- in a recent interview with IGN, a lead developer at Insomniac Games sat down and explained how for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 for Sony's PS5 he decided to completely ignore the fan feedback from the first Spider-Man on PS4 regarding the Mary Jane missions where he doubled down on a universally hated feature of that game in the latest sequel. In doing this it was clearly to further the dev's own woke ideology and promote the girl boss mary sue of Spider-Man 2, Mary Jane. In this interview, the dev reveals that he wanted to double down on the missions and force people to like them instead of simply removing them and letting people play as Spider-Man in a Spider-Man game, a truly crazy concept.

My Marvel's Spider- Man 2 (PS5) Review which is developed by Insomniac Games as an exclusive for Sony's PlayStation 5, PS5 Digital, and PS5 Slim Console. Overall I wanted to like this game going in but once again Sony releases another game where the majority of the game is something you watch instead of play. 60-70% of the game is literal cutscenes and the story and combat that is there never really pulled me in or got me even slightly interested in the game at all. I would say if you didn't like the original Spider man game on PS4 or Miles Morales you are gonna think Spider Man 2 is Trash or Spider Man 2 sucks. this is more of the same with no real significant changes. there are certain moments in this game that are genuinely enjoyable but my overwhelming sentiment towards the game is definitely negative. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is another prime example of the Generic, Boring, and Mediocre Sony PS5 First Party Exclusive formula in action.
There was a lot of controversy surrounding the downgrade in Mary Jane's character model in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 from Insomniac Games on PlayStation 5 being dramatically changed compared to MJ's model in Spider-Man on PS4 & PS5. Overall it looks like she aged 20+ years and could have literally been Peter's mom at times. Well it has recently come to light that one of the key writers for Spider-Man 2 at Insomniac has self inserted herself into the game in the role of Mary Jane which would explain the downgrade in her appearance and overall awful writing and character development in Spider-Man 2, as well as the continuation of the long detested Mary jane Missions which literally serve no purpose other than to pander.
Insomniac Games & PlayStation have proven to be Hypocrites once again with their claim of being LGBT "Allies" by removing all the woke missions from the Middle Eastern version of the game. This goes to show that the only reason this stuff was ever put in the game in the first place is blatant virtue signalling to the point where they can literally just remove it with literally zero actual effect on the game itself. This is also ironic considering that when Spider-Man got a PC port a few years ago, users were getting banned by modding sites for doing the exact same thing and replacing pride flags with American flags but now Sony and Insomniac are putting out an official version of the game doing exactly just that - Ігри

It's absolutely insane that they could have had Silver Sable, Black Cat, or Yuri be playable in the game but instead they went with MJ. You have three notable female characters who are competent fighters that people would be excited to play as yet they chose the one who is just a civilian and needed to have reality bend around her to make her OP by their own admission.
But common sense is too much for the crazy devs to realize.
Hell, both Yuri and Black Cat are in the game.
There was no excuse not to use them, especially if they wanted female characters to play as opposed to MJ.
They aren’t important in the grand scheme of things in the story. Sable is dealing with shit symkaria. Black cat is dealing with her own shit. Yuri is a side character u get to team up with in the flame missions. She’s a anti hero and it isn’t a wraith game would you wanna okay as someone who isn’t even a main protagonist. Never was. Y’all complain about the dumbest things. Mj is actually a character that makes sense to play as. And it’s only 3 missions and they’re actually fun this time around.
They know full well they could've used those characters but they purposely didn't cause the fans complained the last time so they did out of spite. I can't stand them tbh. It baffles me that at no point it seemed like Insomniac went, "We can make Black Cat playable so the player can have a little more fun with her abilities and stealth sections would make sense for this character." It baffles me.

Chase parts are more like a illusion and you can stop to drink a cup of tea. Some quick time events are a illusion too. You can do nothing and there is no fail state. Nothing happens. Her sections in the first game were dog shit too.
So many unnecessary mechanics, assets and etc used just so they could feed you multiple hours of this god awful content that is just illusion of playing a game. It could have been used to polish the game or add meaningful content. You can remove all the gameplay with MJ and you will not lose anything. Probably even make game more enjoyable.

I’m not a huge Spider-Man fan or anything but doesn’t making MJ an overly capable character sort of detract from the character of Spider-Man? Isn’t one of the caveats of being a hero with a secret identity that if the villain finds out about Peter/Miles’ loved ones then being Spider-Man puts them in jeopardy?
Seems to me that Spider-Man doesn’t have to consider the morally gray choice of bringing civilians into his life since they can beat up thugs and organized crime syndicates with a wave of their hand.

It's sad to see that one of my favourite game developers Insomniac, the gaming studio that made such great games such as Spyro The Dragon and my personal favourite PS2 franchise Ratchet and Clank to fall so low in the future.

It kind of scares me of what they will do with the 3rd game. Obviously the green goblin will be the main villain but I am not sure if they can handle the dynamic between peter and norman. Cutting out stuff like Venom, possibly carnage and more Black Suit spider-man for mj to one shot many trained soldiers seems like a very bad move. If they needed a female/different perspective they should have used black cat for stealth missions. She can fight and make more sense for her to do it. She can even team up with mj and you could have mj wear a black cat tech suit to give her an edge as well.

Peter will probably stay, but too many games to one character is not good, as they need to end somewhere and take a back seat, or future writers or stories may ruin what the original was by creating it in their own new image or vision.

It’s funny how like you said, you’re basically flying when you’re gliding until at some point out of nowhere, the game remembers that you’re gliding and not flying and so, you just begin to dramatically lose altitude and speed out of nowhere. It’s weird

Maybe it's just me, but as a black kid with a hispanic parent, I don't feel properly represented by Miles Morales at all. If that was ever the goal of Miles Morales, they dropped the ball pretty hard with me. Idk how a mild mannered scientist in his mid-30s has more personality and charisma than an afro-latino teen from Brooklyn but this game proved it was possible.

I was so pissed off and uninterested while playing the majority of this game that I wanted to stop playing altogether. But I had paid (wasted) good money for it and so saw it through to the end. But my God it was a slog to get through.

Escapism is dead. Earlier we used to turn to videogames,movies etc to escape everyday real life, our daily struggles, all the politics & noise around us. We used to play videogames to enter this magical fantasy world that was very different from our shitty world so we forgot about our world.
But now, we can't escape it anymore. We pay $70 to companies not to escape reality, but to be lectured by them & get more politics & propaganda shoved down our throats as if we don't get enough as it is in real life.

For me a game can be a 10/10 in terms of graphics,performance,fidelity, gameplay etc & the studios/devs who created it can be highly talented but what I can't tolerate as a consumer is propaganda & lectures by a corporate especially when I'm the one paying them $70. It's better if I just moved to indie space & game on my PC.
Not just Sony games but every AAA games these days have this woke nonsense. AAA games are just not worth it anymore. I am not from US or Europe. I'm from a part of the world where $70 is a lot of money. We wait 5 years for these big AAA games, spend so much money after saving for months & what do we get? We get lectures & we get boring repetitive movie type simulators where half the game is cutscenes & other half is a checklist of collecting useless items. And other AAA games not published by Sony are broken mess. You pay $70 to get bugs,glitches & apology from game devs that the AAA game is unplayable on day one.
So why shouldn't I or anyone move to indie space? Indie games dont have woke BS & virtue signalling. They are much more cheaper than your average AAA game. They don't have microtransactions, battlepasses, liveservice BS. And above all they are creative original ideas. They are made by creative passionate individuals, not greedy soul less corporates who want to sell as many copies as possible & pander to casual gamers & woke crowd. They are not repetitive movie simulators using the same tried & tested formulas over & over again in all their games. Modern AAA games are so big budget that they don't innovate & take risks simply cuz a lot of money is invested into them & they can't afford to fail. Since they dont innovate & take risks, they are all stale & boring in essence. Indie & AA space is where "real gaming" is. The kind of gaming we all grew up with. The gaming that is about enjoyment, not pandering to sell most amounts of copies
After Ragnarok, this was the last straw from Sony. I go to the gym and play old games instead.

Another problem that maybe is loosely tied to this problem is their inclusion of cindy moon in the last cutscene where she meets miles and his family,
Now I don’t think this can work at all because balancing three protagonists is a hell of a job and they will probably drop the ball with either miles or Peter to give cindy more spotlight which could make the third game kinda depressing

Even with just Peter and Miles, it was clear that they were struggling with balancing and keeping both relevant in this game. So it’ll become a balancing nightmare if they really try to make it Peter, Miles, and Cindy
@@wizardwolf1020 I think miles and Cindy will be first and foremost at the first quarter, around the same it took for Peter to get the symbiote, (if the game is longer than the first two then hopefully we get even more screen time with them two) then goblin or carnage will appear to draw Peter out for the remaining 60-70%. I guess Cindy doesn’t even have to be a spider character

I just fear that this is all to set up Cindy replacing Peter. She’s basically got the same powers except she has organic webs with greater control over them (which is kind of bs because again. Bitten by the same exact spider as Peter, on the same day, after Peter was bitten, and yet somehow got more powers than him)

If some girl with no training, no powers, and no experience can get you through the toughest mission, then what is the point of having the super heroes? Miles gets his own game, but actual spiderman has to share his game with at least four other characters for more than half the game. I get giving you the option to play as the others in certain parts, but you have no option to play as the titular character for half the freaking game

She could actually get alot of potential with all of that feats and get a good paying job or heck maybe be a superhero herself since she is sooo tough and badass and wants to help other poeple. why would she go back to her bad paying and clearly hard reporter job again?

Prototype 1 and 2 are on sale on the playstation store for like £3 each I highly recommend it for people who want an actual fun game for less than a quarter of the price of Spiderman 2 and it offers 10x the value imo
Arkham games are under £10 too definitely worth trying only down side is Arkham city/asylum are only 30fps on console

I’m going to be honest this was one of the very few games I was excited about for this year. But thank god I decided to wait for reviews. And all I gotta say is thank you griffin you save me $70. This game all it is a woke piece of shit that focus on all the wrong things. Even my cousin a die hard PlayStation guy and a Spider-Man fan hated what they did. He gave it a 6/10 being bias. If that doesn’t tell you something idk will. Me personally I’m little by little is moving away from gaming . I have a wife and family I need to take care of. I went from a hardcore gamer to the super casual gamer. Just give me cod on game pass and I’m happy.

I recently went back to batman Arkham city and it is crazy how much better it is than spider man. The mood that the world and the music creates is awesome.The game lets you get immersed without constant political messaging. You feel powerful in a super hero game. What a revolutionary concept.

.. it came out with problems.. especially for PC. We live in the time where people are comparing games that had multiple updates of improvement. I remember when GTA v came out... For the Xbox 360 in a PS3 it was a buggy mess that ran well. People were so happy that they got a GTA v that they ignored the issues.. kind of like Bethesda with Skyrim... When it released back on to the PS4 they start giving it updates to improve it. What I'm saying is if you're going to make a comparison compare the game when it first came out versus the updates.. because we all know if Spider-Man have multiple updates in the future it's going to be a completely different game... So make a comparison on a fair ground.. otherwise it comes off bias. That's like comparing a bodybuilder who's been doing it for years versus someone that's only been doing it for a month
Personally, I'm enjoying the game overall (gameplay wise, that is). However, the MJ missions I could have done without because they weren't any better this time around either. There were a couple of story missions that I thought went on a little too long, and definitely, the boss fights were WAY too long. But yeah, the first one and Miles Morales stories were better.
I really liked the first game and was very excited at what they could do to add to the second game especially with Venom. This has really lowered my expectations.
What is worst is not the part when you play MJ it when she "transform" .. When Peter wears the venom costume he is the bad guy but when MJ is under the venom influence her complaints was right and peter have to apologize...
