I really like the Twilight status condition and i could see there being a Terrain move that causes it to apply to all pokemon on the field for a few turns.
I'm amazed how many pseudo-conditions Pokemon has now that you pointed them out! If anything, this is *more* balanced, because you can't encore, imprison, confuse, attract, and poison (then upgrade to bad poison) all at once. In addition, you've made cases where applying status conditions to yourself could be useful, like distorting or rewind to save PP on something like rollout, drain for high-HP tanks with low PP moves. Very cool interactions! Deeper and mutually exclusive. 10/10 Though I can see a world where distortion is overpowered where you apply and remove it whenever something bothersome comes by. Potentially distort could make Pokemon weak to twilight moves (simulating how people became ghosts in TP's twilight areas) like trick-or-treat in Pokemon.
Yeah exactly, thank you! Ideally those minor conditions would be removed or reduced. I think it’s better to just have the single infliction but the fact that certain types have their own that fit with their playstyle could be really different to build around. Like Warrior types have a lot of brute force abilities so giving them something like Bleed makes sense. Or Twilight types have very chaotic abilities so Distort works well with their plan
Pretty interesting how you gave a status condition for each type. As for the new pokemon, I love them. The Grimmsnarl line is one of my favorites and seeing you give them a nice hyrulian coat of paint is just awesome.
Here is What i think The statuses relate to Bleed: Another Poison Imprison: Timed Arena Trap Blind: An Accuracy move with the effect of disable for physical moves Drain: Pressure But instead of double pp it uses hp Infest: Infestation with more effects Rewind: Encore for 3 turns Root: Arena trap + movement based moves Exhaust: Pressure But instead of 2 pp its 3 pp Drown: Only allows movement based moves Fear: Timed Roar Crush: Like a stat lowering move/ability Disarm: Timed Disable Distort: Reverse of the type chart of the used move i guess I do like the Impidimp line alot
Awesome work as allways. The Grimmetal looks really tough. As a metalhead, anything related to metal would have to go in my team. Luckily, the design for that pokémon is perfect. I wonder if it is a tank?
Amazing designs as usual! Can't wait to see what you do for Windwaker. Will it be Koroks, the boat, the Helmaroc King, or maybe the little piglets? So many possibilities. Anyway, I look forward to what you do with Windwaker, but my favorite Zelda is Majora's Mask, so I'm way ore exited for that one. Keep on the great work.
if i may throw my hat in the ring, since it was said Grimmetal rides Donphan, having a Hyrulean Phanpy and Donphan based on the Wind Waker pigs AND the boar the King Bulblin rides could be a fun idea
A alternate effect for time could be stastis (unintechinal refrence to the ability in BOTW) which makes you take NO damge till the effect is removed, then you take all of that damge with a 1.5x multiplier. there would proably be a move to apply this effect to yourself as you could use it with something that keeps you from being one shot. tho the move would probably go after other moves, cause otherwise you could make a invicible pokemon that can solwly chip away at the enemys health.
I love the twilight condition. I wish we could have these, but 18 status effects is a lot to keep on top of. If I had to pick one or two it be distort then bleed. Keep up the great work man! Also the new pokemon look awesome!

I have a really cool idea for a move that could use inflict the Twilight status. Maybe Slowpoke would have to survive getting hit by this attack to evolve?

Im not a Zelda fan but the artwork looks remarkable from what I've seen so far from you, & I find these ideas for new statuses to be intriguing. I was so hoping the first game you were gonna cover was Wind Waker. It's my favorite game. Can't wait to see the stuff you come up with for that, and the rest!
@@bilsuart TBH In my opinion, Twilight's effect of changing type effectiveness could throw off entire teams. I believe that to be the most powerful. Its a really cool thing too that Poison and Burn both do physical and Special damage respectively so stats account for how much damage is dealt. It adds an extra layer of strategy when applying effects. I do have a question though. When it comes to Drown and similar effects that hamper or rely on movement-based techs, does this mean moves like Aquajet, Quickattack and so-on are considered "movement based?"
@@t5hammer871 yeah that was my idea for what I personally consider movement based. I know Pokémon doesn’t currently use something like that but basically any attack where your Pokémon would have to physically move to use it. Things like Flamethrower wouldn’t count, I guess you could kinda think of it as Melee/Ranged
Trinity forms? I'm so excited to see that gimmick also HOLY HELL moregrim and grimmetal look WAY cooler that I thought they would (i already thought they'd look cool)
@@bilsuart also I forgot to mention distort is probably my favorite status condition it's such a cool concept to swap the effectiveness of a pokemons weakness
You made me start thinking about what would happen if we tried doing something with Prey (2017) and Pokemon, and while I'm getting some solid concepts, the hardest part so far is naming them.
I like fear for the ghost type. Another cool inspiration for the ghost type effect could have been the bubble’s ability to jinx Link in Ocarina of Time. Really enjoying this series!
Nice! I’m turning those types of videos into something I’m calling Artplay, so I’ll be replaying/playing the games for footage and whatnot live for my reactions for things that I choose to make
so to make the status effects feel more tied to their type as many aren't and tbh sleep makes me think more of psychic than normal but I think a sort of stab but for statuses would be a good idea along with a lowered overall chance to apply status effects.
I feel like the conditions like root and rewind should be more like sleep in which you have a chance to wake up and a guarantee after three turns, since a set amount is too much for such effects if sleep rarely does it for as pong
The status effects are really cool, I especially like how there is potential to use certain ones like drain or rewind on your own Pokémon to conserve power points with a trade off. One problem I noticed is with burn and poison’s wording. Dealing 1/8 of max HP would be the same amount of damage regardless of how much defense or special defense a Pokémon has since it is only looking at max HP. A solution could be that 1/8 of max HP is the base damage of the status that would then be multiplied by a bonus determined from the respective defense. For example, a Pokémon with burn would take 1/8 max HP * (special defense of the Pokémon / average special defense) of damage.
frozen and sleep have quite a few differences! Such as freeze ending sooner if a fire type move is used (and in a project like in the video it may end sooner in hotter areas) and you still being able to use moves when asleep via moves like sleeptalk. Frostbite and burn however are essentially the same thing just one being special and one being physical..can't dunk on sleep and frozen for being similar when you're recommending something even more similar
@@bilsuart Then that's an insane status condition to have. It turns Bug, Dragon, and Grass into offensive monsters and prevents yourself from getting any of the other (negative) status conditions. I'd get a mon specifically to get that condition and fire off super effective Draco Meteors into fairy types.
I think the best status conditions are Bleed, Distort and Fear, they sound really fun to play with. And I love the new Impidimp line looks incredible, a great way to change a great line, and make it look fiercer than the dark type.
Nice video you made there! Those type status conditions make a lot of sense too. I wonder if the Twilight status condition will affect status moves too? It would be a lot like the Contrary ability, wouldn't it? I can already see that you inspired Grimmetal from Twilight Princess' King Bulblin. I can only imagine the appearance of the Donphan it rides. Since Wind Waker is at the top of the list, is there any chance there's going to be a Hyrulean Manaphy based on the Wind Waker baton?
@@bilsuart I see. All the same, I should probably give Tarro57 a subscribe too for his contribution. Awesome video as always, partner! Keep up the good work!
I hope you can actually have a Grimmetal ride a Donphan or another pokemon for the full effect. A special evolution or something. Love all of this i hope this is made into a full game soon
considering you have a phantom type, I wonder what you'll do with the Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Track phantoms? There's a lot you could do with the many variants they have
The reason why I say normal is that the sleep Icon (from my knowledge) has always matched the color of the normal type just like the other status conditions matching their type colors. But I agree otherwise!
When I saw "drown" as a status condition I thought at first you ment actually suffocating. Sounds brutal but that's what water-based attacks do to Pikmin.
These status affects are really creative. Infest is probably my favorite one here especially the idea that it spreads to other party pokemon. Fear is also really cool. I like that bleed is the affect of strong poison, that makes too much sense. The only one I don't like is distort, its just odd to switch or take away type effectiveness imo. Maybe something like curse, trick, or blind would make more sense for twilight since its dark. I like the imprison effect, though I don't think it fits dragon that well. That might be better on metal or desert, though coming up with something else for dragon is tough, but its fine as is.
Honestly with the way you describe the status effects it makes me think a system like the Yokai watch inspirt system could wirk well where instead of the moves inflicting status conditions you trade off using a move and can instead inflict a status condition that's type dependent with some exceptions for special moves
I get the impression that status afflictions do not affect Pokemon of the matching type. (Fire cannot be burned, Water cannot be drowned, etc. Even Normal/Hyrule cannot be put to sleep.)
Maybe instead of poison for malice you could to gloom and refuse the Pokémon’s max hp until it is exposed to sunlight (harsh sunlight would count) or leaves the field
Im not much of a pokemon player but this project would definitely convince me to play again, i really like the designs especially blizzora and phantasmare, never leaving my party
Personally I actually dislike modern Pokémon gameplay wise. It’s just way too easy and not engaging enough. I mostly like Pokémon for the Pokémon themselves and I like Zelda for the world and adventuring. Even just a monster taming Zelda game would be cool to me even if it wasn’t tied to Pokémon specifically.
I would make the name for the malice type effect corruption cause in totk your hearts are corrupted away if you stand on gloom (reimagined malice) too long
When it comes to the status ailments and how to apply them, you could split them up into "tiers". Higher tiers are obviously more powerful/crippling but less reliable to inflict. Root and Paralyze might be considered tier 1; they have dedicated moves to inflicting the statuses, but also some Battle Abilities can cause them on contact. Fear and Bleed might be considered tier 2; and have a lower chance to inflict on foes but can be inflicted with any move of that type. Rare exceptions might cause on contact. Rewind and Distort might be considered tier 3; and only exist through low chance status moves or Abilities/unique moves for "legendaries". I'm curious on what your thoughts on this are. I hope I can help. - Some Pokemon should also have Battle Abilities that boost the chance of inflicting these ailments or have a Battle Ability to guard against specific ones. Thet can go a long way to your design philosophy of wanting every Pokemon to be useful. There could be a Spirit Pokemon that can cure prevent against Drain, or dome sort of Darknut Pokemon that prevents against Bleed while its HP is at or above 50% to simulate the armor coming off. Though Battle Armor and especially a rename of Shields Down might make more sense. Shields Down prevents all statuses and boosts the Defense at over 50% HP, but below that it only boosts Attack. Maybe that's too strong, which is why i suggested the one to only affect Bleed. Definitely looking forward to future abilities, Pokemon snd videos in general! I hope in the future there will be a dedicated video to new or unique moves.
Thank you for the insightful comment! Ultimately I think the entire battle system could potentially get reworked if I wanted things to work how I envision. Kinda like how you said, some Pokémon could guarantee some of these status conditions with abilities or moves and others could heal or prevent them as well. Ideally I’d get rid of all the smaller status conditions that aren’t the 18 that I showed. That way it’s more concrete of what your Pokémon is inflicted with. Also the status conditions would be a lot rarer than normal Pokemon and be more of a trait that Pokémon of that type could potentially have.
All the combat statuses available would definitely mean more thought HAS to be put into strategy, which could be a good shake up for gameplay! And maybe someone else asked this, I’m not sure, BUT do dual types have the ability to inflict more than one status condition? Like for example (based on personal typing bias), if there was a *standard* Water/Spirit Pokémon in Link Dimension could it do both Drown AND Drain? (Which is kind of punny, whoops) Because if they do…I think those Light Spirit-based ones just got a LOT harder to try and face off against…!
Ideally status conditions would be a lot harder to apply I general so that Pokémon aren’t constantly inflicted with one. There could also be Pokémon who are straight up immune to some or can cure others of theirs. As far as the dual type thing that seems pretty interesting, I do know that I have Bomumausu the ability to inflict Burn and Paralyze though
In a comment I posted on a previous video, I suggested a Pokemon that would allow Link to travel on water, preferably based on the King of Red Lions from Wind Waker. Since you're planning on making a video dedicated to that game, I believe that it would be the perfect video to present a Pokemon like what I mentioned.
If anyone is wondering why the thumbnail doesn’t have the Charmander that I drew on stream it’s because ultimately I felt like it would cause confusion and it was too click baity for me. It felt wrong that I was trying to get more Pokémon fans to click on the video by putting Charmander in the Thumbnail instead of just showing the project for what it is. Also, Grimmetal? Nice! I would definitely take the Hyrulemon and add it to my team! ❤
Thank you! Nice choice for the team!
I was so hoping the first game you were gonna cover was Wind Waker. It's my favorite game. Can't wait to see the stuff you come up with for that, and the rest!
It has a lot of charming aspects about it so it’ll definitely be a fun video :)
I like that you mainly focus on Twilight Princess inspired designs because I reeeaally like this game (1st Zelda game I've truly played)
I’m in dire need of a gritty Zelda game but I guess that’s what I can play Dark Souls for haha I’m begging for Nintendo to release TP on the Switch
Yo, these effects are incredible. I’d love to see how they change the meta
Thank you! It’s all just fun brainstorming!
All those conditions look pretty neat. And I cant wait to see your wind waker video.
I’m pretty excited for it! I have a fun gameplay format for it
Trinity forms? I'm so excited to see that gimmick also HOLY HELL moregrim and grimmetal look WAY cooler that I thought they would (i already thought they'd look cool)
Trinity Forms are my personal signature for this project and I’m excited for people to see them in the future 🙂
@@bilsuart also I forgot to mention distort is probably my favorite status condition it's such a cool concept to swap the effectiveness of a pokemons weakness
@@rpgrage7711 Zant’s Boss fight was the inspiration :)
@@bilsuart OH i didn't even make the connection but that actually makes a lot of sense
These are awesome and I like that many of them reflect move effects that already exist in the games (like disable and disarm).
You made me start thinking about what would happen if we tried doing something with Prey (2017) and Pokemon, and while I'm getting some solid concepts, the hardest part so far is naming them.
Naming is a pretty important thing! Some people end up liking certain Pokémon simply based on how good the name is.!
Really cool! Great job!
Thanks Spectre :)
This is getting good bro
Thanks :)
Not sure if it's just the pose or not, but that Morgrem is giving me an unmistakable Ghirahim vibe...
That’s it’s default pose but I can see what you mean haha
Definitely approve of all the tp stuff it really has a lot of things that are translating really well into Pokemon.
let's goo. The new condition from legends:arceus were my favorite so I think this is a great idea
Yeah hopefully they will return!
I like fear for the ghost type. Another cool inspiration for the ghost type effect could have been the bubble’s ability to jinx Link in Ocarina of Time. Really enjoying this series!
As a Twilight Princess fanboy myself i really appreciate the Bulblin love. Also, cant wait for the Triforce Heroes video.
Nice! I’m turning those types of videos into something I’m calling Artplay, so I’ll be replaying/playing the games for footage and whatnot live for my reactions for things that I choose to make
I like this Impidimp line better. The designs really fit the environment you were going for.
so to make the status effects feel more tied to their type as many aren't and tbh sleep makes me think more of psychic than normal but I think a sort of stab but for statuses would be a good idea along with a lowered overall chance to apply status effects.
I see what you mean, I mostly thought Sleep was tied to Normal because it always shares the same colors
This was great! Good job!
Thank you!
Really like the concept of infest
I feel like the conditions like root and rewind should be more like sleep in which you have a chance to wake up and a guarantee after three turns, since a set amount is too much for such effects if sleep rarely does it for as pong
Nice, on to my favorite Zelda game now! Love Wind Waker
I’ve only played a little bit of it so I plan to do a play through or what I call an ArtPlay
Interesting. I only saw the dragon types effect in the live stream I was busy but the rest are also very amazing
No worries! And thank you!
I got that reference you snuck in grimmetal’s Pokédex entry
I’m glad someone did haha it’s one of my favorite moments
The bulblins look really cool, i especially love Grimmetal
Bringing back frostbite to be a counterpart of burn from arceus my be cool, cause frozen and sleep are really similiar
frozen and sleep have quite a few differences!
That’s true! I keep forgetting about those
SOMEONE MAKE THIS A GAME
Still super cool, what happens to immunities under Distort?
(ie using a ground move on a flying type with the effect applied)
Well, I guess is the same that in fifth gen's reverse battles and they become vulnerabilities
Maybe they become critical super effective damage instead
@@bilsuart Then that's an insane status condition to have. It turns Bug, Dragon, and Grass into offensive monsters and prevents yourself from getting any of the other (negative) status conditions. I'd get a mon specifically to get that condition and fire off super effective Draco Meteors into fairy types.
Turning normal vs ghost from a stand still to sudden death
I like it
Love your content. Keep it up! ❤
Appreciate it 😃
i liked it, it would be fun to use strategies with those status conditions in game
Yeah! I feel like even if it didn’t happen it would be fun to shake up some of the permanent things about Pokemon’s battle system
I think the best status conditions are Bleed, Distort and Fear, they sound really fun to play with.
And I love the new Impidimp line looks incredible, a great way to change a great line, and make it look fiercer than the dark type.
Dope! Great vid
Thank you!
Oh man I just had an idea, so I remember when they announced le chonk first think I thought was. That’s a windwaker pig
It definitely fits haha
Nice video you made there! Those type status conditions make a lot of sense too. I wonder if the Twilight status condition will affect status moves too? It would be a lot like the Contrary ability, wouldn't it?
I can already see that you inspired Grimmetal from Twilight Princess' King Bulblin. I can only imagine the appearance of the Donphan it rides.
Since Wind Waker is at the top of the list, is there any chance there's going to be a Hyrulean Manaphy based on the Wind Waker baton?
I can see that! Usually if I can visualize it in my head I can make it for the most part
There will be a Hyrulean Donphan for sure !
considering you have a phantom type, I wonder what you'll do with the Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Track phantoms? There's a lot you could do with the many variants they have
Eventually I’ll have a Spirit Tracks dedicated video and they’ll be there. It shouldn’t be too hard for me to make something I’m happy with though!
I always correlated sleep with the psychic type instead of normal since it has to do with the mind and stuff
The reason why I say normal is that the sleep
Icon (from my knowledge) has always matched the color of the normal type just like the other status conditions matching their type colors. But I agree otherwise!
This is a great idea!
Cool video! One question though, how do you evolve Impidimp to Morgrem and then into Grimmetal?
Thank you! Currently I just left their evolution method alone so whatever level they normally evolve at!
When I saw "drown" as a status condition I thought at first you ment actually suffocating. Sounds brutal but that's what water-based attacks do to Pikmin.
Haha nah just struggling to swim :)
Great video !
Thank you!!
I cannot believe that you and tarro are working together
Why is that? Haha
Honestly with the way you describe the status effects it makes me think a system like the Yokai watch inspirt system could wirk well where instead of the moves inflicting status conditions you trade off using a move and can instead inflict a status condition that's type dependent with some exceptions for special moves
That sounds pretty interesting! I’ve never played Yokai Watch but I always hear good things about it
Disarm is basically just Disable as a status condition, same with Rewind and Encore.
Ideally those moves would be removed if these existed
Keep up the great work!!!
I get the impression that status afflictions do not affect Pokemon of the matching type. (Fire cannot be burned, Water cannot be drowned, etc. Even Normal/Hyrule cannot be put to sleep.)
Hi im such a big fan and love tour project keep up the good work
Thank you so much! 😃
Maybe instead of poison for malice you could to gloom and refuse the Pokémon’s max hp until it is exposed to sunlight (harsh sunlight would count) or leaves the field
Well I basically gave that to my Gloom Hand Pokémon as an ability
Im not much of a pokemon player but this project would definitely convince me to play again, i really like the designs especially blizzora and phantasmare, never leaving my party
Personally I actually dislike modern Pokémon gameplay wise. It’s just way too easy and not engaging enough. I mostly like Pokémon for the Pokémon themselves and I like Zelda for the world and adventuring. Even just a monster taming Zelda game would be cool to me even if it wasn’t tied to Pokémon specifically.
Exhaust on a pokemon with pressure would be brutal, 5pp per move
the morgrem looks like it has an executioner look so it's as if you were going to die, no matter what side of the moral spectrum you were on.
i don’t recall this being mentioned but does burn still reduce the power of physical moves like it does in the normal games?
Tbh I didn’t even realize it did that 😳 but this version probably wouldn’t just so it’s not overloaded
@@bilsuartunderstandable
but yeah burn halves the power of physical moves, I don’t see that factor get acknowledged much outside of competitive though
@@Void_Echoes I’m pretty casual with Pokémon for the most part but yeah I never knew that, I must have read past that part on the Wiki
I would make the name for the malice type effect corruption cause in totk your hearts are corrupted away if you stand on gloom (reimagined malice) too long
True true
Ah the world of Pokémon
-
Some Pokemon should also have Battle Abilities that boost the chance of inflicting these ailments or have a Battle Ability to guard against specific ones.
I like all your ideas !
Maybe you could have added positive status effects, like regeneration for the fairy type
You should make this a Pokémon fan game!
@@bilsuart I see. And yet another reason to have the sparky flame mouse on my team!
it's funny that the status of the drgn type will be a little opposed to move dragon tail
That sounds pretty cool! There will definitely
Be a King of Red Lions Pokémon for sure
❤Loved the video, just a question,is there a list of all the Pokémon and their names and types so I can make my dream team.
I’ll put something together soon!
I do t think you’ve formally introduced Eziwi in a video yet.
Possibly in my Forest Dungeon video but I can’t remember
