The main value to this video was knowing that only two screws need to be removed. Since most modern cars snap together, it is important to know what screws and what snaps. My wife was quoted $300 for the part plus labor to fix it at the dealership. She got an OEM part on Amazon for $90 and, thanks to this video, I had it replaced in about five minutes.
Took longer to watch half the video than to completely change the bulb. Thanks!
Video was perfect! Fixed the brake light with no problem. If I had followed the manual I would’ve broken both pins. Thank you!
Thank you! Glad it helped!
Tip: I used a plastic wedge inside of an old t-shirt and slowly banged it into the gap with my hand. That method worked the best by far.
Great idea! Thank you!!!
Thanks for this tutorial. Woke up this morning to a shattered left side brake assembly from a stray bullet last night.SMH
You’re welcome…and WOW that is a new one 😳
I've changed two times. I use a think plastic back in its folded form to slide in along the edge opening after the two screws are removed. One bag from the top, and one bag from the bottom, slide them until they can't go further, alternatively pull the bags and it really worked for me.😊
Thank you, I am going out tomorrow and needed this replaced asap!
Glad it helped!
Your video was very helpful to me. Wish me luck, I’m about to change my taillight!
Glad it was helpful! And good luck 👍🏽
Thank you for the video, bulb safely replaced. The tip for the putty knife. I only had a metal one but I put tape on it to not scratch my car. It took a little more of an effort but it popped out. Thank you
Great idea taping up the metal putty knife and I'm glad you got the bulb replaced!
I used a metal 6” spackle blade inside an reusable shopping bag , worked good , thanks
Thanks - this video saved my tail light from getting all scratched
Great to hear!
Thank you for the putty knife trick!!! I'm pretty sure I would've been on the broken lens list!!
Easiest brake light fix ever thanks to you. Without knowing the assembly is secured by pins on the opposite side of screws would have been problematic. Thank you.
Thank you so much!!!! I’ve been fighting with my tail light for about 45 minutes. Just got it off thanks to this video!
Fantastic! Great to hear!
Thank you so much for making this video! I started to disassemble my tail light the way the manual said to and could see it wasn’t going to work. Found your very informative video and voila, got it right out and changed the bulb. Yay!😁
Brah, thankyou! The putty knife trick is GOLD . I know jack about this stuff and I was still able to do it in less than 15 mins.
Glad the putty knife trick worked for you!
thanks for the vid - couldn't get mine off this helped.
Glad it helped
Thanks for the info! Fixed my break light and no damage under 1 minute!!!!!
Thanks for the tutorial... I was getting frustrated and probably WOULD have broken it!
hehe nice! I was honestly about to do the same LOL!
After seeing a couple of videos using everything from a forked metal tool to a freakin' claw hammer, I found your video. Simple effective application of force exactly where needed. That's the kind of help that makes youtube so valuable so thanks. Job done quickly. No damage.
Awesome, glad it was helpful! I'm pretty shocked that Honda let the manual go to production with those incorrect directions.
Thank you so much ! I was over here struggling and thank God I had a putty knife !!! Worked perfectly!
Very useful, thanks for posting, the fit line was so tight I needed to use a metal putty knife with a couple of business cards Scotch taped either side of the metal blade to prevent scratches, one light assembly popped out so quick it fell and scratched the color-coded fender so beware and tuck an old towel underneath when removing. Be sure the wiring loom is clipped back in position when refitting to avoid annoying rattles, clips just above the fender engagement tab at the bottom and pushes into a pinch-hold further up.
Brake bulb successfully changed. Thanks for making the video.
Glad it worked for you!
Steven Scannapieco part number would be nice for the bulb
Needed to change brake light bulb in daughters Pilot. Watched your video and couldn't have been easier. Thanks, great job!!!
One of the most informative videos, (without making me feel dumb) for poping out the back light of my Pilot. I have, just like he said broken pins in the past. I guess you could say I am old school and just now realizing the amount of help that people have on here. Thank You for making this video. Very informative, well said! 5 *****
video is horrible. an almost 6 minute video for a 30 second fix
James Fixxit
Followed your video and got it done in 10 minutes. Not mechanically inclined either.
THANKS !
Thanks man. Saved me from cracking the whole tail light cover.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video. It helped me change out the bulb without breaking anything. Good job!
Thank you SOOOOOO much! I was doing like the manual said and nothing but frustration and a small chip in my lens Grrrrrrrr
Watched your video and had it changed in 30 seconds.
A million thank yous!!!!
Good to hear! Thanks for watching!
Nicely done video. Especially helpful in that the manual doesn’t have correct instruction.
Just what I needed. Job done in 3 minutes
Thanks - this was very helpful!
I found it helpful to remove the light assembly by moving the scraper next to one of the securing pins before pulling forward. If you haven't removed the light assembly before, you may need to gently tap the scraper in (as the space between the rear pillar and light assembly is very tight - at least it was on mine).
Thanks for the tip!
Thanks so much I was able to change out the lightbulbs and I know I would’ve broken or cracked the taillight if it wasn’t for your video. Thanks.
Great to hear that you were able to replace the bulb with no problems! 👌🏽
really helpful tips on removing the taillight thanks
Great illustration ..thank you for the help it works perfectly

Awesome! Glad to hear!
Thank you 👏🏻👏🏻.. I just changed out my right brake light .. I was wondering why it was so hard to pop out.?? Glad you had this out here 😊
Good to hear, and I'm glad you were able to pop that light out! :)
thanks for the putty knife trick!!! I'm pretty sure I would've been on the broken lens list!!
Awesome tip. Everything worked as instructed. I had to use a metal puddy knife, the plastic one broke. Use a rubber mallet to impact loose the 2 pins once I got the knife in place. Thanks again.
Awesome! Thanks for watching
Duuude, thank you! I watched so many damn videos on how to do this and they all sucked. Wish me luck, I'm going to go give a shot now.
Great tips. Worked perfectly
Glad it helped
Thanks Bri for your time.

Thank you for this video! Super helpful. Successfully changed my brake lights 😊.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you !!!
I knew it might break
Stopped what I was doing and ran right to UA-cam university
Thank you!! It helped me doing the job easier than the car instruction manual
You're welcome!
Thanks. Worked. Great vid!!!
Thanks for this! I previously changed a brake light on my wife's 2013 Pilot and cracked the assembly following the stupid manual lol
Yup, whoever wrote (and approved the manual) is 👎
Thanks for the info...I found the putty knife to be a little too flexible and used a metal carpenter’s square to detach the rear light assembly. Also the replacement brake like model # would be helpful I used the Sylvania part 7443...
Thank you, this was very helpful.
Worked like a charm.
Glad it helped! Thank you!
thank you, sir. easy simple. done!
Thanks for making this!

Good video! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! That was very clear and you covered it well!
You're welcome!
Thanks. That was a huge help.
Glad it was helpful!
Great tip! Thanks
Thanks, for the tutorial
Important to know that it pulls straight out instead of rotating out on a hinge. I was able to get my fingers in the crack and pull it off. There is a rubber gasket that came off the body that was a little pain to put back in. Set it in the bottom and work it up, but the wires are short and if you pull on the fixture at all, it will pop right back out.
Yup, I was super close to snapping the two pins, following the manual lol!
You the man, sir. Thank you
Very helpful, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video buddy
Very helpful 👍
You're welcome. Thanks! 👍
Used gollila tape: stick it to the outer side where he stuck the putty knife and yank on the tape. No scratches and pulls right off.
That's a great alternative way to remove these!
Excellent, very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Hell yeah. Nice job, man.
Thanks!

Hey need advice / tips on replacing the fog lights on my 2013 Honda Pilot.
Thanks
You're welcome!
You need to mention to wear gloves when handling the bulbs. Not wearing gloves will reduce the life of the bulb significantly. Even the minute oil on your hands will get on the bulb and have significant effect.
Amor I love you the luxury
That’s true for halogen bulbs. Brake lights don’t get that hot. Nonetheless, best practice not to fondle them unnecessarily.
Stfu
@@kevinbushracing58 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@aebrown828 I’ll fondle my own brakelights how and when I please, thank you very much. At every traffic light. Lovingly.
awesome channel here! full view!
I placed a tile trowel behind it. I hit mine standing at the back passenger door, facing the rear of the vehicle, and hit the trowel. I broke my plastic inserts, but I tried and tried and tried to get mine out, and nothing was working. Thanks for the video.
