Very true. I need AWD as I live on a mountain in CT. Too many times I have been stranded at the bottom of the mountain with my FWD Honda and Saab with snow tires (the Saab was markedly better than the Honda, but still could not always get me home). When those cars wore out in 2013 and 2018, I bought an AWD Subaru and an AWD Buick Envision. Now with snow tires I can get home no matter how much snow is on the ground (less than 7 inches of course). The FWD cars struggled with more than 2 inches. The cars were great with FWD in northern NJ but it was a different world in CT in the mountains.

Then you have to fight and fight with them to get to get an extra grand on the trade.
Winter tires are better than AWD for snow and ice. Good point that AWD only makes a difference under acceleration. Winter tires improve traction when turning and braking as well as acceleration.
I live in Florida and I have an all wheel drive and it is great in the rain and if anyone knows Florida it rains a lot especially in the summer ⛱️. Stay well and have a beautiful day
Excellent video. Great comparison. The MUCH needed makeover of the Trax by Chevy is amazing. For me personally I'd go with (and just did a deal) on the Trailblazer. This is my FIRST ever Chevrolet and I'm 57. I went with the LT AWD with a couple different pkg options. We get plenty of lake effect storms courtesy of Lake Ontario so AWD is a no brainer for me. Seen enough people stuck on the highway itself on my ride to work in some of the bigger storms that the plows hadn't hit in a while.
I got my Trax 10 days ago. I took it on road trip to mountains Va/Tn area. I had no problem getting up the mountains it never went over 3 on rpms. I was impressed because of the engine size. I love my new Trax
I went to Chevy dealer yesterday and looking at the trailblazer because of the review from Edmund then stumbled into the Trax ...and now I think more than likely I will go with the Trax...AWD is not needed so FWD is just fine...the ony thing I like from Trailblazer is you can customize the roof color....but well can't have everything adn Trax is nice enoughadn most importantly the price is very reasonable...thanks for the review !
You're going to hate that low quality when it screams at you during ownership , people already having problems , do yourself a favor and get a better brand lol
Greeaaat review my friend! I had prepared to get the trax but I will need the blazer because I have a toddler and I think the 5 inches of room would be beneficial.
Great video. I am buying a car for my son and have been torn on which of these two would be best for him. He is 6'4 and I want him to have enough leg room. lol We are going to go have him sit in both, to see which feels more comfortable. I'm leaning towards the trailblazer because it looks like more youthful and fun for his age.
My wife and I just purchased a 2024 Trax Active, We have 500 miles on the odometer and we both love it. Our daughter has the trailblazer LS and we both agreed that the Trax was the better vehicle for us. The price we paid was just under $27,000 here in Arizona. 😊
I have a 2021 trailblazer.. averaging 37 mpg and zero issues over 34k miles . .best car for the Money and i suspect the new trax will be the same .. like you said Chevy has a winner on both they can easily sell a million units of this two if they produce them
I didn't hear you mention the crappy CVT in the Trailblazer with the 1.2. It ruins the driving experience compared to the 6 speed in the Trax. Great review though.
I prefer the TB for design, slightly taller where the Trax is short and wide. TB is a little quicker with the 1.3L. But the Trax is much cheaper and slightly larger. I will go with the Trax when I upgrade from my Spark.
You said the front passenger seat in the Trax cannot fold down. But I just watched another video where they folded the front passenger seat in both a 2024 Trax and a 2024 Trailblazer. They both looked exactly the same.
Front wheel drive can sometimes catch you by surprise in snow if you hit the gas rounding a turn expecting the front wheels to pull you through that turn. Sometimes they lose traction and you end up sliding straight and not making that turn.
Price = Trax. These two are just too similar. Why pay more for the Trailblazer if you don't need AWD? If you do, different story. Also... As messed up as it is, if you ever need to live out of your vehicle, the fact that you can fold down the front passenger seat is going to be a huge factor for some in buying the Trailblazer over the Trax. Get yourself a somewhat thick, roll-up, foam mattress, along with a sleeping bag. Find a secluded spot to park. There you go. On a more pleasant note: Maybe you need to make a solo road trip. Money a bit tight. Lower that front passenger seat and sleep one night on the road. No need for a motel. AWD and that folding front passenger seat is going to persuade at least some folks to get a Trailblazer over a Trax. But seriously, why buy a FWD drive Trailblazer with the 1.2 liter engine when you can get a similar-looking Trax, also FWD with the same engine for over $1K less money. I'm sorry, just makes no sense to get a Base trim Trailblazer over a Base trim Trax. Save that over $1K for gas at the pump.
greetings from buffalo, ny, where we know blizzards and heavy snow. , never had AWD, so we will put 4 snow tires on our 24 Trax 2 RS and they grip really well and not, we also bought a 23 apt to slide
I test drove both, and l like them both. The main thing that kept me purchasing one or the other is the “additional dealer markup/market adjustment” above MSRP prices and other dealer markups like nitrogen in the tires, extended warranties, filing fees, and other mandatory add on junk forced on a buyer. All I want to pay is MSRP plus tax, title, license, and a negotiated downward document fee. Too bad dealer greed prevented me from buying.
Dealers in my area are automatically adding $5k to sticker. And still selling them as fast as they can pull them off the truck, the few they are getting which isn't many. And they have almost nothing coming in looking months out.
I rented a Trailblazer when I visited Alaska via Turo. I was surprised how small the back storage was. I couldn't even fit my checked back in the back without putting the seats down. I must say the 4G built in wifi was amazing when I was in the middle of nowhere and able to listen to Sirius XM and use my GPS. I also like I could turn off the auto shut off at stops and lights, that was really, really annoying. Was comfortable had good pep and drove really nice overall.
I live in Orange County, NY, and I just bought a 2022 Trailblazer. While I like the overall dimensions of the new Trax (particularly length, wheelbase, etc.) I like that you sit up higher in the Trailblazer, and the outward design of the vehicle is more rugged. It reminds me of a Jeep, Landrover, or an Outback. It has a "let's go on an adventure" vibe to it. While the new Trax is far, far better than the old Trax design, I still think the Trailblazer is cooler. I got the LT with 1.3 liter engine, front-wheel drive. I'm originally from Cleveland, so driving in snow with a FWD vehicle isn't a big issue for me. If I ever planned to move west, I'd get the ACTIV trim.
thanks for explaining the awd. i was bummed when you said the trax doesnt have it. iwant a blazer but dont have blazer money. lmao we rarely get snow but when we do, its not fun being in the mountains and having to commute 40 miles to town.
Great review. I'd also get the Trax, but with 1RS trim. Not a fan of the cyclops gauge cluster on the higher trims and no need for a bigger infotainment screen as I use Apple Car Plays apps exclusively. And the keyed ignition is a great anti-theft feature...no chance of relay theft or key fob cloning.
I have had 6 out of 7 vehicles that have been front wheel drive here in Missouri and I am used to our Winters we have and no big deal for all wheel drive for me. I too like the way thr Trax looks but don't get me wrong both look great.
I think I'd give the Trax a go cause I like the interior styling better and exterior but that 3 cylinder engine still has me a little skidding. I love the Trailblazer too though but hoping to get a Trax soon when I get my money from my accident
From one Dave B to another, I own a '24 Trax and love it! Good review and comparison. I traded in my 2016 Mazda CX 5 for this and there is a little adjustment, but with any new car you just have to learn where the new features are and forget about the ones your old car had. It's a wonderful vehicle and a great value!
If I were to pick between these vehicles I'd pick the Bolt EUV. ;-) But really, of these two vehicles, I'd go for the Trax. I agree, AWD isn't really necessary even in the states with the heaviest snowfall. You're much better off with a good set of winter tires that you swap between seasons. Those help with braking and steering too, not just acceleration like AWD. Plus, you get better economy long-term.
Ok Dave. I've never purchased a domestic car. But this Trax keeps catching my eye. The only general thought about it is if I wanted a Korean vehicle I'd buy Hyundai Kia. At least I would get an additional two-year warranty on it. That being said, how much is an additional two-year warranty through GM? And in your opinion is it worth it? I drive an average of 20,000 miles a year so that's why I'm concerned with three or 36,000 warranty.
This video was very helpful! I have a deposit on a 2024 Trax 1RS just waiting on mine. I am really bummed out that it doesn't have the automatic liftgate though.
We bought the Trax and while we live in a snowy climate, we have never had AWD and did not see the value in spending 4 grand to get the Trailblazer over the Trax Active. Can't wait to see the Equinox EV come out, that may be our next purchase
I prefer the styling of the Trax, but the function of the Trailblazer. As such, I just purchased a new 23 Trailblazer LT AWD. It's a great practical little vehicle and I'm surprised by the power of the 1.3

I have and would buy again the Buck Envista just because it looks cooler and has a better warranty. Also, doesn’t the touch screen have a new computer in the Trax? Isn’t it more responsive? Not sure…
I'm thinking I'd get the trailblazer. With my knees as they are, lower cars aren't as easy to get out of. I'm also thinking the A Pillar might be further away from the seat. I have problems getting my right foot out. So many cars like this.
I have a 2016 trax and have had nothing but trouble with it since i leased it new in 2016, i then bought it out of the lease in 2019 and now in 2023 it has 81,000 miles, many new or fixed mechanical parts, drives horribly (with regular oil changes & maintenance) and violently shakes when idling. It drives even worse with heat or ac on plus an added smell from the vents. Hope the new one is made better
My trax now haa the front seat that folds down i really like that, but, thats not the only thing. I dont like how the trax doesnt have cup holders or arm rest in the back. They both look nice i also like AWD.
I currently drive a 2020 Equinox Premier AWD. Seriously loving the Trax 2RS...seems like it's close to the same size as the Equinox...and. LOT less $$$!! The only negative I see with the 2RS Trax is the small sunroof...love my panoramic sunroof! Thanks for the comparison 👍
I think the Trax easily has the more updated interior/infotainment. I am in the process of choosing one of these vehicles and little by little I'm leaning more towards the rhe Trax 2 RS.
I got my Trax 2 days ago. I seen the Trailblazer on lot. I hadn’t even seen a Trax went to 4 different dealers no luck. Found trax online I liked put a deposit down sight unseen. It’s so nice exceeded my expectations. Everyone loves it!

Fwd with good winter tires does the job really really good, i got a Chevy Cobalt and i live in a hilly neighborhood in Quebec where we get alot of snow. I think that an awd isn't necessary plus i really don't like how the trailblazer looks so yea Trax definitely
I need a car and usually buy toyota or honda. They dont have much on their lots. I notice plenty of Trax available and Nissan kix available. Might go with the trax and hope it holds up with not many problems which is why I usually buy toyota.
Yea, the price of Toyotas and Hondas has really shot up over the last 3 years, especially with dealer market adjustments. My wife got a Subaru Crosstrek in January 2020 for 25k. They have gone up in $ too but not as much as Toyota and Honda. Mazda has better deals but I’m not a big fan of their styling.
Interesting they would have Trax available when the dealerships in my area only have a few and those are usually sold before they can pull them off the truck. And they aren't getting anymore than a few more in here and there looking months out. One dealership I spoke with is getting 1 in through the end of July.
I've always suspected some customers just want the AWD because they think it's better or for vanity reasons. When I lived in New Jersey, any substantial snowstorm would tie up the roads to the point where traffic hardly moved. Having AWD does no good sitting on the Garden State Parkway in a snowstorm creeping along at 15 mph.
Little off topic, but wonder what your thoughts are on the Buick Envista? Drove a Trax Activ over the weekend and was very impressed but like the added bella and whistles of the Envista. The pricing on these are unbelievable!
Can you please show the inside.......I think you would buy the tax me too....6 speed auto is it still for sale but I may stop by on Friday July 14th 2023 Thanks DAVE B.
A little issue with how you describe AWD in snow off throttle: if AWD is engaged but you are off throttle there IS additional engine braking effect spread to grip on all FOUR wheels/tires, where in FWD that off throttle engine breaking only goes to the two front wheels. I agree that ACTIVE breaking in snow is the same regardless of AWD or FWD.
My HHR's front passenger seat also folds down. I fit my entire kayak in it with the hatch closed. That is one of the best features of a crossover/suv and all makes and models should be able to have this feature. I fit more in the HHR while I continue to see bikes and kayaks hanging out of trucks with 5' beds. It's comical.
I would take the Trax because it looks a baby Blazer and I really want a Blazer, but the Trax is more affordable

Why would GM be allocating Trax where they are supposedly being deeply discounted when in other places they are in super short supply and going for a premium? Those dealers would simply swap with their sister dealership where they can get more $$.
@@jackmcgee5331 I suspect if were able to pay $20k because the dealer undervalued their trade by $3k. Or in the fine print they added $2k for undercoating, alarm system, extended warranty etc. That's what a dealer I went to did so they could claim they were selling the new one without markup.
Stay well and have a beautiful day
Thank you brother great review I bought the 1RS Trax in April in at Hornbeck Chevrolet in Pa. I love it. Your review was spot on it is a game changer.
Thanks Dave . You just explained in details . I will go for the Chevy Trax. Super handsome car.
Great video! Thanks for the spreadsheets!! I am planning to get a Trax soon, so this is excellent info. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow there was a reason u didn't get a chevy for so long now you're just going to experience low quality at a old age 😂
Purchased a ‘24 Trax RS last month. Great little car! GM nailed it right this time!
Nice!
Trade it when it gets about 80,000; pay it off early.
I did choose the Trax. Still waiting on mine to be built. Can't wait!
I just bought a Trax Saturday and I love it!
still like it?
Still like it?
@@AlejandroLopez-vl4fn I have mine for about 2 months and I love it!
Hi Dave thank you for sharing information i would buy Trax you explained very well even when we go to show room they don't.
Greeaaat review my friend! I had prepared to get the trax but I will need the blazer because I have a toddler and I think the 5 inches of room would be beneficial.
Thank you! I've been up in the air about whether too buy a Trax. You just helped me make my mind up! It's the Trax.
I like the Trax. It is one good looking vehicle! My favorite car however is the Blazer!
I'm in North Jersey and I'm watching a video now headed to Schumacher in Clifton to buy! Thank you for this video.
See you Wednesday morning 👍
Great video. I am buying a car for my son and have been torn on which of these two would be best for him. He is 6'4 and I want him to have enough leg room. lol We are going to go have him sit in both, to see which feels more comfortable. I'm leaning towards the trailblazer because it looks like more youthful and fun for his age.
I solve the problem! Bought the Trax for the wife and I bought the Trailblazer for myself!
😂
I agree, the Trax LOOKS BETTER.!!!
My wife and I just purchased a 2024 Trax Active, We have 500 miles on the odometer and we both love it. Our daughter has the trailblazer LS and we both agreed that the Trax was the better vehicle for us. The price we paid was just under $27,000 here in Arizona. 😊
I have a 2021 trailblazer.. averaging 37 mpg and zero issues over 34k miles . .best car for the Money and i suspect the new trax will be the same .. like you said Chevy has a winner on both they can easily sell a million units of this two if they produce them
Great mileage!!
37mpg??
You sure you're calculating it correctly?
I didn't hear you mention the crappy CVT in the Trailblazer with the 1.2. It ruins the driving experience compared to the 6 speed in the Trax. Great review though.
I think that 1.2 turbo would be a perfect swap for a Fiero. I think about weird things like that a lot lol
I wanted a Fiero so bad when they first came out. It was so cool having the stereo speakers in the headrest.
We just got an LT Trax partially based on your videos. Thank you
Thank you for the comparison video!
Interesting comparison. I like the looks of the Trailblazer better, but the Trax price is hard to ignore
On a more pleasant note:
Maybe you need to make a solo road trip.
Excellent video. Given all of the features of both, I would choose my 6.2L Tahoe.
Yeah but not many would choose a 1300 a month payment for a vehicle
@@theirishman088 🤣
greetings from buffalo, ny, where we know blizzards and heavy snow. , never had AWD, so we will put 4 snow tires on our 24 Trax 2 RS and they grip really well and not, we also bought a 23 apt to slide
Tires do make a big difference.. I ran firestone snow tires on a Cavalier Coupe... That car got through anything!
Are you near NJ... we arent doing markups.. only one dealer fee which is 389
@@DaveBsellsChevy not near New Jersey. If I were, I’d buy from your dealership. Thank you for your helpful videos anyway.
Dealers in my area are automatically adding $5k to sticker. And still selling them as fast as they can pull them off the truck, the few they are getting which isn't many. And they have almost nothing coming in looking months out.
Wise decision.... I had a dealer try that stunt on me too I said no way
I rented a Trailblazer when I visited Alaska via Turo.
Thank you for explaining AWD vs FWD.
This was a great review. The best!! I love the Trail blazer but I think I will wait for the 2024
Great review.
Thank-you for the education on the awd vs fwd. I never had it explained to me in such detail. 🙏🏾👍🏽 New Subscriber
One of the Best Review i hav watched, and perfectly explained
I think I'd give the Trax a go cause I like the interior styling better and exterior but that 3 cylinder engine still has me a little skidding. I love the Trailblazer too though but hoping to get a Trax soon when I get my money from my accident
Let's hope not you're going to be hating the low quality lol
From one Dave B to another, I own a '24 Trax and love it! Good review and comparison. I traded in my 2016 Mazda CX 5 for this and there is a little adjustment, but with any new car you just have to learn where the new features are and forget about the ones your old car had. It's a wonderful vehicle and a great value!
This was very helpful! Thank you!!
I just bought the same Trax you had in video & I absolutely love it ❤
Awesome! Congrats!!
Why can’t gm put soft padding where your elbows go and that includes the top of the door?
This video was very helpful! I have a deposit on a 2024 Trax 1RS just waiting on mine. I am really bummed out that it doesn't have the automatic liftgate though.
I’ll be curious to the longevity of the Trax with its 1.2L turbo.
We bought the Trax and while we live in a snowy climate, we have never had AWD and did not see the value in spending 4 grand to get the Trailblazer over the Trax Active. Can't wait to see the Equinox EV come out, that may be our next purchase
Do you notice anything with that 3 cylinder engine? Are you getting good power or is it slow?
U guys must enjoy low quality out there 😂
I prefer the styling of the Trax, but the function of the Trailblazer. As such, I just purchased a new 23 Trailblazer LT AWD. It's a great practical little vehicle and I'm surprised by the power of the 1.3
Wait til that low quality hits , there's a reason why chevy rated so behind its foreign competitors
cormaro1376 likes to take a dump on A beautiful lobster, and steak dinner! He is a narcissistic hater. He craps on other people's happiness. Troll, who limps along in a crappy Ford Escape, with bald tires, needing an oil change 3500 miles ago. His Mom and Dad Moved, and never left him a forwarding address, in shame!
I have and would buy again the Buck Envista just because it looks cooler and has a better warranty. Also, doesn’t the touch screen have a new computer in the Trax? Isn’t it more responsive? Not sure…
I already bought the 2024 Chevy Trax and I love it!!! More for my money.
I'm thinking I'd get the trailblazer. With my knees as they are, lower cars aren't as easy to get out of. I'm also thinking the A Pillar might be further away from the seat. I have problems getting my right foot out. So many cars like this.
I bought the tracks for My Wife and she loves it 2024 and I work for a Chevy dealer lol
I like the fold front passenger seat in the trailblazer...I had a Pontiac Vibe with that feature and it came in handy...wish the Trax had it
I came from owning 3 different Pontiac vibes over the years… just bought a trailblazer! Love that too..
Really impress on all new design Trax,
Thank for your video comparison
😍
I currently drive a 2020 Equinox Premier AWD. Seriously loving the Trax 2RS...seems like it's close to the same size as the Equinox...and. LOT less $$$!! The only negative I see with the 2RS Trax is the small sunroof...love my panoramic sunroof! Thanks for the comparison 👍
I’m debating between a equinox premier and the 2023 trax
Sell it lol
We have a 19 AWD Trax 2 LT. The New Trax is light-years ahead of the older model.. Though we love our trax.
I think the Trax easily has the more updated interior/infotainment. I am in the process of choosing one of these vehicles and little by little I'm leaning more towards the rhe Trax 2 RS.
Enjoy that low quality , you'll be trading it back in real soon lol
I got my Trax 2 days ago. I seen the Trailblazer on lot. I hadn’t even seen a Trax went to 4 different dealers no luck. Found trax online I liked put a deposit down sight unseen. It’s so nice exceeded my expectations. Everyone loves it!
Congrats!!
@@DaveBsellsChevy I know they just came out. I wonder how many Chevy has sold so far. No dealership has them on lot no more than 2 days. Most of them are pre-sold.
@@amandapage6502 Dealers in my area are automatically adding to MSRP. And still selling them as fast as they can pull them off the truck, the few they are getting which isn't many. In a relatively large metro area, dealers within 150 miles have a total of 12 coming in the entire month of July.
Love the content. Keep it up.
Fwd with good winter tires does the job really really good, i got a Chevy Cobalt and i live in a hilly neighborhood in Quebec where we get alot of snow. I think that an awd isn't necessary plus i really don't like how the trailblazer looks so yea Trax definitely
Love my new Trailblazer!
Plus they are both Korean made with turbo 3s, I think I’ll stick with my naturally aspirated v6 4Runner (even with the mpg penalty.)
TB has a 9 speed vs the 6 speed auto in the Txx
Little off topic, but wonder what your thoughts are on the Buick Envista? Drove a Trax Activ over the weekend and was very impressed but like the added bella and whistles of the Envista. The pricing on these are unbelievable!
Can you please show the inside.......I think you would buy the tax me too....6 speed auto is it still for sale but I may stop by on Friday July 14th 2023 Thanks DAVE B.
Great video! This made me feel a lot more comfortable about the trax not being AWD, thinking about trading in my 2021 trax for a 2024!
Your descriptions were phenomenal
I like both but I'd choose a Rav4 or an Hr-v.
