  • Here's the next class 69 which appears to be largely complete and into testing. See 69013 (ex 56312) shuttling around the depot as the Electromotive team put the loco through it's paces before it heads off back indoors. Note the workflow document pinned to the side of the loco!
Also seen onsite are long term residents 60014, 56081 and 56303 plus demic 66048.
66781 which was recently named Ratcliffe Power Station is also on depot and seen next to the loadbank.

It's excellent what GBRF are doing, but they should keep the previous name of the loco (56312).

They've given the Grids a new lease of life, with pretty much the best pre-draconian emmissions standards diesel engine fitted. It goes to show that you don't always have to buy new, and often recycling something that already exists will do the job.

They are going to experiment with a Caterpillar C-175 as the 710 is 4 inches too wide to fit in the mounts of the original and too tall to go inside the Class 60 hood. But the C-175 will fit with room to spare. The GE 7FDL16 would fit though as the MB275T is based on the GE FDL power unit from 1959-1968.

Two quick questions. First, has anyone heard anything regarding the livery for 013? Second, at 6:05, is that a cab from EMU/DMU? I'm thinking either an Electrostar or a Turbostar.

Well, apparently fitting a 66 motor into them isn't a option, which is a huge shame. Such a waste of a good loco. But at the end of the day, it's hard business case decisions that dictate these things, nit the wishes of us enthusiasts.
