We love finding cool places around Norfolk so we created another list of our favorite things to do, see and eat in Virginia Beach here: ua-cam.com/video/XtRduSaQJ3k/v-deo.html
Hey "Detour Duo," I was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia (VA)! I attended Lake Taylor H. S. in Norfolk and later moved to Chesapeake, VA and attended Oscar Smith H. S. I left VA after graduating from H. S. and only returned to visit family. Watching your video tells me that Norfolk has really changed over the years. Thanks for the tour and updates....
Yup we love right off that Street. We were actually planning a bar your down the strip so we left it out, but a lot of the bars were closed at the time. Actually, thank you for reminding me. We need to get on that now with businesses open again
Great job showing off the city I was born in. Your top 8, well 9, list is right on the mark. Some suggestions to add for the next 8 video. Slover Library, an historic cemetery tour, The Hermitage Museum, The Tide light rail, the Elizabeth River Ferry (best $2 boat ride), the Cannonball Trail, the Pagoda, and finally take in a concert at the NorVa.
I love Norfolk Virginia Norfolk Virginia is one of the best cities in the country with the biggest navy base and with a lot of touristic fun places like the waterfront and the beach and Norfolk sure does have a lot of nice history
I lived in Norfolk for many years, great job on this video. I would add the Ghent Neighborhood to the list, as there are many great shops, restaurants, and beautiful homes to check out. Catching a movie at the Naro is a must.
Haha we've lived here for a little bit now. At this point, I think our friends would get mad if we had missed up the pronunciation. Haven't had Azalea Inn, but this is actually perfect timing because we're looking for a new pizza spot
Such a fun compilation of places. We've never been to Norfolk... but we're gonna put the Neon District, Botanical gardens and the Virgina Zoo as our top three after watching your vid. Mermaid scavenger hunt sounds awesome. New friends here :)
Your video graphics and videography is so cool! I really like your style. The tips are really great too. Will have to re-watch this video before going to Norfolk one day!
Thanks! We're thinking of starting a series like this for our travels. Had one in mind for Baltimore but we didn't want to travel for the holidays thinking someone similar to Thanksgiving would happen with an uptake in cases
Great video, awesome editing. Only things I would add would be Granby street downtown (specifically mentioning the Norva and MacArthur mall) and Ghent (specifically mentioning the Naro)
Thanks for the great suggestions. We thought about a few quick mentions but with the way things are with social distancing, there were a few locations we couldn't visit during filming. Naro theater for instance was still closed at the time.
Thanks for sharing the info about the Mac & Cheese Festival. I missed it this year and will be on a Mediterranean cruise next year, but perhaps in 2025.
Oh! That mermaid is very interesting. I am curious about that kind of tourist spot. Well, overall, that battleship is the most interesting I think, besides, my sister-in-law lives in Wisconsin, I think it’s time. Thanks for this trip
It really is and we totally agree. Definitely recommend a trip to the Battleship Wisconsin if you're ever in the area. So glad you liked the video. We're planning on putting out more, similar content so make sure to subscribe!
This was a great video guys!! I would LOVE to come visit the Nautical Museum, as well the Neon District looks absolutely wild for some nighttime photography! In Winnipeg (which is right near us) they have a similar thing to the mermaids all over the city. But I’m true northern fashion it’s polar bears haha!
Neon District is really great for nighttime photography! Haha. We've seen carabao and pig statues. Haven't seen polar bears yet lol. We're hopeful we will be able to get up to Canada once things get somewhat back to normal.
Love all these drone shots!!!! Haven't been to Norfolk before, we would love to check this place out. Your editing is amazing and polished. The Neon District is something my wife and I would love. Really cool they keep adding more mural. A Mac and Cheese Festival is something our little one would lose her mind. She loves Mac and Cheese. The Botanical Garden looks so pretty!!!! So sad we didn't hit the beaches this year due to the crazy time this year. Next year, hoping to catch a beach. Thanks for sharing all these great places. New sub to your channel Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Hello again! Thank you so much for subscribing , and glad you liked the shots. We're still growing, but thinking of adapting more of this style for our travel vlogs. Norfolk gets a rap for being a military town, but there really are amazing places there. And Virginia beach and the outer banks are a short drive.
I have never been to Norfolk but I really want to go! We travel a lot but usually go out west... Thanks for making this video! I saved it and I’ll watch it again before we go:) Love your channel. Just subscribed! Sending love to your channel from my channel called Collins Country... Have a happy new year and keep posting! I am excited to see what you post next:)
Thank you! We actually both lived out west before starting this channel. Feel like we really missed some prime content there. We love the west coast and can't wait to go back. Really can't wait to travel again in general. Happy new year. 🎊
Oh cool. You live in Norfolk? Where about? And thank you! We were worried we wouldn't do it justice because we didn't fit ALL there is to do in the video
@@jamesconklin120 Aint none of us pronounce it like that. Its sometimes Nawfolk or Norfolk. But im not sure if auto correct did that or your making a laugh out of us.

Yeah, the areas of Norfolk have awful drivers. There's no question there, but we found we could still explore this place without much worry about traffic.
Nice to meet you! 👋 Hope you’ll you to monetize fast! A new friend to your channel for that to happen sooner ❤️ Would be very glad to receive the same gift 🎁 Stay strong! And may good fortune smile upon you!

I know exactly where Lake Taylor is. Sara used to work for Virginia Wesleyan around the corner.
I didn't think Virginia could be this cool! You guys did an awesome job on editing and narrating this vlog :D
Thank you so much. We didn't know if we wanted to adopt more of this style or not. Glad you like it!
Cool list. I’ll also add that if you visit Granby St in downtown Norfolk it has a great handful of blocks full of bars and restaurants

Gotta get out to Norfolk and explore more, it looks so nice and underrated! Especially love the Neon District, those murals are INSANE!
I wish we could do it more justice. The restaurants there are pretty cool too but we explored right when COVID started

Thank you, and great suggestion! We're planning a separate video exploring Ghent in more detail when we can visit the shops freely.
Come and watch speeders race through prince Edward way and run the stop sign at Llewellyn 😮
someone is always going to complain. Never gets old no matter where you visit 😂

I hear so much about the crime in Norfolk , so this is refreshing 😏

It's ok. We didn't know either until we decided we wanted to do UA-cam and started really getting out more.
