What did yamaha pay for this shootout?
Yams rock
The real winner is the modern motocross consumer! 7 different options and they're all solid, what a time to be in motocross.
It's a great time to be riding dirt bikes!
It’s going to get much better my friend. Beta has new mx bikes and Triumph is coming
This guy gets it 👏
Thanks to them city kids riding in the streets ! They are the one carrying this dirt bikes
@@flacco1679 thank you 👌🏼😂
Nice review. But, if I've learned anything after several shootouts, it's that none of them seem to agree on anything other than the Suzuki is at the bottom.
Suzuki still rocks. Though I ride Yamaha now! Lol
Comprehensive article should be live on our website by Wednesday and the round table video around Friday! 😁
Good to have you back big dawg.
I’m getting impatient can’t wait to see your feedback
Where was this filmed?
It’s Friday lol
@@dekancaine yeah yeah, I’m behind, finishing it right now 😝 article will be live today and the first part of the round table is live with the GasGas (check our recent videos)
Well stated in the intro. The “best bike” could be the worst for a particular rider and “worst bike” a perfect match. All about preference, they’re all great bikes.
Yes ! For me it's Yamaha 99% the time. Like when I replace my personal truck every 5yrs...I shop around..always end up bk @Ford store as the F150 is unbeatable kinda like the YZ450F.
@@Davido50 Ford🤣
My “best bike” is whichever dealership is more willing to give me the best deal.
Yamahas are great machines and so are the rest of them, I own a 21 yz 450 and all I can say is the new breeds of bikes are unbelievable.
Yamaha, 12 years of development with a backwards motor and they finally won a premier class pro championship! I love the unmatched reliability and durability the Yamaha has always had. It's nice to see the Yamaha design finally getting the respect it deserves.
Can’t agree more bro. Love my yamaha, always been a yamaha fan and i love that they are starting to really bite back and claw back their reputation.
I agree also .. Yamaha are the innovators in this 4 stroke era
@@sirsyphron7878 there reputation has been back i had a yz250f it was great the brakes and clutch weren't as good as my ktm 250sxf but the motor was so good. only rzn i switched to ktm was bc the bike was so wide the ergos on the ktm fit me the best but yamaha and ktm have been on the top of the game for the past 5 years basically untouched
You do realize the bike the factory guys race and win championships on is nothing like the stock one, right?
@@Rubbinz24 Same frame, same engine cases, same swingarm, same backwards motor design. So while I agree they are different in many ways I would also argue they are more similar than different.
Good short test and Fly kit looks great all done well Michael as usual.
tldr: RMZ will be fine for 92% of the weekend warriors on youtube. Or save some money and get the gas gas
As a Yamaha rider I say that I really enjoyed the rmz handling not a bad bike
Don't know about after sale service in USA but here in EU ... Yamaha and Honda are on the Lead, in case of Problem, Suzuki Ktm... are a real headeck to solve issues! So i'm glad to have 3 Yamaha's 😄
6-9% I would say 👍🏻
EXACTLY!!!
I’m looking at the RMZ, it looks it would be a fun trail bike.
Michael Lindsey is by far the best reviewer. 98% reviews are absolutely garbage and he actually provides quality and valuable info and breaks it down in a great way. Wish he did the 250 also for model year 22
Great shootout....The Yamaha is a great bike no doubt!
Michael is the man. Good to see him back at Vital MX!
Well his team did go under, needs something to keep the lights on
Where did he go? Didn't he switch to racer x or something?
Does he stick with anything he does or he just jumps all over the place.
@@pjbuckmaster I worked for Vital MX for almost five years, then left to try some projects on my own for a little over a year and started the team, did that for two years and now I'm back at Vital.
@@pjbuckmaster Any 28-year old who sets up his own race team is badass in my book.
Will be interesting to see what Triumph bring to the table with RC developing it
Nice to see Micheal back
Good to be back.
Thanks I like this version!! Good job!! 👊🏻
Great shootout. Unbiased. Straightforward. Keep it up👍
Excellent ! What a presenter 👍. Glad it worked out once again. And, yeah, i just subscribed 😁
Hard to make a bad choice with any of these new bikes they are all very capable. Bikes have come a long way even just the last decade.
Great work ML
Mikey is back!!!!! This guy it a true man of the people and his intelligence and integrity are equal!!!
Michal you are the best 👍🏻 nice to see you back
I THINK YALL SHOULD DO A WORKS EDTION SHOOTOUT WITH THE HONDA, KAWI, KTM🙌
Monster edition yami
I mean they could do the yami but only difference between that bike and the regular bike is graphics.. that bike is in the 450 shootout just with stock graphics.. I was meaning doing one with the actual works edtion bikes. Kawi set the bar pretty high with that SR edtion. I’ve got one on order for December
Must be so cool to try these back to back!
Agree, plus ripping around on all those new beasts at a closed-course Glen Helen. Incredible.
Awesome work guys, thanks
you should do a worcs edition/special edition bike shootout now that kawi has the sr
Exactly what I was thinking
Love my 2021 YZ250F.
GasGas is kicking butt, gotta say I love mine, best performance per$ spent for sure.
Really appreciate you're breakdown. Can't afford to buy them all...
Welcome back ML
I wish suzuki got their stuff togethor, an electric start and a good power plant, would help them get back towards the top. I miss the days when suzuki was a top factory team, good days
When they were 2t!
@@guyonthecouch136 late 2000's they were dominant, ricky charmichael ended his career winning on an RMZ and ryan dungey gave them their last good season. after that, they starting going down hill
@@scallop640James Stuart another great rider on Suzuki. I always forget dungey was on suzuki.. Here in Australia it's always been hard to follow the pro motocross as no one has the rights to air it. It's 2021 and I still have to steal it to watch, sad really when I would happily pay for it especially now with Jett and Hunter.. Cheers for the info
@@guyonthecouch136 true, james did okay on suzuki lol. Hey man praying for you guys in Australia, sounds like some crazy tyranny going on.

Just picked up my ‘22 yz450 today. She rips!!!
Ur helping us but having fun while doing it respect
Awesome test!
You can kinda see why JA21, ET3 and some other shifts with riders and manufacturers happened this year.
Tomac switched to Yamaha because they were willing to let him make the calls. Kawasaki and pro circuit have a certain standard to their bike set ups and Eli just wasn’t getting the support he needed. Couldn’t tell you why Anderson switched, likely money.

Outstanding test.
Best of best. New '22 YZ450F will be in bk of my F150 truck next wk!
Can't wait to see ET3 on Blue.
The great thing with the Suzuki is 2nd hand parts will be around for years.
Try and get parts for 1 and 2 year upgrade models down the track will be a pain.
Been restoring Asian bikes for decades and can say you are absolute correct. The worst of the worst is Yamaha. Finding original equipment parts is darn near impossible. When deciding on a resto, Yamaha is the lowest on the list. Parts availability is questionable!
It’s funny how theses shoot outs work , pretty much the same bikes as last year none of them have not changed from last year except for bng and it’s totally deferent out come then last years shoot out
Apparently you didn’t listen. And yes some had changes
As a Shootout is subjective on opinion, a major change in test riders or format can ultimately change results year-to-year.
@@vitalmx I always liked your shootouts. This one I liked as well cause you guys test them on rough tracks where it really counts!
Michael Lindsay came in swinging, good work bro
That sand track looks awesome!
Great video!
GasGas are making moves! I own a 2021 mc450 and for a new rider its amazing!
I picked up a 2022 Gas Gas MC350
Last year I asked a my friend who is Barcia going to ride for he says gasgas.who is that. It's amazing you got gasgas 2nd in there 2nd year that was a quick climb to runner up.Hope Barcia stays healthy this coming up season he had some really good days last year
Even though Suzuki always gets last it takes 1st in the looks department
As we all know it's the looks that's most important .
It’s all about the rider………
thats what im saying lol best color and the design is 👌. i hope when they finally add e start and give it a better motor they dont fuck up the plastics 😂
I GUESS BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE of the beholder...because I think it looks like a pile of steaming garbage!
@@MXJEFF94 valid opinion but may i ask why? the bike looks sharp and modern if not more so than others like the yamaha and kawi. and the yellow just adds to it for me
Interesting to see the husky so far down while mxa has it at the top, and they had the same reasons for the choice as well
Which bike is best for tall riders? Longest peg to seat measurement?
All these bikes have pro teams, that is so good for the sport
Great comparison and very very helpful .
Not sure why this channel doesn’t have atleast 100k subscriptions yet 🤔
That Suzuki is the one for me !!! Not going pro, and that price is low !!! Wahoooooooo !!!
Wonder of the Gas Gas result translates to the 350s?
great video
I chose the 2021.5 “factory edition” KTM 450 SXF. It’s one of the only 20 in the state of Texas. And it’s perfect. KTM did an incredible job again
WOW! I did not see that one comming! Husqvarna 2nd to last :P I know a different bike magazine putting it at the top :P Nice to see that the testers don`t get biased by other tests :P
Mxa mosiman is in love with the new husky
Thnx Fellas 👍😉😁
When is the KXF 250 2022 review coming out ?
I cannot believe GasGas made second place like wow 🤩🤣 same assembly line as KTM and Husky but the GasGas has “minor parts” compared to KTM and Husky right (please let me know if I’m wrong) great shootout 💯😎
YZ for life!!!... two-stroke that is.😉
The Suzuki is back
Glad to see yams coming out on top not saying they’re the best or better or anything but from dirtbikes to 3wheelers to quads Yamaha really does rev your heart! I haven’t got a chance to ride the newer yfz450f but can’t wait to throw a leg over one.
Best bike in shootout! They build awesome sport quads. #YFZ450R
@@Davido50 .. best quad ever made was the banshee imo , I rode a friends at pismo and the smell, torque , sound of a 2 stroke and a twing cylinder 2 stroke at that .. fucking bad ass
Which one laps the fastest?
Man ive been looking at ktm but theres a 2022 in my area for sale, pretty built hinson and some other updates for 7500. Think after this video i might scoop it. Excited to see the dif between this and my. Rm125 lol
Good start for the Gasgas.
Honestly, I think they should use the same test riders. There were changes made but not big ones to each bike. Everyone has their opinion but how does the kx450 finish first in the 2021 shootout and 5th in the 2022 shoutout. It's hard to base an opinion with these types of shootouts. But again, if your not a pro any of these bikes are good.
We used roughly the same test riders for quite a few years, we had a little change up the last couple years but it’s normalizing again.
@@vitalmx I hear ya! I'm a Kawasaki fan. So I'm always going to pick them lol.
@@vitalmx Get two or three riders thats new to the sport and throw in the mix. I would like to hear their opinion on which one they like.
I wt hed their video of 2021 bikes and it was honda in second and Yamaha in first. I had nothing but issues with my 250 kawi
@@justinc.6339 I'm talking about the 450s. I havnt had any issues with kawis either way.
Can you link the article? I didn't find it
Any tall riders have any of the 2022 bikes? I'm 6'5" ,190lbs not around the holidays. Looking to grab a new bike soon!
You guys do a good job. I’m 6’3” and 260lbs with gear, so a stock bike isn’t something that will work for me. I like that you can make any of these bikes what you want them to be. For me it’s a 19 kx450, lots of adjustable cockpit room. And unless you’re the ideal size for Moto, you’ll definitely benefit from having your suspension done. It’s life changing.
I'm a big guy as well 6'4" 290 lbs. I need a bike that will fit my frame. Older Yamahas are best for me but I need a modern model. I have no clue what direction to turn. I see you like the KX. I wonder if that would work for me.
Please do a super mini shoot out
Does anyone actually use the mapping and traction control features?
i am surprised that the husky placed so low, the gasgas came in second, and the yamaha in first
this is my dream motorbike
I stopped riding in 04 and I was only comfortable on Honda. I had a 97 cr 125 and I rode my buddies Kawi 125 and hated it. Another friend had a 98 YZ 125 and the ergos on that bike I think I rode it 25 ft and stopped just because it was so weird to me. I would have had to replace the entire triple clamps and bar set up to get comfortable. Haven't ridden a new 4 stroke but I am just not in to the sport as much anymore so they all seem ugly to me.
Still going with Suzuki do to how awesome it handles and rides and turns. Every bike gets suspension tweaks anyways.
They’re all great bikes. Especially when you grew up on 90s 2 strokes. Pick your color and have fun.
Why wont you try out the TM bikes?
I love Suzuki's so much and the way they ride, but why aren't they upgrading stuff? My 3 favorites finished 5th, 6th, and 7th
Suzuki has been an underdog for a very long time. 2005 was an excellent year for all the models. The RM 250 was a solid 2 stroke and had an excellent chasis. Who knows what there future holds though
@@tjacobemxw109 We're expecting to see some updates next year.
I own and race a 19 RMZ 450. I love it. Got my suspension done and a few other upgrades and it rips. Just wish they would give us an electric start next year as I will be buying a new bike in the spring. Plus, it's alot cheaper. I bought my new out the showroom for $7200
I hope there are some big upgrades coming. I am waiting for the RMZ to get electric start! Suspension doesn't matter to me because I'll have it redone. I just love how easy the Suzuki bikes are to ride. I hop on and always feel at home. People seem to love arm ripping power, but I'd rather a bit less power and be able to handle the bike.
I had a 2003 RM125 and it was my favorite bike I ever owned!
Yeah it's funny how the all the best cornering bikes came last. Really has alot to say about rider preference as I've tried to jump on the Blu-Cru bandwagon but they are just pigs in the corners and suspension is a moot point when these days they can all be made great after a revalve. I'd rather a revalved Honda or KTM
Yamaha does it again
Of course, best bike buddy 😉
Looking forward to the 250 Shoutout, I recently bought a CRF250R and want to know how it will rank against the competition.
Well, just look at the Lawrence Brothers racing this past year in SX & MX, and you'll see just how good it can be with competition. Great performance & durability. I'm a heavier/athletic type guy and I need to change the suspension setup for every bike I own anyways. The Honda is a wonderful choice. Ride what you love - and it's hard not to love Honda. My next buy will probably be a Honda CRF450RX!
@@jonathondavis170 they didnt ride the new hondas this year lol. 250s had the dual pipes. 450s are essentially a model year ahead so they had the new generation model but the 250s did not
@@207films Did I say anything about the old or new models? Nope. I was purely talking about the CRF250R platform as a whole - if anything, bringing in the fact that they did so well on the last generation bike only proves that the new gen bike will be that much more competitive with the diet, power, and chassis upgrades.
You sure got me, didn't ya??? lmbo 😄 🤣 😄
@@jonathondavis170 uh he kinda did. OP was saying he's looking forward to the shootout with the new 250s since he has a NEW CRF 250. You said look at the lawrence brothers to see how good IT can be... Implying that they rode the new 2022 CRF 250s...They did not ride the new 2022 CRF 250s in MX or SX.
So yeah. Shut up.
I heard it came in last, just saying motor on.
Great video, but still think KX makes the best bikes but I’m bias
Suzuki I a winner for me as a weekend shredder, didn't break the bank Yoshi exhaust added top end power.
Love that KTM saved husky and GasGas but hate that they are just clones with minor changes
Cool
They are all extremely awesome. Cannot go wrong with any one. Try a different brand! I'm a Yamaha & Kawasaki guy always ..so may go KTM or Husky this yr! - Ohio #Fox #Maxima
Is that allowed? 😉
@@kingbee1971 Sure man. Ask ppl at the track.

My favorate ktm slims moto and nice look😁😁😁😁💪💪💪💪
My opinion Honda 1st. Suzuki 2nd. Kawasaki 3rd. Owned these bikes. Believe me. %100!
I believe your opinion, just like our results are opinions.
Your scores are way different from the othe MX-reviewers yet interesting. Kawasaki has been on top 2 from what i've seen. Yamaha puts out a great bike out of Japan bikes but KTM has been killing it lately. Gas Gas was a surprise, but overall I agree with most of what was said about these bikes. They are all great unless you are racing them 100.
I thought the triple clamps on the gas gas were forged, not cast. big difference in processes.
They are cast.
Worldchampion KTM i believe😂😂😉 greetings from holland
The winner. Which ever is the easiest to ride. All have more power than a mere mortal can handle anyway.
So, power delivery characteristics over raw power, suspension and handling should be the key factors to make a for ridability.
u forgot TM. Great brand. mxgp uses them in races
We can't get them for US shootouts without buying one. Anyone wanna pitch in another $11,000-12,000?

agora é esperar o leandro silva lançar a tradução 🥲
So for most of us the RMZ is more than enough.
Waiting to see the 250.I’m thinking it going to be Yamaha first then Kawasaki and Honda. But I really don’t know
Nah, the gasgas is gonna be way up in that list too, you're crazy if one of the Austrian bikes isn't
@@samoliverio7455 forgot about that one and now I think about it more Yamaha Honda and gas gas going to be on top
Kawa....Suzuuuu...il topp
Good shootout but 2 days just isn’t enough to get accurate results.
I’d take one of the lighter narrower bikes over the wide, heavy Yamaha any day.
Shouldn't be on a 450 then
These guys saying the Yamaha is wide is so stupid. It's not something that bothers you or messes up how you ride at all. It's like noticing a bike has a different feeling bar or seat. It's just different when you go from bike to bike. Once you ride a couple laps, you're at home. Same for the rmz. That bike is sweet for a bunch of guys. None of the other bikes are gonna make the average person any faster.
As far as the weight difference of these things, is absolutely unnoticeable. If these things were given to these guys with zero info, I guarantee these results would be totally different. There is a TON of placebo affect with moto bikes due to preconceived notions going into the "test." These "shootouts" are sort of stupid really.
...& those Kawi forks are absolutely super easy to dial. I've had a 2020 & the forks were too soft on bigger hits & the rebound was too fast from deep stroke (2/3 or more) rebound. These forks absolutely need to have at least 380cc of oil. Any less & the forks "bounce" from any deep stroke rebound. What I mean by deep stroke rebound is anything from like 2/3 of travel or more. Anyway, this higher oil volume puts the spring seat in the oil at the top of the stroke & doing this helps a lot with the deep stroke rebound control. When the oil levels are low, the spring seat "pops out" of the oil as the forks extend & the rebound suddenly accelerates at the top of the stroke. The higher oil volume keeps the rebound at a more constant speed & eliminates the deep stroke rebound problem without needing to revalve the rebound stack. So a revalve of the rebound stack is a mistake. Anyway, running the higher oil volume let's you run the rebound out at 16 clicks which let's the forks eat the chop (acceleration/braking bumps) so much better than when turned in to like 12 clicks.
The other thing the forks need is the spring seats set in the "upper" (less preload) setting. This also totally helps the front bite on flat corners. The spring rate is more than stiff enough for even a 200lb guy who can ride a little. Just needs the oil levels up & the spring seat adjustment.
380cc oil (more if you're bottoming)
16 rebound clicker setting
Upper spring seat setting
The shock needs some help too. If you set the rebound to keep the shock in control from deep stroke rebound (like 12 clicks), it sucks in the chop. If you set the rebound to eat the chop (like 18 clicks), it pogo's out from deep stroke. To get the best of both worlds, the shock needs more rebound shims (4 shims 40mm × .20) & set the rebound clicker to 18...butter in chop & total control through the rollers.
I have a ton of setup info on the 2019-2022 kx450. These shootout guys don't how to dial a bike.
Yamaha definitely wide, and tall feeling, and feels heavier. Always has.
@@christopherfowler1549
Since like 17 the bikes were awesome. I ran Kawasaki's but i would've been totally stoked to ride a Yamaha.
Wider? Yes.
Is it a bad thing? Absolutely not.
The weight is Absolutely NOT a thing at all. Like I said, a blind test ride would totally change things.
Damn dude these Yamaha guys getting heated cause you prefer a lighter bike 😂
Great Shootout, just two points to amend... 1. Husqvarna has now Brembo instead of Magura. 2. Why ist the number 94 on the blue bike? ;-)
anyone know wut sand track that was?
It’s on a friend’s private property.
