I saw you pulling stuff from the middle and I did that and just a bunch came out. My mom nearly screamed when I yelled “END” because I finally found it.
I always get the yarn barf looking for center. Then it’s all knotted up. I am anxious to try this! I have gotten so frustrated trying to untangle etc I’ve thrown good yarn away. Not much. I do have to put it down and come back to it later. Hope this helps. So glad I found your videos!
Yep, this is what I do,with mixed results. It’s very rare I pick out the right end right away. I do have a ball winder but as you say, it’s a faff. Would it REALLY be too difficult for yarn producers to leave the end sticking out for us?
My Grandma kept her skeins each in an empty 2 liter bottle with the lead coming out of the top. Such a great idea but gotta get that center pull! Thanks for the tips.
I put an elastic around the ball label as when you get closer to the end of the yarn, the label collapses. Tape will work but I find an elastic easier and more readily available.
It’s not the getting started I find hard when working from the middle, it’s the skein collapsing into a big heap of barf as I get to the the last third or so of the yarn. Is there a way to handle that?

It truest is a 50/50. Sometimes it’s just a little but so many times it’s a big mess. Just need to be patient and dig for the end!!
So useful and encouraging for me to see you persisting to find the central end. Really helpful. Thanks
I do exactly what you do. 👍😂 Brilliant idea on putting those grommets on the lid. Brilliant! 🥰
Wow!!!! After moooonths of just battling I did this “fingers into the center of the skein” I got it the first time!!!! Thankyou soooooooooo much❤
Finally someone really helpful.

LOL totally agree why do they have to hide it. There are some yarns that are kind to us but they are few and far between.
This was great. I always have a hard time. Your tip worked great!
I did it AHHH!!🎉 Thank you ❤

Glad it helped!
Got it! It was in a big wad but easier to undo from the start than in the middle of a project. And I’m going to try the container trick!
Omg I got it the first time I tried thanks so much
THANK YOU for this video!!!!

This was so helpful. ❤️
Yarn companies used to put arrows on the wrappers. Why did they stop? Iw
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thank you! It was a bit hard it felt like I was directing something 😂
I usually just pull the yarn barf out, find the end and the barf isn't that hard to separate.
Thank you.
This is exactly how I do it...I call it "disemboweling the skein."
Why don’t you just wind the skein up using a yarn winder from the center out and then you will have a cake you can use starting with the center??
I just ruined a new skein of yarn i JUST bought of this tutorial thanks!
Doesn’t work on bigger skeins.
I've been Crocheting for 50 plus years & I will not buy a skein of yarn if I can't see the end LOL
Nobody likes yarn barf.
And yet it happens so often!
Thank you!!
