I respect this man for being here explaining and reveling all the truth he knew. Unlike Jeff's mother who just took off changed the name to disconnect from this. The father kinda sacrifices himself in the eyes of a public to pay respect to the families of the victims and also to endlessly show Jeff that he is not alone. Even after the death. Its such a terrible story. Thanks to the father we all can learn something.

I feel bad for Lionel. He has to live with the shame of what his son did. Speaking about it may be therapeutic for him. There is always premature judgements from strangers wanting to blame him, but he hasn't committed a crime and isn't to blame. His book is a mostly a self-analysis of trying to figure out where it all went wrong for his son. Proceeds from the book covered his legal fees and he donated the rest to the families of the victims. Lionel felt Jeff had some psychological issues and tried to help. Jeff manipulated everyone around him during his crime spree. Jeff seemed to be remorseful for his actions but he was still pretty detached from it all.

Jeffrey’s killings and the case always has been very interesting to me. I have no clue why it does. I believe Jeffrey was very very lonely and had serious issues throughout life. Being that lonely and having no one to confide in, can drive you insane. I also think he wanted someone to stay with him forever and maybe he thought that was the only way to keep them by his side at first. Maybe his first kill was an accident? Maybe he thought he just knocked him out? I remember watching one of the interviews and he said he would keep parts of them so he felt like they were with him. Loneliness, however, does not make up for the heinous crimes committed and the families who were hurt. I feel for him on the lonely part, but the killing? No way. What he did to those poor boys and men is inexcusable. He could’ve ignored those feelings or he could’ve gone to a psychiatrist or psychologist (he probably would’ve went to a psychiatric hospital, but still better than killing people.). I understand urges to do something and feelings get overwhelming, but again, no reason to kill innocent people including minors.
Overall, Jeff was a lonely, miserable, and evil individual..

Believing that the killings of these ppl were because Jeff didn't want them to leave because he felt lonely is bizarre to me. Jeff already had it in his mind that he was going to kill these ppl. it wasn't impulse killing it was planned out murders, he in a sense hunted these men for only one reason and that is to kill & mutilate them because he enjoyed it. If he only wanted them to stay he would have held them captive. A child like this, left alone to roam, gather dead animals as friends, etc. is doomed. The way Jeff throws that puppy around like a Rag doll, and throws a ball at his granny’s head, all show signs he cannot relate to peoples feelings. He needed to be taught how to be social. Oh, excuuuuse me, we didn't know that the monster you created who killed and ate innocent people, you relate to him as Jeff. Our bad.

He was allowed to hurt an animal period. Jeff at a young age developed the mentality that animals don't hurt. He should have been stopped at that instant. PARENTS should have looked after him always. That was the root of it all.

"excuse me doctor is Jeff... " Does it matter? Remains the same a serial killer

I think it’s because his stepmother considered “Jeff” dead. Jeffrey was just the empty shell and the killer that took Jeff’s place. So she is probably just thinking Jeff is gone. And since they’re talking about his upbringing, she probably wants to refer to him as such. Not the killer he became up until that point.
Idk I’m being a psychology/sociology nerd rn since I’m wanting to be a psychologist.

I know a lot of people are being critical of the father , and maybe he does have a hand in how this played out . I just respect the fact he hasn’t changed his name and hiding, at least he is trying to atone for what has transpired. May god bless the families of the guilty too .. in tragedies both sides lose

The monster didn't come out by itself. There so many factor that involved. Began during the pragnancy (stress, phills, overdose, smoke, weed) and continue to his childhood (family problem, bullying, no friend, nobody he could talk with n play with) and got worsen during his teeage (broken home, abandon alone, metal broke down, school problem) while we know that in every age of those moments are very critical moments of human mental development. YES, its not an excuse for all what he did, but at least I know, in our similar social environtment, somewhere out there, another dahmers still alive, could be on the process of becoming the monster too

Step mom. I think that lady who was her friend was telling the truth when she said that shari hated Jeffrey and David and didn't like that Lionel had to pay child support. In another interview Shari says something along the lines of I feel bad for jeffrey he should've been down like a dog.
