I saw Kevin several times with Benighted. He's a beast of a drummer and a hard worker.
Now that Dan is back in Ne Obliviscaris, Kevin would be a top tier choice for Archspire!
If Kevin gets the job, I'm afraid he'll quit Benighted and I really don't want that

Faking an audition is foolhardy and shortsighted at best.
Yes and no, his aim might be getting recognition via YT and just monetize his channel later on. They are many profitiable channels on YT that are just fake skills,fake people, fake tips and so on and forth. Yet they still are not being taken down.

Greg A Smith is the frontrunner IMO. You can hear the acoustics of his drum where as a lot of guys sound too fake. Spencer's shoes will be hard to fill either way.
The dude is so legit hes been in my phone as Greg Gravity Blasts going on 20 years. Not a better personality nor performer fits the bill better than him. 🤘
I agree! He deserves it imo. Dude literally knows every song! And is already in a similar style band

Kevin Paradis is of course one of the best drummers in metal right now but I'd honestly prefer to see them put one of the small dudes in the limelight, there's some crazy talent coming from nowhere that deserves a chance.
My favorites are specifically Greg A. Smith and Cole Summerhays if anyone wants examples.
Alex Rudinger should take a chance with them!

Greg Smith is the best fit professionally and personally above any other candidates.
Haha the fact that whoever gets chosen is gonna have to leave a different band and if they’re good enough for archspire then they are gonna be hard to replace and it’s gonna be a never ending cycle of replacing drummers
It wouldn’t be so easy to fake if archspires drum production didn’t sound like a cartoon in the first place 🤷🏻♂️

Jamie Saint Merat from Ulcerate is the true master of drums in modern death metal. Archspire is a group of virtuosos aimed at the TikTok generation.

I absolutely love Ulcerate and Merat is my favorite drummer... But to downplay Archspire is pretty unfair. They're incredibly gifted as well. This isn't football, you don't have to have "a team", you can appreciate more than one...

Why would someone do fake drums in an audition ?? They will play with the band eventually. Do people really waste peoples time like that ? I just don't get it , Dude was on Drumeo for the Fastest Hands , i think .

I don't know what these people are expecting to do when they have to play for the band if they're phoning in their auditions. All they're doing is wasting the band's time (if they somehow managed to not notice the bs) and putting themselves on a stage to fail. It's an audition to play AND write for this band. Like.. dude didn't even think another TAKE was worth the time. How the hell could anyone see that and expect to be able to rely on them as a band mate?
I have no opinion on all this.
The top 3 (personal opinion) in no particular order: Kevin Paradis, John Longstreth, and Wildy Souza. Any of them would be a great fit though I'm really hoping it's Kevin.
Kevin was so clean with it. My vote would be him as well.

Too many edited videos for this archspire stuff man. There are way too many people editing videos on the internet, but I guess that is to be expected because everything on the internet is edited.
To be fair, I would not be shocked if even Spencer faked his own shit. Extreme metal being fake is something that producers mention all the time.
I have a friend whos a drummer and he can play archspire shit perfectly . So could george kolias from nile.
Spencer is a beast! I’ve sat right in front of him a whole set. He makes a few mistakes but overall he’s damn near spot on the albums.
check out Spencer's rehearsal of Involuntary Doppleganger (vid is just titled "new song"). It's a phone recorded video and sounds pretty good.
I've seen them live 3 times. No other band I've seem comes into a set and nails it as cleanly as these guys do. They're big in Tech Death for a reason. They all excel.
That dude is actually a dope drummer. Drumeo just released a video of him 2 days ago and has over 400,000 views already. I'm sure he can actually play whatever he uploaded but it's probably several takes comped together and the snare and kick are compressed to tits or sample replaced.
No one sais he isn't able to play it. The problem is that he claims that the video isn't edited.

@@Kimberlight Im sorry for misunderstanding you. The way you phrased it implied to me, that you'd think others didn't believe he was that good. And where did you write that he claims that his videos are not edited? You just said that his videos are edited.
There's a huge difference between playing a relatively easy 200 bpm Dragonforce song and playing a 350 bpm Archspire song.
Maybe the guy complaining about the ‚fake drumming‘ of Riccardo Merlini should have a closer look at Riccardos work. He‘s obviously picking on the wrong guy, as Riccardo is well known for his insane speed, especially on the snaredrum.
Watch the full video before criticizing Craig Reynolds please… he knows he’s a beast of a drummer. But that doesn’t excuse any cheating, and I’m not talking about triggering, but adding hits that simply does not exist is just not how you promote extreme drumming. Stop defending people that are faking their capabilities for views, even if they’re really good.
The skill of the drummer is irrelevant. The video is fake. End of story.

There are few drummers that should get rid off, been always listening metallica, since 13 years old but Lars should go play that tennis instead, even he is mentioned almost on every song that ain't true
That "someone" faked his drums is only Riccardo Merlini, the best Mike Mangini student and the fastest hands alive. Can't fake that, besides that video was heavily edited and later uploaded raw. Also, that "garbage" is probably the best fit for Spencer.
James and Wildy are my choices.
