    Kensington Ave is a sad place. They haven't solved the problem just moved these people to another location.

    • @lylewalker5681
      @lylewalker5681 24 дні тому

      But it is solving the problem. Like when Republican states force people who are mentally ill and addicted in their states to go to large blue states. That’s solving the problem, obviously!

    Thank you PC. For not only shining a light on the current state of affairs, but -perhaps more importantly- offering a reasonable expectation of quality and accountability through the lens of what once was and what could be again. People will never know what could be if they have no context and perspective of what once was. If people are conditioned to tolerate low standards, they will never understand the opportunity for a better reality

    Thanks for trying to explain what’s going on to that “Kensington” UA-camr, who only learned the day before about the cleanup. Funny you mentioned about making money, off the homeless, which is exactly what Drones is doing under the guise of giving out wound care supplies and syringes (which is still illegal) in PA. Dude is a homeless, convicted ch*mo who stalks women in Kensington, proof on my channel. Can’t wait for another Adam The Woo collab!! ❤❤❤

      I don’t understand how he didn’t know about the clean up. Signs were posted. He’s on the Avenue more than I am. He should have known. You are the third person to use the term ch*mo. I had to look it up and I’m shocked. How do you know that’s true?

      What's the depth of the problem

    • @barbaracarmichiel7369
      @barbaracarmichiel7369 24 дні тому +5

      @LuxLife24 there is no adequate affordable housing. The hospitals are not equipped to deal with the withdrawing addicts who are also dealing with severe infections. There is no medication available to deal with zylozine withdrawal symptoms, and people can die from withdrawal alone. Where do we put the ones who do get clean? Where do we put the people who are homeless only because their income from SSD, SS, or SSI can't afford any place. I am 61 and can't live off of SSD and widow benefit. I don't drink and don't do drugs. Even living in Florida, the waiting list for affordable housing is 2 to 5 years. I live with my man friend but if something were to happen to him.. He has children and grandchildren to inherent his home. And I pay a small amount of rent even though he owns the house. I was raised that no one lives for free. The bottom part is my problem, but the facts at the top are the problem Kensington and everywhere!!!!!

    Tent cities with razor wire. You get a cot, a blanket. Peanut butter sandwiches, water. You want to leave you get off the drugs, cold turkey. You do drugs again you go back. If you are a church feeding these people, enabling them to stay living rough and doing drugs then you go to the tent city too. We either get tough or we are done as a society. If we won't govern ourselves outside forces will govern us.

    Captain said it perfectly, "this is strategic"...exactly, this is IDENTICAL to what they did in Venice, CA about a year or so ago which was on the news. They restored the majority of the beach area back to normal without tents, filth, and drug abuse rampant. But Kensington Ave. was well overdue. It was atrocious what was going on, however, 36 people getting clean is awesome, but it's barely scratching the surface. There is still going to be much more to come. I pray it gets better and the suffering stops, but at some point you have to really tackle this addiction epidemic in the U.S. because it's as bad as it's ever been and continues to get worse. People were having their limbs amputated because of the drugs they were ingesting.

    If you remember years ago when they cleaned out the trestle area near Lehigh, this is a replay of that. Those folks migrated through the neighborhood and eventually found themselves at K&A. This is what allowed the property value on Lehigh to exceed $400K. Along the El corridor the property value has dropped since then and now is the perfect time to buy up the neighborhood. It’s truly sad because a lot of families that have lived through this will be priced out

    I lived in Baltimore and all over Florida. You clear their tents (homes) you give them 350 dollar tickEts for panhandling in Florida. They can't get hired because they have no address. There is no affordable housing that even if it was available, as a 61 year old disabled woman who is widowed can afford on just over 12 hundred a month. America, the rich and the poor. No middle class anymore

It is about real estate as you said. Sad Kensington Ave was a major shopping area, my mom bought furniture and appliances at Levins on Kensington Ave and Orleans Street, painted our Stella Street house with the paint she bought at Kresges, I remember what it use to be. It was 2017 or 2018 when they did a "clean up" in Kensington to this extent was of what was called El Campamento which was in West Kensington/Fairhill also around B street Bridge area and after that what caused them to move to where they are cleaning up now. In August of 2021 they did do a minor clean up where they cleared it out like you said but nothing after that so people just returned. I read local news online that Frankford residents are afraid the addicts and homeless will move to Frankford station plus surrounding areas only 3 miles North or less from K&A station

    The community and the people of Philadelphia need to come together at all times so that no active addicts take control of their neighborhoods. They move from the L train area and into the blocks of residence. It's out of control but people please come together because it's infrecting the children that's our future.

    Good to see some effort, at least, to clean up the joint briefly though it might be.
    When you go back please check on the chickens for me.

    Out of curiosity, does Philly get a lot of New Yorkers moving there, because of NYC's high cost of living? I've noticed rents there being pretty much a bargain compared to places in NYC.

      Every store owner came out and kept it clean or paid to keep it clean. My dad's store was at 3135. The business association enforced the rules and decorated for Christmas.

    They are going to move a couple blocks away. Then they will move back. Just like before & with any other city that has done this.

    I know with what I’m about to say people are going to say something about it but like it is NOT the city’s responsibility to house the homeless! Each one of those individuals are adults and as adults we are responsible for our own way in life! Every one else in the world wakes up each morning goes to work, works hard to make a living and then pays for their way why the hell should these people get a handout!? This is what’s wrong with the world today. Everyone is always looking for a damn handout! We need to resort back to the old days when people were proud to work and proud of their lives. So many people today are lost because their sense of worth is gone.
    In my opinion no the homeless should not get anymore handouts they e had enough! Maybe help some of the residents that have had to put up with all of their bullshit for all these years! How their children can’t even walk down the damn street because people are doing drugs or passed out dead or they’re encampments all over the sidewalk and shit and piss everywhere how about get those families help like therapy etc since they are the true victims here!
    The “homeless” that are down there are choosing to be done there. No one has made them stay there. I agree that they should be offered treatment but that’s about it
