I can't believe it took them so long to start making metal diff gears! The 6x6 format is a lot of fun, very capable you can run lines you would never be able to with a regular truck! Have fun and thanks for watching!
Thanks for the tutorial man, i just finished installing a generic all metal gear trx4m transmission+87t 180 in mine-works a treat!! I did have to heat up and slightly bend the tie ends on mine, as well as hog out the skid plate where the tie ends land Thanks again dude
I'm trying to find info on what is the ratio difference between trx-4m and scx24 transmission. Do you know it? At least the trx4m has different sets so it's convertible, what is not that easy on axles since you need a special "walkthrough"(?) worm gear for the mid axle
I can't remember the numbers, but the scx24 transmission really doesn't have much reduction. I'm running the stock "trail" gear ratio In mine and it has a bit more reduction than a stock scx24. I was going to pick up the high speed gears and try those out, but never got around to it.
I would love to do a set up like that with mine, but it's nothing more than a trail truck for playing with my 5yo nephew. He ran mine through heavy grass and something failed in the transmission. I took it apart but couldn't find any stripping of the gears, but it did look like the screws holding the trans together might have been over tightened. It was kind of warped. I bought an ebay special that turned out to be a metal geared trans and motor combo for the Rockvans. It was a direct replacement with zero fitting necessary. You have given me an idea with the Traxxas trans. I might go that route should the new one fail me.
Yeah when my transmission stripped the output gear I had to look really closely because the gesr teeth are tiny! Mine only had three teeth sort of flattened off. If you do decide to use a TRX4M transmission just be aware that the axles won't like it! Thanks for hanging out mate!
I don't have a link sorry, I searched the screw size in Ebay and found a us seller that had what I needed! Not easy to find long screws of this size otherwise!
I modified my Atlas 6x6 (FCX24 2 speed trans + got out the rear roll cage), but it is still far from the capabilities of yours. You make me discover the Mofo SCX24 portal axles. Maybe i have to go back to my workshop and work further on this project. Thank you for these info.👍
Your welcome! I'm glad you found the video useful! I enjoy the truck, but I wish I didn't have to replace the entire driveline to make it reliable! Thanks for watching mate.
Most of the vids on these things were not positive, unless the author got it for free. The ESC and poor geometry seems to be the culprit. I would like to add one of these to my stable. But all the problems turned me off. However your vid has given me hope that these don’t suck all that bad. I think I will keep my eye out for a deal around the holidays. I have a junkyard of SCX24 parts! Thx for an eye opening vid👍

This is genius. Much love from the US!
@@hjeffcoat42 Thank you 👍

No problem at all mate! Glad you got it running nicely, the TRX4M transmission is a great fit for the truck!
Thats sick. Thanks!
No problem at all mate! Mine has been very reliable after this conversion 👍

Great fix!!! Appreciate the video, 667th subscriber. Got you off that other number lol.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks for subscribing so that number went away! Much appreciated 👍
Great build! Thanks for the info. May have to consider doing something similar. Awesome vid.
Thanks mate, I really appreciate the comment. The Atlas is a little beast now, It really benefits from having that extra power!

Mine didnt pull teeth but the gear spun on shaft..@@JD-tl7ld
Do you happen to have a link to that screw kit you used? I can’t seem to be able to find one that has the 16mm long screw needed.

If you can get one cheap enough it's a fun build and a fairly inexpensive way to add a 6x6 to the fleet! Thanks for the comment!
I'm very interested in your worm gear mod. Please advise
