I subscribed, not because your doing Christmas baubels, but because of your personality! You won me over when you threw the empty box on the floor and you said "I'll get the trash later!". I loved that, as I find most artists of any kind to be a little controlling, lol! No offense to anyone... I'm a control freak inmy studio where I make skin care for the masses, lol! ❤❤❤ I just recently bought 2 new Christmas Trees (one of the fancy pre-lit kind. One is green for my livingroom, one is flocked white fir my entry porch) since I got new trees for the first time in 20 years, I decided to make as many of the ornaments as possible for both Trees. I'm using Acrylic pour, acrylic pour with cells, alcohol ink, rice paper designs, glitter ornaments with rub on transfers and some other diy hacks. I bought 175 balls in two sizes, 100 of the flattened rounds in 1 size. 100 heart shaped in two sizes, and 50 wooden round ornaments. I've been at it a week and have about half done! I'm a little shocked how fast the poured ornaments went. In a week, I got my regular pour and my glitter ornaments done! I start my cell ornaments this week. The flattened rounds. I'm doing two sides, so it may take a while, lol! Then I'll do my rice paper and my transfer ornaments done. My diy's I've saved for last! The inside tree is a more upscale tree, my porch tree is going to be done in pastel gingerbread, cupcakes, candies, and pastel ornaments. Hopefully, by Decemver, 1st, I'll have everything done, and I can decorate my house! I love and adore Christmas! I also love you and your channel!!! ❤😂❤
Wow Jill, you are enterprising... AND finding time to check out a number of videos!!! I appreciate the compliment about personality! I think the nicest thing people say when they come in the shop is that I'm just like my videos! Not that I know another way to be, but I hope it means that anything I' doing is approachable. I want people to jump in and give something a try. All too often we hold ourselves back from trying something new out of the fear that we won't be good at it. How can we be good at something we've never done? That's why I leave my mess-ups in the videos... no one is perfect, and I'm certainly far from it, but if you're enjoying the 'doing'... perfection shouldn't even enter into the equation!!
I love your personality too QueenBee! I am a new subscriber that has been paint pouring as a hobby for a couple years. I have DecoArt ready to pour paints that I am going to use to paint pour on the outside of plastic ornaments this year. Did you say you sealed the first bulb with Polyacrylic spray? Do you think a liquid Polyacrylic "painted on" would work also? I definitely want to seal the painted ornament surfaces for longevity & added gloss.
It was worth a shot! I love how it turned out, but painting it one of the pour colours as a base first and then doing the pour would work best to ensure coverage of the awkward places… and then just let the pour do it’s thing!
So simple and satisfying. Love your relaxed and go with it personality. And my craft room always looks like a tornado went through it. No time for cleaning when you have all the time to craft!!😊
I would tidy it first but... it would be a lie, and only for the camera... and that's just not me. That's what customers to the shop see... thats what you see. I do have 'plans' for more storage systems (which will help because not having anywhere to put things is part of the problem) but I'm likely to just bring in more 'stuff' then!!!
I enjoy doing alcohol inks on the inside because there is no pouring and mess. All you have to do is let them dry and then pour the white latex paint inside and let that excess drain out and it usually dries overnight it’s not as messy and it looks amazing. When you add the white latex paint you never know what you’re gonna get and it’s on the inside so you can touch it right away.
I prefer it on the inside also, though lots of people do the outside... though then that requires sealing. My favourite part too is adding the white and seeing the colours come to life... Paint pouring with the acrylics was a fun activity but I personally have troubles with the amount of paint waste!
I was surprised with how well the deer turned out. Again... in retrospect.... the deer would have been easier if I had base coated him with one of the colours first so I didn't need to be so obsessed getting a perfect 'pour'
Well... I'm glad you found me too! I fully admit I fully embrace spending more time crafting and less time cleaning. Not sure what my excuse is at home... !!!!!
Oh my word… these are gorgeous! The deer is stunning! Thank you for showing this process, I tend to stay away from the messy stuff because it makes me cringe BUT you had a really good set-up for the mess. I may have to give this a try myself! 🎄
Ha Ha!!! I like a 'controlled' mess! it was all contained and an easy clean up... though if the grandkids had been here for it I think all bets would have been off regardless of my prep!
New Subscriber here from GA🥰 So, Miss or Mrs Queen 🐝. 🥰Love that name! I was looking up Christmas bulbs to make this year for our tree, and stumbled across your video. Looking forward to more throw flinging!!🤣😂🤣😂 God Bless🙏🏻❤️
Welcome Mary Ellen!! Sheesh! Box throwing... I hate to think what else I likely do during videos but... nothing is scripted and I just do the craft/project... I don't edit out mistakes so... that either works for some or not... but I think you learn as much from me messing something up!
Hello from South Alabama. I started with paint poured ornaments last year. This year I think I want to try the Alcohol Ink on the inside like you showed in a previous video. Thank you so much.
@@QueenBeeCreationsThank you for these amazing videos and ideas! I’m making alcohol ink ornaments this year and wondered if the pourable acrylic would work instead of using regular acrylic paint and water?
I love the metallics. I mixed metallics with colors and the metallics seemed to recede to the underneath and did not show up. Maybe they are heavier so they sank? I think yours are beautiful.
It's possible that they were heavier... perhaps try layering them next time, ensuring you finish with some of the metallics on top so they don't have time to sink?
I've seen these paints used as dips. Do you think this pouring method was easier than the dipping? These are gorgeous! I've shown these to my grandson and he wants to do this for our annual Christmas gift craft.
I would think I’d need a lot more of the paint in order to be able to dip items.. especially something like the deer… I’d have to fill a container full enough to submerge it. Plus I’ve then used all those paints together so leftovers would be ‘mixed’ and not available to use separately for other projects. So unless you’re making tons if one colour combination I think the pour over is more economical.
OMGeee! I wish I could give multiple likes on this one, LOL. Absolutely stunning, Cindy. I noticed the one that had black spots, or specks...and I had wondered while you were pouring if you could take specific colors and just add a drop here or there to manipulate a bit. An eye dropper would work for that, I bet. BUT, it saddens me to think about all that excess paint being thrown out. So, if you can save it before it dries or starts to set up, you can reuse it? Is that what I understood you saying? I like the shiny finish but I really like the matte finish as well. Good Job! Hummm, 200 glass bulbs? I think I see a class in your future! I bet these would be good sellers, too.
I was distressed about the 'wasted' paint too Sharon, which is why I scooped some up and found the acrylic reindeer to use some of it up! In the description I mentioned that for weird shapes like the deer I should have painted him in a base coat of one of the colours so that I didn't need to futz about trying to get full coverage from the 'pour'... I could just let it do its thing. You could also do that with the top third of the balls so that if the first pour doesn't manage to reach all the 'way around you don't have to re-pour and waste paint. I think you could also plan on some items that you could 'dip' or 'roll' into the paint that drips to the base...
You can add more 'flow medium' (floetrol being one)... the idea being to loosen the paint enough so that it flows easily and smoothly. However, you don't want it too thin that it doesn't end up really adhering to your surface and creating all the striations and patterns. These are perfect out of the bottle but, I would expect, will thicken over time now that they have been opened, so I might have to add some if they sit on the shelf too long!
@@QueenBeeCreations oh, yes….good thinking about rolling something in the drippings. Smaller ornaments or figures might be interesting. Thank you, Cindy!
I have been trying to find videos on this technique! Thank you! I have a few questions…what type of varnish did you use? Also, I have been reading about getting “cells” to form. Did that happen with these?
I just used the spray sealer I had on hand from the hardware store… a Rustoleum product, but any clear coat poly acrylic sealer of your choice would work… I wouldn’t hesitate to use any from the product lines in my shop but went with the spray simply because it was fast and easy. I didn’t get any cell activity with the paints I used but I believe that often people add a cell activator into one of their colours to ensure they do.
My pleasure! I was surprised with how well the odd shaped deer worked... as I mentioned in the video though I would prepaint it one of the solid colours used so I didnt' need to worry about complete coverage with the pour!
If you want to get 'cells' in your pour then there is a 'cell activator' product that you need to add to at least one of the paints. There are some paints that may react with one another to create cells, but without a lot of trial and error you can add a product like this one... amzn.to/3RW9w8w That said, I believe that there are some alternative products you can use... perhaps others may chime in with their favourite!

You are so welcome, it was a fun introduction for me too!

I hadn't thought of that but yes... definitely those colours!!

I was really pleased with how they looked together too!
Very cool❤❤❤

Where do you get your glass ornaments in bulk? I think you mentioned you purchased 200. Thanks.
I had ordered them through Alibaba online.
What was the drying time?
Took them about 60 minutes to be dried enough to be moveable but needed overnight to be more 'hardy' and better cured.
How do you get the cells?
They are beautiful but there is a lot of waste.
I agree... paint pouring always has waste... I ended up scooping some up and using it else.
I would put canvas under this project or parchment paper to make jewelry later!
I wouldn’t put them on sticks -on thin funnels upside down!
Ahh… so you could peel and cut the paint after… love that idea!
@cynthiaevans8507 that would work too!
