      Ive been looking for a video like this for 2 years!! I finally feel like i understand what I’m doing a bit more, thank you so much!! You explain everything so clearly and it’s a really interactive tutorial, amazing job.
      Would you be able to do a video of different g7 lenses? I only have the stock one at the moment and I’m looking to upgrade for more shot variety, what would you recommend i go for next?

    I have been a professional content creator for 10 years and I've made tutorial videos and watched MANY MANY tutorial videos. I'm only 5 minutes into this video and I've already learned several new things about the equipment and software I've been using for my entire career. Yes, they are little tweaks, but they matter to me and I just wanted to let you know I appreciate how thorough you are and your style of explanation. This video was made 3 years ago haha I'll have to check the rest of your stuff out. I'll recommend you to creators looking to use DSLR cameras as their primary camera source. I happen to use the Lumix G7 so some of the more in-depth explanations for settings you are using are causing me to re-think how I've been using my camera for years. Kudos!

      Good settings, but the vid is unnecessarily long - basically this guy reds a script where most of the time he just reads phrases out loud, and, somewhere in the middle, VERY FAST, explains and visualises thebsettings for a few milliseconds - it's really annoying, my camera battery has died while waiting for this guy to express himself - and now, I have some settings done, but cannot shoot with it. MAKE YOUR VIDS SHORTER, next time, thx

    For those of you who think that the autofocus is not good. Actually it's not bad, you have to use the AFC Function and then make sure continuous auto focus and turned on. It does a decent job. It's not like the Sony A7s or anything but it's close. Also make sure that you are using native Lumix/Panasonic glass.

    •  3 роки тому +5

      That's awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing the tip!
      And thanks for watching!

    • @thetruthexperiment
      @thetruthexperiment Рік тому

      Or use the crappiest lens you can find or a really old lens for interesting effect. My favorite lens (despite having a wide array of good Panasonic glass) is the $30 toy lens and my second favorite is this old Nikon 50mm from 50 years ago. It looks unusual and amazing. Looks very oddly cinematic in its own way. You’d think it would be boring but the lenses are of high quality and the 50mm translates to 30 something? Whatever, just don’t use middle of the road lenses. You want crap or excellent. Otherwise it’s just boring.

    • @thetruthexperiment
      @thetruthexperiment Рік тому

      And yeah, if you use auto focus at all, which I wouldn’t use for cinema style anyway since I’ve been pulling focus manually since I was 6, it’s better than the best autofocus from 30 years ago. Auto focus is more for photography in my opinion.

    •  3 роки тому +1

      I'm glad you found it helpful!
      If you're shooting action scenes with a lots of movement you might wanna break the shutter speed rule and use a slightly higher shutter speed, to achieve a more chaotic look. I think that that always looks better for action scenes.
      Thanks for watching

    • @KarimDavisFilms
      @KarimDavisFilms 3 роки тому

      @ thank you so much for your response Vitor! You mean higher shutter speed but keep same Frame rate right? Btw, great content, subscribed!

    •  3 роки тому

      Thanks very much for subscribing 🙂
      Yes! I mean higher shutter speed but with the same 24fps (if you go for real time)
      You can shoot a take with the same shutter speed I talked about in the video, and another take with higher shutter speed and compare the two, and see what works best.
      But if you're shooting indoors or if you have any lights in the frame, beware of flickering.
      When you use higher shutter speed you might experience some flickering in your video caused by the lights.
      So be cautious 😉

    Victor this is by far the best educational video on LUMIX G7. Thank you for taking the time explaining the cause and effects. My question is the low lighting settings you used that gives a blurry background can that be used during the day? My goal is to create online courses. Not sure if cinematic setting are used for education videos. I feel empowered. Thank you.

    •  Рік тому +1

      Thanks very much Robert! Yes, you can certainly use large aperture during the day, but I would recommend getting a variable ND filter in orther to maintain the shutter speed at 1/50, because using large aperture during the day will introduce a lot of light into the camera. I would recommend these setting for every types of videos!

    What do you mean by interpret 30 and 60 fps to 24fps?Is that what you call it when you slow it down to match the 24fps or is there another process that takes place before you slow the footage down And before dragging them in the 24fps timeline?And are your 60 fps 1080 files and if so are you dragging them on a 4K timeline with 4K footage to achieve smooth slow motion?

    Well done. Freely sharing what to many is proprietary information. Bravo, all information to all people. And, not only do you share concrete information, you also explain with simple sound rationale. I even forgive you for the background music.

    •  3 роки тому +2

      My goal with this video was to share as much as information as possible in a simple way so everyone could easily understand. I'm glad it worked out! I'm very thankful for all the people watching my videos and supporting my work, and since a lot of people requested this video I've put a lot of effort into it.
      Thank you very much 🙂
      PS: the background music was to make it less boring ... Or try to at least, haha

      Yeah, that is because the G7 doesn't have IBIS, so it's a little bit harder to achieve smooth footage!
      Thanks for your suggestion! I might do a vídeo covering that in the future!
