Everything here is true. Oh yeah, Asian parents want you to eat a lot but then call you fat later. I ate four bowls of beef noodles and my grandma was like, "You eat so less! Eat more!!" And then I said I was 46kg and she said, "So fat."
einsteinium omg, yassss, this is soo true. My mom complains when I’m not eating, but then she goes like you pig, you need to stop eating soo much, I was like “I’ve just ate one spoon of cooked rice...”
The advantage of being Asian for me was that I never got jumped at school. I was the only Asian in my school from elementary to high school and for sure I got called names. But the bullies never dared to touch me because of the stereotype that all Asians know Kungfu. I seriously got waited up by a group of guys after school one time. I just put up my fists and made some Bruce Lee noises and nobody dared to swing first, they all chickened out eventually. Haha it's a really advantage for boys more than girls, but it makes me remember a story of my mom's friend. One guy tried to steal something of his restaurant and he followed the guy and that guy was all chickened out and today that guy respects him and always give greetings to him haha
+masterbrendan That's probably not healthy... When random strangers say good-morning to me, greet me or ask me for help, kind of makes my day better. Then again when you don't want to talk people people can see it through your body language and wouldn't even bother approaching you.
I agree with that student's loan thing. My parents paid everything for my high school & college education. I haven't taken a penny from a bank to pay for my studies.
In Singapore we call even the elderly cleaners or coffee lady "Aunty"/"Uncle". When our Aussie/American/British friends came to visit and heard us go "Aunty! One coffee please" they were shocked! They truly thought that the coffee lady was our aunt!
Yeah that's our Culture here in our beloved Asia. We learn how to respect to elders even if they are not really part of our family. Calling them aunt and uncles is a sign of respect. That's what we are. And I am proud to be Asian
Maybe, but I think it's just your genes. In my country the folk with more asian ancestry tend to live longer too, and you got a lot of qigong yoga going on in asia, that stuff makes you live longer
My parents always say to me " Grow up and become someone important then come back and take care/live with us"…… I look at them all the time in disbelief.
Yeah this is soooooo true I always thought that I was the only one who think like that but now I GUESS EVERY ASIAN does.. Whenever i watched those English/American kids in tv EVEN my age I always thought they look soo older than me........and stuff Until ONE day I realize they just happen to have a matured looks at a early age and then BAAMM this looks of young LOOKING stops there UNLIKE US......WHOLE OF A SUDDEN OUR OLD LOOKING AGE HIT US😥😔
my mom still has contact with her high school classmates, sometimes all of them go to the restaurant with each other. My grandmother goes to the restaurant tot eat with her highschool classmates too, and she is 70+ years old. This is one of the things I love about China.
Yes for Indonesian too. People still have reunions with even KG and elementary friends...way into their 70s. Friendships can go really deep there. Though it isn't impossible in America to have deep friendships, but I have never experienced it as a whole class thing. In America that kind of closeness maybe for 2 or 3 people. Also, students still take care of their former teachers. If a former student finds out a former teacher is having some kind of hardship, then there'll be a collection of funds organized to help this former teacher by the whole class.
Man, after getting hooked on that Fresh Off The Boat show (which is super funny) and watching this video, it sounds awesome to be asian. My family is not close at all. When I was 10-14, I used to skate a lot with a vietnamese kid named Binh (may not have spelled that correctly) and when we did a sleepover at his house his mom would always cook us so much food. He moved away at the end of the 8th grade, I think because of his dad's job, but it was really cool how his family so readily accepted me when I was a scruffy latchkey kid in the 80-90's. Binh was a rad dude and a great skater.
Haha that sounds like me, but my friend is Indian. Her mom was always trying to feed us, and I was like, "Can your family please adopt me?" And her mom made this really good rum/plum cake for holidays which she hated, so she used to smuggle me large portions of this cake so that she wouldn't have to eat it. And of course it was delicious... XD
You know, the more I watch your videos about Asian families the more I wonder if Italy is secretly in Asia after all. Because you pretty much describe what it is to have an Italian family.
im not from the Philippines but im half Filipino and since my moms side is from the Philippines i live a whole asian life XD we dont eat american food a lot but when we do i usually want asian food and my gma makes homemade asian food it's awesome XD
phillines Japan Taiwan, Singapore, Vietnam, Thai, Korea rest of the world stolen ideas from China whether it be invention or culture. A phillipino friend of my ate tofu with soysauce or fish sauce.
"immune to white rice and noodles because that's all we eat" I went almost the entire of my first year of university eating noodles for lunch and chicken with rice for dinner 6 days a week.
I feel like Asians eat a lot more homemade foods, that's why they don't gain that much weight. My family is European and eats ALOT but we pretty much only cook at home and pack homemade lunches.
+Linh Le Generally, almost everyone gets bullied. I got picked on when I was in school too. I just made friends with the other people. Then, my friends would stick up for me when I got bullied. Helped me a lot and they would make me feel better about myself. I learned a long time ago that I can't make friends with everyone because not everyone would want to be my friend. But, true friends would come stand by you when you need them.
+chocoboblue99 I mentioned that because Dan and Mike said Asians are not attacked due to the notion that we all know Kungfu. Which is not true at all because there are so many incidents where we are targeted because we are smaller and less likely to report to the police (and of course it's also because we tend to keep our cash at home). I know Asian people who formed/joined gangs because they were beaten up at school when they were small.
The job hunt process: >Become 16 and then you can work. >Turns 16 >Finish HS and then you can work >Graduates HS >Study this and then you can work >Takes classes >Major in this and then you can work >Takes major >Graduate college and then you can work >Graduates college >Get a Masters and then you can work >Gets Masters degree >5-7 years experience and then you can work Parents be like "Why don't you have a job yet?"
i dont really think Australia counts in that first one since i know tones of adults still living with there parents and i wont be expected to move out either
Italians and Spaniards and many in South America also tend to live with their families and have extended families but I am going to be honest that this is the first time I learned that you can stay with your parents in OZ. I do admire the independence that Americans want to instill in their kids but as an Asian, I prefer the family values we have though they can be suffocating as well. However, we do need a support system and I would prefer that my family will be my support system.
the wedding thing applies to my culture too.. the parents usually pay for everything.. and people almost always bring you presents.. you can pretty much get most of your appliances given to you.. and a lot of money.. and if your family is rich enough.. houses.. cars.. timeshare holiday packages.. land.. even businesses and jobs can be given to you as wedding presents.. some people pretty much get set up for life. Best scenario is if you have relative who dislike each other and try to one up each other with the cost of their wedding gift to you lol
What if you were raised in a western family. i still have lots of the asian habits though. i do look 3 years younger. i am average size, i was a little chubby when i was little though. i've never had hotpot. same, everyone thinks i know martial arts. i've only got a red packet once.
You guys are awesome, I love how you can tell youre actual friends not just two actors paired together. You alway make me smile and at times you answer questions in to scared to ask ( dont want to come off as racist to anyone) You guys are a real treat to watch, AND ITS TRUE TO A POINT that Mikey looks like Jackie Chans bro, i can see a little Jet Lee in Dans smile and eyes :) both very handsome men. One day I hope you become famous and have great wealth :) peace be with you my brothers
I'm Southeast Asian and, when I turned 55 last February, my son posted my photo on Instagram, talking about how young I look at 55 (yes, that's my photo, no botox, no surgery). The funny thing is that I thought my language exchange partner, who is Japanese, was in his twenties. He's actually in his mid-forties. He, on the other hand, thought I was several years younger than he was. Now he knows I am older.^^ The rice? Yes! I just mentioned to my son yesterday, "They say carbs are the enemy? Then how come when I eat rice I get thinner?" Asians can eat rice and not get fat. On schooling, loans, etc, though, my son was able to secure a loan on his own (for a car) at nineteen with no guarantor (he's twenty-one now). He pays for his own schooling (he is a Cosmetologist, he is furthering his education with Redken) and does not accept any help from either me or my ex-husband. He talks about eventually moving, but I want to keep him with me! T_T
i know right, after every wedding i go to ( i am from afghanistan) the bride always has like 5 gold necklace , bracelets up to her elbows, and fingers full of rings
I still live with my mom. I moved out for 2 years while my brother and his wife lived with her. When he decided to move out, it was also “decided” that I’d move back home so mom wouldn’t be alone. I actually don’t mind at all. Mom took care of me and now I can take care of her. God, that sounds so Asian, doesn’t it?
You guys are so funny....so true about babysitters and not looking your age, etc...I got a job at an Asian restaurant when I was in college. I ended up with a lot of Asian friends and learned so much about their family lives.
Firstly, thanks you guys, I recently found ur channel, its been a really relaxing and funny watching those interesting video, especially after a long day of study or work. it is kind of a must watch of me now. secondly, I know u both grow up under western surroundings, at the same time with chinese parents, it makes sense that u get used to western lifestyles and customs knowing chinese culture. I can sense a little discrimination against some chinese traditions, like wedding ceremony. what i want to say is, as chinese offsprings we cannot just selectively choose the money in the red envelop and despite the bowing and kotow, as those r not only red tape, they are also the way we show our respect to our parents. Also wedding ceremony in china is not only about the marrying couple, it is also about combination of two families and the combination of social connections of both families. clients of the wedding, i would say, a majority of them r friends of their parents, and small part is the couple's friends. it is how the society runs which is totally different from western countries. this is why young couples cant just do whatever they want, as it is not only about them, it is also about their parents and the whole family. in additon, it is true that we make money holding wedding ceremony, but it is also true that we have to give away "fenzi"--red envelop every time our friends get married. anyway, i like ur videos, and most of the time u guys r objective. BTW i'm really proud of being a chinese and i can name more benefits of being a chinese. and hope u can talk more about chinese culture in the future. Do u listen to chinese or other asain songs, i'm thinking maybe u can make comparison between asain and western music and culture behind that.
instrument: trumpet (it was a choice because i wanted to be part of the cool kids) before college i had planned to move out while in highschool, even my parents was fine with it. i didnt really care for money then because i dont use alot for 1 person if i reallly tried. for weddings i was told to give money even when i was like 5. my parents gave it to me to hand it to the bride and groom. when it was chinese new year, almost everyyear i get red pocket money i was to give it to my parents because they said that i had to give it back and they will give it back to them for me which was very confusing. like they gave it to me... then i have to give it back.. like give back what they gave me. for metabolism its like.. high average. like if i eat a lot alot then i gain but if i just eat like.. a little under alot then i dont gain much. then again i get anxiety when im late ect so i tend to walk very fast and i alwayd try compete with someone who works harder than me. people never messed with asians because we were looked majority like weak and shy people. plus in this areas diversity it was majority asians so we all just got along. for my family. i only know like...1 persons name but only because he taught me work experience at his work place. my family tree is huge and all over the world. a lot of my relatives are like rich and they go traveling alot. i never see/hear them at work. i almost never speak to my relatives either because of the language barrier. its werid when i speak cantonese or mandarin i have an american accent but when i speak English to my parents i have a chinese accent but to my friends i dont have an accent.
Asia is the largest continent in world map with many different countries with different culture but you guy are just representing chinese and talking from only chinese prospective view. But there are too many different culture language customs tradition within Asia.Although 70% things are quite right what you guys says but another 30% only chinese people do agree but not all asian. I mean your video doesn't include whole asian point of vew so just a lil suggest could that be title change or saying chinese rather than asian? Which perfectly fits all of your videos. Still like your videos keep it up.
I agree with Kleco101. They are talking of East Asia. I am an Asian in Southeast Asia, though I have Chinese blood. Their examples are predominantly Chinese but some of the family values tend to be the same in other parts of Asia as well. I have spoken to some Indians and Pakistanis and a Palestinian. They have a close-knit family system like ours.
Moreover, this video only represents far southern Chinese perspective. We people live in Yangtze river delta is completely different from them. I gotta say people from their area are really money centered. Most of the stereotypes of Chinese were made based on them, not all Chinese.
Man, when I found out you were leaving OTGW I think I almost cried haha "Nooo, I'm not gonna see Mike and Dan's silly but educational moments again?!". And here I am... realizing how cool being asian is and hearing Dan asking Mike if he takes hormones hahahah my life is complete lol
As far as big family gatherings, there are different Western cultures that do it, and some that don't. Italians and the Irish are well known for having huge get togethers frequently. People who live in smaller towns and the countryside do too from basically any family background.
#9 is very common in the Native American community; especially the aunt and uncle thing as well as elders being 'grandfather and grandmother'. Usually, everyone else is a "cousin" instead of brother or sister though.
Trust me Mike, at least in my opinion, having problems gaining weight isn't fun, at least not in America. I'm not Asian, but I've been working out pretty hard for about 3 or 4 years now and have only been able to put on a couple of pounds. I get so many annoying comments from thicker people, especially if they're relatives. Some examples I frequently hear are "You're so skinny, you need do some push ups" or "Dang boy, do you eat" etc. I've recently figured out I had stomach problems, so hopefully I can gain more weight whenever I these stomach issues resolved. But anyway, it is annoying to have problems gaining weight because it makes you feel like time spent on working out is useless and on top of that many people mock you for not being able to gain as much weight as them, even though you eat and work out plenty.
+MobbinMic Being on the other side subjects you to the ever growing chorus of "lose some weight you're too fat!" Granted we seem to show a lot less of the weight, but Asians pick up on that hidden weight and can tell that you're actually 180 lbs and only 5'7".
+Rufei Yeah I do hear Asian families do that, that's why I was saying I'm not Asian. In my families(black and white), it would be really rude for someone to comment on someone else being overweight, but it's acceptable for the thicker people to talk down about the thinner ones, which gets really annoying.
love the posters in the background :) X-Files, princess bride, star trek, Forrest gump (this one kinda out of place....), supernatural (♡!!), and Zelda :)
Hahahaha.... that last one is so tru it hurts... I have heard my dad talk about tons of our relatives in Canada and south of our country that we've never even met....
+mrzack888 Ehm no... I always get suspected at the airport for buying imitation goods or for bringing in weird food stuff or drugs. The customs police always stop me.
Lemme clarify a few things: You are not making money from wedding. It's like the an investment or debt depending on whether you cash it earlier or later. When you cash out, remember you need to give money to other Asian friends' wedding too.
about that last one, my family went to china and, my parents told me to call all the people we met auntie or uncle so i never knew if we were relatives or not.
Back in the days before there were photos on driver licenses it was easy for Asians with typical Chinese names to drive on someone else's driver license. Hard for the police to distinguish male from female names. And many had proportional body weight unlike westerners.
Nice! hahaha here in Brazil we eat rice everyday, parents pay your college and sometimes we have uncles or aunts that actually is close friends of our family.
The ageing thing is true. When I was 15-16 my body was becoming a women's body(boobs, hips etc) but my face looked like a 13yr old. Even to this day people get confused.
The metabolism and age though 😂 So i am a little less then 5ft I weight about 90 pounds Am 15 years old And i legit look like 10 years old and can eat half of a LARGE pizza (piled up wirh meats and all) all by myself and i dont excercise. LIKE WTH ALL THAT GONE! (though at times it makes my face break out ≖﹏≖)
Well, that is all so true...Especially with the wedding thing , my sister literally made 3x the amount they have paid for on their wedding bash, which was, to begin with costs a small fortune. Her husband thought that all our relatives are rich because all the money gifts came from our side of the family.
I think asians suddenly look old when they hit a certain age is because they let themselves go. I would not let myself do that as I age. I'm going to make sure I am exercising, taking care of my skin, etc.
Also, traditionally women in Asian cultures didn't have the need to keep looking beautiful after marriage and getting kids, so they switched from the "beautiful young maiden" mode to "Asian housewife" mode. These days many people want to look beautiful even after having kids, so you can see plenty of Asian ladies working hard to preserve their beauty even in the old age and continuing to look really nice as a result.
+internetgirl100 Everyone get's old one day at least when you are lucky enough. Some look older faster then others. When I was younger and others tried to guess my age they would hit always on the right spot or thought I was older -_-' (try to think that it was the glasses and an already grownup looking body at young age that made me look older ;p) .. I personally don't like it when people in their 50's try to look like they are 25 but it's just my opinion :)..
+internetgirl100 That's genetic I think. Like Caucasian ages gradually throughout the years. I think it is a total advantage, cuz I would rather age suddenly at 60 than aging from 30-60 and suffering daily when looking at the mirror.
6:53 Having lost like 30 pounds in 4 months when I lived in Japan and ate a lot of such dishes, I can attest to this diet plan. (Especially since I gained it all back and then some after coming back to the USA.)
I don't where you got the whole "Asians stay thin" thing, because I go to a school where there are a lot of Asians, and there are plenty of fat and obese Asians there. I wish I was kidding, but I'm not.
+boo yah not necessarily. Depends where you're from. My elders would talk endlessly about people who have gained weight or unmarried fat relatives who could probably some the issues by simply losing weight
+boo yah not necessarily. Depends where you're from. My elders would talk endlessly about people who have gained weight or unmarried fat relatives who could probably some the issues by simply losing weight
+boo yah Not necessarily. I'm Chinese living in southeast Asia and fat isn't seen as attractive at all. My elders gossip endlessly about those who gain weight and think that some unattached relatives could improve their singlehood status by losing weight. Fat = beauty is probably from some other era centuries ago, like perhaps when famine and poverty was rampant. Everyone wants to be skinny today. All the hottest stars from Korea, China, Taiwan, Japan, South East Asia, etc are all skinny.
For me it wasn't always easy and it's still not. the bullying got even at a stage that I had nightmares about the bullies. And I'm adopted, so we don't do Chinese traditions. But I'm thankful for my good body. 😇
I'm half Asian and American so my Japanese mom: "After college why don't u live with us?!" My American dad:"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO" me: "wow..thanks for reacting so nicely dad.."
The last think is so true!! I recently arrived China for studies purposes and met my cousins I haven't seen in 10 years. They were pretty close to each other! I really got a little jealous and wished my bro and me have grow up with them. Also, Chinese marriage are freaking awesome!! You really wish to get married or someone to get married and invite you hahaha
the family one is really true! My family has some really close neighbors and I call their grandmother my own and their grandfather own or even uncle (whaatt?).
So grateful. 🥰🥰🥰 Im not Chinese but im Asian as well. And i agree with you. I eat rice, i look younger than my age, my parents want me to live with them forever, i didn't pay anything for my education, my wedding was paid for, i had allowance in school, i am given money up to now, i have lots of relatives, etc. What can i say? 😅😅😅
In Malaysia, we have a lot cultures and that leads to tons of celebration all year around, which means that we get a lot of red pocket money or 'angpao' as we call it here. We get it like around like 4 times a year or less mostly during main celebrations, so thats like yr total allowance for the year in a way... 😂😂
Jonathan Hsieh Well, martial arts goal is so you have control on yourself, not to beat up people. And by the way you are talking you obviously never learn martial arts.
I live in the south (namely north Alabama) and there is a lot of stuff the is similar to the south. Share food and how we act toward our family and friends how are like family 😁
One advantage (only for me) I’m the only Vietnamese person in 3rd grade! In 2nd grade there was a guy in 4th grade that was also Vietnamese but he didn’t talk as well as I did, but he went to 5th grade in the middle school and couldn’t stay in elementary school, so I was literally the ONLY Vietnamese person in my school. There’s also 2 Filipino kids in my school, which I guess there’re *T H R E E* Asians in my school. But I’m the only Vietnamese person, so it makes me kinda unique I guess.
I already relate to all, I mean, My mom has like 6 other siblings, including her. And my dad has like 8 siblings, including him. No need to look for a person when you got lots of UNCLES AND AUNTS ALSO, EVERYBODY I am related to is either my uncle, aunt, brother, or SISTER. Like my cousins, they're "brothers and sisters" to me.
I've just recently discovered your UA-cam channel. It's really educational and I love your humor. I'm a Texan and my friends wonder how I know so much about Asian culture. :) I'm starting to learn Mah-Jongg -- a game of Chinese origin. Anyway, you 2 guys are adorable.
My grandparents spoil me and my sibling more than my parents when they were kids! And since we live in New Zealand they also had both a western style wedding and a Chinese one lol. Also my grandpa has 11 sibling so I get a lot of money, but I called my non-asian friends parents auntie or uncle as well lmao
Everything here is true.
Oh yeah, Asian parents want you to eat a lot but then call you fat later. I ate four bowls of beef noodles and my grandma was like, "You eat so less! Eat more!!" And then I said I was 46kg and she said, "So fat."
Strawberry Cloud So true 😂. That's me too
Asian parent logic
einsteinium omg, yassss, this is soo true. My mom complains when I’m not eating, but then she goes like you pig, you need to stop eating soo much, I was like “I’ve just ate one spoon of cooked rice...”
BTS!!! ARMY 💜
So true
Another advantage of being asian is BEING ABLE TO RELATE to the Double Chen show!!!!!
WeeabooWannabe yassss hahahahahaha
This is true
Yes! Always relate... mostly...
Some is totally different...
THATS TRUEEE
The advantage of being Asian for me was that I never got jumped at school. I was the only Asian in my school from elementary to high school and for sure I got called names. But the bullies never dared to touch me because of the stereotype that all Asians know Kungfu.
I seriously got waited up by a group of guys after school one time. I just put up my fists and made some Bruce Lee noises and nobody dared to swing first, they all chickened out eventually. That bluff kept me unharmed all the way to college. ^^ I even made friends with some of the guy bullies thanks to that.
***** I don't know if I can call those kids back then ignorant, because on the off chance that the Asian kid really did know kungfu they were smart to not get into that fight.
My story is only proof that there is a good thing to bad stereotypes. But it sure did save my behind. XD
Haha it's a really advantage for boys more than girls, but it makes me remember a story of my mom's friend. One guy tried to steal something of his restaurant and he followed the guy and that guy was all chickened out and today that guy respects him and always give greetings to him haha
LinsZHZ I'm a girl so that bluff works in all cases. XD
are you serious??? LMFAO
+ladama yes
Sometimes I pretend I'm from overseas and can't speak English so I don't need to talk to people :P
+masterbrendan My grandma used to do this to telemarketers. It was hilarious.
+masterbrendan That's probably not healthy... When random strangers say good-morning to me, greet me or ask me for help, kind of makes my day better. Then again when you don't want to talk people people can see it through your body language and wouldn't even bother approaching you.
+masterbrendan I do this in games !
masterbrendan I tried that once in Primary school XD
masterbrendan lmao this is genius i should do this sometime
I agree with that student's loan thing. My parents paid everything for my high school & college education. I haven't taken a penny from a bank to pay for my studies.
Good for you some of us are not that lucky because for us both parents work and they are too greedy to help us with our education
IKR. Asian parents sacrifice themselves to pay for our college tuition. They work extra hours for us. Thank mom n dad.
That's true and we continue that with our own kids and hopefully their kids someday.
for the Age thing, if your a kpop fan you know what im talking about. Luhan the former EXO member he looks like he is 15 or 18, but he is only 25.
Are you the Koreaboo I'm looking for?
LaughingMatter what do you mean by Koreaboo
I know EXACTLY what you mean :D
fam u here too
or girls day sojin who look 20 but is actually 30
I am not one of those Asian who can eat and not gain weight. I gain weight drinking water 😢
i feel ya
Haha you must be living in the West? :)
Same >:I
I literally eat so much I feel like throwing up and I'm still slim
Me to
In Singapore we call even the elderly cleaners or coffee lady "Aunty"/"Uncle". When our Aussie/American/British friends came to visit and heard us go "Aunty! One coffee please" they were shocked! They truly thought that the coffee lady was our aunt!
Same in India
Yeah that's our Culture here in our beloved Asia. We learn how to respect to elders even if they are not really part of our family. Calling them aunt and uncles is a sign of respect. That's what we are. And I am proud to be Asian
Every Chinese family has a wechat group😂😂
Rachel Aaron 😂😂😂yess
My family (Japanese) have a line group together which is basically the same lol
😂😂😂
My family has a Whatsapp group 😆
Rachel Aaron yes
Disadvantage: you'll have to do all that for your children as well.
Must have been a bug, at least it was accidentally.Of course I'm not going to post the exact same comment twice.
I deleted the other one. Thanks.
I was thinking that when he said, "We get money/kids get money," and I thought, "Hmm... you aren't kids anymore..."
We Asians look so young for our age because we avoid and hate the sun in general?
Not really, I go in the sun all the time because I do archery, and I'm still being complimented about how young I look, even by other Asians.
meh, im Asian & i look older than my age~
my friend told me that i look at least 19 20 when i was 16 lol xD old af
When I was 12, people thought I was 16 and got held back 😫
Maybe, but I think it's just your genes. In my country the folk with more asian ancestry tend to live longer too, and you got a lot of qigong yoga going on in asia, that stuff makes you live longer
I mean. .. I look kinda younger than my age but my 3 years younger sister looks older. people mistake us for twins.
My parents always say to me " Grow up and become someone important then come back and take care/live with us"…… I look at them all the time in disbelief.
same
Kasumi Yang same lol
Kasumi Yang that's brutal man
Rubéna Gurung r u Nepalese?
Utsav Yogi yep, born and raised, why?
That Average Asian Aging Process diagram had me in tears LOL it's so true though
Yeah this is soooooo true
I always thought that I was the only one who think like that but now I GUESS EVERY ASIAN does..
Whenever i watched those English/American kids in tv EVEN my age I always thought they look soo older than me........and stuff
Until ONE day I realize they just happen to have a matured looks at a early age and then BAAMM this looks of young LOOKING stops there
UNLIKE US......WHOLE OF A SUDDEN OUR OLD LOOKING AGE HIT US😥😔
same

i actually think mike does look a little like jackie chan 😂
haha ya, the other guy (I forget his name) doesn't look like Jet Li, but he looks more like Jet Li than Jackie Chan because of his more narrow face.
Me too.
XD
My mom is 45, she looks 30. But when she wears glasses, she looks 20.
Wow
SAME!
Same everyone asks her is she 28 or something
my moms 36 people say she looks 18 people also think shes my sister
My parents have been mistaken for my siblings. Either I look super old or they look super young
You know, the more I watch your videos about Asian families the more I wonder if Italy is secretly in Asia after all. Because you pretty much describe what it is to have an Italian family.
asian moms be like "EAT MORE YOUR GETTING SO SKINNY!!!"
Lol
So true..
and after you eat its like "YOU SO FAT WHY YOU EAT SO MUCH"
Wonhoes Ovaries ikr XD
FTGIRIBOY :3333 and the end

GameIsLife noooooooooooooo
GameIsLife nooooooooooooooo
Don't worry, it only works on Asians. I eat rice almost every meal, and I'm getting fat. XD
I'm from the Philippines and even though you guys referred mostly on chinese culture every single thing in this list also apply to my country 😂
Wahh so true heyyyooowww
Also In Turkey
im not from the Philippines but im half Filipino and since my moms side is from the Philippines i live a whole asian life XD we dont eat american food a lot but when we do i usually want asian food and my gma makes homemade asian food it's awesome XD
phillines Japan Taiwan, Singapore, Vietnam, Thai, Korea rest of the world stolen ideas from China whether it be invention or culture. A phillipino friend of my ate tofu with soysauce or fish sauce.
Tama.
"immune to white rice and noodles because that's all we eat"
I went almost the entire of my first year of university eating noodles for lunch and chicken with rice for dinner 6 days a week.
For many Indonesians, rice is eaten 3x a day everyday, every year of their lives except babies.
I feel like Asians eat a lot more homemade foods, that's why they don't gain that much weight. My family is European and eats ALOT but we pretty much only cook at home and pack homemade lunches.
I hope I will get healthier, then, because I have been cooking at home a lot this year.
So not true
I use all my red envelope money to buy potatoes and rice every time ever year.
+Viet Lee lol
Wow! Viet Lee you are EVERYWHERE
Scott Saucerman I'm Asian
+Scott Saucerman sorry I meant that as a joke...(that was not sarcastic)
+Scott Saucerman BTW that was kinda pointed at me as well cuz I'm Asian and I'm blind as fuhhhhh

Eliana or mom, dad, grandma, and grandpa or else we’ll be shunned off by the Asian community

3 Dollar Suga Kookies Hewo Jin *Hides in the dark alley*
Give me that metabolism please because i'm Asian and i'm fat
And also a lot of Asian kids get bullied at school actually
Linh Le ikr, I need it too
Linh Le SAME 😂😂😂
The job hunt process:
>Become 16 and then you can work.
>Turns 16
>Finish HS and then you can work
>Graduates HS
>Study this and then you can work
>Takes classes
>Major in this and then you can work
>Takes major
>Graduate college and then you can work
>Graduates college
>Get a Masters and then you can work
>Gets Masters degree
>5-7 years experience and then you can work
Parents be like "Why don't you have a job yet?"
You guys are on point with all your points. Especially with the wedding. "Bring no money you lose face. Bring money you gain face."
i dont really think Australia counts in that first one since i know tones of adults still living with there parents and i wont be expected to move out either
unless its only the people around me
when they say western, they just mean America, in Europe, lots of people live with their parents until their 30's
However, we do need a support system and I would prefer that my family will be my support system.
pixieflair Australia Is Not Asia Its Australia And Oceania
i meant from the western point of view thats why i thought it didnt include Australia i know australia isint in Asia
the wedding thing applies to my culture too.. the parents usually pay for everything.. and people almost always bring you presents.. you can pretty much get most of your appliances given to you.. and a lot of money.. and if your family is rich enough.. houses.. cars.. timeshare holiday packages.. land.. even businesses and jobs can be given to you as wedding presents.. some people pretty much get set up for life.
I'm Spanish (NorthWest)and I can relate to almost everything said here. Galician parents are very similar to Chinese ones!
Aw, I really liked the part about family :)
Now he knows I am older.^^
The rice?
Rice doesn't make people fat. Fat does
i know right, after every wedding i go to ( i am from afghanistan) the bride always has like 5 gold necklace , bracelets up to her elbows, and fingers full of rings
Not just any instrument, the PIANO
or the violin
YESS
I still live with my mom. I moved out for 2 years while my brother and his wife lived with her. When he decided to move out, it was also “decided” that I’d move back home so mom wouldn’t be alone. I actually don’t mind at all. Mom took care of me and now I can take care of her. God, that sounds so Asian, doesn’t it?
You look like Jackie Chan and Jet Li?, #LOL. . . so true.
Do u listen to chinese or other asain songs, i'm thinking maybe u can make comparison between asain and western music and culture behind that.
here in italy it is basically the same,we're really attached to our family
These guys are like the Fung Bros, but less hipster
True
Truuue
True
Totally true and agreed man!
instrument: trumpet (it was a choice because i wanted to be part of the cool kids)
before college i had planned to move out while in highschool, even my parents was fine with it. i didnt really care for money then because i dont use alot for 1 person if i reallly tried. for weddings i was told to give money even when i was like 5. my parents gave it to me to hand it to the bride and groom. when it was chinese new year, almost everyyear i get red pocket money i was to give it to my parents because they said that i had to give it back and they will give it back to them for me which was very confusing. like they gave it to me... then i have to give it back.. like give back what they gave me. for metabolism its like.. high average. like if i eat a lot alot then i gain but if i just eat like.. a little under alot then i dont gain much. then again i get anxiety when im late ect so i tend to walk very fast and i alwayd try compete with someone who works harder than me. people never messed with asians because we were looked majority like weak and shy people. plus in this areas diversity it was majority asians so we all just got along. for my family. i only know like...1 persons name but only because he taught me work experience at his work place. my family tree is huge and all over the world. a lot of my relatives are like rich and they go traveling alot. i never see/hear them at work. i almost never speak to my relatives either because of the language barrier. its werid when i speak cantonese or mandarin i have an american accent but when i speak English to my parents i have a chinese accent but to my friends i dont have an accent.
I'm sure they mean southeast Asian. Having it as Chinese wouldn't really cut it as they often touch on Korea, Thailand etc.
Jefferson da Silva It’s called Eastern Asian and not all of us have almond shaped eyes...
Mike needs to keep eating the hot pot, because it is definitely working. :D
are the food adventures going to be on this channel now?
I hope so
Mike takes us to eat a lot also on strictly dumpling, I hope there are more food adventures with dan and Yi here though.
Yes more food videos! I need to live vicariously!!
As far as big family gatherings, there are different Western cultures that do it, and some that don't. Italians and the Irish are well known for having huge get togethers frequently. People who live in smaller towns and the countryside do too from basically any family background.
Best video i seen so far. Asian have strong family ties. I am proud to be Asian. :-)
agree. I am proud to be Asian.
MobbinMic
Just goes to show that no matter where you are on the spectrum, there's always going to be some hate going on.
love the posters in the background :) X-Files, princess bride, star trek, Forrest gump (this one kinda out of place....), supernatural (♡!!), and Zelda :)
My doctor literally said. Eat more hamburgers, you need to gain some weight.
officiallyrorie SAAAMMEEEE
hahahaah
I can think of plenty of ways to gain weight, but mostly it is unhealthy food that is better to avoid.
Hahahaha.... that last one is so tru it hurts... I have heard my dad talk about tons of our relatives in Canada and south of our country that we've never even met....
10. You don't get profiled by cops
+mrzack888 No stop and search :)
+mrzack888 Ehm no... I always get suspected at the airport for buying imitation goods or for bringing in weird food stuff or drugs. The customs police always stop me.
Everyone does
Lemme clarify a few things: You are not making money from wedding. It's like the an investment or debt depending on whether you cash it earlier or later. When you cash out, remember you need to give money to other Asian friends' wedding too.
Me- eats more than my friends
My friends gain weight
Me- loses 2 pounds
about that last one, my family went to china and, my parents told me to call all the people we met auntie or uncle so i never knew if we were relatives or not.
This is very similar to being irish :D
Back in the days before there were photos on driver licenses it was easy for Asians with typical Chinese names to drive on someone else's driver license. Hard for the police to distinguish male from female names. And many had proportional body weight unlike westerners.
omg yesssss Rice is the fountain of youth! :)
Nice! hahaha here in Brazil we eat rice everyday, parents pay your college and sometimes we have uncles or aunts that actually is close friends of our family.
I got 200 dollars for New Years. Life as an Asian is AWESOME.
Mini Pony lol ikr!! I get like 100 each from grandparents and at least 20 from each aunt and uncle and my family is huge!
Mini Pony Right! I got $300 from the red pocket!
The ageing thing is true. When I was 15-16 my body was becoming a women's body(boobs, hips etc) but my face looked like a 13yr old. Even to this day people get confused.
My mom use to go on WeChat 24/7 she never payed attention to me then.
awesome video totally true!! love you guys
The metabolism and age though 😂
So i am a little less then 5ft
I weight about 90 pounds
Am 15 years old
And i legit look like 10 years old and can eat half of a LARGE pizza (piled up wirh meats and all) all by myself and i dont excercise. LIKE WTH ALL THAT GONE!
(though at times it makes my face break out ≖﹏≖)
That's not healthy bud
My doc says I’m healthy even though my diet is burgers and *some* healthy things (fruit)
Well, that is all so true...Especially with the wedding thing , my sister literally made 3x the amount they have paid for on their wedding bash, which was, to begin with costs a small fortune. Her husband thought that all our relatives are rich because all the money gifts came from our side of the family.
my metabolism is also amazing, even when working out my body saves energy.....so i can only gain weight xD
Oh My Gosh! The one that said your parents want you to live with them is SO true!
In asian families, being fat is seen as a good thing.
Natasha Hillocks-Chambers I eat almost everything on the tables at restaurants and I'm only 80 lbs
.... Wow
And I am proud to be Asian, and love you all Asian brothers.
student loans are so american lol In europe, latin america and many asian countries..... free college!
well not here in europe...
saicogirl1997 where do you live?
+haruno21 Netherlands
saicogirl1997 and really there's no free and/or cheap universities there? I'm really surprised!
+haruno21 not anymore, they suddenly thought student loans are fun i guess....... but im not sure about other European countries?
JACKSON WANG!!!! RISE FOR LIFE!!!
the family one is really true! My family has some really close neighbors and I call their grandmother my own and their grandfather own or even uncle (whaatt?).
I want to marry an Asian girl so bad.
ate McDonald for a week, lost 6lbs. Asian.
true
I'm a quarter Asian and my grandfather is from Hong Kong and he spoils me more than my other side of my family
最大的好处难道不是我们没有体味。。。
Vi Vi what
I got a good one for you! My daughter is half Laotian, and hates rice!! She has just now started eating rice, and kinda likes it!
not all asian are chinese gyus...
Suvam Magar but most asians are Indian and Chinese
In Malaysia, we have a lot cultures and that leads to tons of celebration all year around, which means that we get a lot of red pocket money or 'angpao' as we call it here. We get it like around like 4 times a year or less mostly during main celebrations, so thats like yr total allowance for the year in a way... 😂😂
But a lot of Asian kids at one point or another, learn martial arts. Or at least, have someone that protect you with that martial arts.
Jonathan Hsieh Well, martial arts goal is so you have control on yourself, not to beat up people. And by the way you are talking you obviously never learn martial arts.
Every time my family goes back to Japan, the rest of our entire family gathers just to greet us. That's some loyalty
I live in the south (namely north Alabama) and there is a lot of stuff the is similar to the south. Share food and how we act toward our family and friends how are like family 😁
You guys are hilarious! Also I love the posters you have hanging behind you!!
One advantage (only for me)
I’m the only Vietnamese person in 3rd grade!
My mum's ex-colleague's family babysat me when I was young during school days and even now I still call them auntie, uncle, grandma and grandpa.
I already relate to all, I mean, My mom has like 6 other siblings, including her. And my dad has like 8 siblings, including him. No need to look for a person when you got lots of UNCLES AND AUNTS
ALSO, EVERYBODY I am related to is either my uncle, aunt, brother, or SISTER.
I'm part Asian and American, so do I get half benefits?
