- Fan Friday Request:
"Hi there,
Until this episode (sometime in the early/mid-90s?) I'd never realized that the late night shows had a standby audience hoping to get in and otherwise settling for watching the taping on monitors in the lobby. Dave highlighted them on the show and decided to do something special for them. They ended up all going to the GAP to get matching outfits! There might have been more to their mini-adventure, but I remember how happy they looked and grinning about how goofy and wholesome the whole thing was. We could always use more goofy and wholesome these days - any chance we could see it again?
Thank you so much!
Brian J, Maplewood NJ"

Welcome to the Letterman UA-cam Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. And for those of you who like Miscellaneous, you may very well find some Miscellaneous here.
I miss this show so much . There was always something crazy funny going on. No matter who it was that was being interviewed Dave always came across as a genuine nice guy, the kind of guy you would love to have as a neighbor
An innocent “back to Baghdad” joke. Ah, to be back in time to 1995…
Now, that's how you treat people. You treat them with class and respect. Way to go, Dave!
I love how Dave took a shine to Tom right away. Musta reminded him of his high school PE teacher or something.
this is so mindlessly absurd it makes me weep with joy. those outfits!
Tom definitely picked out the outfit.
Well, Dave did put him in charge after all!
No one is commenting on the United Airlines commercial snippet.
Remember airplanes before 9-11?
Food??
Reservation encouraged but not required??
Chair that went back for than an inch??
Business men wearing suits???
Another world indeed.
The famous actor, Gene Hackman is the voice over person of the United commercial at the end of this video.
He has a good voice for it.
Those two guys really were concerned about going to the GAP.
Someone here commented “I miss you Dave” and I have to say that I second that emotion.
Edit: There will never be a better show on television, nor on the internet for that matter, no better presenter either and no better sidekicks than Schaefer and Henderson either. These guys mastered the KISS principle - my personal motto - they understood that simplicity is bliss.
Don't bother people, dave 😂😂😂😂😂😂
THANKS
At that time, Dave was able to create comedy out of reading the phone book.
😂😂😂😂 stan 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Since he was about to host them in a couple of weeks (no need to explain how _that_ went), Dave could’ve gave the standby audience tickets to the Oscars instead!
love dave miss min
Now I know where Conan gets his ideas from 💡
Steve Allen did the same thing 60 years ago.
Delightful 🤗
Dave was a decent person, his Mom raised him right!
They could have gotten some nice button up shirts or a sweater and Tom put them all in drab green tshirts. 😂 So funny.
Although Dave told Tom he was in charge, I think it is very unlikely that Tom chose the outfit.
@@allendracabal0819 could have been staged. Or that’s just what Tom would pick out for himself if he shopped at the Gap.
My point is that Dave's "you're in charge" comment was just an off-hand remark he made on the spot, and not actually any kind of firm decision being made. I am sure the specific plan for how to handle that many people over a short time was already put into place long before that comment was made.
@@allendracabal0819 how do you enjoy Letterman when you have no sense of humor?
@@craigcampbell1843 Are you under the impression that *you* have a sense of humor? If so, you hide it well.
❤😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊
3:40 I thought that was James Randi
❤❤❤😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
DOes anyone remember what song Paul Schaffer was playing?
Can anyone identify the first and last songs performed by Schaffer and the Late Show band? Almost a reggae with horns and piano.
What's the matter dave? What did Stan do?
What a dork
If they don't move any faster, they'll show up on Tom Snyder.
March 6, 1995, the day the world turned against pleated khakis.
If I were a part of that group, and saw Tom's taste in outfits, I'd have just called a cab and gone home.
