Welcome back to another install video! Today we are going to be installing the Jackson Racing Cold air intake. We were looking to clean up the engine bay and get a little more power from my 1993 Miata!
I get my parts from Moss Miata - mossmiata.com/
Part # 901-985
If you have any questions about the install please leave me a comment below and thank you for watching! - Авто та транспорт
Awesome video! For the air flow meter extension wire, is it a plug in type thing or do you have to cut and solder the wires? Thank you
thanks for the comment! provided in the kit is an extension wire. No cutting or soldering is required, cheers!
peopel often say these are useless / placebo / or even hurt miatas, but i used to have a 1.6 with the only upgrade being a K+N cold air intake, and it was faster. wasnt worlds faster, but noticeably faster.
When we have such little horsepower slight changes can make a big difference. Thank you for your comment
Just installed one for 94-97. Was a pain. Also you have to get rid of the hood rod.
what is the hood rod? Yeah it can be a pain! I may go back in and shave the part of the radiator where it touches.
the hood rod gets a new position. They provide the new pieces in the kit.
Do you think this would still make noise along with a decent exhaust? I love a nice mixture of tones and I've been looking at snagging one of these.
I have a dual tip center custom exhaust (this is my alternate account) and yes I think makes for some nice induction noise
You got any recommendations on where to get replacement for the acorodian tube
I have got lucky a few times reaching out to the seller or manufacture for spares. Does not always work, but it is worth a try.
Just doing some research and ive heared a couple rumors of this sucking up hot air from the exhaust. is this true?
Unsure? Perhaps they did not attach the tubes and clamps properly? The entire system is well infront of where the exhaust is. I have not noticed any difference in running temps. It pulls air from in front of the radiator.
do you know if this kits will work with a 97 Na miata?
I do not believe so, as the JR airbox inlet is designed to bolt up to the old style meter. The 1.6 has a MAF or Mass Air flow sensor whereas the 1.8 has AFM ....air flow meter (silly names I think I got it right?)...they do the same thing but are wired to the ECU. I am just going off of what I know on visual....you could perhaps modify the box, but I'm not sure
SWEET!!!!!
Thanks man!!!!
Will this work with an oversized aluminum radiator?
(secondary account) depends on the fans too, I am running stock fans with an KOYO rad and it fits, you may need to trim the plastic fan guards or use thinner fans since it is a tight fit.
Did you set the timing to 14 degrees as the instructions said to?
That’s something I may not have done. Thanks for the update, I’ll get on that. The car sat most of 2020. Thanks again for the comment and advice
@@LockdownFilms I'm about to put the same intake in my miata and gathering info.
@@FooMasterNarr good idea (alternate account replying) the one downside, when you go in for smog, it blocks the timing light position so I have to dismantle the top so they can get check the timing.
I bought one of these for my LE as well, but it's 1.8 swapped, and it just doesn't quite fit. :(
aw damn! that sucks, what part does not fit on the 1.8? is it because of angle on the throttle body?
@@LockdownFilms physically longer engine and upgraded radiator does not have enough clearance for the plastic intake to sit
@@kirill42069 oooo OK yeah that makes sense!
Take apart the box and then give her a go
@@kirill42069 do you still have it? I have a 1.6 i could give that box a good home to :)
Do you still have the Capri valve cover??
I do, would you like it?
@@LockdownFilms definitely
@@FalconiNicasio how would I get it to you? where are you located?
@@LockdownFilms I'm located in Portland, shoot me an email at lfnicasio@gmail.com and we can discuss details
how you like it? any differences?
I like it, personally I do notice midrange oompf! I used to hate trying to pass anyone on the freeway now it seems to have a little more midrange grunt! Only bad tradeoff is when you get SMOG they cant see the timing area, so I have to take half of it apart so they can do the timing, But yeah! I really like it.
@@LockdownFilms How badly does this kit obscure the timing area? Is this kit compatible with the 1.8L engine?
@@ads1035 a lot sadly! when I took it into smog, even though it has the CARB sticker, I had to talk the top half apart so he could get the timing light to do the timing. I do not think it works with the 1.8 because they changed the MAF sensors? Between 93/94 they changed the Mass Air Sensor. I think there are some 1.8L alternatives.
