- The Last of Us Part 2 (TLOU2) Remastered was announced today for the PlayStation 5 (PS5) by Naughty Dog after The Last of Us Part II Factions mode was unofficially canceled and Naughty Dog was hit with a wave of layoffs. The "remastered" version of the last of us 2 will feature a new survival mode called "No Return" where you can play as various characters from the franchise which is obviously a remnant of the factions game mode. Aside from that pretty much nothing is changing and it is Safe to Say that The Last of Us Part 2 Remaster is, Pathetic, Sucks, is Trash, is Bad, and is Straight GARBAGE. If you hated the original TLOU2 for what a terrible game nothing is going to change with this new variation of the game. When looking at comparisons based on the trailer and gameplay, the visuals have not changed in the slightest and this is obviously an attempt by Naughty Dog to double dip on The Last of Us Part 2 and to get a version ready of the game for when the new Season of HBO's The Last of Us airs later in the year. This also help's Sony pad the pitiful first party exclusive games lineup for the PS5 which as far as games go does not seem to have a clear road map of AAA games in the pipeline aside from Insomniac's Wolverine Game & the extraction shooter from Bungie, Marathon. All that to say it feels a little nostalgic once again making fun of what a unmitigated dumpster fire The Last of Us 2 is...

@@BoleDaPole Probably because it actually isn't. Despite incessant fanboying from its cult following, Bloodborne didn't sell supremely well. Massive Sony budget for just its orchestra alone, yet it only sold like 2.5M copies. It might've actually been a bit of a flop. Darksiders 2 had a budget of $55M which is likely smaller than Bloodborne's, and it selling 2M copies in three months bankrupted THQ.
So while I'd love a Bloodborne remastered, it actually isn't a safe bet for Sony at all, which is the only reason they haven't done it yet. They'll need to be even more creatively bankrupt to try it.
Honestly Naughty Dog and Insomniac should do a collab and make a fighting game, where all the woman are 8foot tall beasts of testosterone, Mary "The Jaw" Jane portrayed by Randy Savage, and Abby being portrayed by Hulk Hogan.

They had plans of a Jak 4 but there was backlash when the art for the game came out last I heard. It was during the start of the trend where all they wanted to do was the realistic looking titles like Uncharted. They shelved the project soon after.

So we got The Last of Us on PS3, The Last of Us Remastered on PS4, The Last of Us Part 1 on PS5, The Last of Us 2 on PS4, and now The Last of Us Part 2 on PS5.
Yep, this is the only game series, where they have released a "new" full price port/remaster, over 3 consecutive generations of a gaming console and we can expect the same to happen when the next generation is out.

You should appreciate part 2 as good as it is. In part 3, it will be 50 hours of Abby juicing up and workout for 50 hours of game play in a gym exclusively. 10 hours a day in 5 different days. Regardless of our feelings towards the game itself, I despise how well Sony has normalized the constant re-release of their games as "remasters". @@johndodo2062Nintendo typically waits or does so when it makes sense. So most of the remasters or re releases on the Nintendo side are Wii U games, so barely anyone bought or played them so it makes sense.
Even with remasters of old games Nintendo actually puts effort in to making them different from the original releases. So Windwaker HD, Metroid Prime etc. all different at least visually or upgraded substantially in some way.
So no Nintendo isn’t the same.

This franchise is 10 years old and it consists only of 2 games and 3 remasters. Uncharted had an entire trilogy by this point plus a Vita spinoff.
I don't see why some of these new additions couldn't have just been a free update for the back compat PS5 version.
A rogue-like mode is really cool with replay potential, and the opportunity to go through some early concept levels is really cool (see Bioshock Remasters)
But the fact that this a glorified patch with a price tag and a full priced game if you don't have the base game is absolutely insane.
I get it's Sony, but they could've used the resources for this on a Bloodborne re-release or a Jak and Daxter 4k Remaster

Unless they make a whole new alternate story and a Fat Geralt DLC, this is dead on arrival - and they should really know that
Believe it or not, the sales actually mysteriously jumped from 3 to 10 million very late into the sales cycle. I actually didn't realize this myself either, thinking they were probably at 3 million and settled there after what a disaster it was. But either the reporting is false, or some resurgence actually took place. I find it hard to believe, but that is what is reported.

Mainly cause this game really had no replay value after beating it. I also heard stories of people returning copies of it in droves and Gamestop refusing returns by disgruntled customers. It is speculative as most of it comes from Reddit and other community groups. One thing is sure that they were doing their damndest to make sure it was a success, mainly for how expensive the game was overall. As it has been confirmed by outlets with the worker layoffs and third party hires being high over there during the making of the game and the Activision/Blizzard Court Case revealing how it ultimately underperformed overall when lawyers examined the sales reports for Sony, when they arrogantly opposed the merger with Microsoft, only to expose their dirty laundry in awkward ways. Namely the accurate sales # of TLOU2.

@@Gen3Hater I agree with the Pokemon games. I think that Gamefreak are perhaps understaffed and put under too much pressure to deliver too quickly. That said, most (although definitely not all) have been good to great games.
Regarding Mario Wonder though, that game is fantastic and absolutely worth the price. The amount of love and creativity that went into every aspect of the game is insane.

i remember trusting naughty dog and not reading the leaks cause i thought there had to be a good reason for their creative choices. of course it turned out the lead writer wanted a new main character and seemly hated the previous one with all his heart, even writing contrivances and coincidences out the ass right at the start(attempted to explain in dumb notes and dialogue in flashbacks) and expected to eat the slop like a dog

I pre-ordered The last of us 2 like a dummy so I had to slog through it. It was the most angry and confusing play through of a game I've ever had in my life. I can still remember the staring into abyss empty feeling I had when the realization smacked me dead in the face that yes I actually have to play as Abby-Zilla in the game. I also remember the feeling of wanting to throw my F'n ps controller out the window and put my first through the wall when I finally seen the ending which was the most cowardice and insulting ending to a video game I've ever seen in my life. Learned some lessons from it though, never pre-order again (Which I havnt) and never purchase another Naughty Dog product (Which I wont).

Nintendo do be winning the exclusives wars right now with games like Tears of the Kingdom, Mario wonder and most recently Super Mario RPG. Sony and Microsoft should take a page from their book and just make fun experiences instead of all this cinematic slop.

It feels weird to say that after what happened with the Halo show, where sticking to the first 5 games and their lore would’ve made the show a masterpiece. Here we have the exact opposite where it’s the game that feels like a fanfic and the show has the opportunity to fix it and become the superior telling of the TLOU story.
Unless they already confirmed that they’re sticking to the TLOU2 story and I’m just out of the loop.

As a Sony Fan, who also has a Series S, Switch and Steam Deck/Steam, Sony is in DEEP trouble. It's very clear if you just open your eyes to everything going on.

Games have gotten very expensive to make. So they throw on a coat of paint on older titles and market it. There's a scam boom happening world wide. It started with call centers calling endlessly to rob you, and then it expanded to movies and games. Everyone is a grifter now.

They don't want to spend the money creating a new title. Games, like movies are very expensive nowadays to create, so like movies, they want some kind of guaranteed return. Movies have become rehashes of older, successful movies, and games get a fresh coat of paint and get put out without the expense of making a new title. A side effect of all the inflation.
