- Wow! See the unique site of Class 89 'Badger' 89001 headed back out onto the mainlines after a long time away! The loco is seen headed to Crewe to be managed ongoing by the fantastic Locomotive Services team after a significant level of work completed by UKRL at Loughborough.
See the loco in the yard awaiting it's escort back to Crewe.. Watch as the class 37 exits the mainline and makes its way through the car park at Brush before returning back with the Badger in convoy.
Also seen prior to this are incredibly smart looking pair of 57306 and 57310 escorting 92043 into UKRL for GBRf.
If you're a fan of my videos and you just want to say 'Thanks'.. You can buy me a coffee and support my channel at the following link - www.buymeacoff...
Hope you enjoy the video! This one was an absolute treat to capture!

That is a bloody cracking video. Really impressed with how close up you were able to get to the moves through the carpark - you should be pleased with that result!!
Thanks very much - Glad you liked it 👍
@@trainsplanes no problem at all, well deserved :)
Brilliant seeing 89 001 on the move again I was lucky enough to test running and drive the first passenger service from King’s Cross to Peterborough back in the 80s
Reminds me of Weymouth Quay! Always one that parked over the line ? No surprises here!
Just imagine that little lot running down George Street Croydon!
That film was extraordinarily well made, with interest spots on laid up locos, no unnecessary waiting for road clears, and excellent close up work. A joy to watch! I trust that machine will soon be pounding up the WCML at 180 km/h (it was of course made for the ECML, but no matter).
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
125mph if it gets back to an ECML running rather than 110mph.
I love the Badger, I've only ever caught a glimpse of it on Railcam.
What a fantastic video, completely envious!
used to see the “Brush” building every time we were waiting fir a train at Lboro.. didn’t know it had a rail link.. wow!
I was at Crewe today and I saw it arrive. I was not expecting to see an 89 today!
Awesome video. Big respect and Humungously HUGE thanks yous to EVERYONE involved in getting 89 001 back on the main line. Awesome job.
Brush must have been an amazing place back in the day. It looks massive
Very lovely and tidy machines.
Super video of workings very much out of the ordinary. Thanks for filming and uploading
the badger is on the move! the last time I seen 89001 it was dumped in Birmingham at soho dmu depot sadly! Good video as always 🥰
If I remember correctly they were using the tools at the Soho to test different parts of it
@@averagekerbalpilot322 I seen it there on 8th febuary 2021 I passed it on the train coming into Birmingham new street it was hiding in a corner 1st time I've seen it in many years!
Something melancholy about seeing those 60s sitting silent just yards from where they were built
They even have sad faces!
60's were fitted out at Brush....but the bodyshells was built in Wakefield, hence why they've lasted so well!
Shades of Weymouth Quay Tramway
Thanks for a great video awesome sas to see the 60s like that love the gbrf livery
I wish I could 'like' this video more than once...
Thanks Tim 🙏👍
Awsome,,,sad though to see the 60s,just laying their,
Cheers for posting, nice looking traction on this video. Would be night to see 89 001 back on the ECML in the future.
Amazing captures; thanks for sharing 🙂
Great video 👍 A beautiful sight. Never seen the Badger before in person. Maybe soon ill see it. Shame only one was built.
Still a sad sight seeing the 60s sit there. Its the 73 i feel bad for, love those things shame its sitting there without wheels or bogies.
Im guessing the badger wont be on a Railtour until 2025.
Keep up the good work 👍
37: happily negotiates very tight curve with minimum fuss
every other engine: NAILS ON CHALKBOARD
back in the day my mother went to London for a day out and said she saw a Loco outside Loughborough. I asked her if she could remember what it looked like and she said “ Not really but it was named Falcon” Since scraped a long time ago.
Like a strange gricer's dream. Very arty, great stuff! 👍
I loved the 89 wuen it came out originally as the forerunner for The east coast fleet
Saw if 88/89 at Doncaster bringing a charter from London for mallard forward .
91003 was sat in bay platform
Hopefully another chance to see it on the ECML soon 🤞🙏
@@trainsplanes hopefully. I rode it Peterborough to Doncaster on GNER during its second life
Thank god another dominant piece of traction is back on the move
Fantastic video seeing 89001 out again after a very long time away wonder if she might become operational one day also feel sorry the 60s being dumped too wonder if they might fixed up one day
She is becoming operational mate shes been under rstoration for the past i duno how many years 😂😂
Great content, so interesting to see footage of movements within the complex
'Gis a job'. The bloke in the orange high Viz please. 😂😅. Great video
I’ve pre-ordered a model of 89001 in GNER blue with white lettering from Accurascale. Delivery is expected in mid-February next year, which will make for a nice belated Birthday present for myself (I was born on 6 February 1968).
Excellent video
Ah the badger is back 😮love to be halled by it wonderful
The chance will come soon 👍
Excellent video as always 👍
Great video, but it seems somewhat surreal! If you'd asked me in 1986 whether I'd see a mainline registered class 37 in BR green towing Avocet along a road 2024, I'd have said you'd eaten the wrong mushrooms for breakfast ;)
The class 37 is the best loco ever built in my opinion
As I recall the class 91s which were scrapped their parts were used to fix this beaut there’s another class 91 in storage too just incase of breakdowns as spare parts
I’m not quite sure how many, if any GEC parts would be applicable to a Brush locomotive.
Class 91 has body mounted traction motors with drive shafts - 89001 has bogie mounted traction motors - not sure how interchangeable parts are/ were
Great coverage Rob. Thought you might of gone to the works for the exit on the main line. 89001 does look superb 👌 Thanks for sharing the experience
Thanks mate - An enjoyable one to capture 👍
"Avocet", the one and only!
Thank you for it
Well bloody done indeed
Bravo cameraman
used to go to bounds green to see that .. and the 91 testing ... mmm those were the days !!!!!!!
Dont get to see a move like this anymore, it reminds me of Trafford Park years ago
Thank you for sharing. 😊
Great video. Shocking to see the UKRL guys using incorrect hand signals though, and worse to see the driver acknowledging them.
The class 37 really looks menacing when seen from ground level !!
This is absolutely mental seeing it go after all this time
Thanks for an excellent report.
I remember Making Tracks selling one of these for Train Simulator and raising funds to save the real life version. That must've been almost 20 years ago now!
Really nice captures. I have ordered the model from Accurascale
The badger were used for small towns before the sprinter classes released.
Another cracking video well done great camera work as usual I am really enjoying your lovely videos and camera work keep your lovely camera work up I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on UA-cam bye for now Philip
Thanks Philip 👍
Such a capable, powerful loco; great to see it fixed and hopefully its electronics will be more reliable.
It would have been better to have a `slab end' to be more aerodynamic against a carriage, like the 91.
5:30 "I'm sure these yellow lines next to these railway track thingies don't apply to me!"
0:04 Could do with some grease on the wheel flanges! 😮
That was brilliant ,I wonder what is going happen to the class 60s .
YIPPE! 🥳
89001 only has a 5 year contract with LSL for railtours, then no-one knows what will happen to it.
I would hope someone else could use it after railto9urs, would suck to see it sat around doing nowt again
Let’s enjoy it in use over the near term for now 👍
@@trainsplanes yeah, can't wait
@@trainsplanes When is its first expected loaded test run or railtour? 🤔
Love the 37, weren't some of them nicknamed "Slugs"? Either way, I will never forget getting on a Regional Railways Class 37 (with a full diagram of MK3 TSO and BKO) and sitting in the first carriage hearing the good ole engine roaring to life leaving NWP to CDF.
To say brush works was closing down for good a few months ago it seems to be doing well n getting a lot of work coming thru, n the 33 has been there for a good 12 months now if not more
UKRL has taken over some of the ex-Brush shops.
Absolutely brilliant catch. How on earth did you get to hear about this movement?
It was filed in the last 24 hours so visible for a short period in advance.
@@trainsplanes Well I really enjoyed it and I thank you very much for posting this unique video.
Just checked this site on google earth. It is so bizarre that those trains in the yard off to the left are on tracks not even connected to the main line. I’m wondering how they are going to move them if necessary.
Sad to see all the tugs and 92s at their birthplace looking forlorn
Indeed a shame 🥲
Superb again. What is happening to the Class 60s?
Excellent piece of footage - well done! So good to see the Class 89 out and moving again. I haven't seen her move since I caught 89001 arriving/departing KX on IC workings many years ago. As a point of interest, as the locos departed the yard, the name on the side of the building was "Wabtec Faiveley", is that any connection to the Stone Faiveley who manufactured the pantographs for many of the early AL1 - 6 class AC locos? Thanks for editing and sharing, much appreciated
Great footage there,, good to see a withdrawn loco back on the metals. What's the latest on all those 60s?
No change for the last 2 years - Someone is going to need a big cheque book to save them 🤞
OK stupid question time.. ready for this? Zebra crossing across the tracks... does the loco need to stop😂. Great video btw
My neighbour drives a Wabtec van. We live in Derby.
Recall when this was built it was a superior loco to the 91s?
5"41". That yellow line's there for a reason.
Not when you're special!!
I’ve helped bounce more than one car off the rails at Weymouth Harbour to let the train through
I miss the class 58 and class 60
Naughty!
Strange, I was only thinking of this locomotive earlier today and, now here we are watching her move to locomotive services limited at Crewe to bring her back to the main line, just out of curiosity how much work needs to be done before her return?
Not too much more to be done I believe - Hopefully LSL will have it out before the end of the year on some test runs. 🙏👍
That hi-vis jacket could do with a wash.
Glad I wasn’t there, my ears wouldn’t have handled that screeching
It should come visit my place work at drc
Excellent video, three nicely turned out GBRF locos.
Great shots from the car park, especially the Badger.
Are the Class 60s there to be scrapped, or are they doing the syeam conversion on them?
whats the plan with all the class 90s?
Oh, I know this is the UK.
Correct 👍
Who’s idea was it to lay first radius curves around the building? 😂
👍
Well we'll, how DO you do it?? Do you know why the 92 was being escorted into Wabtec?
Yep - Just routine maintenance 👍
@@trainsplaneswhat an amazing awesome video it's fantastic news that the Badger 89001 is going to return to the mainline again something to be honest I thought wouldn't happen it's amazing that the unique 89001 is going to return to mainline service again 👍
Excellent video. Are the 60s, 92s & 73 will be scrapped or refurbished. Thank you.
Thanks - Might need a miracle or 2 to see any of those other locos working again however you never know 🤞🙏
What’s up with the class 92s 045 and 040
They’re for spares only now.. They’ve been stripped previously.
@@trainsplanes wow wouldn’t expect a 92 to be a scrap engine still feel like they are new to me
Great video. Not just seeing Badger, and other great locos, but the way they move through the yard/ car park. Is this a public place,or did you need special permission?
Hi Phil, There’s a couple of places you can stand without being on private property- Hard to explain in words here so I’ll let you know where to go next time I see you 👍
Anyone know what's happing to 37 423 that's sticking out of the end of the building?
Its in for bogie/wheel sets repairs I believe 👍
@@trainsplanes thanks, nice video by the way.
So I was walking along the carpark at work, minding my own business and chatting away on my walkie-talkie, when I suddenly discovered that I was being followed by a railway engine. It does look surreal though.
ATTACK TRAINS ATTACKK😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Brush still going there or has it shut down
UKRL operate out of the former Brush facility nowadays 👍
what does LSL stand for
That’s Locomotive Services Ltd 👍
@@trainsplanesa hoskin reform doner company
Great video thanks. Did you require special permission for this?
No - It’s accessible provided your polite and stay out of the way 👍
@trainsplanes
That's good then. Not like Network Rail then there. I might go sometime when moment is due. Thanks 👍
Has the Class 89 already gone ? Do you know what headcode it moved on ?
Yep - 0Z38 back to Crewe H.S. 👍
Seeing this many abandoned class 60 and 92 locomotives makes me mad
But does it actually work?
Shouldn’t have long to wait to find out 🤞👍
I don't think the driver needs such careful guidance especially from the gentleman in the back to front baseball cap walking close to the tracks .. What I sight though
Great video. Sad to see the state of all they British built 60s sitting in some terrible states as all these freight companies are buying in foreign built locos and rolling stock. I wonder if theyll ever build modern locos in Britain again.
All the foreign companies haven’t bought anything, the tax payer provided them!
That’s how a Tory organised private railway runs. Private companies get paid to do the work and take the profits while the UK taxpayer provides the rolling stock. Hence why so many British built locos are scrapped or in storage.
@@stevenmoran4060 Thanks for the reply.
Why Does The 89 Have Ugly Headlights Tho, I Mean, I Think The Headlights Need A Rework Or Something
5:33 lol you can’t park there love!
Its a disgrace, whrn they are brining back 50 year old 56's, when all those class 60's are laid up.
???london
Daft woman leaving her little car in the way hwhaha
To an uneducated viewer.......can I ask what was going on?
It was leaving UKRL at the old Brush Works after maintenance. It’s now at LSL in Crewe with test runs likely at some point in the near future 👍
