You can do a trial of betaine HCL or lemon or ACV consistenly before meals and see how you feel after a week or 2. If no change, stomach acid liekly isn't a problem. I used to do well taking ACV with meals but I’ve been recently post antibiotic super sensitive to histamine which ACV apparently can increase so I’ll try the lemon juice trick thank you ♥️
About 3 years ago I was extremely ill. Ended up in A&E twice thinking I was having a heart attack. This happened after taking Naproxen for shoulder pain and Omeprazol (PPI) to ‘coat and protect’ the stomach. I had days I could not get out of bed. Finally diagnosed with bile reflux and gastritis. Tried all these tips including HCL. But do you know in the end what cured all my digestive problems? Going low carb (almost carnivore). It’s very simple. Eating protein especially animal protein like steak stimulates acid production whereas carbohydrate inhibits. It took quite a while to feel better but never had any more stomach problems.

I used to get severe pain in my stomach years back. Doctors called it gastritis and prescribed many drugs. Everything just worked for a short while. GREAT video!! I know someone who was merely unable to digest food well. No GERD, heartburn, nor gallbladder pain. Stools were pale, however. Then one day he barfed. The contents were as neutral as water (no burning). So he tried your tricks. Lemon helped. Tangerines helped. Grapefruits helped a lot. Several teaspoons apple cider vinegar helped, too. Chewing like crazy helped immensely. Stools returned to normal. My guess is the acid somehow helps stimulate gall bladder into releasing bile. Since he's vegan, he will try Igennus betaine HCL with enzymes.
Hello, started having problems after inflammed gallbladder removed. I didn't know what was wrong at first. Many trips to ER, because symptoms were high blood pressure, headache, dizziness, nausea. Misdiagnosed as a hypertension problem. Finally, the nausea, bloating, constipation and diarrhea and acid reflux got out of control. Had thr H-Pylori test come back negative. Just had the stomach emptying scan and normal results. Have been waiting sixty days to see GI specialist. Something not right. Had a bowl of chicken noodle soup about an hour before my 4 mile walk. Kept regurgitating soup, but the say my stomach empties normally. Yesterday only drank ginger tea before my walk. I kept regurgitating what can only be described as a foam. Even with stomach empty, the jostling and lung expansion causes an upward migration of stomach contents up into esophagus. Sad that they tried to get me to see the nuse practitioner instead of GI specialist. I know Im going to have to take the reins and tell the doctor to check me for esophageal ulcer, and to tell them not to automatically put me on proton pump inhibitor to aggravate the problem of low hcl--if they'll even test me for that. Doctor, dont pawn me off on the nurse practitioner with a bandaid remedy for the nausea. Do an endoscopy. I'll have to be really sweet about it because once you offend a doctor, they could care less about you.

My husband passed away two yrs this month. I have been under constant stress and trauma since losing my husband. I am now suffering stomach pain, burning, burping, feeling of fullness and difficulty having bowel movements. It also has felt like food doesn't want to move out of the stomach. Very slow digestion. I also have pain around the gallbladder. I am assuming chronic stress has caused all of this. Will increasing stomach acid help with these issues?
Hi Lynn, it's possible...the only way to tell would be to try out supplementing and see if you feel better. I'm sorry for your loss :( Grief can really overwhelm our stress buffer. I would guess that investing in ways to better manage your stress and get support with your trauma/grief would be a very important part of your healing process. AND, I also wouldn't overlook physical causes.
What you feeling is exactly what my cousin is going through now. She takes 2 spoons of apple cider vinegar before meals, takes ox bile pills from Amazon one hour after meal and eat a small bowl of salad everyday, cut back on carbohydrate and drink lemon water everyday. and drink water too. I just drank a full tsp of baking soda in the morning on an empty stomach and got two small burps. Does that constitute a volcano? I think my stomach acid is low... Now if only I could find a doctor who gives a care...
I was suffering with severe GERD and my Dr. told me to take Omeprazole, although it worked, I couldn't keep taking it because it prevents the body from absorbing iron, and I already suffer with hereditary hemolytic anemia. I suddenly got a lot worse the past 2 weeks where I can't even eat, my stomach feels so bloated I feel I can't even drink water; it feels like it stays in my throat and won't go down, like my stomach is completely full even though I have barely eaten anything in 2 weeks. I wake up with nausea, spend all day with it, go to bed with it and have severe GERD when I lie down. I tried the apple cider vinegar, but just couldn't drink it. I tried lemon juice and that helped just slightly. I just got some Betaine HCL, that doesn't seem to be helping much, but maybe I am not taking enough.

It shouldn't really take all that long, but if it's continuing to be out of balance, that may be an indicator that some deeper level work may need to be done to resolve underlying infections or other causes. If you are doing comprehensive gut healing work, maybe 6-9 months in, you could stop supplementing.

Hi Margaret, great question...two common causes of low stomach acid and intrinsic factor production are H. pylori infection and Hashimoto's disease (hypothyroidism) or other autoimmune conditions. Lifestyle solutions like diet and probiotics and lowering stress can go a long ways toward getting any autoimmunity under control, and can also help resolve gut infections, though this often requires further treatment with a doctor or naturopath. I was able to eliminate my symptoms with d-limonene to help get the bad alkaline producing bacteria under control. Then supplement with betaine hydrochloride during meals to reacidify the stomach. Then beet flow beet leaf extract (not beet root) to make sure bile is flowing to neutralize the acid before it hits the small intestine. It's important not to supplement with betaine hcl unless you are also taking something to assist bile flow. I used beet flow beet leaf extract from empirical labs. Bile salts can be a substitute to beet leaf extract, to supplement bile flow, but NOT with your meal. Ox bile shouldn't be taken with food, It'll just neutralize the acid in the stomach where it's not supposed to. Take bile salts (ox bile) in between meals if you cannot get beet flow. Still learning but man it's good to be able to eat what i want again

@@lisacarle1686 hello Lisa, first you need to determine what the cause of your reflux is. If it is due to a hiatal hernia you will need to address that first. Check out Kick It Naturally UA-cam channel for some good tips on that. If you don't think you have a hiatal hernia, antimicrobials can definitely help, but what I've come to realize is as long as you are eating carbs and sugar you will keep feeding the bad bacteria that are giving you issues. I got rid of it My reflux, then it seemed to come back every time I would eat carbs, sugar, and starch. Well as of about a month and a half ago I went strict carnivore diet with a zero carbs and zero sugar and zero starch, my reflux disappeared again on day one. So far my reflux has never come back, I've lost about 30 lb and I can see my six pack again! I can't even begin to tell you how amazing I feel on a strict carnivore diet. If you can figure out a way to slowly cut the carbs in sugar over the course of the next 6 weeks, to eventually get down to zero carbs, that should give you the best chance of eliminating the source of fuel for the bad bacteria.

Hi HB, thanks for your question! Stomach acid tends to decrease as we age, and is quite common if you are >60. IN terms of how long you should use ACV, this depends on your symptoms. I often suggest to my clients that they should use at every meal, and we assess how they are responding. If it feels like it isn't helping, or things are getting worse, we stop. If it's improving, I have them keep going. Once they feel better, they can reduce frequency/dosage if they don't regress. In general, listen to your body's feedback as a guide. Hi NK, your body is giving you a pretty clear sign that ACV probably isn't right...the itching can be sign that the ACV is triggering some kind of histamine or candida issue...lemon in water is another option, but is also a histamine liberator for some, and betaine HCL is supplement option. I watched this video last night and did one simple little change to my first meal of the day the next morning. Normally I drink about 20 -22 oz of ice cold water with my meal. Prior to eating that first meal today I took one Betaine and only drank a couple of ounces of water with my meal, I have been constipated for weeks if not months. This evening my stool was as normal as can be. A little pale, but what a nice change.

I’m late to this video but the last two years I’ve been dealing with silent reflux and Globus sensation. My nutritionist had me do the baking soda test once for three days and nothing happened so she put me on ACV before meals and wow is it ever helping! It’s not fully gone yet but getting there. I had low b-12 as well so taking that as a supplement. I love your tip of not drinking water too soon before or after food. I’ll start doing that as well. My question is, is this a for the rest of my life tho g that I have to do, or will my body start producing stomach acid in its own eventually? If so, How long on average does that take? Hi Carly, it's not necessarily forever, but in some cases it may be something that needs attention long term. IT depends on the reasons why your stomach acid is low. It tends to decrease as we age normally. Certain medications can reduce it (like PPIs of course, but others as well), H pylori infection can reduce it, and autoimmunity to the stomach cells that produce the acid can also be a root cause. Once you're back to sufficiency, you may be able to drop your use back or stop, and only occassionally use. I usually suggest to my clients that they should just gauge what they need by what their body is telling them. I'm glad it's helped you!

Hi Arshiya, thanks for watching :) Esophagitis could be related to low stomach acid, since low stomach acid can affect how well the stomach stays closed at the top. But there can also be other causes. I do hope you get the shortness of breath checked by a doctor. Than can be many reasons for this, but it's best to rule out more medical explanations first. Additionally, if you have irritation in the esophagus, increasing stomach acid could aggravate it, so you may want to explore why you have this irritation, and work to calm it before increasing acid.

I tried tiny amounts of ACV dilluted in water but every time I notice blood and mucus the day after. Is it possible that ACV leaves the stomach (e.g. due to unsufficient bile production) and irritates the mucus lining in the intestines? Not sure if I should continue with it but I need to fix my stomach acid to overcome my Sibo. Any suggestions would be much appreciated 🤗
Hi Agnieszka, thanks so much for watching :) It sounds like your body is giving you a clear sign that acid supplementation is NOT a good idea. In concept yes, in practice, no. If recurrent SIBO is a problem, as well as UC, I suggest checking Dr. Ruscio's approach in his book Healthy Gut, Healthy You, or his many vidoes and podcasts. Specifically, multi-probiotic therapy, an elemental diet, or motility supports may be helpful.

Hi Lydia, sorry for the confusion...if you're going to do the test, you mix baking soda and water. If you mix AVC and baking soda, you can see why the test works. When you mix the vinegar with the baking soda, it fizzes and makes gas! Hope that helps!

Hi Saurabh, you can increase at whatever rate feels right. I typically suggest people go slower than they are initially inclined. Stay with a low dose for a few days, or longer, before increasing. LEt your focus be on HOW your body feels and responds to direct your changes. IF you find they help, then I generally suggest you commit to a one-month trial, then try weaning off to see if you can maintain your results. I would probably suggest slowly tapering off. I notice a lot of liquid sits in my stomach long after a meal, like 4, 5, 6 hours, I can literally move and hear n feel the liquid sloshing. I tend to get most of my gerd burning at this point. Is this a sign of low acid ?
Hi Giant Robot, thanks for watching. I would definitely consider low stomach acid as a factor in these symptoms, as stomach acid helps your food move through your intestines. THere could, however, be other causes. Looking at the whole situation in context is important! But supporting stomach acid is a easy, inexpensive first-line-of-defense thing to test and see how you respond.
I was feeling this as well right when my gerd symptoms started. I thought it was swelling in my gut. It may be that the phyloric sphincter stays closed because the ph of the stomach is too high.

Hi Cold Play, thanks for watching. This is a great and common question! Lemon is indeed an "alkalizing" food for the body on the whole, but it's localized effect when first ingested is, of course, acidic. You can physically watch this effect by putting some lemon juice onto sauteeing purple cabbage, and watch how the color changes from dark purple to pink. The alkalizing effect of foods or groups of foods is more about the overall effect on *blood* pH, and less about their intrinsic properties. Apple cider vinegar, the other option I mention in the video, is also an alkalizing food, as are veggies, fruits, nuts, and seeds, while meat, dairy, and sugar are acidifying foods. Does that help?
@@ConfluenceNutrition So it's all depend on the time we take those options (lemon juice, vinegar apple cider, pickled foods ...), JUST BEFORE the meal is the right time. However, if it is not the case that they will only rise stomach's PH as if we are eating fruit or veggie before the meal (alkalizing foods need liquidity in the stomach to be alkaline in order to be digested). Do you agree ?. One last question is there a test for stomach's PH?
@@coldplay3455 I'm a little confused about your question. What I think you're asking is "Is using locally acidifying foods before meals the appropriate time to eat them?" If that's your question, the answer is yes. 15 minutes or so before the meal is the right time to use this support. Regarding testing for stomach pH: the conventional medical test is called the Heidelberg test, where you swallow a mini electronic sensor device in the doctor's office, and then swallow repeated doses of baking soda water. If stomach acid doesn't rebound normally, as sensed by the little device, you are diagnosed with low stomach acid (hypochlorhydria). An at-home test to see if you are making enough stomach acid is to drink 1/4 tsp baking soda in 8 oz water first thing in the morning. If you burp a bunch, this indicates that the baking soda is combining with your stomach acid to produce gas bubbles, meaning you have stomach acid. If you get no burping, you may be deficient in stomach acid. It's not a perfect test, but could provide some useful clues.

Hi, thanks for this question...not knowing about your case history makes it hard to say...but here's what I can tell you: stomach acid tends to decrease as we age. It can also decrease due to certain infections, hormones, thyroid health. Lots of reasons. How long it takes to heal depends on the root cause. Some people are able to restore their gut function in a matter of months, others may need continual support to maintain function. If you don't want to keep using HCL pills, you can explore using digestive bitters (stimulates digestive juices), or drink a little lemon juice or apple cider vinegar in water before meals as a gentle, food-based support. @@ilovehouse888 they definitely can, but one of the most common culprits is infection with H. pylori, a bacteria that likes things less acidic. Low stomach acid can disrupt many digestive functions downstream, and can make you more susceptible to parasite infection, as stomach acid is our first line of defense against parasites and pathogenic bacteria.
I did the baking soda test and I only burped once, and it took about 20 minutes after I drank the stuff. But the whole time waiting I did feel right away that I wanted to burp. So does this mean I have a low stomach acid problem? I do have a Hiatal Hernia and was on a PPI for a very long time. I've been off the PPI for about 2 months now. I only get acid reflex if I eat the wrong food. I've been on a very strict diet for about 4 months now. Lost 22 pounds. I had high blood pressure for awhile but since the diet, I'm pretty normal now. This highlights the gray area and non-exact nature of this "test". It's inconclusive. The next best thing is to test out supplementing and see if your body feels better or worse.
I am on Prednisone for pmr. I was using acv but had stopped.But i was having slow digestion,felt like i ate a brick.So started the acv again and immediately felt better and helped my constipation.I think an excess of coffee in the morning was diluting my stomach acid.I also cut that back.
It should encourage acid production, as it kind of ramps up all the metabolic processes, but every body is different and there are always exceptions to the rule.

If it really is just low stomach acid, using ACV may help rebalance things, and you could stop after a few weeks. If there is another underlying cause, you may need to work on other things...This work is really a process of finding what your body needs, and adapting your habits to give it what it needs. There are so many different options, it's hard to pick just one. I tend to stick with the higher end supplement brands (Pure Encapsulations, Thorne, Designs for Health, etc.), to avoid excess additives and allergens, but there could certainly be other options. Hope that helps.
Hi, just a question I'm on my 9th capsule per meal which by the way contains 325mg of betaine HCL and 59mg of pepsin and I don't feel any of those warming/acid reflux symptoms but what I feel is like a not so good feeling on my stomach like if I would be ill-tempered, don't know to explain, what should I do, should I keep increasing the dosage or do I dial it down?? I mainly eat Plant base besides sometimes eating eggs don't know if that matters.
Hi Toninho, I would reduce the dose...even though you're not feeling burning, that uncomfortable sensation is a signal that needs to paid attention to. Large doses in the long term can be damaging. I would likely reduce to 1-3 capsules max per meal. Take good care!
I have some symptoms which I think are related with reflux, but not sure, so I want to ask you about it. I have bad breath sometimes even 2 hours after eating. I usually wake up with brown saliva on my mouth with extreme bad breath and also I wake up with blocked-up nose which is not like I have in the common cold. Do you think these symptoms are related to reflux or something else? Can you please help me about it?
I have watched your videos over and over about low acid. I've done the tests and I feel confident thats my problem So, Ive started a regimen of Betaine HCL and also ACV tablets. It appears to be working and I'm no longer experiencing the burning in my chest after eating and when I walk and move around. In your experience, do think that by fixing the stomach, it can help with blood pressure and elevated glucose readings? It seems to me that this has been a problem for longer than I can remember.
Hi Rebecca, it may indirectly help support healthy blood pressure and glucose levels, but an appropriate diet and eating routines are some of the most effective lifestyle options to help with these issues: lower carb, minimize processed carbs (sugars, flours, etc.), moderate protein, moderate to high fat, fast between meals at least 4 hours, and at least a 12 hour fast overnight , longer if you can tolerate it. Also exercise after meals.

It sounds to me like your stomach acid is likely fine. But there are lots of things to consider...Are you doing the test because you have digestive symptoms you're concerned about?

Hello i am diagnosed with gastritis for last two years. There is information to my stomach lining. My endoscopy reports says that i have FUNDIC GASTRITIS - ERYTHEMA SUBEPITHELIAL AND HEMORRHAGE. I was on ppi for two years that lead to lot of other problems like eczema, mouth ulcers, vitamin b12 and vitamin D deficiencies and also mouth ulcers. I am now eating bland diet but still i get lot of bloating hyperacidity acid reflux and mouth ulcers. There is always burning sensation in my stomach especially on upper part. I want to know how long it takes to heal stomach lining.
Hi Abhishek, thanks for watching...it can take a while, but with the right supports, you should be able to see some improvement within a few weeks even. I tried betaine HCl but got some pain. I typically get my GERD pains 2-3hrs after eating….like it’s on an empty stomach. Can’t tell if it’s too much or too little acid.
Hi Amy, regardless of whether its too much or too little acid, your stomach doesn't like it, so that's the important feedback. Have you been screened for H pylori?
Digestive bitters and bitter foods may help increase acid production, and acidic foods, like vinegars in salad dressings, or lemon juice, may temporarily increase acids to support digestion.

Hi Stu, How do you know you have low acid and protein leakage? Certain foods can definitely trigger palpitations, but so can other things...if food is a problem, I most frequently see it from high histamine foods. DGL may help with the pain. In general, I recommend people try one new thing at a time, and try to evaluate whether their hypothesis was right. Thanks for watching!

Palpitations are more like butterflies under my ribs now and again!! Was taking berberine but didn't help, doctor told me to take magnesium and idoine and b12 also as I was low on them!! Hi Fighter Man, it's not completely accurate, but you can drink 1/4 tsp baking soda in 8 oz water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. If no burping in 5 minutes, this indicates your stomach acid is low. Chances of low stomach acid increase if you are over 65, have one or more autoimmune disease (esp thyroid disease), and if you have anemia (low iron). Thanks for watching!
I'm sorry but I really can't say, it's so individualized. A simple experiment would be to temporarily remove most spices and then to trial adding them back in one at a time to figure out which ones work for you.
Doesn’t anyone have GERD due to having high stomach acid? It seems dangerous to suggest that that is a clearcut indicator for LOW stomach acid. I know it’s complicated - I’m trying to figure out if I have low stomach acid myself, or if mine is going up into the esophagus and I don’t have enough left in the stomach - but I want to tread lightly. I’m certainly going to try the baking soda thing.

I generally recommend my clients try something for a few weeks (like 2-4), and then re-evaluate at the end, but reducing or stopping and seeing what happens. If symptoms come back, keep going. If you nothing happens, you can safely stay off those supplements.

The first thing in the morning is used to drink 1 ltr of plain water and sometime I used to add lemon juice to that and used eat nothing after that for almost 1 hour and used to drink 8 ltrs of water a day, can be that the reason for low stomach acid ? Hi Suraj, thanks for watching and for your question. 8 liters of water is a lot for one day, so yes, this could be diluting your stomach acid. But the lemon water first thing is a wonderful way to start the day, and your stomach acid should be fine after the hour you wait to eat. Do try to avoid drinking a lot right before, or for 1 hour after eating.

Hi there, maybe try taking a smaller amount. I alwasy say, start low and go slow. Maybe start with 1/4 that amount, and see if you get the same reaction. If so, maybe HCL isn't right for you. If no reaction, you can slowly increase the amount every few meals and see how you respond. Keep the amount at a level that doesn't cause any reactions. Good luck!
Hi Christine, great question. If you body is needing acid support, using betaine HCL can be beneficial to support your whole digestive system function and absorption of nutrients like B12 and iron, even if you're only eating a vegetarian meal. And even though there isn't a lot of protein in things like bread and vegetables, there is some, and the stomach acid support helps make sure that ALL the protein is fully broken down. In the case of bread, this means that the gluten proteins are fully broken down and are less likely to trigger any inflammatory response (provided you aren't actually allergic to gluten/wheat). Many things may contribute: age (more likely after age 70), antibodies to the structures that create it, persistent antacid use, thryoid disease, etc. There are likely more than that, but that's a short list.
Hi Abhinav, it depends on how you respond, and whether you can maintain your improvement without. I usually suggest my clients use it daily with all meals for a few weeks. If they improve, then they can either keep going or try reducing it and see if they maintain improvement. If not, they continue. Does that help?
Hi i have used baking soda back in time cuz i was told it can help with acid reflux. But what happened it gave me severe pain in my stomach. Do u have explanation.
So I did the at home baking soda in water test in the morning before food, I burped once in about 10m after drinking it. So is that normal or slight indicator of low stomach acid? Should someone be burping more than once or sooner than that? Are there various degrees of low stomach acid, from a little low to extremely low?
There's no exact science to this technique, it's really a ballpark thing. If you burped, this means you have some stomach acid. If you're concerned it's low, you can experiment wtih increasing it to see if it positively or negatively impacts your symptoms.
The Betaine HCL tablets I take are about 658 mg. I've been experimenting to see how many I need to take to experience better digestion. Sometimes 4 will do it, sometimes I have closer to 8 and I don't feel it. I don't know if it's because my stomach acid is really that low that I need so much help, or if I'm not adding enough of the building blocks such as potassium and sodium, or if I'm still eating too fast and having too much water with meals. I feel like a drug addict doing it, but I haven't been at it for long and I don't seem to be getting worse. I've spent such a long time feeling as if food just sits there in my stomach not going anywhere and affecting the rest of my body, and now that I think it's likely low stomach acid, I'd really like to fix it. Thanks for your help.
Hi Andrew, you won't always "feel" the HCL. I think it's safer and more prudent to simply include the HCL on a regular basis at a low but consistent dose, and just evaluate how your digestion has improved, and use that to guide your approach. How does that land?

So far, my digestion has done better with more instead of less, along with very minimal water or other liquids. I'm hoping that someday I'll get to the point where I don't need that many anymore. I realize now that this is supposed to be a short term thing, so I don't want to go too long with this process. But I genuinely think that my issue since childhood has been low stomach acid and I just didn't know it.

why not just drink a glass of water with a teaspoon of sea salt in the morning? simple and little cost. diet of sea salt doesn’t boost up blood pressure.
I suffer from GERD. And just recently started having esophagus spasms. I need help figuring out what to take for the spasms I’ve been dealing with this for the past 6 months. I feel like it literally came from no where. I’ve had my esophagus dilated I seen no relief. Then I done the motility test just waiting for my results.
Hi Justine, thanks for watching. THat sounds uncomfortable :( ...was your esophagus dilated because you have a stricture from reflux? Have your doctors screened you for h. pylori infection? As you are investigating the root causes with your doctors, your skin sounds like it may need some soothing relief. Have you tried aloe vera juice or DGL? You might give those a try, before meals, to help coat the irritated skin. Take good care.
Hi can you describe your symptoms ? I think I might be dealing with the same issue as I also have GERD and get spams or some kind of palpitation in my stomach/esophagus. How did your motility test go?
The first time I was checked for h pylori. Yes my esophagus was dilated. I have tried aloe Vera juice. I take ppi, lansoprazole 1x daily and just started famotidine at night. When I have my endoscopy in a few weeks I’m gonna ask to check for h pylori again. I’m just dealing with a lot of chest pain, gas in my stomach and extreme burping and a week ago I’ve noticed a headache after I eat.
Do not take HCL by itself before a meal! This gave me an ulcer and terrible gastritis that I’m still fighting a year later. Take HCL about halfway through your meal so it’s not directly onto your stomach.

@@maheshtanay Increasing stomach acid lowers your pH. There is an inverse relationship between the two... low pH is higher acid. Lemon water is acidic, and if consumed just before your meal, provides a little extra stomach acid support.

About 3 years ago I was extremely ill. Ended up in A&E twice thinking I was having a heart attack. This happened after taking Naproxen for shoulder pain and Omeprazol (PPI) to ‘coat and protect’ the stomach. I had days I could not get out of bed. Finally diagnosed with bile reflux and gastritis. Tried all these tips including HCL. But do you know in the end what cured all my digestive problems? Going low carb (almost carnivore). It’s very simple. Eating protein especially animal protein like steak stimulates acid production whereas carbohydrate inhibits. It took quite a while to feel better but never had any more stomach problems.

I used to get severe pain in my stomach years back. Doctors called it gastritis and prescribed many drugs. Everything just worked for a short while. I was extremely careful of what I ate and when I ate. It was a hard time. I always traveled with my medication. One day nothing worked and I remembered reading about apple cider vinegar. By that time I felt my pain couldn't get any worse so I drank a teaspoon of ACV. It was like a miracle within seconds my pain vanished and I was fine. Since then I use ACV often and also went on a low carb diet and cured myself of my so called gastritis.

GREAT video!! I know someone who was merely unable to digest food well. No GERD, heartburn, nor gallbladder pain. Stools were pale, however. Then one day he barfed. The contents were as neutral as water (no burning). So he tried your tricks. Lemon helped. Tangerines helped. Grapefruits helped a lot. Several teaspoons apple cider vinegar helped, too. Chewing like crazy helped immensely. Stools returned to normal. My guess is the acid somehow helps stimulate gall bladder into releasing bile. Since he's vegan, he will try Igennus betaine HCL with enzymes.

Hello, started having problems after inflammed gallbladder removed. I didn't know what was wrong at first. Many trips to ER, because symptoms were high blood pressure, headache, dizziness, nausea. Misdiagnosed as a hypertension problem. Finally, the nausea, bloating, constipation and diarrhea and acid reflux got out of control. Had thr H-Pylori test come back negative. Just had the stomach emptying scan and normal results. Have been waiting sixty days to see GI specialist. Something not right. Had a bowl of chicken noodle soup about an hour before my 4 mile walk. Kept regurgitating soup, but the say my stomach empties normally. Yesterday only drank ginger tea before my walk. I kept regurgitating what can only be described as a foam. Even with stomach empty, the jostling and lung expansion causes an upward migration of stomach contents up into esophagus. Sad that they tried to get me to see the nuse practitioner instead of GI specialist. I know Im going to have to take the reins and tell the doctor to check me for esophageal ulcer, and to tell them not to automatically put me on proton pump inhibitor to aggravate the problem of low hcl--if they'll even test me for that. Doctor, dont pawn me off on the nurse practitioner with a bandaid remedy for the nausea. Do an endoscopy. I'll have to be really sweet about it because once you offend a doctor, they could care less about you.

My husband passed away two yrs this month. I have been under constant stress and trauma since losing my husband. I am now suffering stomach pain, burning, burping, feeling of fullness and difficulty having bowel movements. It also has felt like food doesn't want to move out of the stomach. Very slow digestion. I also have pain around the gallbladder. I am assuming chronic stress has caused all of this. Will increasing stomach acid help with these issues?
Hi Lynn, it's possible...the only way to tell would be to try out supplementing and see if you feel better. I'm sorry for your loss :( Grief can really overwhelm our stress buffer. I would guess that investing in ways to better manage your stress and get support with your trauma/grief would be a very important part of your healing process. AND, I also wouldn't overlook physical causes.
What you feeling is exactly what my cousin is going through now. She takes 2 spoons of apple cider vinegar before meals, takes ox bile pills from Amazon one hour after meal and eat a small bowl of salad everyday, cut back on carbohydrate and drink lemon water everyday. and drink water too. Instantly your stomach will come back to normal. Doctors prescription didn't work for her. She's doing better now..

I was suffering with severe GERD and my Dr. told me to take Omeprazole, although it worked, I couldn't keep taking it because it prevents the body from absorbing iron, and I already suffer with hereditary hemolytic anemia. I suddenly got a lot worse the past 2 weeks where I can't even eat, my stomach feels so bloated I feel I can't even drink water; it feels like it stays in my throat and won't go down, like my stomach is completely full even though I have barely eaten anything in 2 weeks. I wake up with nausea, spend all day with it, go to bed with it and have severe GERD when I lie down. I tried the apple cider vinegar, but just couldn't drink it. I tried lemon juice and that helped just slightly. I just got some Betaine HCL, that doesn't seem to be helping much, but maybe I am not taking enough.
I was experiencing terrible esophageal spasms and difficulty swallowing due to low stomach acid and the resultant GERD. Adding Betaine with meals made a 90% improvement in my symptoms

It shouldn't really take all that long, but if it's continuing to be out of balance, that may be an indicator that some deeper level work may need to be done to resolve underlying infections or other causes. If you are doing comprehensive gut healing work, maybe 6-9 months in, you could stop supplementing.

Thank you for these great tips! Besides supplementing with lemon/ACV or Betaine Hydrochloride acid, do you have suggestions for fixing the root problem? I know I produce less stomach acid when stressed, but I ALWAYS have to take quite a bit and have to take B12 with intrinsic factor. I'm interested in learning how to help the cells that produce stomach acid and intrinsic factor heal and do their job! Would love to hear your thoughts.
Hi Margaret, great question...two common causes of low stomach acid and intrinsic factor production are H. pylori infection and Hashimoto's disease (hypothyroidism) or other autoimmune conditions. Lifestyle solutions like diet and probiotics and lowering stress can go a long ways toward getting any autoimmunity under control, and can also help resolve gut infections, though this often requires further treatment with a doctor or naturopath. Coffee gives me bad heartburn and I love coffee.
I was able to eliminate my symptoms with d-limonene to help get the bad alkaline producing bacteria under control. Then supplement with betaine hydrochloride during meals to reacidify the stomach. Then beet flow beet leaf extract (not beet root) to make sure bile is flowing to neutralize the acid before it hits the small intestine. It's important not to supplement with betaine hcl unless you are also taking something to assist bile flow. I used beet flow beet leaf extract from empirical labs. Bile salts can be a substitute to beet leaf extract, to supplement bile flow, but NOT with your meal. Ox bile shouldn't be taken with food, It'll just neutralize the acid in the stomach where it's not supposed to. Take bile salts (ox bile) in between meals if you cannot get beet flow.

@@lisacarle1686 hello Lisa, first you need to determine what the cause of your reflux is. If it is due to a hiatal hernia you will need to address that first. Check out Kick It Naturally UA-cam channel for some good tips on that.
If you don't think you have a hiatal hernia, antimicrobials can definitely help, but what I've come to realize is as long as you are eating carbs and sugar you will keep feeding the bad bacteria that are giving you issues.
I got rid of it My reflux, then it seemed to come back every time I would eat carbs, sugar, and starch.
Well as of about a month and a half ago I went strict carnivore diet with a zero carbs and zero sugar and zero starch, my reflux disappeared again on day one.
So far my reflux has never come back, I've lost about 30 lb and I can see my six pack again!
I can't even begin to tell you how amazing I feel on a strict carnivore diet.
If you can figure out a way to slowly cut the carbs in sugar over the course of the next 6 weeks, to eventually get down to zero carbs, that should give you the best chance of eliminating the source of fuel for the bad bacteria.

Hi HB, thanks for your question! Stomach acid tends to decrease as we age, and is quite common if you are >60. IN terms of how long you should use ACV, this depends on your symptoms. I often suggest to my clients that they should use at every meal, and we assess how they are responding. If it feels like it isn't helping, or things are getting worse, we stop. If it's improving, I have them keep going. Once they feel better, they can reduce frequency/dosage if they don't regress. In general, listen to your body's feedback as a guide. Hi NK, your body is giving you a pretty clear sign that ACV probably isn't right...the itching can be sign that the ACV is triggering some kind of histamine or candida issue...lemon in water is another option, but is also a histamine liberator for some, and betaine HCL is supplement option. I watched this video last night and did one simple little change to my first meal of the day the next morning. Normally I drink about 20 -22 oz of ice cold water with my meal. Prior to eating that first meal today I took one Betaine and only drank a couple of ounces of water with my meal, I have been constipated for weeks if not months. This evening my stool was as normal as can be. A little pale, but what a nice change.

I’m late to this video but the last two years I’ve been dealing with silent reflux and Globus sensation. My nutritionist had me do the baking soda test once for three days and nothing happened so she put me on ACV before meals and wow is it ever helping! It’s not fully gone yet but getting there. I had low b-12 as well so taking that as a supplement.
I love your tip of not drinking water too soon before or after food. I’ll start doing that as well.
My question is, is this a for the rest of my life tho g that I have to do, or will my body start producing stomach acid in its own eventually? If so, How long on average does that take? Thanks so much!!
Hi Carly, it's not necessarily forever, but in some cases it may be something that needs attention long term. IT depends on the reasons why your stomach acid is low. It tends to decrease as we age normally. Certain medications can reduce it (like PPIs of course, but others as well), H pylori infection can reduce it, and autoimmunity to the stomach cells that produce the acid can also be a root cause. Once you're back to sufficiency, you may be able to drop your use back or stop, and only occassionally use. I usually suggest to my clients that they should just gauge what they need by what their body is telling them. I'm glad it's helped you!

Hi Arshiya, thanks for watching :) Esophagitis could be related to low stomach acid, since low stomach acid can affect how well the stomach stays closed at the top. But there can also be other causes. I do hope you get the shortness of breath checked by a doctor. Than can be many reasons for this, but it's best to rule out more medical explanations first. Take care.
Additionally, if you have irritation in the esophagus, increasing stomach acid could aggravate it, so you may want to explore why you have this irritation, and work to calm it before increasing acid.

I love how informative your videos are 🙂 I suffer from UC (in remission) therefore I can’t take HCL. I tried tiny amounts of ACV dilluted in water but every time I notice blood and mucus the day after. Is it possible that ACV leaves the stomach (e.g. due to unsufficient bile production) and irritates the mucus lining in the intestines? Not sure if I should continue with it but I need to fix my stomach acid to overcome my Sibo. Any suggestions would be much appreciated 🤗
Hi Agnieszka, thanks so much for watching :) It sounds like your body is giving you a clear sign that acid supplementation is NOT a good idea. In concept yes, in practice, no. If recurrent SIBO is a problem, as well as UC, I suggest checking Dr. Ruscio's approach in his book Healthy Gut, Healthy You, or his many vidoes and podcasts. Specifically, multi-probiotic therapy, an elemental diet, or motility supports may be helpful.

Hi Lydia, sorry for the confusion...if you're going to do the test, you mix baking soda and water. If you mix AVC and baking soda, you can see why the test works. When you mix the vinegar with the baking soda, it fizzes and makes gas! Hope that helps!

Hi Saurabh, you can increase at whatever rate feels right. I typically suggest people go slower than they are initially inclined. Stay with a low dose for a few days, or longer, before increasing. LEt your focus be on HOW your body feels and responds to direct your changes.
IF you find they help, then I generally suggest you commit to a one-month trial, then try weaning off to see if you can maintain your results. I would probably suggest slowly tapering off.

Hi Giant Robot, thanks for watching. I would definitely consider low stomach acid as a factor in these symptoms, as stomach acid helps your food move through your intestines. THere could, however, be other causes. Looking at the whole situation in context is important! But supporting stomach acid is a easy, inexpensive first-line-of-defense thing to test and see how you respond.
I was feeling this as well right when my gerd symptoms started. I thought it was swelling in my gut. It may be that the phyloric sphincter stays closed because the ph of the stomach is too high.

Hi Cold Play, thanks for watching. This is a great and common question! Lemon is indeed an "alkalizing" food for the body on the whole, but it's localized effect when first ingested is, of course, acidic. You can physically watch this effect by putting some lemon juice onto sauteeing purple cabbage, and watch how the color changes from dark purple to pink. The alkalizing effect of foods or groups of foods is more about the overall effect on *blood* pH, and less about their intrinsic properties. Apple cider vinegar, the other option I mention in the video, is also an alkalizing food, as are veggies, fruits, nuts, and seeds, while meat, dairy, and sugar are acidifying foods. Does that help?
@@ConfluenceNutrition So it's all depend on the time we take those options (lemon juice, vinegar apple cider, pickled foods ...), JUST BEFORE the meal is the right time. However, if it is not the case that they will only rise stomach's PH as if we are eating fruit or veggie before the meal (alkalizing foods need liquidity in the stomach to be alkaline in order to be digested). Do you agree ?.
One last question is there a test for stomach's PH?
@@coldplay3455 I'm a little confused about your question. What I think you're asking is "Is using locally acidifying foods before meals the appropriate time to eat them?" If that's your question, the answer is yes. 15 minutes or so before the meal is the right time to use this support.
Regarding testing for stomach pH: the conventional medical test is called the Heidelberg test, where you swallow a mini electronic sensor device in the doctor's office, and then swallow repeated doses of baking soda water. If stomach acid doesn't rebound normally, as sensed by the little device, you are diagnosed with low stomach acid (hypochlorhydria). An at-home test to see if you are making enough stomach acid is to drink 1/4 tsp baking soda in 8 oz water first thing in the morning. If you burp a bunch, this indicates that the baking soda is combining with your stomach acid to produce gas bubbles, meaning you have stomach acid. If you get no burping, you may be deficient in stomach acid. It's not a perfect test, but could provide some useful clues.

Hi, thanks for this question...not knowing about your case history makes it hard to say...but here's what I can tell you: stomach acid tends to decrease as we age. It can also decrease due to certain infections, hormones, thyroid health. Lots of reasons. How long it takes to heal depends on the root cause. Some people are able to restore their gut function in a matter of months, others may need continual support to maintain function. If you don't want to keep using HCL pills, you can explore using digestive bitters (stimulates digestive juices), or drink a little lemon juice or apple cider vinegar in water before meals as a gentle, food-based support. Acid Reflux with a Hiatal Hernia....from Low stomach acid or too much?
We never really know until we trial supplemental stomach acid and acid reducers, and see which better resolves symptoms.
I did the baking soda test and I only burped once, and it took about 20 minutes after I drank the stuff. But the whole time waiting I did feel right away that I wanted to burp. So does this mean I have a low stomach acid problem? I do have a Hiatal Hernia and was on a PPI for a very long time. I've been off the PPI for about 2 months now. I only get acid reflex if I eat the wrong food. I've been on a very strict diet for about 4 months now. Lost 22 pounds. I had high blood pressure for awhile but since the diet, I'm pretty normal now. Thanks!
This highlights the gray area and non-exact nature of this "test". It's inconclusive. The next best thing is to test out supplementing and see if your body feels better or worse.
I am on Prednisone for pmr. I was using acv but had stopped.But i was having slow digestion,felt like i ate a brick.So started the acv again and immediately felt better and helped my constipation.I think an excess of coffee in the morning was diluting my stomach acid.I also cut that back.

It should encourage acid production, as it kind of ramps up all the metabolic processes, but every body is different and there are always exceptions to the rule.

If it really is just low stomach acid, using ACV may help rebalance things, and you could stop after a few weeks. There are so many different options, it's hard to pick just one. I tend to stick with the higher end supplement brands (Pure Encapsulations, Thorne, Designs for Health, etc.), to avoid excess additives and allergens, but there could certainly be other options. Hope that helps.
Hi, just a question I'm on my 9th capsule per meal which by the way contains 325mg of betaine HCL and 59mg of pepsin and I don't feel any of those warming/acid reflux symptoms but what I feel is like a not so good feeling on my stomach like if I would be ill-tempered, don't know to explain, what should I do, should I keep increasing the dosage or do I dial it down??
I mainly eat Plant base besides sometimes eating eggs don't know if that matters.
Hi Toninho, I would reduce the dose...even though you're not feeling burning, that uncomfortable sensation is a signal that needs to paid attention to. Large doses in the long term can be damaging. I would likely reduce to 1-3 capsules max per meal. Take good care!

I have some symptoms which I think are related with reflux, but not sure, so I want to ask you about it. I have bad breath sometimes even 2 hours after eating. I usually wake up with brown saliva on my mouth with extreme bad breath and also I wake up with blocked-up nose which is not like I have in the common cold. Do you think these symptoms are related to reflux or something else? Can you please help me about it?
These are definitely common reflux/LPR symptoms. Check with your doctor.
I have watched your videos over and over about low acid. I've done the tests and I feel confident thats my problem So, Ive started a regimen of Betaine HCL and also ACV tablets. It appears to be working and I'm no longer experiencing the burning in my chest after eating and when I walk and move around. In your experience, do think that by fixing the stomach, it can help with blood pressure and elevated glucose readings? It seems to me that this has been a problem for longer than I can remember.
Hi Rebecca, it may indirectly help support healthy blood pressure and glucose levels, but an appropriate diet and eating routines are some of the most effective lifestyle options to help with these issues: lower carb, minimize processed carbs (sugars, flours, etc.), moderate protein, moderate to high fat, fast between meals at least 4 hours, and at least a 12 hour fast overnight , longer if you can tolerate it. Also exercise after meals.

I tried the baking soda test And I burped after 4minutes. I read online that if burping happens within 3mins you have too much acid. But in your video you mentioned 15mins. So do you think I have too much or too less? Thank you!
It sounds to me like your stomach acid is likely fine. But there are lots of things to consider...Are you doing the test because you have digestive symptoms you're concerned about?

We never really know how we will respond to something, or if it's one of the things that will help us until we try. And the answer we get helps inform our next steps. Hello i am diagnosed with gastritis for last two years.
There is information to my stomach lining. My endoscopy reports says that i have FUNDIC GASTRITIS - ERYTHEMA SUBEPITHELIAL AND HEMORRHAGE.
I was on ppi for two years that lead to lot of other problems like eczema, mouth ulcers, vitamin b12 and vitamin D deficiencies and also mouth ulcers.
I am now eating bland diet but still i get lot of bloating hyperacidity acid reflux and mouth ulcers.
There is always burning sensation in my stomach especially on upper part. I want to know how long it takes to heal stomach lining.
Hi Abhishek, thanks for watching...it can take a while, but with the right supports, you should be able to see some improvement within a few weeks even. Have yoru doctors screened you for h pylori infection? A soothing agent like DGL or aloe has been really helpful for people with your symptoms. Hope you feel better soon!

I tried betaine HCl but got some pain. I typically get my GERD pains 2-3hrs after eating….like it’s on an empty stomach. Can’t tell if it’s too much or too little acid.
Hi Amy, regardless of whether its too much or too little acid, your stomach doesn't like it, so that's the important feedback. Have you been screened for H pylori?
I do have a question - besides taking ACV directly - are there foods that increase acid production? I have heard of fermented foods that do that?
Digestive bitters and bitter foods may help increase acid production, and acidic foods, like vinegars in salad dressings, or lemon juice, may temporarily increase acids to support digestion.
How much mg usually in 1 capsule of hcl? Because it's different between every products. Some is 200mg, the other is 600+ mg.
It does vary widely...I like 500 mg caps to work with titrating.

Hi!! I have low stomach acid and protein leakages!! Only symptoms I have are abdominal pain under and in my left ribs!! And sometimes and night I get palpitations. Do other people experience this from low stomach acid?? Would DGL help do u know?? Happy Christmas 🎄
Hi Stu, How do you know you have low acid and protein leakage? Certain foods can definitely trigger palpitations, but so can other things...if food is a problem, I most frequently see it from high histamine foods. DGL may help with the pain. In general, I recommend people try one new thing at a time, and try to evaluate whether their hypothesis was right. Thanks for watching!

Palpitations are more like butterflies under my ribs now and again!! Was taking berberine but didn't help, doctor told me to take magnesium and idoine and b12 also as I was low on them!! Hi Fighter Man, it's not completely accurate, but you can drink 1/4 tsp baking soda in 8 oz water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. If no burping in 5 minutes, this indicates your stomach acid is low. Chances of low stomach acid increase if you are over 65, have one or more autoimmune disease (esp thyroid disease), and if you have anemia (low iron). Thanks for watching!

I'm sorry but I really can't say, it's so individualized. A simple experiment would be to temporarily remove most spices and then to trial adding them back in one at a time to figure out which ones work for you.
Doesn’t anyone have GERD due to having high stomach acid? It seems dangerous to suggest that that is a clearcut indicator for LOW stomach acid. I know it’s complicated - I’m trying to figure out if I have low stomach acid myself, or if mine is going up into the esophagus and I don’t have enough left in the stomach - but I want to tread lightly. I’m certainly going to try the baking soda thing.

How long should I take BETAINE HCL WITH PEPSIN ? My age 27 and I suffering law stomach acid ,now I taking HCL with pepsin and getting benefits but I am confused how long should I take this.
I generally recommend my clients try something for a few weeks (like 2-4), and then re-evaluate at the end, but reducing or stopping and seeing what happens. If symptoms come back, keep going. If you nothing happens, you can safely stay off those supplements.

The HCL capsules are horse pills. How can you get liquid or small capsules?
The first thing in the morning is used to drink 1 ltr of plain water and sometime I used to add lemon juice to that and used eat nothing after that for almost 1 hour and used to drink 8 ltrs of water a day, can be that the reason for low stomach acid ? And I have almost zero appetite ( no hunger and thirst )
Hi Suraj, thanks for watching and for your question. 8 liters of water is a lot for one day, so yes, this could be diluting your stomach acid. But the lemon water first thing is a wonderful way to start the day, and your stomach acid should be fine after the hour you wait to eat. Do try to avoid drinking a lot right before, or for 1 hour after eating.

Can the gas from sibo cause a misleading burping response? I have slow motility and did the test. Burped within 1 month but have a lot of heartburn
SIBO can definitely contribute to reflux and burping/gas.

Hi there, maybe try taking a smaller amount. I alwasy say, start low and go slow. Maybe start with 1/4 that amount, and see if you get the same reaction. If so, maybe HCL isn't right for you. If no reaction, you can slowly increase the amount every few meals and see how you respond. Keep the amount at a level that doesn't cause any reactions. Good luck!
Is lemon juice not alkalising in the body?. Even though its acidic?

Is this betaine HCL can be taken although the meal doesn't have a lot of protein? I mean can we take it even with just whole bread or vegetables?
Hi Christine, great question. If you body is needing acid support, using betaine HCL can be beneficial to support your whole digestive system function and absorption of nutrients like B12 and iron, even if you're only eating a vegetarian meal. And even though there isn't a lot of protein in things like bread and vegetables, there is some, and the stomach acid support helps make sure that ALL the protein is fully broken down. In the case of bread, this means that the gluten proteins are fully broken down and are less likely to trigger any inflammatory response (provided you aren't actually allergic to gluten/wheat). May I ask what causes stomach acid levels to decrease?
Many things may contribute: age (more likely after age 70), antibodies to the structures that create it, persistent antacid use, thryoid disease, etc. There are likely more than that, but that's a short list.

Hi Abhinav, it depends on how you respond, and whether you can maintain your improvement without. I usually suggest my clients use it daily with all meals for a few weeks. If they improve, then they can either keep going or try reducing it and see if they maintain improvement. If not, they continue. Does that help?
Hi i have used baking soda back in time cuz i was told it can help with acid reflux. But what happened it gave me severe pain in my stomach. Do u have explanation.
I have heard from a minority of people for whom baking soda doesn't go well. Maybe it was the quantity? I'm not sure why it causes this reaction...
So I did the at home baking soda in water test in the morning before food, I burped once in about 10m after drinking it. So is that normal or slight indicator of low stomach acid? Should someone be burping more than once or sooner than that? Are there various degrees of low stomach acid, from a little low to extremely low?
There's no exact science to this technique, it's really a ballpark thing. If you burped, this means you have some stomach acid. If you're concerned it's low, you can experiment wtih increasing it to see if it positively or negatively impacts your symptoms.
10 minute that mean low stomach acid
The Betaine HCL tablets I take are about 658 mg. I've been experimenting to see how many I need to take to experience better digestion. Sometimes 4 will do it, sometimes I have closer to 8 and I don't feel it. I don't know if it's because my stomach acid is really that low that I need so much help, or if I'm not adding enough of the building blocks such as potassium and sodium, or if I'm still eating too fast and having too much water with meals. I feel like a drug addict doing it, but I haven't been at it for long and I don't seem to be getting worse. I've spent such a long time feeling as if food just sits there in my stomach not going anywhere and affecting the rest of my body, and now that I think it's likely low stomach acid, I'd really like to fix it. Thanks for your help.
Hi Andrew, you won't always "feel" the HCL. I think it's safer and more prudent to simply include the HCL on a regular basis at a low but consistent dose, and just evaluate how your digestion has improved, and use that to guide your approach. How does that land?

So far, my digestion has done better with more instead of less, along with very minimal water or other liquids. I'm hoping that someday I'll get to the point where I don't need that many anymore. I realize now that this is supposed to be a short term thing, so I don't want to go too long with this process. But I genuinely think that my issue since childhood has been low stomach acid and I just didn't know it.

Hi Justine, thanks for watching. THat sounds uncomfortable :( ...was your esophagus dilated because you have a stricture from reflux? Have your doctors screened you for h. pylori infection? As you are investigating the root causes with your doctors, your skin sounds like it may need some soothing relief. Have you tried aloe vera juice or DGL? You might give those a try, before meals, to help coat the irritated skin. Take good care.
Hi can you describe your symptoms ? I think I might be dealing with the same issue as I also have GERD and get spams or some kind of palpitation in my stomach/esophagus. How did your motility test go?
The first time I was checked for h pylori. Yes my esophagus was dilated. I have tried aloe Vera juice. I take ppi, lansoprazole 1x daily and just started famotidine at night. When I have my endoscopy in a few weeks I’m gonna ask to check for h pylori again. I’m just dealing with a lot of chest pain, gas in my stomach and extreme burping and a week ago I’ve noticed a headache after I eat.
My motility test was okay the dr told me I don’t have a lot of movement in my lower esophagus
Do not take HCL by itself before a meal! This gave me an ulcer and terrible gastritis that I’m still fighting a year later. Take HCL about halfway through your meal so it’s not directly onto your stomach.

@@maheshtanay Increasing stomach acid lowers your pH. There is an inverse relationship between the two... low pH is higher acid. Lemon water is acidic, and if consumed just before your meal, provides a little extra stomach acid support.
What about lemon during the meal like on the food?
