It's a rebranded Daewoo made in the same factory. Those were horrible vehicles and I expect nothing better from them. They just bought the Chevy name for them. Good luck with them lasting. I would get a mazda cx 30 if you want a new vehicle.
Get the base LS. Equip it with the almost $1,000 Convenience package. Gets you a handful of useful features, only a couple of useless ones that folks can live with. Seriously, for just under $1K, it's a bargain and a fantastic package. The $250 Driver's package, not nearly as useful. But on the base Trax, the LS; good luck finding one NOT equipped with both packages, on the dealer's lot. Too many intrusive electronic aides and gizmos on the higher trim levels.
I'd stick with the base model. I prefer analog gauges any day over a crappy screen that costs thousands to replace. From what I see in the video, the base model appears to have tires with a taller sidewall, which means a smoother ride.
this is looking very similar to the Chevy Montana platform that is only offered in Mexico and South America. The newest Montana is ALSO only offered in a FWD drivetrain with the 3 cyl turbo. I'd love to see a compact pick up from Chevy in the U.S to compete with the Ford Maverick!
When the camera panned out at 10:48 the color looked like it went from gold to yellow. Very cool paint job, Chevrolet! Unique. I’ve never seen it done in this hue.
I currently have the LS version of the Chevy trax and at 12k miles the trax was an investment that I enjoy having and am slowly doing small changes to make the trax look different then everybody trax
As of June 2024, the Chevrolet Trax is manufactured in South Korea at a General Motors (GM) plant. The 2024 model is built on GM's global platform and features Chevrolet's modern design and technology. It's also about 4 inches lower, 2 inches wider, and 11 inches longer than the 2022 version.
Love the stying of the Trax. I was looking at the Trax RS for my mother, but since we live in Buffalo, we need AWD, and sadly the Trax only comes in FWD.
Glad your getting some screen time Chase. We've routed for you. As feedback goes, please don't fall into the traps a lot of journalist have while speaking with periods in between every word. Just friendly advice from a fan.
I've not liked Chevy in a long time, but they seem to be upping their game lately. The Trailblazer, Colorado, and now this new Trax are all compelling products. I'm not financially ready to pull the trigger on a new vehicle, but this Trax is definitely on my list, along with the related Buick Envista. The Trax looks good, seems nicely packaged, and the pricing is incredibly good. 5 trims in total to choose from ranging from $20k-$25k. The lack of AWD is fine by me. I live in Florida, so I'd prefer FWD for its mechanical simplicity and lower price. The 3cyl turbo seems a little low on horsepower, but the torque number is healthy for this class of vehicle. The seat-of-the-pants feeling is what matters to me, not so much the numbers on paper. My biggest concern is reliability and overall quality. A cheapest-in-class vehicle wearing a Chevy badge? Hmm.
The problem with the 1.2 is longevity. These small high boost output engines seriously need water injection systems. Without it they burn themselves up in as few as 15k. Sure GM pays for the motor that time but what about next time?
My Chevy Cruze limited is probably going to be the last Chevy I buy. It’s been relatively good. The stuff I have had to replace (water pump, coolant tank, heater core) haven’t been too bad to replace but still. Only had 50k miles
A basic, decent aluminum rim is not that expensive. They should just put them on the base model and add $600 to the price. The appearance over the hubcaps would be so much nicer. I am sure they are an option but just start the base model with a real wheel since the hubcaps stand out and detract from the overall look of the car.
There is an inexpensive package that gives you alloy wheels on the base model. It’s the LS Convenience package. $995. ALL FEATURES INCLUDED WITH LS CONVENIENCE PACKAGE: Remote start Heated driver and front passenger seats Carpeted rear floor mats Body-color heated power outside mirrors 17" Silver-painted aluminum wheels
I want steel rims and hub caps. I appreciate a wider sidweall and I don't like the looks of black allow wheels. Steel wheels stand the test of time and are more durable.
FYI guys as a pro detailer with my own shop piano black inside and out are the bane of m existence. So I added a pakage wherein I polish the scratches out. Just use an all in one or cleaner polish and a fine foam paid and go slow and they clean right up pretty nicely. I regularly get from 50-90% clarity. It seem as if it can be done again and again without any ill effects. hth
Very sharp looking car. Not my pick for daily driving because I live in Colorado, so 4WD and AWD is my choice. But a good choice for a rental if I’m visiting somewhere during the summer days. Great review, TFL crew.
I love the three trims side-by-side . . . - The key is what you paid for at the bottom tier, but those cloth seats look great, the accents make it look nice and that 8in Chevy screen seems solid in all of the GMs I have seen it in. - The Activ is solid, dual screens, a bitty moon roof and the seats are a nice step up. - That colour, different shades of yellow-gold, has suddenly become very popular . . . I first saw something like it in the preproduction Seltos, and most lately with Toyota and Andre's Colorado . . . and I like it! - Hmmmm I go with the Activ in Nitro-Yellow . . . . . . but in the Mountain West, I really do need AWD. Sad.
@@johnnyedifyYup everything the same pretty much. Don't like the styling as much. But I did like how the door panels have a better arm rest for those long trips. The Buick is the boomer version of the Trax.
I still have yet to see these in person but from what I can tell in these videos it looks like a well-equipped and styled crossover. That pricing is mind boggling in an age of inflation and ultra high MSRPs. It's a breath of fresh air and the car itself isn't a major penalty box to boot. The styling is very Blazer-esque but that's a good thing because I've always enjoyed the sharp styling of it which in itself is inspired by the Camaro. The interiors are very impressive and seem roomy given the dimensions since it looks small from the outside. I can't wait to see one in person. I keep driving through my Chevy dealership to try to catch but have had no luck yet. Not that I'm getting one but being a car guy, I love seeing all-new models coming out and getting their first impressions.
I saw someone driving one around in my area, they’re a lot shorter than I thought they would be but they looked nice. If you were to look at it for just a glance it does look a lot like a blazer. I’m really just curious how it runs and how reliability will be for people long term with the 3 cylinder and entry level components.
Love these! Love that GM took the gamble on putting the smaller 1.2L Turbo 3 engine in. Plus a tried and true 6 speed automatic and 9 seconds 0-60 is plenty fast for a subcompact CUV/SUV. Love the styling inside and out, wow and the price on these is soooo competitive! The top trim ACTIVE or 2RS comes in at $24,995.00 for total MSRP and that includes destination charge! Even if you load the top trim ACTIVE or 2RS up with all the options which are 2 packages the Driver Confidence Package at $650.00 (includes adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert, lane change alert with blind zone alert) and the Sunroof Package at $895.00 (standard size sunroof and wireless charging) the total MSRP still is only $26,540.00!!! Thats impressive. Now some colors cost an additional $395.00 such as the Cayenne Orange, Nitro Yellow and Fountain Blue which I would go with the Nitro Yellow as it looks amazing. The unique looking Cacti Green color does not show an additional cost. So again a top trim with every option and even a color that cost the extra $395.00 you would still only be at $26,935.00 The bargain trim and sweet spot for most I bet will be the 1RS at $23,195.00 including destination and comes with remote start, wireless apple car play, 8 inch touchscreen, led head lights, heated seats, 18 inch alloys and more. Thats a deal. You can add the Driver Confidence Package to that trim for $250.00 (includes rear cross traffic alert and lane change alert with blind zone alert) and the Sunroof Package for $795.00 but on this trim does not include wireless charging and is just the Sunroof. So with all options added to the 1RS trim it would come to $24,240.00 or if you pick an additional cost color at $395.00 it would be $24,635.00 and that includes the destination charge. Another popular trim will be the LT at $23,395.00 and you get additional features over the 1RS such as push button start, 11 inch touchscreen and 8 inch digital gauge cluster, less sporty 17 inch alloy wheels, single zone digital climate control vs manual dials and more. If you add every option to the LT such as the LT Convenience Package at $595.00 (includes keyless open doors/handles, heated outside mirrors, leather wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel), Driver Confidence Package at $650.00 (includes adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert, lane change alert with blind zone alert) and the Sunroof Package at $895.00 (includes standard sized sunroof and wireless charging) the cost comes to $25,535.00 and if you pic an additional cost color at $395.00 it then comes to $25,930.00 including destination. In my opinion if you do this with the LT and get every option you may as well just get the top trim ACTIVE OR 2RS with all options as it is only around $1,000.00 more but comes with alot more and looks better. I think this will sell like crazy and is a great looking vehicle with tons or room and features. Good job GM!

So do you run the snows all year round? They won't last long if you do. In my many decades of off-roading experience, nothing beats having power going to all four tires.

I work as a lot attendant for a Chevrolet dealership. Not even going to lie to you guys, these vehicles are great if you can get your hands on one, extremely popular right now with the price point and pretty fun to drive, not a fast car.
Step change for the Trax in design/appeal and the right vehicle at the right time... they'll sell like hotcakes. People in the market for these cars won't be bothered by the less than steller engine and trans.
I've seen these in Detroit driving around and they look so good. I was really surprised at how much I liked a Trax. It's a bummer that there isn't an AWD option though for those that live in snowy environments. I get that its entry level but that usually doesn't cost a ton more to the customer. Maybe a complexity thing with manufacturing that keeps cost down?
@@letsgetmg788 I always say "AWD is a great lie" It gives you confidence to do dumb things like travel faster than road conditions should permit, or use "all" (3) Season tires in snow. All AWD does is help get traction in the event one or two wheels can't find it, and help accelerate/build momentum. It may help with some stability in turns on slippery surfaces, but ultimately your tires matter much more and vehicles have used all 4 wheels to stop for the better part of the last 40 years so it's not like AWD helps you stop in an emergency situation. Stopping and traction are more important than moving forward, period. You see this every winter here when the roadside is littered with people who trusted their AWD/4x4 a little to much on the first real snow. Edit: And I'd like to say, I'm speaking from experience and a lesson well learned. 98 Blazer, lost control mid bend at about 30mph with 4x4 engaged and the best I could do was guide it to do the least damage possible. I feel like they’ve done a huge remodel of the Trax and only a soft update to the Trailblazer to prepare for a future off-road reboot of the Trailblazer
I will admit, I like this Trax more than the outgoing one. I'm glad they took some styling cues from the Trailblazer and tossed the frumpy "used soap" design aside. I was wondering what was going to happen with the Trax with the Trailblazer around. Interior is leagues above the outgoing Trax/Equinox which I referred to as the "old man special" Edit: Just got to the pricing, It seems like this competes with the Hyundai Venue and Kia Soul, and it makes a very compelling argument. I would bet if you compare per vehicle cost with development spread out and all this engine with the turbo costs more than if they put the 2.0L n/a engine. Similar power. More torque.
All wheel drive is really a waist in most places, just makes your car heavier, less fuel milage more expensive, and more things to break. However it is better in some driving situations like snow.

I would guess the Trax won't be under 3200lbs divided by 137hp is 23lbs/hp so I expect 10-11 seconds 0-60 vs 8 seconds for the Rogue.

The Chevy Trax is not made in the U.S, its made entirely in South Korea and shipped to North America
That's a GOOD thing!
Oh wow
It's a rebranded Daewoo made in the same factory. Those were horrible vehicles and I expect nothing better from them. They just bought the Chevy name for them. Good luck with them lasting. I would get a mazda cx 30 if you want a new vehicle.

Your office is not alone in liking physical controls. I don't know many people what like having everything controlled via a touchscreen.
I do like that the screen is angled more towards the driver
Fantastic review on the model lineup.Chevy has a winner here. May trade my 22 Equinox Equinox LT for the Trax.❤
I'd stick with the base model. I prefer analog gauges any day over a crappy screen that costs thousands to replace. From what I see in the video, the base model appears to have tires with a taller sidewall, which means a smoother ride.
I’m sick of computers in my car! Does the lt trim have the analog too?
@@candicerenn4783 No, the LT trim gets the big digital screens. Only LS is analog.

this is looking very similar to the Chevy Montana platform that is only offered in Mexico and South America. The newest Montana is ALSO only offered in a FWD drivetrain with the 3 cyl turbo. I'd love to see a compact pick up from Chevy in the U.S to compete with the Ford Maverick!

How did Andre forget to order the convenience package for this truck 😮
Love the stying of the Trax. I was looking at the Trax RS for my mother, but since we live in Buffalo, we need AWD, and sadly the Trax only comes in FWD.
I lived in Canada and AWD is useless if you are not a dumb driver
@@n_conway7571 those issues shouldn't be happening at such low miles.
Please, do not buy any GM vehicle with the 1.2 turbo engine that uses "wet belts." This technology has been used in Europe and has been a failure.
2:00 That physical key can also be used as defense if some joker wants to steal your new Trax from you! LOL
I like the Active better. Like the wheels more than the RS.
The black wheels look fantastic!
ALL FEATURES INCLUDED WITH LS CONVENIENCE PACKAGE:
Remote start
Heated driver and front passenger seats
Carpeted rear floor mats
Body-color heated power outside mirrors
17" Silver-painted aluminum wheels
I have a feeling that most dealers will order it that way but they did everything possible to keep the lowest MSRP for marketing.
I want steel rims and hub caps. I appreciate a wider sidweall and I don't like the looks of black allow wheels. Steel wheels stand the test of time and are more durable.

Just put on winter tires. Problem solved.
That thing has a lot of room in it. And I was surprised to see when Andre got in back behind himself that he actually fit fairly well.😀
I love the three trims side-by-side . .
Sad.
That yellow-gold color is also available on the Mitsubishi Mirage.
I believe this is on the same platform and drivetrain as the new Buick Envista.
@@johnnyedifyYup everything the same pretty much. Don't like the styling as much. But I did like how the door panels have a better arm rest for those long trips. The Buick is the boomer version of the Trax.
Is it odd that the red car has yellow interior accents and the yellow car has red interior accents?
Lol I was thinking the same thing.
So again a top trim with every option and even a color that cost the extra $395.00 you would still only be at $26,935.00
The bargain trim and sweet spot for most I bet will be the 1RS at $23,195.00 including destination and comes with remote start, wireless apple car play, 8 inch touchscreen, led head lights, heated seats, 18 inch alloys and more.

Curios. If its bigger than the Trailblazer, why didnt they put the 1.3 turbo instead!? 155hp makes more sense than the 137hp of the 1.2.

Honestly this is an impressive package and value proposition from chevy. An SS version with 200 to 225 HP with body kit would be awesome and they could totally do that for sub 30k and I think it would sell very well. As it is though this is a nice package.
Hell I’d just be happy with an SS version that has the 1.5 4 cylinder from the Equinox. Even 175 hp would make this little suv fairly peppy.

Doesn't matter how good the car is no AWD no deal
Just put snow tires and you are good to go. More vehicles are front wheel drive than AWD.
@@letsgetmg788 I always say "AWD is a great lie"
It gives you confidence to do dumb things like travel faster than road conditions should permit, or use "all" (3) Season tires in snow.
Wore the front end of a different year and trim Blazer until the day it was scrapped as a reminder.
