and m comfused around Sennheiser hd 560s akg k702 and beyerdynamic 880 pro (250) all these 3 are basically of same cost here in india I think i can spare some cash and get some ifi zen air dac amp combo as it is cheap I will be greatfull as you are one of that actually know the sound signature and what could be the best Love to hear your input Regards

Agreed, and I had the HD-800S- which got rid of that nasty upper mid spike of the 800. Either way, not worth the cash at all .

Very good review!
I got them and I love them.
Do yours have stock earpads? they seem bit thicker than mine.
Could be Dekoni. They usually make em a bit thicker
The k702s are around €110 ( $130) in Europe
