I'd probably LOVE them. I have the Sewrella metal tunisian hooks that Toni shared 6ish months ago and have added the swivel cords they recently released. love, love, love them. I tried and tried to love the bamboo and plastic sets that are available and just hate the feel and drag of the yarn on those materials. I'm a metal only girl and they never wear out!

It's the same as ebay, shein, wish and the like. But this review had me, now the only question remaining is "Do I need them?". And the answer is yes, because it's a *metal* tunisian crochet hook set.

I bought an inexpensive set of metal hooks with rubber like handles as my first and only regular crochet hooks and love them to this day. Never felt the need to buy any others. When I wanted to pick up Tunisian, I bought an expensive set of bamboo Tunisian hooks - and I'm not loving them so much!! I was thrilled to see Toni's review today of the same metal set of Tunisian hooks that I ordered! I don't have them yet - but hoping I will like them too!! Just sharing my experience because I can relate to your words!! They don't have to cost more to be better! 💕
One con you didn't mention is actually the nickel plating! I sadly wouldn't be able to use these, I get red and itchy from just a couple hours of cheap jewelry I don't want to imagine how my hands would feel after a crochet session with these 💀

I stay away from those Chinese warehouses. I do Tunisian on afghan hooks and been wanting to expand but knitter's pride is a bit pricy to try something but these all the features I could need and I love metal hooks. Just bought them thanks.

Listen, “Toni Approved” spells “SOLD” in my language. I have one individual Tunisian hook that I got from Joann last year or before because I was curious about what it was for. My first Tunisian video was Toni’s and I was HOOKED from then on, making swatches all over the place! And I really wanted a set with the cords because I figured certain blankets would be easier than regular crochet. I always pour through Amazon reviews because I don’t have the money to experiment but I was never really sure which product to pull the trigger on. NOW👏🏽I👏🏽KNOW👏🏽!!! Thank you, Toni!!!
Ali Express has been around for YEARS!!! Way longer than Temu or Shein. Many vendors have ordered products from them to resell through their own stores for a long time. I think most vendors are pleased with their products, that's why they are still around. Might have to try these though. I have a plastic set from Denise Interchangeable Crochet Hooks that are ok... but I do like the feel of metal for Tunsian. Thanks for the review!

I have not ordered from Ali Express but I have ordered from Temu. I have been looking for a set of corded Tunisian hooks and these look like a go. I find that when ordering from these sites one should be really mindful of the dimensions that are given. Also if you are ordering yarn or thread the weight is not always given so you may end up with a lighter weight than you were expecting. This recently happend with some cotton thread I recently ordered. It was lighter than a size 10 so I doubled it and it works just fine. I could have used it as a single strand but I wanted a heavier weight for the project. So just use caution an you should be good.👍
I am so glad I did some research on hooks today; I am old-school Susan Bates aluminum hooks. I have been crocheting for over 40 yrs, so I am picky about the hooks' feel when used. Just ordered a set of these needles. Your videos are such a big help to this older crocheter; thank goodness for UA-cam and your channel.
I jumped at the link even before your review was finished just to find out that they do not ship to Germany. :( I have the Addi set but the larger sizes at resin hooks and would really prefer metal as I have never been a fan of wooden/bamboo hooks.
Oooh I will say with them being nickel plated, be wary (anybody considering purchase.) Holding onto these might trigger an allergic reaction; most people are allergic to nickel and the moisture from your hands could lead it to leech and irritate your skin! 😊
I just received them. I ordered them the moment i watched this video when it came out. They were out of stock at the moment, but they got back in stock and was shipped a week or so ago and arrived today. I opened them up and OH MY GOD THE SMELL! and just like Tony in this video i proceed to smell them 3 or 4 more times. I took the hooks and cables out, ripped the zipper out of the case and proceed throwing away the case and a big yellow tab the hooks were on. I put the hooks in a different pouch and i am a happy clam. They are great, smooth, not too heavy not too light. the allow they are made of is very interesting, it feels like its not just one metal. the cables are SWIVEL which is awesome. unfortunately they do not fit any of my other interchangeable hooks or needles but it doesnt matter cause there are plenty of cables of different length so its self sufficient. overall pretty happy!
I have a lovely set of the Knittter's Pride Dreamz hooks (recommended by Toni) but what I wanted was metal from the get-go. And swivel cords that are not plastic???? Placed my order as soon as I finished the video. Can't wait to get these! This store is going to be shipping out a LOT of these hooks in the next 24 hours.

I wanted to try tunisian crochet because ur channel has inspired me. Unfortunately, I saw this review too late. I am attempting ur Mulberry baby blanket and ordered a bamboo hook u also recommended with that project after searching for metal hooks in the correct size and failing. Then I though "well I'm gonna need all the sizes cause why not? I'm gonna buy a set kit". Nope! Those prices are ridiculous! Lol. But this is definitely something I'll keep in the back of my mind. Ok you may have tried this, but I bought water pens for watercolor from ali express and it turns out they twist in the opposite direction. It felt weird and I thought the caps didnt fit but just had to go left to tight and right to loose, in steady of lefty loosy righty tighty lol if that makes sense. worth a try. Loved this episode! I ordered these. They arrived 2 weeks before predicted - and are as smooth and wonderful as you said! I didn’t think anything could beat my 50-year-old I hook; oh my goodness! I’m never looking back. And. As much as I love the Pryms you recommended, sometimes I want a standard metal hook. These, without cord, are long enough for my large hand. Exactly what I was looking for. I’m delighted. It never ceases to amaze me when you say size 7 tunisian crochet hooks are difficult to find when my first tunisian crochet hook was a metal size 7 and I found it on the spanish equivalent of a dollar store for a euro. It is one of those that look like a knitting needle with a crochet head but still... It also crochets super good, it's the one I learned tinisian crochet with (with your videos so thank you for that). As for the hooks, I would totally buy them, I don't have the budget to buy a full set so I will probably end up buying this.
Did she say size 7 -- or 7 mm? Because in the US a size 7 is a 4.25 mm or 4.5 mm hook, also called a G hook. It's so confusing. 7 mm is the size that's almost impossible to find. It's also sometimes called an L hook (and sometimes it has no letter designation). I think we should all just use the actual size in millimeters, but I guess there are still a lot of old patterns floating around out there which use the old numbering system. (And by the way, why are 11 mm hooks hard to find, also? 🤔)

ORDERED! These look so nice! I should have ordered two sets so I could have double-ended hooks. Well, bummer. I went back to order a second set and the price went up to $50.61. I should have doubled the order the first time. Oh well.
I have a set of 'something embarrassingly cheap' that I got online. The hooks themselves aren't the problem, it's the fixed cord that doesn't swivel while you work that made it frustrating to use when I tried making a blanket in one large piece. I ended up giving up and went back to stripes or an entrelac pattern for large projects.
These do look and sound absolutely amazing 🤩 I just bought a really nice wooden set from knitters pride . It’s the ginger set. This set came with everything including a magnetic hook case with pattern holder. They have the largest sized Tunisian hook in a set I’ve ever seen.. a 12mm 😜😀 And the mindful cords work with them 😛 I would also really love this metal set ☺️ Where did you say you bought that other set you have that are comparable to a Susan bates hooks ? With the pointed like heads ? Also I couldn’t hear who where you said you got your hook gauge tester tool ? I’ve never seen one like this before. I always have trouble testing hook sizes with all the other types of tools out there. Toni, I ordered a set of the tunisian hooks from Ali Express after watching this video. I order a different set than you did. They are good, but my set doesn't have the swivel cord, but that is alright for now. I did get a black thin rubber disk, but I have no idea what it is for. Do you know? My set was in the $30 range.
Pricing is still what you mentioned in your video, Toni, thanks for the great review. But....buyer beware a little bit. Ali charged my paypal account twice, and both times cancelled the order "for security reason" (PayPal charges were not reversed). I managed to contact Ali via chat, and supposedly I'll see a refund in 3-20 days. Meanwhile, I can't order and they say I'll have the "info" to order once I hear from the refund team. I'll try to update on what happens. Glad others are having good experiences. UPDATE: Ali Express issued both refunds within 48 hours, which was fantastic! The site is a little clunky, but customer service seems to be on point and I'd try the again!

Got my set today and let me tell ya... I'm in love! You were so right... they "feel like butta" and they flow through the yarn stitches like butta. Thank you for this review! I was sold until you found that it doesn't fit Mindful swivel chords. So disappointing! Yes it comes with their own cords, but I would worry about availability of replacements from Ali. The Sewrella looks beautiful but the price point is hard to justify. I'll probably cave on the Sewrella but I'm hoping that TL will release her own by this summer.
Oh man, ive been burned by aliexpress in the past (they "lost" my order and wouldnt cancel/return, even after submitting USPS proof of "lost package" slip!) Im so hesitant to try ordering from them again, but a metal tunisian interchangeable set for under $50?! The temptation is so strong!! Toni, please make your set soon, id rather save up for yours instead! (That said, could you make your hooks longer than 6"? That seems so short to be "standard", and the end where the cable attaches sometimes digs into my palm on my current set... so annoying!!)

Does anyone have a link for extra swivel cords? I use these for sampling a good bit and prefer the shorter cords but would like to have backups for all of them. For day to day Tunisian, I use my Knit Pro Gingers, prefer them and have swivel cables--I do Tunisian and Tunisian mosaic all the time and swivel cables are almost a necessity, not required but sure do make life nicer.
While i can say the smell of the package was not great it will dissipate. Thank you for this recommendation. Having watch your previous video on tanisan hooks I want find a metal set that was interchangeable. Thank you so much these are so much smoother than the colver tanisan set (bought before watching previous video) with the acrylic yarn I'm using. Thank you so much, 10/10 would recommend buying these and used for tanisan and traditional.

Hi Toni I am so glad that you did this review. I love metal hooks the most along with a sleek bamboo as long as the heads are pointy. I will have to save for these as they are almost $70.00 Canadian but will be worth the wait!

I stay away from those Chinese warehouses. I do Tunisian on afghan hooks and been wanting to expand but knitter's pride is a bit pricy to try something but these all the features I could need and I love metal hooks. Just bought them thanks.

Listen, “Toni Approved” spells “SOLD” in my language. I have one individual Tunisian hook that I got from Joann last year or before because I was curious about what it was for. My first Tunisian video was Toni’s and I was HOOKED from then on, making swatches all over the place! And I really wanted a set with the cords because I figured certain blankets would be easier than regular crochet.
I always pour through Amazon reviews because I don’t have the money to experiment but I was never really sure which product to pull the trigger on.

Ali Express has been around for YEARS!!! Way longer than Temu or Shein. Many vendors have ordered products from them to resell through their own stores for a long time. I think most vendors are pleased with their products, that's why they are still around. Might have to try these though. I have a plastic set from Denise Interchangeable Crochet Hooks that are ok... but I do like the feel of metal for Tunsian. Thanks for the review!

They've been around for more than a decade. If there are problems like this, I'd imagine we'd have found out about them, just like with temu

I have not ordered from Ali Express but I have ordered from Temu. I have been looking for a set of corded Tunisian hooks and these look like a go. I find that when ordering from these sites one should be really mindful of the dimensions that are given. Also if you are ordering yarn or thread the weight is not always given so you may end up with a lighter weight than you were expecting. This recently happend with some cotton thread I recently ordered. It was lighter than a size 10 so I doubled it and it works just fine. I could have used it as a single strand but I wanted a heavier weight for the project. So just use caution an you should be good.👍
I am so glad I did some research on hooks today; I am old-school Susan Bates aluminum hooks. I have been crocheting for over 40 yrs, so I am picky about the hooks' feel when used. Just ordered a set of these needles. Your videos are such a big help to this older crocheter; thank goodness for UA-cam and your channel.
I jumped at the link even before your review was finished just to find out that they do not ship to Germany. :( I have the Addi set but the larger sizes at resin hooks and would really prefer metal as I have never been a fan of wooden/bamboo hooks.
Oooh I will say with them being nickel plated, be wary (anybody considering purchase.)
Holding onto these might trigger an allergic reaction; most people are allergic to nickel and the moisture from your hands could lead it to leech and irritate your skin! 😊
I just received them. I ordered them the moment i watched this video when it came out. They were out of stock at the moment, but they got back in stock and was shipped a week or so ago and arrived today. I opened them up and OH MY GOD THE SMELL! and just like Tony in this video i proceed to smell them 3 or 4 more times. I took the hooks and cables out, ripped the zipper out of the case and proceed throwing away the case and a big yellow tab the hooks were on. I put the hooks in a different pouch and i am a happy clam. They are great, smooth, not too heavy not too light. the allow they are made of is very interesting, it feels like its not just one metal. the cables are SWIVEL which is awesome. unfortunately they do not fit any of my other interchangeable hooks or needles but it doesnt matter cause there are plenty of cables of different length so its self sufficient. overall pretty happy!
I would like to buy these too! Do they have an extender so you can join the cables to make something longer than 100cm?
I have a lovely set of the Knittter's Pride Dreamz hooks (recommended by Toni) but what I wanted was metal from the get-go. And swivel cords that are not plastic???? Placed my order as soon as I finished the video. Can't wait to get these! This store is going to be shipping out a LOT of these hooks in the next 24 hours.

Thanks for the honest review! I prefer metal hooks too. I started crocheting with boyd hooks and have never tried any other types (wood, ect.) I wanted to try tunisian crochet because ur channel has inspired me. Unfortunately, I saw this review too late. I am attempting ur Mulberry baby blanket and ordered a bamboo hook u also recommended with that project after searching for metal hooks in the correct size and failing. Then I though "well I'm gonna need all the sizes cause why not? I'm gonna buy a set kit". Nope! Those prices are ridiculous! Lol. But this is definitely something I'll keep in the back of my mind. Thanks soo much for the review and the patterns and the video tutorials. I'll let you know how my blanket turns out!

Ok you may have tried this, but I bought water pens for watercolor from ali express and it turns out they twist in the opposite direction. It felt weird and I thought the caps didnt fit but just had to go left to tight and right to loose, in steady of lefty loosy righty tighty lol if that makes sense. worth a try. Loved this episode! I was so surprised they worked so well for you, so cool! Thank you!

It never ceases to amaze me when you say size 7 tunisian crochet hooks are difficult to find when my first tunisian crochet hook was a metal size 7 and I found it on the spanish equivalent of a dollar store for a euro. It is one of those that look like a knitting needle with a crochet head but still... It also crochets super good, it's the one I learned tinisian crochet with (with your videos so thank you for that).
As for the hooks, I would totally buy them, I don't have the budget to buy a full set so I will probably end up buying this.
Did she say size 7 -- or 7 mm? Because in the US a size 7 is a 4.25 mm or 4.5 mm hook, also called a G hook. It's so confusing. 7 mm is the size that's almost impossible to find. It's also sometimes called an L hook (and sometimes it has no letter designation). I think we should all just use the actual size in millimeters, but I guess there are still a lot of old patterns floating around out there which use the old numbering system. (And by the way, why are 11 mm hooks hard to find, also? 🤔)
You just made me buy these hooks, so if they suck, it's YOUR FAULT! You WILL pay for the hooks! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

I actually just bought these off of Amazon at the same time I bought the clover hooks. I like the clover hooks well enough, and they will be good for more slick yarns. But man. When I tried these, I fell in love. Even my fiancee loves me. They are 9/10 for me as well.

I have a set of 'something embarrassingly cheap' that I got online. The hooks themselves aren't the problem, it's the fixed cord that doesn't swivel while you work that made it frustrating to use when I tried making a blanket in one large piece. I ended up giving up and went back to stripes or an entrelac pattern for large projects.
Swivel cords really are terrific!

I just bought a really nice wooden set from knitters pride . It’s the ginger set. This set came with everything including a magnetic hook case with pattern holder. They have the largest sized Tunisian hook in a set I’ve ever seen.. a 12mm 😜😀
And the mindful cords work with them 😛

Toni, I ordered a set of the tunisian hooks from Ali Express after watching this video. I order a different set than you did. They are good, but my set doesn't have the swivel cord, but that is alright for now. I did get a black thin rubber disk, but I have no idea what it is for. Do you know? My set was in the $30 range.
They made a gold set now 😂 $63.99. I am just waiting for my normal set 😂 April 29th…
Pricing is still what you mentioned in your video, Toni, thanks for the great review. But....buyer beware a little bit. Ali charged my paypal account twice, and both times cancelled the order "for security reason" (PayPal charges were not reversed). I managed to contact Ali via chat, and supposedly I'll see a refund in 3-20 days. Meanwhile, I can't order and they say I'll have the "info" to order once I hear from the refund team. I'll try to update on what happens. Glad others are having good experiences. UPDATE: Ali Express issued both refunds within 48 hours, which was fantastic! The site is a little clunky, but customer service seems to be on point and I'd try the again!

I just started a project, and because I hadn’t tried Tunisian crochet before, I borrowed a friend’s needles. Having a little stress with them and was wondering if metal needles were the answer. The ones I found were quite expensive. Then I saw your review. They sounded like the answer I was looking for, especially the swivel connection. I love tunisian crocheting and always use some cheap bamboo needles. This set is great, but unfortunally I can't buy it 😢 because I live in Germany. Now I am VERY VERY sad...😮

Got my set today and let me tell ya... I'm in love! You were so right... they "feel like butta" and they flow through the yarn stitches like butta. I'm on a budget, so I ordered some hook grips so I can use these hooks (without the cords of course) just like I would regular crochet hooks. Thank you so much for doing this review!!!

Thank you for this review! I was sold until you found that it doesn't fit Mindful swivel chords. So disappointing! Yes it comes with their own cords, but I would worry about availability of replacements from Ali. The Sewrella looks beautiful but the price point is hard to justify. I'll probably cave on the Sewrella but I'm hoping that TL will release her own by this summer.
Oh man, ive been burned by aliexpress in the past (they "lost" my order and wouldnt cancel/return, even after submitting USPS proof of "lost package" slip!) Im so hesitant to try ordering from them again, but a metal tunisian interchangeable set for under $50?! The temptation is so strong!! Toni, please make your set soon, id rather save up for yours instead! (That said, could you make your hooks longer than 6"? That seems so short to be "standard", and the end where the cable attaches sometimes digs into my palm on my current set... so annoying!!)
I trust you review and I'm going to try these out. I have the Sewrella set and have been enjoying them. These have a couple of extra sizes, especially looking forward to the 7mm and 10mm. Can't wait to get my hooks on these hooks!😊
Does anyone have a link for extra swivel cords? I use these for sampling a good bit and prefer the shorter cords but would like to have backups for all of them. For day to day Tunisian, I use my Knit Pro Gingers, prefer them and have swivel cables--I do Tunisian and Tunisian mosaic all the time and swivel cables are almost a necessity, not required but sure do make life nicer.
While i can say the smell of the package was not great it will dissipate. Thank you for this recommendation. Having watch your previous video on tanisan hooks I want find a metal set that was interchangeable. Thank you so much these are so much smoother than the colver tanisan set (bought before watching previous video) with the acrylic yarn I'm using. Thank you so much, 10/10 would recommend buying these and used for tanisan and traditional.
