@@onaretrotip I really loved both these videos, thank you. They made me realize how lucky I am to live only a few hours away from Galloping Ghost arcade. The gameplay in Segasonic Bros. vaguely reminds me of Primrose by Jason Rohrer, except Primrose is a turn-based puzzle game rather than a falling-block puzzle game.
A brilliant video, as always :) I feel that the games in this episode were definitely more interesting that those in the previous (no insult intended, it's just my personal taste!) _Segasonic Bros._ , _Hard Drivin's Airborne_ , _RIP Squad_ , _Ghost Lop_ , _Recalhorn_ , and _Beavis & Butthead_ are all games I'd like to try, as is _Slipstream_ - it looks brilliant, and I'm usually far from a fan of that (technological) genre of racing game; _Asylum_ also seems interesting, but far too slow and viewed though too small a "window".
Yeah, quite a few here that really appeal to me too, including Slipstream. Agree that Asylum has a very narrow playfield, but that would be full screen in a Tate arcade cabinet.
Yeah I meant that was late for DOS only games, most around that time were DOS and Windows. Considering DOS games were being released from the late 70s I’d say the last half of the 90s was late. The mid 90s was the golden age for DOS in my opinion though, so I agree!
_Hard Drivin' Airborne:_ "Still, it's an odd concept, and one that's perhaps a bit unnecessary" --- I take it you haven't played _'Rush 2049'_ then? ;) (the Dreamcast version, not the Arcade version. But the DC version is the version on _Midway Arcade Classics Vol.3)_ My man, if you ever get the chance, you should give it a shot (or the indie racer _'Distance,'_ which took a lot of inspiration from it). Unnecessary gliding + Arcade Racing = some REALLY fun times :) Anyways, another fantastic video! Glad you looked into _'Tenth Degree'_ and found it so interesting! Also, of course, glad you looked into everything else too, because you found a ton of interesting stuff I've never heard of once again! MAN - I can't believe no one's ever done _'Ghost Lop'_ before; adding movement and an almost _'Arkanoid'_ elements to _'Bust-A-Move'/'Puzzle Bobble'_ gameplay is so obvious in retrospect!
I have Rush 2049 on Dreamcast actually but never gave it much time. Maybe I'll give it another chance. Yeah, I loved that they added the Arkanoid style movement to Ghost Lop, and agree that it's weird that nobody had done that before. In fact, has it been done since?
lol, I was wondering that myself since there are so, SO many straight ripoffs of 'Bust-A-Move/Puzzle Bobble' nowadays thanks to stupid mobile games. But that's what they do - they just rip it off and don't bring any kind of innovation or changes to that formula (besides microtransactions). So I thought about it a bit, and I don't think there is! I think 'Ghost Lop' stands alone _to this day,_ as bizarre as that is. Crazy!

Once again, awesome work! I know what you mean about these being heart breaking in a way, I look upon them as being someone's work of art, and when they're lost for good it's rather like someone throwing a painting in the trash. But when games like Marble Maddness II and Beavis and Butthead wind up in the hands of a collector I take some satisfaction from that, even if I never get to play or see them in person at least I know they're being preserved.
@@onaretrotip The guys at Entertainment Sciences who made Bouncer must have been particularly devastated, by all accounts their game was GREAT, unique, way ahead of it's time and no doubt destined to be a success. Poor Atari. They had lots of ideas, just a good portion just never took good with the players. No wonder why they are just a name now, barely a shell of its former glory, if you want to give them that much credit.

It's always a shame to hear of a cancelled game from Treasure, there aren't many developers around who look to push the boundaries in the way that they do. A kart racer with boss battles and destructible obstacles is definitely something I'd like to see in the future. The Hard Drivin' sequel was interesting, as you say it's a bit of a strange concept but not so strange that they didn't mind using it for the recent Crew 2. I'm guessing time was the great healer for that slightly whacky idea, and it clearly makes more sense on an open road than it would in closed track races. The Beavis and Butthead game would've been nice to see, a scrolling beat em up would've been the perfect fit, especially coming after The Simpsons arcade game. Nicely shoehorned 'entertain us' gag at the end there! haha
Yeah, a real shame about Gun Beat. Looks like an interesting concept. Beavis & Butthead looks good too, definitely a Konami/Simpsons beat 'em up vibe there. Haha, had to get that joke in there somewhere.
I used to love playing Marble Madness back in the day, so it sucks hearing that a sequel was made and never released. It also sucks knowing that the complete game is out there with no ROM available.
Another one you can add to the list would be the unreleased "Savage Quest" Dreamcast Port - Think I am the only one who owns the canceled Arcade version. Which is "Savage Quest" version 2.1 - The game is way shorter but has added sounds and content.
I consider "War Gods", "Mace: The Dark Age" and "Bio F.R.E.A.K.S" Cousin Games to the Mortal Kombat franchises as they were all made by Midway, around the same time as MK4.
Really impressive having all of those being unreleased but where do i remember seeing in the past tenth degree??? @@onaretrotip It was a video game in development shown as a playable but not finished demo at GenCon one year. Your character was a Fighter, you move back and forth by joystick, forward also by joystick, and swung your sword via button. There is also a few other buttons which pulled down a menu where you can pick party actions in real time (monsters are still fighting you), and call up other party members to do things like cast spells or search for traps or lock pick open chests.

Haha thanks!
Doodoo doo doodoo doo!
We're the Sonic Bothers! And Puzzling's the game! Not like the others who just want the fame!
You'll meet Robotnik, The Badniks, Metal Sonic and the others! Cancelled like a mother you'll be hooked on the brothers!
Another Top video!... well put together and as always, a lot of time and effort must of gone into compiling the info behind the scenes!... we take our hats off to you..
The sonic game looked a bit poo! apart from that I would of liked to have given them all a blast, Played the Marble one on the Sega Mastersystem I think back in the day.
Thanks, guys! Yeah, I loved Marble Madness on the Mega Drive as a kid.
Wait wait wait wait, you go Arcade Club?! Often?!
Yeah, reasonably often seeing as I live just NW of London. I've been to the one in Bury about nine times so far. Twice this year!
So with Sister Sonic and SegaSonic Bros. cancelled, that pretty much proves the universe doesn't much care for Sonic having siblings.
Indeed.
*Sonic Underground theme plays*
Thanks man!
You're very welcome, Alexandre!
The original "tunnel" version of Dungeons And Dragons.
Huh?
@@onaretrotip It was a video game in development shown as a playable but not finished demo at GenCon one year. Your character was a Fighter, you move back and forth by joystick, forward also by joystick, and swung your sword via button. There is also a few other buttons which pulled down a menu where you can pick party actions in real time (monsters are still fighting you), and call up other party members to do things like cast spells or search for traps or lock pick open chests.
Tenth Degree looks so fun. :(
Doesn't it!
love cancelled games
Ditto!
I want Primal Rage II, Tenth Degree and Eye of Typhoon revived for the Switch!
Doesn't the design of Beavis and Butthead look a little Nickelodeon Rugrats-like?
I don't see it personally. Just looks like the Beavis & Butthead cartoon.
@@onaretrotip As for Tenth Degree it should go to Konami for revival.
Thank god someone on youtube understands that it prounounced brothers, not bros. Also, is Slipstream available on mame?
Amen to that, Matthew! Yes, it is indeed:

@@onaretrotip Thanks for that. I'll check it out.
21:42 Hilarious
LOL Had to.
Give me. CAPCOM ALL STARS. Beavis & Butthead Beat 'Em Up. The Act
Interesting mix of choices.
Just think of what would happen if all those game were actually released! We would have been swamped in mediocre Atari fighters ;) Good to see that some of the others are playable in one form or the other.
Haha very true, Erwin.
I would have liked to play Vicious Circle
You can play it on MAME:

@@onaretrotip Thanks. I honestly wish it was officially released, this build dose have some bugs. It would have been cool had everything been ironed out.
I'm so sad that the Beavis & Butthead Beat 'Em Up never saw an official release.
😢
Oooo I never knew about so many of these.
Good news!
❤❤❤ 😢We need these games either kickstarter, patreon, fan remakes
I played slipstream in Mexico.
Nice. Any good?
@@onaretrotip ir was really good, a little difficult the first time. I love the machine with the wheel and the stick. Also the effects for the time were amazing.
@@onaretrotip It was really good, I remember seeing a lot of people failing in the game, but there were some gamers that were amazing and got a good grip of the game, even able to maintain the turbo for most of the race.
30:01 Doesn't look like a Natasha to me.
What is MAME?
Multi Arcade Machine Emulator. It emulates various arcade boards and lets you play ROMs of arcade games. It's amazing!
