This must have been a monster task to make Pete. Well done. I kept thinking I wanted to play some of these games :) Shame they never made it. Not a sg fan myself, but the game looks amazing and the concept of the star gate opens up a lot of cool gameplay options. Great video Pete. You're my scripted video example.
Yeah, it was hours and weeks of work to put this one together, Wouter. Yeah, I always thought the Stargate universe was the ideal jumping off point for developing a game; it has such a rich story and character base. Thanks very much mate, too kind.
I was very excited that you covered the Taxi Driver game. I read some articles stating that the game was supposed to be an expansion to the events of the fim & some details like if Travis killed pedestrians it would affect his mental health & ultimately commit suicide. I also found the execution system to be interesting eventhough the executions looked very goofy & unrealistic. I spoke to some hardcore fans of the film about this game & some didn’t like it because they felt that the game didn’t translate the films plot very well & doesn’t feel very taxi driver like. I haven’t watched the film, only saw clips of it, but i found the game to be very entertaining. What do you think?
I think I'd agree that the game doesn't necessarily fit in line with Travis in the film; but I haven't played it, so can't really say. Love the film though!
There are actually 3 Released PC Versions of "The Lost", each for a different market, each with a different name and each with a different main character. "Agni: Queen of Darkness" was, as mentioned in the video, the original Indian release. "Inferno: Where Death is your only Ally" was a East European release of the game and finally "NetherWorld: Beyond Time I Stand" is proper English release of the game, though I'm not sure in which markets that one was released.
Wow that was a bloody brilliant episode dude! Totally agree on the Stargate game, it looked too good. Such a shame! Also that Fist of the North Star bit was toooooo funny! hahahaha Cheers!
Thanks, Kevin! Man, I'd love a Stargate game. A Fallout/Elder Scrolls style adventure set in the Stargate universe would be mental! Haha yeah I always loved that particular move in FOTNS. I had to mute the clip though because I had a copyright strike once before when I showed a short clip from the show.

I have the graphic novel on which The Four Horseman game was based, after it's initial collapse they tried to resurrect it on the Wii, PS3 and 360 but that didn't end well either.
33:00 Legions of Fear looks really interesting and one of the best games on the list. It's too bad so many interesting looking games never saw the light of day. Great video, by the way!!!

As far as I know, that's the only time they've ever thrown some of their Japanese talent at a western game.
Yeah, I agree. Stargate has such a rich lore and vast universe and characters, that it's perfect for a video game franchise. Weird, seeing as all the big sci-fi franchises have numerous games (Star Wars, Star Trek, etc) and Stargate is pretty big (having the film, ten seasons of SG-1, plus Atlantis, Universe, etc). Fingers crossed that one day it happens. In an ideal world I'd absolutely love a Fallout/Elder Scrolls style adventure game in the Stargate universe; that would be amazing. I love the concepts in Deadlight; some really interesting gameplay mechanics there. Not heard of Silent Chaos, but sounds interesting. I'll look it up. Thanks!

That Legions Of Fear game looked boring as shit but the outdoor section looked great. Dont think there was many games i would have paid money for tho, maybe just Fear & Respect, that Fist Of The North Star beat em up & possibly H2Overdrive, tho if only that arcade one got released on 360/PS3 that would've been amazing, hopefully one day thats playable on Teknoparrot or something. Great video as usual, especially for a console i never cared for lol.
I actually like the murder mystery style adventure games, like Cruise for a Corpse, but yes it looks a bit slow. The outdoor sections look stunning. Thanks, glad you liked it, Adam!
Absolutely my favorite series you do, Pete! I gotta say, a lot of these games looked really promising, dare I say even awesome? I would have liked to try the Ghostworld game. The animations look super smooth. Also the young punk me would have loved Johnny Whatever! Fantastic episode, keep up the hard work!
Funny how this came up on My front screen of UA-cam and the 1st of GTA topic. Awesome! Also where is the Metallica exclusive? I don't suppose it is on Napster...
I need a petition starting to get Johnny What ever released NOW!!!! now thats my kind of game I think this has to be my favorite list of cancelled games, it looks like there was a lot of quality games we missed out on!
Of all the canceled PlayStation 2 games in your video, I'm really disappointed that Hokuto No Ken: Legend of the Final Hero, The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Project Dagger, Orchid, and Capcom Fighting All-Stars didn't get released. I'm surprised to even hear that the would-have-been HNK game was handled by a developer outside of Japan. If Fear and Respect, Taxi Driver, and Time Traveler at least got released, I probably would have given them a shot, too. Well, anyway, great video, and keep up the good work.
Is the lost vigilante 8 sequel on this list?the sequel to vigilante 8:2nd offrnse? It would later get restarted though on xbox360 though as a remastered version now under the title vigilante 8:arcade.
In an age of Netflix and amazon studios and the like, I’m amazed none of the developers are remaking and such for indie download stores. Edit: Kickstarter. Forgot to mention Kickstarter
Indeed. I'm sure there are good reasons. There are a lot of retro cancelled games emerging, but perhaps that generation is a bit too advanced to make finishing a game financially viable for the indie scene.
I can't say I ever watched Stargate SG1 but the footage you showed was undoubtedly impressive, which makes it all the stranger that it ended up being cancelled. As you say the set up for the show just fits a video game format, with infinite scope for level environments. Looks like it might've been something that could've challenged Halo for the PS2. Falcone sounded like an interesting idea but maybe one that was a generation too soon, I couldn't really see the PS2 being able to do all of the space combat and FPS pirate missions and still be a satisfying experience. Deadlight looked like an interesting one, offering something unique with its tweaks on the traditional FPS. It seems a lot of the others on the list might've been more generic PS2 titles, sticking more closely to what had already proved popular on the console. Hokuto No Ken looked great, definitely would've been nice to see that one although I'm guessing God Hand came close enough to scratching that particular itch. Still would've been nice to see though, especially with all the fan service included.
Yeah, Stargate seems perfect for a video game series, it's weird it never happened (beyond the average game on SNES/MD, although they were based on the film). Hokuto no Ken would have been one on my radar for sure back them. Still, there have been some pretty decent FOTNS games since! Thanks, Owen.
"many factors had to be considered with the physics like wind speed and direction, changing weather etc" you mean to tell me, that these people gave it a 5 for it's realism!?
@@onaretrotip I also started listening to metal as a teenager. I broadened (a lot) my musical horizons with the years, but I'm still very much a metal fan, so I always get excited when someone praises some of those great albums 🤘.
Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee was planned for the PS2, but that version was cancelled and oh yeah, when that version was cancelled Baragon is scrapped and we wouldn't see a Godzilla PS2 game until Save the Earth in 2004 which is 2 years later.
I once read about this cancelled game that was about a mother walking through literal Hell to retrieve her Son. What Made me curious was the mention of Philistia, the Layer of the Ignorants, in which she was supposed to face Donkey-Faced Demons. Still cannot remember its name, I wonder If I can find it in this video! EDIT: Holy cow could it be The Lost?! Sounds a lot like it!
If anyone got sad seeing that Hydro Thunder style game that got cancelled, if you haven't tried it, Riptide GP Renegade is a pretty awesome game very-much inspired by Hydro Thunder. It's a somewhat of a budget title, so it isn't going to be the second coming of the game, but it is good fun while it lasts. Also, please note that Riptide GP 2 is a horrible mobile port, where-as Riptide GP Renegade is a game designed FOR current-gen hardware, so make sure you get the right one...
I love the cancelled series. I recall seeing one of them in Metal Gear Solid 3. It's a shame though. Ever thought about doing XBOX games or Wii games too?
XBOX episode is being worked on (but I'm just at the scripting and research stage so it won't be finished for ages). Wii I'll definitely consider doing too, along with PS3 and 360.
I was building up so much hype for Four Horsemen back in the day. And as a huge fan of the first 2, was crushed when Fear Effect: Inferno never came to be. As well as Legacy of Kain: Dark Prophecy.
This is one reason why i wont get rid of my PS2, the games it has already gives me those awesome gaming memories. I just dont feel the excitement as much with newer games.
Here are some more interesting cancelled PS2 titles (in alphabetical order): D.i.R.T.: Origin Of The Species - Developed by Nu Generation Games for PS2 & PC, this 3rd person action shooter sees you control an all-girl monster hunting team. Enemies include everything from zombies to giant crabs. Game was supposed to be released in 2005/2006, but got delayed & finally PS2 version was cancelled for some reason. Game was finally released in 2009 for PC. Here's a trailer: ua-cam.com/video/wnXt5rod07E/v-deo.html Fear Effect: Inferno - Developed by Kronos Digital Entertainment for PS2 only, the 3rd installment & a prequel to Fear Effect series, it tells the story how Hana & Rain met. Game was suppose to be released in 2003, but was cancelled, because of Kronos Digital Entertainment closure by Eidos Interactive. Trailer: ua-cam.com/video/aTHKXjePz-0/v-deo.html Fighting Force 3 - Developed by Core Design for PS2 & Xbox, the 3rd installment in beat 'em up series, was suppose to be released in 2003/2004, but was cancelled because of Core Design closure by Eidos Interactive (again!). There's no trailer, but there's a mini-doc: ua-cam.com/video/2nMOJKdrhOk/v-deo.html Galidor: Defenders Of The Outer Dimension - Developed by Asylum Entertainment for PS2, PC, Xbox & GBA (only GBA version was released) & based on LEGO toyline of the same name, it's a generic 3D platformer. To be released in 2002, game was cancelled by EA for unknown reasons. Trailer: ua-cam.com/video/WYeIvQ6j1YE/v-deo.html George Romero's City Of The Dead - Developed by Kuju Entertainment for PS2, PC & XBox & set in Romero's Living Dead universe, it's a 1st person action survival horror video game, where you control horror make-up legend Tom Savini as he's trying to escape the city infested by zombies. To be released in 2005 as a tie-in to Romero's Land Of The Dead, game was cancelled for unknown reasons. Trailer: ua-cam.com/video/qTjU7BzwNek/v-deo.html Mad Max: Asylum - Based on post-apocalyptic franchise created by director George Miller & producer Byron Kennedy. Melbourne House wanted to develop a Mad Max game for PS2, but they didn't have a licence. They created a short pitch-trailer to show Miller, but he didn't like it, because it was too similar to Mad Max: Fury Road, which entered development at the same time (it was 2001), thus canceling it. Can't find the trailer, so here's a doc: ua-cam.com/video/o0g5hvx1lwA/v-deo.html
Aliens: Colonial Marines was canceled on PS2, screenshots of the game where released but the game was never released. The title would later be taken by the PS3 game but the story & gameplay was not adapted.
If you do more cancelled PS2 games, I hope you'll touch on Snake Plissken's First Escape as I would love to know the reason for its cancellation despite having John Carpenter, Kurt Russell and even Debra Hill involved with the game. I know it was supposed to be a prequel to Escape From New York.
Asylum, Four Horsemen and Deadlands interested me the most, luckily Darkwatch is a similar western horror game that is fantastic (btw that was almost also cancelled btw, THANK GOD we got Darkwatch)
@@Glitchtophertm No problem! I am planning to branch off from doing just episodes by system though. I'm planning a few smaller episodes in the series as well, so I can get them uploaded quicker (this PS2 one took months, and I have a lot of other really big ones in the works like XBOX, PS3, and 360).
There where 6 games that I would picked up.That Tintin game and that Ape (James bond like) and platformer that got forgotten when guerrilla games took over looked promising to me.
Although the PS2 has over 2000 games in its library, I’m still annoyed that every one of these didn’t get released.

I think this has to be my favorite list of cancelled games, it looks like there was a lot of quality games we missed out on!
Yeah, definitely some quality games here, Eddie. Johnny Whatever looks really interesting.
Yeah, those are all stand-out games form me too. Definitely some promising titles here! Thank you, I'll certainly try.
Is the lost vigilante 8 sequel on this list?the sequel to vigilante 8:2nd offrnse?
It would later get restarted though on xbox360 though as a remastered version now under the title vigilante 8:arcade.
No, not on the list I'm afraid. There are soooo many cancelled PS2 games.
wow so many amazing games that we will never get to play , so guttering , fantastic episode as always pete
Always sad making this series. Thanks, Ian!
Why does everything Stargate end up cancelled? Stargate SG1: The Alliance looks awesome, they would've sold a billion copies.
Life as a Stargate fan is tough :(
In an age of Netflix and amazon studios and the like, I’m amazed none of the developers are remaking and such for indie download stores.
Edit: Kickstarter. Forgot to mention Kickstarter
Indeed. I'm sure there are good reasons. There are a lot of retro cancelled games emerging, but perhaps that generation is a bit too advanced to make finishing a game financially viable for the indie scene.
You know you broke my heart with this video man this is so depressing all them good video games cancelled on the PS2 my favorite system
Sorry, James. It's always sad making these videos.
Now I want to play Asylum... 😂
😢
It had potential ngl
I've never been without a PS2.
Nice. Great console.
"many factors had to be considered with the physics like wind speed and direction, changing weather etc" you mean to tell me, that these people gave it a 5 for it's realism!?
Huh?
Nice video. Especially approve of the Ys music in the background. ;)
Thanks, Jeff. Good ear!
I did not expect to hear Ys 3 PS2 music in the video, you are the man!
Good ear!!!
never knew a stargate game was being made interesting
I wish that game was finished. Looks so good!
Excellent video. Is great to hear that you like Metallica's Master of Puppets and Hokuto no Ken. Are you into Rock/Metal or just a fan of that album?
Thanks, Federico. I don’t listen to metal nowadays, but was a huge fan as a teenager. I listen to all sorts these days but not much metal.
😢
@@onaretrotip don't worry Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee was only released for Gamecube and Xbox
I wish i could swap all of blast and phinix games for all of these awesome games
Hahaha if only!
Yes, I was going to say it sounds like The Lost!
Ooh, sounds good. Thanks for the recommendation!
Keep up the good work mate. Can you please now do either gamecube or wii or DS cancelled games because some of them fascinate me?
Thanks, I'll certainly try. Wii I have already done:
ua-cam.com/video/r4ZnyM_DNVU/v-deo.html
And I will be doing DS at some point soon.
A shame :(
Awesome list Pete! :-)
Thanks, Mark!
My guess is that 'Knights' looks too similar to: I -Ninja.
Possibly, yes.
Lol you using "jungle infiltration" from 007 nightfire as background music .. Nice ;)
Hell yes!
Project Dagger and Orchid looked pretty cool. The latter especially looks like my jam, really bums me out that it never got released.
Agreed! Orchid looks like something I definitely would have been interested in playing. 😢
This is one reason why i wont get rid of my PS2, the games it has already gives me those awesome gaming memories. I just dont feel the excitement as much with newer games.
Yeah, I agree with you entirely mate.
Great vid, really enjoyed it
Thanks, Dan!
Here are some more interesting cancelled PS2 titles (in alphabetical order):
D.i.R.T.: Origin Of The Species - Developed by Nu Generation Games for PS2 & PC, this 3rd person action shooter sees you control an all-girl monster hunting team. Enemies include everything from zombies to giant crabs. Game was supposed to be released in 2005/2006, but got delayed & finally PS2 version was cancelled for some reason. Game was finally released in 2009 for PC. Here's a trailer: ua-cam.com/video/wnXt5rod07E/v-deo.html
Fear Effect: Inferno - Developed by Kronos Digital Entertainment for PS2 only, the 3rd installment & a prequel to Fear Effect series, it tells the story how Hana & Rain met. Game was suppose to be released in 2003, but was cancelled, because of Kronos Digital Entertainment closure by Eidos Interactive. Trailer: ua-cam.com/video/aTHKXjePz-0/v-deo.html
Fighting Force 3 - Developed by Core Design for PS2 & Xbox, the 3rd installment in beat 'em up series, was suppose to be released in 2003/2004, but was cancelled because of Core Design closure by Eidos Interactive (again!). There's no trailer, but there's a mini-doc: ua-cam.com/video/2nMOJKdrhOk/v-deo.html
Galidor: Defenders Of The Outer Dimension - Developed by Asylum Entertainment for PS2, PC, Xbox & GBA (only GBA version was released) & based on LEGO toyline of the same name, it's a generic 3D platformer. To be released in 2002, game was cancelled by EA for unknown reasons. Trailer: ua-cam.com/video/WYeIvQ6j1YE/v-deo.html
George Romero's City Of The Dead - Developed by Kuju Entertainment for PS2, PC & XBox & set in Romero's Living Dead universe, it's a 1st person action survival horror video game, where you control horror make-up legend Tom Savini as he's trying to escape the city infested by zombies. To be released in 2005 as a tie-in to Romero's Land Of The Dead, game was cancelled for unknown reasons. Trailer: ua-cam.com/video/qTjU7BzwNek/v-deo.html
Mad Max: Asylum - Based on post-apocalyptic franchise created by director George Miller & producer Byron Kennedy.
👍
In my opinion, any video game that lets you play as Tom Savini is worth playing, or at least worth checking out.
Those games look really nice, especially Aquanox, but at least we can enjoy Aquanox on PC
Indeed we can.
I would personally love orchid because there aren't many games with female protagonists also I love namco games
Indeed!
Can you do Xbox 360 and Ps3 remember when Highlander the video game was supposed to come out i do because I reserved it and GameStop lol
I definitely will do both eventually, yes.
Fuck off xbox fanboy
@@gejamugamlatsoomanam7716 caaaalm down nigga
Also, at least Fist of the Northstar got the fantastic "Lost Paradise" on PS4.
Indeed!
is there going to be a part 2 of this Cancelled games i play sly cooper spyro jak and kingdom hearts and all
I doubt it mate.
Oh fuck yeah, thanks man. This video is incredible
Children maybe watching or reading tone the exitement down keep it cool🙄
@@nancyking-hoffman146 Naw, I'm not gonna stop swearin' because baby kids might get offended or upset.
Thanks, that's very kind. Glad you liked it!
@@nancyking-hoffman146 I actually swear quite often on the channel, Nancy, so it's not exactly kid-friendly.
Aliens: Colonial Marines was canceled on PS2, screenshots of the game where released but the game was never released. The title would later be taken by the PS3 game but the story & gameplay was not adapted.
Unfortunately the only available footage is shockingly poor.
should've thrown city of the dead (ps2) on, I'm still salty we didn't get that.
That one may well feature in the upcoming XBOX episode.
Loved all the cancelled games vids u done. Least fav was the Wii one though
Thanks! Still more to come.
Ice nine reminds me of black on ps2,and dead light it's like doom3 for x box very empress, some of the game's here look good
Yes, definitely some really promising games here!
Nice cancelled games series
Maybe banned games / lost games next?
Thanks! Yes, maybe one day.
That will probably be in the XBOX episode.
Asylum, Four Horsemen and Deadlands interested me the most, luckily Darkwatch is a similar western horror game that is fantastic (btw that was almost also cancelled btw, THANK GOD we got Darkwatch)
Not played that, I will check it out. Thanks!
If we get a ps2 classic I hope they add an unreleased ps2 game just like the cancelled starfox 2 on snes classic
Doubtful, but that would be great.
I remember really being really interested in 4 Horsemen from the GamePros I got, footage looks pretty decent, as well.
Yeah, definitely an interesting one!
100 bullets is one of the games i really wanted based off the comics. we got a trailer and that was it.
Yeah, that was a really interesting one. It definitely caught peoples' attention!
Asylum’s concept seemed to become a thing a few years later as Dementium the ward on DS
Hmm, interesting. Not heard of that!
@@onaretrotip One of the ds's hidden gems horrorwise next to the resident evil game on it,really good horror tbh.
Awesome game two 👍 dementium 1 and 2
I wonder if you’d be willing to do a video on playable cancelled games.
I doubt it to be honest. I prefer doing them system by system, but a lot of the episodes I've previously done have playable prototypes.
Good to know. I’m still happy to watch this series either way, I just thought I’d ask.
Yes, some good ones here for sure.
