She went on vacation and ate foods that she wasn’t used to so her gut couldn’t digest them properly and she became bloated and didn’t feel healthy. She did a juice cleanse to reset her gut and get herself back on track. She still consumed over 1300 calories per day. She wasn’t starving herself. she was doing an experiment to see if the cleanse would work for HER. It’s not her fault if somebody who has had an eating disorder (which I have in the past) comes to the video, ignores everything that she says, and it triggers them into not eating. She gave a disclaimer. She explained why she was doing this. She went over the pros AND CONS. She has done literally nothing wrong
I was honestly really appreciative for the pros and cons because she is really letting everyone know that it's not some miracle juice and she's not saying you should definitely do this. She did it for herself, while also giving information for the people who will see this video and ask if they should do it or not.
Deffo agree.. this is the type of thing my disorder leads me to watch as theres always that thought that it 'might work' and removes stress of having to actually eat and worry about food..
The fact that Sam does this with you (even in the beginning he looked like regretting his decision) proves that he really loves you! So yeah, shoutout to Sam!
As a nutritionist, I would not recommend a juice cleanse. Those juices contain a lot of fructose and can be a burden to your liver. The lack of fibers can also reduce your bowel movement. Those juices do not contain essential amino acids and can cause muscle loss. For anyone who wanna try this, please consult a doctor and do proper research to learn more about your health condition and see if you are suitable for such experimental diet.
actually there's no such thing as "cleansing" in a nutritionist's point of view. The concept of "clean" and "unclean" foods wildly accepted in the online community does not exist in the science of food nutrition. If you're feeling bloated, it could be due to accumulation of gas, due to various reasons. Some are harmless reasons like taking too much carbonated drinks or eating or drinking too fast, leading to increased amount of gas getting into your gut. These can be solved with simple solutions like not to drink those beverages or slow down your eating. I think Cassey has mentioned about changing the biome of the gut. That is correct too. Indeed some suggest that ingesting probiotics can help with bloating problems related to excessive amount of gas produced by bacteria in the gut. However, it is not to be ignored that some causes of bloating are situations that require medical attention like bacterial infection or organ failure. If you are very uncomfortable with the bloating, please seek medical attention as soon as you can.
I'm assuming you ate but yes you can go longer. Master Cleanse, for example, which some celebrities did too, it's 10 days (minimum). I read a book about it and a person did it a whole year. Fasting has been done for thousands of years. If you want to really learn about it and how to do it safely for long periods of times I recommend Master Fast System. I also talk from experience it's not something that I just heard. I fast myself, different interval of times, a few days, weeks, the longest was 108 days of Master Fast. I also do intermittent dry fasting every day for minimum 12 hours a day, I only drink/eat after 12pm so I don't need to count the hours. Many days I only eat one meal a day. You will see once you start this lifestyle you will realize that we eat waaayyyyyy to much.
@@dumbestbich8023 Food disorders have nothing to do with the food itself or fasting, it's ALL in the MiND, its about how you see yourself, related to self-love, better said not loving yourself and not feeling others love. It's not something that you just "developed" cause you fasted yesterday, it was always there but manifested in a different form. So please don't blame it on fasting and get some expert help, talk to someone.
I think everyone needs to chill out a bit. She's not glorifying not eating or telling everyone to detox. It's her own life. She posted about getting married, did everyone go crazy saying she's telling everyone else to get married? No. She got an upset stomach and went on a juice cleanse to help her body go back to normal. It worked. She has gone back to her normal diet. Lay off the criticism.
Exactly plus she is consuming over 1300 calories. This is not a starvation diet nor is the purpose of it for her to lose weight. She just wants to reduce her bloating and help with digestion.
I have Crohn’s disease and have had 7 surgeries in 2 years... my GI team puts me on a combo of juicing for a few days to Eating NOTHING but water for a few days to give my digestive system a break. I know I have a disease and my story is different BUT a digestive break can be helpful. People have to be responsible for themselves and know their OWN situation.
@@im_lilas_ the times I have been placed on “liquids” is typically associated when my Crohn’s is flared or if I feel a flare up coming. Typical broth, tea, juices but no solids for at least 24 hours sometimes up to 3 days. But again this is NOT typical for everyone (with or without Crohn’s) I have had this disease for over 2 decades so my body is accustomed to doing these breaks And only when I am not feeling well with my flare ups. I would not suggest this unless it’s been recommended by a doctor or in conjunction with working with a doctor. ☺️☺️
Glad you found something that works for you! My sister has crohn’s as well and I’ve seen how much pain it can cause her if she doesn’t eat a very specific way. This is a good example of how everyone’s body is different and fasting can be healthy if done correctly and under a doctors supervision.
I too have Crohn’s and regularly have days of not eating to calm my gut. I have had all my large bowel removed so not eating helps ease and calm my small bowel when I have digestive problems. I find boiling ginger lemon cinnamon and cayenne pepper in a litre of water and drinking that during the day is a big help and will help those with no digestive problems that want to lose a few pounds.
A person can go 40-50 days without eating before they die but you can’t go more than 3-4 days without drinking anything so 3 days isn’t that bad plus this is for her she’s not telling anyone they have to do it too it’s her life, relax
Alyssa Schenk maybe things have changed since there my nutrition teacher told us and also if you look it up on google it says three weeks but if you continue reading it says a person can go more than 3 weeks around 40 days
I don't see why people talk about things that they never experienced. I did 108 days of juice fasting only and I'm here talking about it. I also did 3 days of dry fasting (no food, no water, no shower, minimum contact with water just washing hands) and I'm here to talk about it. So please, until you experience it for yourself there's no point to argue about it, cause both of you are wrong.
Ahhhh um a $100 juice cleanse...yeah I wouldn’t go so far to purchase something like that! I do give you props for trying and succeeding! The vanilla almond and chocolate almond beverages sound DELICIOUS. I love them as the freeze!
I did a Smoothie cleanse for 48 hours once just as an experiment 😂. I ate just all kinds of raw fruit and vegetables as a smoothie, whenever I was hungry. At the end of it though omfg I kid you not my skin cleared up completely, acne scabs literally falling off and my face glowed. Obviously I could only pull this off two days, but its done miracles on my skin.
You can do your own cleanse at home. Doing a veggie smoothie as a meal is a good way to incorporate more liquids. I did a juice cleanse and I was hungry all the time.
@@Mm-jz5ku I made a green smoothie with parsley, lime juice, cucumber and tomato( I added garlic for taste). Then a creamy Smoothie with berries and avocado as a tasty snack. I also blended apples and carrots ( I added orange juice so it would blend better). It was weird that I didnt feel hungry but then again, it was just two days. It did taste good, and I would definitely have it again.
Not eating a single plate of food for three days isn’t starving yourself...it’s called a fast and it’s very healthy lol On another note, I’m so confused as to why the comment section is so negative! She decided to do a juice cleanse...it’s not that serious. Chill.
Muslims fast for a month, fast from sunrise to sunset for 30 to , 29 days it depends . no water, no food ,no smoking ,no medicine It is healthy but you need to choose your food after fasting wisely , you can do normal fasting and I need to mention that not "all" Muslims fast you need to be healthy enough to do it .
@@libbylewis4831 Sure. you can do it! So basically we start the fasting at Dawn till sunset. We refrain from drinking water too but you can drink water throughout the day. Just do it for a few days, you may not need a month
From the thumbnail I was expecting you to talk about how unhealthy it is, and how badly it affected you. Like apparently every other commenter here, as someone recovering from an eating disorder, juice cleanses are inherently disordered behaviour.
@@ehaley6838 There is no reason to "cleanse", your kidneys already do that job, and drinking juices made from fruits and veggies (so low caloric) instead of actually eating? Yeah, pretty disordered behaviour.
She literally says during the video "if you want to try this, check with a doctor/ if you're under 18 check with your parents". She also has a disclaimer in her bio of every single one of her videos saying to check with a doctor before you start any new exercise/diet program and that you should be in good physical health. Cassie is one person doing stuff that she wants to do. No offence but she's not responsible for anyone. She literally said at the end "I just did a juice cleanse because i just wanted to try it" also she did research on it beforehand. It's her body, her channel and she can do whatever she wants with it tbh. Stop with all this ED stuff. If someone looks at this video as a trigger then they would probably look at any diet video/even workout videos as a trigger. She just shared her experience, she's not telling other people to go do it. She even pointed out the cons that it had on her body (bad breakouts ect). She shared her experience. She is not promoting it at all. Like i for one am not running off to go do a juice cleanse, but i enjoyed watching her share her experience.
Zoe Chapple late reply but this is very correct. And three days isn’t bad if she did 7 days it might be a bit more dangerous. But as someone who had an ED, the word “hungry” would trigger me. (Trigger to not eat, not trigger as in upset me.)
I agree, yes, I have an eating disorder, but I don't watch this because automatically I want to do it, I want to know the affects, I still care about my health and know what I do isn't her encouraging it, infact, she said she wasn't encouraging it...
This sounds like a cool idea but as a person who struggled with an eating disorder and still does, it's not safe. Hopefully, in the future, i could give it a try!
i relate to this. even the title triggered me abit. if we're aware were not in the bestest place ever, nothing is worth risking our recovery. maybe in the late future, but deffo not now. ❤
True. I relate to this. I usually starve myself for a couple days and then I eat a piece of an apple. My fear foods are basically ALL the food combinations in the world, so I'll stick to apples and rasperries.
Tell me about it. I don't eat a lot in general but once I decide "oh! Let me try this diet out.. " my body goes into survival overdrive with ginormous pregnant-like cravings and eat everything I see..
Literally same though. I only eat once or twice a day. I'm just never hungry. I do however drink a lot of coffee with way more sugar than most people do so I gain weight easily. The second I decide to eat better for a few days to lose that weight its like my body wants to go on a binge LMAO.
I wish the title was different. I can understand why it is the way it is- probably for more attention. But this is just such a bad idea for anyone struggling with an eating disorder and young vulnerable viewers.
I did this, 72 hours, only lemon water and organic green tea with no sugar. You will feel better after trust me. As long as you drink a lot and overcome the hunger you will be fine. When your head hurts just drink more water. It cleanses you.
Wow I’m shocked by all the negative comments. There is research suggesting fasting can improve health. I suffered from disordered eating in the past so yes I understand people can be triggered by restrictive eating but that doesn’t negate the fact that water fasting or juice fasting can provide health benefits. Thank you for sharing your experience!
Krystal Weston but she didnt fast. She still drank sugar water She also doesn't typically weigh herself so she doesn't know if she lost weight over her typical everyday weight. she just know she lost bloat
I'm really surprised about this video coming from her. She used to be all body positivity, fitness, healthy/balanced living, etc. Now it's juice cleanses, dropping pounds in 3 days, not eating, criticizing her body as "pregnant"?? This is not the channel I started watching years ago. This is sad, especially as she knows young girls look up to her.
I don't think this was negative... her view of her own body is just that and she stated her intentions weren't for weight loss. She shared her experience and while she lost weight her concern was taking care of the bloating. Her experience not others.
This just means that no one really knows the true Cassey. Who she is inside and how she feels from day to day. To you, she is a role model who you put your own standards upon. She branded herself in this positive way. But inside we don't know how insecure she really feels about herself. I give her the benefit of the doubt and just because you're a public figure doesn't mean you're immune from having insecurities about your own body. She's a human just like you and me and we all strive to be happy with the way we look. Try to look at Cassey as a regular person, we all mess up sometimes and I do agree her video strays a bit from her branding that she created to inspire us.
I'm a registered dietitian and I can tell you straight up that you shouldn't! If you want to drink well-balanced smoothies for 3 days with all five food groups then that's fine but just juice is not healthy!
I love that point you made at the end. That this is just something you wanted to do and so you did and shared your results. You're not influencing anyone or telling them to go do this. In fact, you made it clear that you were NOT sponsored for the video and that it had both negative and positive effects. I've wanted to find a juice cleanse video for a while with honest results but most of them are sponsored. Thanks for the info!
yesssss! I love how she emphasized not gaining the weight back. I'm so tired of everyone saying that as soon as you finish fasting you gain the weight back. It's simply not true! Especially if you exercise and eat right and not go back to your old ways. Trust me guys/juice fasting works. I'm currently in one right now and love how I feel! lost 3 pounds in 3 days. looking to go to 30 days to lose 30 pounds. Wish me luck! I'll update you guys on my progress
Interesting video, but that title is pretty problematic. In a society where eating disorders are super prevalent and women especially are encouraged to not eat as a means of losing weight (which we all know is unhealthy), I feel like saying "I didn't eat for 3 days" is sending out a really bad message. Especially since it's coming from a very popular name in the fitness industry. I love your videos Cassey, but I would just suggest considering the effect that this video's title might have and the mindsets it might create.
She’s not saying it was a good thing geez and all women aren’t encouraged to have eating disorders, that’s just a lie. Sorry the real world doesn’t fit your agenda
I feel like this is a bad message to be giving to such an impressionable audience. Starvation isn't the way kids, just eat healthily again after a junk weekend/holiday and you're body will detox itself/adjust back to normal.
Just cause someone wants to do something doesn’t mean they’re screaming “everyone you have to do this!!” It’s people responsibility to be smart and make their own choices
It isn’t her job to give perfect content for kids, it’s the kids parents job to monitor what they’re watching Casey can do and post whatever she wants 🤷🏽♀️
Why, because it's no longer a thing to take responsibility for your own actions and to blame it on others that they "made" you do it by watching video that clearly states she's not recommending this?! Interesting.
This video, as well as almost every single video Cassey makes about food and diet, has the same point of controversy every single time. People immediately point fingers at it saying that she is a bad role model because what she promotes could cause eating disorders and could be "triggering". Top hate channels towards Cassey even use this as a main line of attack. The thing is, in every one of these videos, Cassey maintains a positive attitude and repeats that the aim is not to lose weight, but to feel better, but people get hung up on the gimmicky titles. Titling the videos in a "clickbait" way (for lack of a better term) is a tactic for attracting more attention, as all business people who sell products and lifestyles know, but even I become frustrated at them sometimes. (For example, I believe the 28 Day Reset is a diet through and through no matter what Cassey advertises.) Therefore, the solution is to just not listen to everything she says. I follow her workouts to a T, but I don't listen to her food advice and I'm just fine. Everyone is different and Cassey can't possibly take everyone into account. What she says is applicable to some and not to others. Developing eating disorders is a legitimate problem, but it shouldn't be Cassey's fault.
I tooootally agree with yout about just not following everything she says and that she's not responsible for eating disorders. For real, don't believe everything the 'gurus' say. My biggest complaint is that she didn't talk to a nutritionist, her research was superficial at best; and as a health and wellness professional, she has a greater responsibility to making sure that the advice/example she gives is accurate and well founded. The consensus in the healthcare professions is that juice cleanses are more harmful than good for the wider population. I think she should have known better.
Michelle Dai I think cassette still has a little disordered mindset toward weight even though she tries her best. I think her disclaimer and this whole vid was just an excuse to indulge in something questionable
I agree. Cassie is just uploading her life experience to share it with other people. Whether people want to use it as clickbait or not doesn't really matter. That's up to each individual, not her. And if she does something with her health and eating habits, that's on her not on us. She's just trying to share her experience, and I felt like she was really cautious and consider in the way she tried to talk about the subject, knowing that it would be controversial to some people. I myself have tried many rather extreme diets because I've been unable to lose weight easily in the past, and really struggled with that as a serious issue. And was basically forced to do extreme diets in order to get any kind of results. Only one of those was done with Doctor supervision because I had to get shots for it and do self injections. And was monitored by my doctor twice a week. But I also have two friends who are a certified nutritionist, and have one friend who was a bodybuilder, and neither one of them said there was any issue with so-called juice cleanses. It is not necessarily more or less risky than doing something like the keto diet or any of the other diets that people get worked up about. The important part is to remember that none of these fad diets are supposed to be long-term! They are never a long-term solution to anything. They are supposed to be short-term fixes to help you on your journey to getting on track with eating habits and healthy lifestyle. So there's no problem with that. If I went out and ate McDonald's everyday for breakfast lunch and dinner for a week, well I probably wouldn't feel very good, it would have some short-term negative side effects due to bloating etcetera etcetera, but it's certainly not going to kill me. If I do a juice diet for a week, I'm definitely going to see you some reversed types of side effects, and certainly my diet has changed within that week, but it certainly also not going to kill me! So what's the big f***ing deal?! Nobody cares if somebody likes it or doesn't like it. Cassie is just sharing her personal experiences with her viewers. So what?! I guarantee most of the people on this channel have done things far more idiotic and life-altering than a juice diet for 3 whole days!
Ugh, agree so much. People will never be satisfied literally no matter what she says or how many disclaimers or apologies she gives. People need to grow up, she’s not in charge of anyone else’s life and she can’t make content that catered to ever single persons needs, she just a person sharing her life experiences. People that get offended for everyone else are so counterproductive and arrogant and annoying. There are several comments of people who have eating disorders and are in juice cleanses, then can obviously speak for themselves, they don’t need people to baby them and be offended for them
Completely agree, she’s sharing this with us because it would be interesting to those who have not tried juice cleanses yet (like me). And for her to feel bloated and wanna feel better, it’s her choice! And as her fan I really don’t take her life goals as my own, because she just wants us to be the best version of ourselves... so why can’t she share her journey with us?
I love the blogilates community - I’m a Pop Pilates instructor myself, but I do agree with other comments stating this can be triggering for anyone who has had an eating disorder. I am happy to say I am nearly at 9 years (? I’m starting to lose track 😅) of full recovery from anorexia. However, even I found this to be triggering (although I do realise that might be stemming from a more vulnerable place than normal as my wedding is quickly approaching). I think my biggest issue is the title of this video, which is extremely triggering on its own. Please, if nothing else, simply change the title of this video to be more to the point about juice cleanses - perhaps simply, “3-Day Juice Cleanse Experiment: Pros and Cons”.
Kristy Bockus Please watch these documentaries. People have gone through worse hell than you could imagine and this is how juicing has helped them ua-cam.com/video/V-WUP5psyuM/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/Aaxa7rxEbyk/v-deo.html
We all know Cassie is a supportive and caring person so I don’t really understand the negativity. I understand people are recovering or dealing with eating disorders but she’s not endorsing this as an alternative to losing weight the healthy way. She just felt really bloated and altered her diet. I don’t see the need to question her integrity.
You weighed yourself at night for the first weigh-in and then in the morning for the second weigh-in. Did you realize that humans lose a fair amount of water weight overnight through sweat, moisture in exhalation, and urine? The fact that you're not consuming any hydration over night means that you can easily lose a few lbs just by sleeping. A better gauge for weight loss would be to do both weigh in s at the same time of day, so you should have done the first weigh-in the morning you started the juice cleanse and then the second weigh-in the morning after the juice cleanse.
Exactly, I’m no guru but I’m really surprised she made such a basic mistake. You can lose pounds just by going #2 and sleeping, so I’m surprised she basically stacked the deck like this.
Guys, calm down. Cassey made this video about something she did for herself. I understand that this could trigger people, BUT if people deleted everything that triggered someone this world would be such a boring place. If you get triggered then seek help, don't blame someone for your actions and thoughts, you decide what you do or think.
@@brownies869 its not being offended it's that some people who have an eating disorder that watch this could be triggered to starve themself. Especially people in recovery. So it's not that they are getting butt hurt.
Juice cleanses are really NOT the best thing one could do for the body in my opinion... A juice contains almost no fiber anymore but still A LOT of fructose, whilst lacking essential amino - and fatty acids (I could go on and on)- idk whether that sounds healthy🙉 ...
The thing is that this type of cleanse or Diet is supposed to be short-term. It is not a long-term solution. So it's perfectly fine and healthy for the body for a few days to be taking in plant-based nutrients. Not all of these types of juices come from straight fruit. Say like drinking a glass of orange juice is way worse! Because literally you just ate probably the sugar of 12 oranges. But these cleanses balance with juice from vegetables and other sources that are not straight sugar. They take that into account when creating a cleanse like this. Otherwise we would all just drink 6 large glasses of orange juice everyday and expect to lose weight. Haha. 😉😀
Krystal Weston I fast regularly, I never said something against the concept of fasting! But I am sorry that I might have not made that clear enough... :)
I understand where people are coming from, I truly do. With that being said, all this negativity is a bit strange to me. Cassie is a youtuber, part time. It is her job to create interesting content for people to view. She has made HUNDREDS of inspiration, instructional, and helpful videos for you all to consume, this video is no different to me. I found it interesting. It is not Cassie's job to prevent others from an eating disorder. Triggers are literally everywhere and can be anything. Should she delete her whole page because health and fitness videos can trigger someone with a mental disorder? No, of course not. Juice cleanses every now and then are not inherently bad. Ive done it for a week and was completely fine and healthy. Do I have an eating disorder? no. People around the world fast for hours or even days at a time. Do they have eating disorders? no. Are they unhealthy because of it? I doubt it.
THANK YOU! PREACH THIS MESSAGE OH MY GOD! People honestly just need to be stronger mentally than to find every small thing triggering, like toughen up sweetie, the world isn't going to be nice to you, you just have to get used to it.
Thank you, I’ve been reading the comments and everyone has been so crazy. I know people who do juice cleaned from now and then and it won’t kill you. All the hate should just die down, give her a break. It was a good and interesting video, and if anything inspires people to try and make healthier habit not starve themselves. Everyone just needs to calm down!!
Yeah, no. In her position, as someone in a position of authority who runs a fitness channel with lots of impressionable subscribers (and she will know this - plenty of young, impressionable folks sub to this channel), she DOES have a responsibility to make safe recommendations. 'Not eating for three days' isn't just some random trigger confined to a handful of people, it's extremely common amongst ED survivors, not to mention it can lead to unhealthy patterns in people who don't have an ED history but who don't know better. It's not even the trigger capacity, though that's bad enough in itself - it's a really unhealthy recommendation to make and I'm disappointed to see it from a channel that USUALLY offers good advice. "Juice cleanses every now and then are not inherently bad. Ive done it for a week and was completely fine and healthy" - sorry, are you a doctor? Just because you were okay does not mean that this is a safe or sane thing to do, that it will be okay for the majority of people, that you could repeat it safely etc. There is no good evidence to show that juice cleanses actually benefit health, but there is evidence to show they can be harmful. I think this is a really dangerous sentiment.
I see a lot of negative comments here, but honestly, I thought this video was helpful/interesting to those who would want to consider going on a cleanse and perhaps what kind of results someone might have. She not the only one who's done this before so you shouldnt stress or worry too much.
OMG so many negative comments. Its not like she is encouraging juice cleansing and she does mention to do our own research and talk to a nutritionist or doctor if anyone would want to try. Not like she saying since she had results for her (and Sam) then any of us out there should try it. We are all responsible for our choices and we cant blame anyone who's trying something new and sharing a video about it. For anyone who's saying they had an eating disorder then you know whats good and whats not for you. I think its actually very brave and honest to share this video.
Biddy Mahy You can’t blame her for someone’s mental health. She’s not trying to cause harm. If someone has an eating disorder they can’t blame her because they chose to watch the video.
Cassey I really appreciated this video! I loved your honesty about the reasons for doing it and the potential cons. This didnt feel like a fad video, the way you approached it was the way I would approach it too. Thank you for shedding a little light onto the cleanse!
I may do a 3 day water fast to kick start some weight loss, and start intermittent fasting and keto, all while working out, doing yoga, and going on walks and starting to eat more Whole Foods and not eating out at all!! I’m so ready to change my lifestyle, but I NEED A BOOST! I started intermittent fasting at the beginning of the year and went from 151 down to 135 in a month (I’m 5’4-5’5 so my goal weight is 100-110 depending on how toned I wanna be)
I don't wanna be that person but you might want to change the title - it can be pretty triggering (ik ik i'm sorry) to people who've suffered from eating disorders (personal experience not projecting) sorry again - hope the cleanse went well edit: fixed some typos
I don’t even have an eating disorder or anything but when I saw the title and the I saw that blogilates posted it, i thought nooo. Bc she promotes a healthy lifestyle and everything. But I get that it’s just clickbait
How does it not seems safe if you are getting all the nutrition you need?that doesn’t make any sense to me. Casey doesn’t have an eating disorder so it’s totally fine for her. I also don’t think it makes sense say what is or isn’t safe for people with eating disorders, everyone is different and some people with eating disorders do juice cleanses and are not triggered. Not trying to argue I just don’t think your comment makes sense
you were "bloated and breaking out like crazy" from eating everything your heart desired. so instead of returning to your normal diet and allowing your body to return to normal, you decided to crash diet for three days. you have mentioned your disordered eating before so i'm wondering how it is that you don't recognize your own behavior. i'm really disappointed.
I just found you channel. I think it is great for people of all levels. I have never done a cleans before. However I had a juicer in my mid 20s. After I joined the Marines and moved to Okinawa I bought a blender. This brought me into shakes, because I still had all the pulp and fiber my juicer was removing. My favorite thing to do was to cut up and freeze the fruit and veggies I would use in my shake. To the fruit and veggies I would add vanilla protein powder, uncooked rolled oats, peanut butter, and honey. This really made it a full meal and would last me most of the day. Now I use a Costco frozen fruit blend with the same add-ins. Yes it makes a large shake but it is not bloating or heavy. Oh don't forget your choice of liquid or you will be eating it with a spoon. Thank you for sharing
I’ve also read that juice cleanses aren’t recommended for people with GERD or acid reflux. Not sure why exactly, I guess all the acidity from certain juices & that being the only thing you consume, perhaps.
I've watched Cassey since I was in high school so for 6 years now, and while I support her in the things she does, I really don't like this video. As others have said, Googling and from blogs and reviews is not research. You need to look at peer-reviewed journal articles. It's been proven that juice cleanses and detoxes are nothing but a sham. Your body does everything it needs to detoxify itself, it's the whole purpose of your kidneys and liver. Of course you're going to feel lighter if you don't eat solid food. Juices are high in sugar and low in fibre which is bad for digestion. It's not that if you're under 18 you should check with your doctor - if you're making any big health changes in your life, you should check with your doctor, who will likely ask you why you're doing it and recommend something else. Yes, people will see this and think you're a bad role model and are doing a fad cleanse because you're doing a fad cleanse. I don't necessarily think you're a bad role model but if the only reason why you did this was because of curiosity, it would've just been better if you had included scientific research on it and recommended against it. It's not just that you're sharing the results, it feels like a promotion. A lot of young girls look up to you and even though you didn't ask to be a role model, you are with your audience and being in the health field which gives you credibility.
Don't let these companies steal your money by lying to you and getting you to advertise for them :) I'm a nutritionist and a juice cleanse just isn't a thing. Your body does all the detoxing it needs. If you feel heavy and bloated by all means listen to your body and take it easy, maybe eat a little less if u don't feel very hungry, just eat simply for a few days... You seem a lovely person so I'm sure you don't mean this to be problematic but it's always best not to show bikini pics or mention numbers i.e. calories or weight, as this is very dangerous for people with eating disorders and just people in general who will compare without knowing all the facts. This kind of restriction can make our bodies panic and cause over eating and weight gain in the long run (not that this is necessarily even bad it's just how our bodies keep us Alive and safe) ... Best wishes Cassey! I hope you're not too down about all these comments. I personally think it's great everyone is getting so aware of such risks and fads :) it's great we can all share as well and inform one another!
I'd love to see a day in your life, maybe you trying a meditation challenge, a journaling challenge, a SPA TREATMENT/DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE routine, etc? :)
I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about this. Aside from the "cleanses dont work, if your liver and kidney are functioning you're fine" is, I'm kinda worried for Casey. She's talked really openly about her eating disorder and with weddings being so stressful (cuz shes been open about what wedding planning was doing to her family too) could all that stress be pushing her back into her eating disorder thought patterns? Shes had other videos where she's discussed how dangerous crash and fad diets are and I know this was just an "experiment" but its setting off flags for me. Also, if you're gonna do a cleanse (even though they're hooky) wouldn't it be more affordable to blend the juice yourself? That way you know 100% what's in it, and even get some fiber in by adding flaxseed powder and protein with chia seeds or something? You're not getting all your macros on a juice cleanse so that ain't great... at least it was only 3 days and her motabalism will bounce back to normal when she goes back to eating normal
I'm worried about Cassey, too. You know, eating disorder isn't just eating or not eating... It is a mental thing and body obsession and hurting and pushing yourself and when you're stressed, you get the whole package of it at once in your head. I wish the best for her and hope she doesn't get back into this disordered status she had years ago.
Exactly, eating disorders are a mental health condition, even when you're "cured" some of the thoughts are still there and with enough stress and the right cocktail of pressure anyone can relapse.
Since this “juice cleanse” worked for her, I am pretty sure that she would buy more and continue to consume it, I hate to say this but she is in the business of body fitness and that obviously will make her have lots of thoughts about her body image. I too hope she doesn’t have an eating disorder relapse.
That's what I was thinking too! I mean, if she gained that weight recently, she would have lost it anyway with her regular healthy diet and excercise...
I love that Cassey is sharing her experience with us! I've never try a juice cleanse before and I actually don't know what juice cleanse is. So, I really love this kind of video because I felt like I learned something new.
I just finished my first juice cleanse after being inspired by this video! Also did a 3 day, first timer juice cleanse from a juicery that's super accessible from my work and I have to say I was super pleasantly surprised by my experience. Each day was roughly 2.5L of juice/almond milk and I didn't feel hungry at all. I had expected to get hangry and potentially give up halfway through, but I felt absolutely no different from usual (aside from having to go to the washroom more often from the liquids). Strangely enough, I actually had a hard time finishing all the juice in a day; I might not have even needed that much. I also didn't experience any cravings, even when my co-workers were eating chicken wings in the kitchen. I was still able to do all my cardio workouts throughout the cleanse and I ended my 3 days at 7lbs lighter than when I began. It's only been 2 days since I've finished though, so not sure if the weight will stay off, but this was an interesting experience. I think I might consider doing this again if I need to loser weight for events or special occasions, but the high price tag ($160 after taxes for me) is a little too much to do it on any kind of regular basis.
I haven’t done a juice cleanse but my friend did and after a few days she was in the hospital as she has a very low protein count so the juice cleanse made it worse that was a couple years ago so she is fine now so just a word of warning always always always talk to you doctor before you try any new diets that are a huge change from your normal diet
Thank you for posting this video and providing your feedback on the experience. It's nice to hear about these things from a real person and not just from magazines and infomercials. I also like that you point out how important it is to know your body and know what you can handle before trying something like this. Great video, Cassey!
Me: I could easily do this challenge! Me: Got an eating disorder. Ha ha ha Edit: I am not joking about this I did do this and ended up with an eating disorder. I just like to make situations a bit lighter because that’s just how I cope.
Gabrielux_7 I wasn’t joking. Sadly... I actually did do this challenge about 4 years ago and ended up with an eating disorder. I just don’t like to be all serious about it all the time because it helps me cope. I didn’t think it would probably sound offensive to others so sorry for that.
Feeling cold or tired during a cleanse (typically due to electrolyte depletion) can often be solved by adding a pinch of salt to your juices or drinking some salted broth. 🙃
I survived day 1. Let’s see how long I can last. Edit: 2 hours since I commented and still looking good 👍 Day 2: I had to start eating small amounts of food. I was getting headaches and feeling faint. My parents were very concerned 😅
Those cons really make it sounds like a juice cleanse is good for you 😂 I’ll just stick to eating my fruit and veggies (and all my other healthy foods)
SO MANY PLASTIC BOTTLES THOUGH. This could have been done in such a more eco friendly way. Please take into consideration what you are actually encouraging others to buy, imagine how many plastic bottles will go in the bin after literally 2 minutes of use. I hope you can look into this in the future, i don't expect you to be a perfect role model but you are a influence in other people's life, so i'd hope you could start looking better options that are not as harmful to nature.
There's nothing wrong with cleansing, juicing, or dieting. But let's not pretend thats why people are mad about this. It's your whole approach to it, the negativity and the title. Yikes
there is something wrong with “cleansing” and juicing. you’re basically starving yourself and it’s been proven there’s no benefits and it’s actually harming your body.
Many people are commenting that this is unhealthy and that bilogates is setting a negative example with this video, however, it is clear that she has made sure that she has done her research. Actually a juice cleanse, as long as heavily researched (it could also be a good idea to ask a professional) can have loads of health benefits!! ❤️
Casey, I live your workouts and your knowledge and personality. It has been a privilege to be your student. But I must ask you to heed the comments below. I get that bloating a lot is physically uncomfortable but maybe rethink the title/wording? As a 46 yr old who has an eating disorder for 30 yes 30 years, I can see how this could be a trigger. I don't use that word lightly. To all who have an EO..KEEP FIGHTING
Why pay so much for juice? You could make it at home with fresh fruit and veggies blended. Youd have more control over additives and sugars too. While I'm dieting I have soup for dinner as a before-bed cleanse, but I always make it myself.
Awesome! Thank you for being brave enough to share your experience with others, despite those who find it negative. There is plenty of science around the benefits of juice cleanses on your body's digestive system and gut biome and it's always nice to hear someones actual experience. PS, way to go! That takes SOOOO much self control!
This is just not a good idea, not for the average person. Hopefully people will not get motivated to try this because you already know that no one is going to buy a 100$ juice, they will buy store brands and whatnot and starve themselves.
I'm glad you actually consumed calories and actually got nutrients,. I feel like people in the comment section did not watch the whole video. I've always wondered what it is like.
YES Cassey, so last Friday afternoon I watched this video of yours and I decided to do it too, also because I wanna be lighter, feeling more clear-minded and training more. And I did it! Tonight is the last night before bedtime. I feel #FantasticDoingDiet simply thanks to you! You are being super honest! And I love the confession that you don't like overloaded sugar, as I am the same! So just fruit juice alone is very sugary, too much to have for a day. Thus I swapped to veggie smoothies like cucumber, lettuce blended ones. These ones are so hydrating and really really light up myself as a brandnew person. I feel very light and clear, not bloated at all. I loveeee this video and love your genuine words!
*I tried This and lasted only 4hours, I almost saw the light*

THIS!!! THIS IS WHAT IT IS ABOUT!!!
Well... not gonna lie I came here to see what it would do to you...🤷♀️
I was honestly really appreciative for the pros and cons because she is really letting everyone know that it's not some miracle juice and she's not saying you should definitely do this. She did it for herself, while also giving information for the people who will see this video and ask if they should do it or not.
Say she one more god damn time.

Hi Cassadee, what would you recommend as a good cleanse if you're feeling bloated all the time?
actually there's no such thing as "cleansing" in a nutritionist's point of view.
Exactly! Thank you!
Cassadee Wong This needs to be top comment I swear I clicked this thinking it’s an extended fasting video
woohoo so glad you wrote this! so many people are unaware!
I did the same thing as her. I am at the end of my 3rd day and I lost almost 10 pounds. I am wondering if I should go for longer.
Please don't go any longer
I started out doing this and it developed in to an eating disorder, please eat :(
@@dumbestbich8023 Food disorders have nothing to do with the food itself or fasting, it's ALL in the MiND, its about how you see yourself, related to self-love, better said not loving yourself and not feeling others love. It's not something that you just "developed" cause you fasted yesterday, it was always there but manifested in a different form. So please don't blame it on fasting and get some expert help, talk to someone.
Hello 👋 what was your height and weight and age when you did this?

Only water? Did you have the juice she had or was it literally only water? For how many days?
@@im_lilas_ the times I have been placed on “liquids” is typically associated when my Crohn’s is flared or if I feel a flare up coming. Typical broth, tea, juices but no solids for at least 24 hours sometimes up to 3 days. But again this is NOT typical for everyone (with or without Crohn’s) I have had this disease for over 2 decades so my body is accustomed to doing these breaks And only when I am not feeling well with my flare ups. I would not suggest this unless it’s been recommended by a doctor or in conjunction with working with a doctor. ☺️☺️
@@claribelcorona I have Crohn's too and I do the same! Intestinal rest can help but always check with your doctor
She technically didn’t clickbait us the title is *eating* nothing for 3 days” she was just drinking not eating
hahahah truee
A person can go 40-50 days without eating before they die but you can’t go more than 3-4 days without drinking anything so 3 days isn’t that bad plus this is for her she’s not telling anyone they have to do it too it’s her life, relax
andrea diaz 3 weeks is the max for not eating..
Alyssa Schenk no it’s not you can go for more than 3 weeks it just leaves permanent damage
andrea diaz Look it up. I learned this in like 2nd grade lmao
The vanilla almond was my fave!
@@hailybywater7839can you tell me which recipes did you use?
@@Mm-jz5ku I made a green smoothie with parsley, lime juice, cucumber and tomato( I added garlic for taste). Then a creamy Smoothie with berries and avocado as a tasty snack. It did taste good, and I would definitely have it again.
Not eating a single plate of food for three days isn’t starving yourself...it’s called a fast and it’s very healthy lol

food ,no smoking ,no medicine

Glad you learned something!
This is not science and Cassie you are being extremely irresponsible!
Are you actually serious ? This is soo far from good science or education
This is actually extremely unhealthy and dangerous
From the thumbnail I was expecting you to talk about how unhealthy it is, and how badly it affected you. Like apparently every other commenter here, as someone recovering from an eating disorder, juice cleanses are inherently disordered behaviour.
I was thinking the same thing, really disappointed
nope. Juice cleanses can be amazing, reclaiming health, absorbing tons of nutrients. It's absolutely the opposite of disordered.
@@ehaley6838 There is no reason to "cleanse", your kidneys already do that job, and drinking juices made from fruits and veggies (so low caloric) instead of actually eating? Yeah, pretty disordered behaviour.
A person who claims that fad diet cleanses are not disordered eating, probably has disordered eating patterns and is in denial about it.
Yeah this video makes me mad because it's kinda promoting not eating/eating disorder

Leilani Holbrook she is entitled to her own opinion.
yeah ...I thought she was like the one person who was inspiring in the fitness front ! For people with eating disorders, this is a major trigger
I don't think this was negative... her view of her own body is just that and she stated her intentions weren't for weight loss. She shared her experience and while she lost weight her concern was taking care of the bloating. Her experience not others.
She's allowed to have bad opinions about her body ...staying positivity for social media all the time can be tiring let her be honest
Yeah... I wouldn't be able to do this...

Isn’t it the more weight you lose the harder it becomes to lose it?
Interesting video, but that title is pretty problematic. In a society where eating disorders are super prevalent and women especially are encouraged to not eat as a means of losing weight (which we all know is unhealthy), I feel like saying "I didn't eat for 3 days" is sending out a really bad message. Especially since it's coming from a very popular name in the fitness industry. I love your videos Cassey, but I would just suggest considering the effect that this video's title might have and the mindsets it might create.
Emily Matisko fasting is a very normal and healthy thing to do if you don’t have problems with eating disorders . Maybe she should have a disclaimer
She’s not saying it was a good thing geez and all women aren’t encouraged to have eating disorders, that’s just a lie. Sorry the real world doesn’t fit your agenda
I agree. I think everything about the video is cool except the title. Could have been "I tried a juice cleanse."
Yeah the title sounds a bit clickbaity in my opinion
I’m glad you pointed that out but I hope you keep in mind she is not trying do mean or do any harm
This isn’t starving omg how many times does she have to say she consumed all the calories she needed and she did not starve herself?
(For example, I believe the 28 Day Reset is a diet through and through no matter what Cassey advertises.)
Therefore, the solution is to just not listen to everything she says.
“ U didn’t eat for 3 days” wow not kids are gonna do this and starve themselves and eventually get sick your such a good influence .
Arielle! You cant do everything you see on the internet! Have a grilled cheese and some veggies
Or even if she added a trigger warning at the beginning..

If you get triggered then seek help, don't blame someone for your actions and thoughts, you decide what you do or think.
ikr!!! people dont miss one chance at getting offended.

Haha. 😉😀
She put it nicely that she couldn't crap and all the sugar made her break out, but it was just a 3 day experiment.
Yeah she literally said that in the video
There’s plenty of studies that show that fasting is beneficial for your health.

Sorry for the bad misspelling, typing on my phone :)
Preach!

You can’t blame her for someone’s mental health.

Doesnt seem...safe. especially for those with eating disorders
bunny i have an ed and i’m doing a juice cleanse right now 😬
If you are hitting your nutritional values, there is no issue. Heck she shows the overload of sugar caused her issues.
Anna xo it's a healthy diet. Calm tf down
I just found you channel.
Thank you for sharing
i'm so proud of you for doing this for both yourself and science! I've been wanting to do a juice cleanse for a while but it's so expensive😂

Yes so expensive!!!!
Okay good! Because those juicing companies out there make a HUGE profit by giving you convenience.
I’ve also read that juice cleanses aren’t recommended for people with GERD or acid reflux. Not sure why exactly, I guess all the acidity from certain juices & that being the only thing you consume, perhaps.
Great... now I can't do it

The weigh in at night, end results weighed in the morning.. that already makes such a difference
A lot of young girls look up to you and even though you didn't ask to be a role model, you are with your audience and being in the health field which gives you credibility.
what about people who don't have a healthy liver/kidneys?

"side note, im feeling like im a little bit farty...."
I’m curious to how much you weighed before Hawaii though. Maybe all the bloated weight from Hawaii shedded off during the cleanse?
That's what I was thinking too! I mean, if she gained that weight recently, she would have lost it anyway with her regular healthy diet and excercise...
I could not manage that how the heck do u do that.

The title of this video is pretty problematic in my opinion......
YES IT HAS SOUND NOW
Yayyy so happy.

Many people are commenting that this is unhealthy and that bilogates is setting a negative example with this video, however, it is clear that she has made sure that she has done her research. Actually a juice cleanse, as long as heavily researched (it could also be a good idea to ask a professional) can have loads of health benefits!! ❤️

I'm glad you actually consumed calories and actually got nutrients,. I feel like people in the comment section did not watch the whole video. I've always wondered what it is like.
Did anyone else notice the Liza koshy music at 5:36
Alice Quaranta omg me 😂
