- The Amazing Lucas and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PS5 share a lot in common. Both are obnoxious in how they deliver their political ideologies, they both are a step down from their previous iterations, and just like an Amazing Lucas video, I couldn’t wait for Spider Man 2 to end so I never had to watch it again. Now there has been a lot of drama surrounding PlayStation & Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 game and one of the main complaints is the awful story and ending of the game where Miles Morales becomes the Main Spider-Man in the Insomniac universe after Peter Parker retires at the ripe age of 25 to fight climate change. Overall the plot of Spider-Man 2 is complete trash, sucks, is bad, & garbage; just like this video we are going to be checking out today. Because not only does it defend the narrative decisions in the most hypocritical way possible, but it does it in a down right “racist” manner

My Marvel's Spider- Man 2 (PS5) Review which is developed by Insomniac Games as an exclusive for Sony's PlayStation 5, PS5 Digital, and PS5 Slim Console. Overall I wanted to like this game going in but once again Sony releases another game where the majority of the game is something you watch instead of play. 60-70% of the game is literal cutscenes and the story and combat that is there never really pulled me in or got me even slightly interested in the game at all. I would say if you didn't like the original Spider man game on PS4 or Miles Morales you are gonna think Spider Man 2 is Trash or Spider Man 2 sucks. this is more of the same with no real significant changes. there are certain moments in this game that are genuinely enjoyable but my overwhelming sentiment towards the game is definitely negative. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is another prime example of the Generic, Boring, and Mediocre Sony PS5 First Party Exclusive formula in action.
There was a lot of controversy surrounding the downgrade in Mary Jane's character model in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 from Insomniac Games on PlayStation 5 being dramatically changed compared to MJ's model in Spider-Man on PS4 & PS5. Overall it looks like she aged 20+ years and could have literally been Peter's mom at times. Well it has recently come to light that one of the key writers for Spider-Man 2 at Insomniac has self inserted herself into the game in the role of Mary Jane which would explain the downgrade in her appearance and overall awful writing and character development in Spider-Man 2, as well as the continuation of the long detested Mary jane Missions which literally serve no purpose other than to pander.
Insomniac Games & PlayStation have proven to be Hypocrites once again with their claim of being LGBT "Allies" by removing all the woke missions from the Middle Eastern version of the game. This goes to show that the only reason this stuff was ever put in the game in the first place is blatant virtue signalling to the point where they can literally just remove it with literally zero actual effect on the game itself. This is also ironic considering that when Spider-Man got a PC port a few years ago, users were getting banned by modding sites for doing the exact same thing and replacing pride flags with American flags but now Sony and Insomniac are putting out an official version of the game doing exactly just that
in a recent interview with IGN, a lead developer at Insomniac Games sat down and explained how for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 for Sony's PS5 he decided to completely ignore the fan feedback from the first Spider-Man on PS4 regarding the Mary Jane missions where he doubled down on a universally hated feature of that game in the latest sequel. In doing this it was clearly to further the dev's own woke ideology and promote the girl boss mary sue of Spider-Man 2, Mary Jane. In this interview, the dev reveals that he wanted to double down on the missions and force people to like them instead of simply removing them and letting people play as Spider-Man in a Spider-Man game, a truly crazy concept. - Ігри

Then his facade started to slip when he immediately declared the 'jogger' completely innocent while other people were more questioning whether he was or not, considering the situation surrounding the matter. That's the point about wearing a costume, it allows the reader/player to put themselves in the hero's position, regardless of what they look like underneath the mask.

Miles Morales is Miles Morales before he's Spider-Man, because when Peter Parker is revived, Miles is, essentially, demoted to "a Spider-Man" but not "the Spider-Man" of the Ultimate's universe. The writers did that to him, not fans.
This doesn't hold true for Miguel, because his Name and Identity are intrinsically linked as "Miguel O'Hara" and "Spider-Man 2099", so the statement: Miguel O'Hara is Miguel O'Hara is not equal to the statement Miles Morales is Miles Morales. All because Spider-Man 2099 isn't shared by anyone in his universe in the same fashion that Ultimate Peter Parker and Miles Morales shared the Identity of Spider-Man in the Ultimate's universe.
It's a popularity contest that Miles Morales will never win at the end of the day, because Peter Parker is Spider-Man and Miles Morales is Miles Morales, like it or not.

Lucas's quote "I'm not making it racial, I'm just making an observation" is so relevant to this situation.
If you have to say "Only bigots hate X" then the character can not and will never stand on their own. Especially when they need to only appear in an ensemble where they have to be told how great they are. There is a reason they didn't kill off Spider-Man in the last game because even Insomniac knows Miles doesn't have a chance and eventually will bring him back.
Reminder: Miles was made strictly to be a token by Brian Michael Bendis. His own words. He isn't Spider-Man and never will be. He is Miles Milquetoast.
I didn't mind Miles from Into The Spider-Verse film, but when I think about Spider-Man, of course I and many other people will always think about Peter Parker. The problem with Miles is that he could have been a good character if modern writers of Marvel were actually smart and gave him his own unique identity, instead of giving him an identity that already exists. The reason why characters such as Static Shock, John Stewart AKA Green Lantern, Cyborg and even Spawn worked so well is because they were original characters and had good stories and writers to make them stand out. We don't dislike characters because of their skin colour or sexuality or whatever. We dislike them because they get plagued by terrible or mediocre writing and that's why these gender swapped or whatever characters always fail. It's less about writing actual good stories & characters and more about how much Twitter and LGBTQ community can go out of their way to cry about how there needs to be more representation in entertainment, rather then making it actually fun & interesting. Or just wanting characters to just bang each other, instead of actually fighting criminals & supervillains.

Well the Green Lantern example is variable. Anyone can become a Green Lantern if they have access to the ring and the ring deems them to be worthy to be its master. But the point there is that the Green Lantern corp is a group that applies to many people and not just one man, so it's possible for Hal Jordan to be a Green Lantern and for Jon Stewart to be a Green Lantern without this stepping on the other man's toes. Spiderman is not a collective identity in the same way -- since it originally belonged to Peter Parker. It would be possible in theory for Miles to become a Spiderman in time, but even if we were to accept this as a thing it's insulting to claim that Miles is a BETTER Spiderman when Peter was a Spiderman first. If the title belongs to anyone then it belongs to Peter Parker first and foremost.

Also, I don't recall anyone taking up the mantle of another superhero and actually keeping the mantle. The Flash is the only exception in that both Barry and Wally share the mantle.

Miles actually does have some villains to his name that are unique to him(about seven last I counted)... it's just that Marvel never actually uses them, because they're either generic af or just plain terrible; also, one of them happens to be Miles' 616 Universe counterpart, which is a problem for Marvel for a multitude of obvious reasons.

It’s not that Miles is black (and latino), it’s that he lacks the merit to be Spider-man thus far. He is artificially elevated to a position, often by making Peter look weaker, or less rational, or less intelligent, or needing to be saved.

He has to follow Peter beat for beat, borrow his storylines, get his own copycat villain or a recycled one, symbiote, clone, etc. But even when they do unique takes on Miles, like what if he was Thor, they do the most racist interpretation by going by what a suburban 45 year old soccer mom thinks of, whom bases her knowledge on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. They go “Okay, Thor, but Black. Like sooo black. Make sure his hair is black people style. And the kicks. Oh, he gotta call Asgard his hood. And he has hammer graffitied.”

Here's the thing, some of us do like Miles, but the problem is that Marvel doesn't allow him to become his own character. He doesn't have his own villians, his own setting/ era, and he is marketed as Miles Morales and he only works because with other spider people. Some compare him to Batman Beyond, although do i really need to explain why those two characters are not the same. The dude is just a replacement for Peter not a passing of the torch.

Exactly what I’m thinking. Take Miles out of NYC and put him somewhere else, like Miami or something, change his name to something more akin to Ghost-Spider or Shadow-Spider etc., and give him some villains that are different from Peter’s and people will like him.
DC has done this same shit with the whole Batfamily and it works: keep Bruce Wayne as Batman and give all the other characters closely tied to him (Nightwing, Red Hood, Red Robin, Robin, Spoiler, Batgirl, Batwoman, Orphan, etc.) their identities/personalities and stories and villains and locations while simultaneously keeping that connection
I don't mind Miles being the main focus in a Spiderman movie/game. Spider verse did it amazingly. Problem is the way they did it in this game and the way they just nerfed Peter.
If Peter was like 40, this plot they were going for would make more sense. But it makes no sense for a Spiderman who has been riding solo for like 10 years gets outdone by someone younger how been doing it for way less.

You know I hate when people like Lucas thinks they can speak for an entire race and believe we share a common opinion. I’m black and miles is my least like spider person. They fail to make him his own character so I have little interest in his stories. I’ve tried to read them and got bored after reading around 10 but I kept reading to see if it would improve. I hate the common trend that a black character has to take the place of a white character’s role.
They never give the many black characters we have good stories. They have to take the title of a white man to be seen interest in the eyes of these race obsessed losers. I’ll happily play a game for blade, nightthrasher, war machine, Deathlok, Falcon, Hobie brown(616), blade, Luke cage, Bishop, Black Panther, Storm, Misty knight, and blue marvel. Just finished playing Donkey Kong Country 3. Actually not as bad as you've heard, it just had big shoes to fill from the previous two. That game has an environmental message at one point, which is SUBTLE and delivered to the player without sacrificing fun whatsoever, in fact it adds to it. After completing the second world and boss, you are given a choice between two different worlds- one natural and untouched, and one industrialized and taken over by the Kremlings. This isn't just a brilliant idea because you can work on the other world if you're stuck on one of them, it's also subtle and doesn't take away fun gameplay- in fact it ADDS it! You simply experience parts of both areas and are left to draw your own conclusion about them after getting the Skis and moving on to a snowy area. There's no part where, I dunno, Cranky Kong sits both of your playable Kongs down and gives you a longwinded lecture about the history of the island that the Kremlings have planted their factories on. The game probably would have been de-canonized entirely a long time ago if that were the case.
