LoreWarrior Online - The Archer

- The ancient Archer has been a mainstay of Succession War armies for centuries now. It has seen the rise and fall of the Star League, the many Succession Wars that followed and now into the Clan Invasion anew.
The Archer has been known as a reliable LRM support machine that is capable of launching many salvo's of missiles before requiring rearming, making it a popular choice for commanders in the attack and defend role. It's support weapons make it difficult to approach in close quarters combat for smaller 'mechs and other heavy and assault 'mechs have to contend with the 'mechs battlefists.
The downsides are it's familiarity with every military. The age of the design means it rarely brings anything new to the field and even with the recent lostech updates it still feels like the Archer of old. Heat management is still a problem for pilots who fire both the lasers and missiles at the same time, but most experienced pilots are aware enough to know when to fire everything and when to use caution. - Ігри
I enjoy all of Critical Rocket videos
The Archer is a splendid Mech, simple in concept yet very effective. The ARC-4M 3050 version is one of my favourite Mechs in the game that addresses all the key shortcomings of the original (improved missile damage, heat dissipation, ammo bin protection) with no compromises (XL engine, excessive C-bill cost). Thanks for the lore as always!
+leakycheese Glad you like it, have fun :)
How could you not mention JAMIE WOLF?
+Elliot Jenner Because he isn't mentioned in TRO 3025. You have to remember I am reading verbatim the text from that book from like 1988 or whatever it was.
this mech embodies the saying "old dog new tricks" dont it?
+SH4D0W Pretty much. It's a great 'mech to ride in.
The funny thing is, pre-archer, I'm one of only a handful of people that run narc. Post-archer, I notice every 2nd game someone's spamming narcs everywhere.
Guess these people will soon learn narcing everything in sight is not the best way to use the narc.
+SQW0 I think it's also because one or two of the variants of the archer come with NARC so people are using it a little more too.
Does the archer come with narc distance quirk like the raven-3L? I've been paying attention and most archers are not suicidal enough to get to 450m whereas I'm seeing more raven-3Ls sporting narcs instead of dual LLs build.
+SQW0 Don't think it does, but then I rarely use quirks to build 'mechs and thus never check them.
I've never actually seen a mech game where you could use the hands an do real close conbat. I swear it's there to troll you.
+VectorGhost haha true not a single mechwarrior game has ever had real melee combat.
Critical Rocket why do they do that. its like the biggest cock tease. id love to punch the shit of mechs
VectorGhost
No idea, they could print money by advertising a 'mech combat game with pacific rim style fist fights :)
Critical Rocket ahahaha, i bet we will finally see the fists work in the turnbase one
VectorGhost
Maybe, it's still very early days for that. I do hope they allow for some Atlas fisticuffs though :)
