    In an era of clickbait & switch ads, it is really remarkable to have a pro create a free video series to help us out. Thank you Mr. Harrington, you'll always be a favorite of mine.

    Boy, I absolutely love Paddy's tips. Man is a godsend.
    Firstly, nothing I've put in practice from his tips has failed me. Why would it? If you can't make a multiple Major winner's advice work, the problem is you, 100%.
    Secondly, he is a spectacular teacher. Anyone with a golf club can make youtube tutorials. Saying what to do, and not do, is easy and cheap. It costs nothing. Freedom of speech means you don't even have to be right. You can make up, regurgitate, parrot off a spiel, or straight up plagiarise someone else.
    Being able to explain and clearly demonstrate the finer points, however, is not fakeable. You know the finer points, because you were trained your whole life. You played your whole life. You achieved your whole life. That's life experience. Those words can only be conveyed this way by someone who knows the subject matter in and out.
    And thirdly, knowing it is great. There are a bunch of pros who know it. But being able make that info accessible to rank amateurs who play a whole world of different golf, and are very likely to be too far removed from the level of golf being pitched, is a dying art. It's true teacher stuff.
    Thanks Mr Harrington for your unbelievable generosity in providing these amazing lessons. I hope everyone realises how privileged we are to be coached by a true great of the game.

    Absolutely Amazing teacher!! Hearing from a proven pro/champion gives me the confidence to stick with what he's teaching but NOBODY does a better job in my opinion of breaking down EVERY little detail WITH all the diff. feels that should be going on during the swing!! Which is something that has had a MASSIVE effect for me as I thought i was doing a pretty good job of imulating what i was seeing from other teachers swing lessons but Paddy informing us of what should be felt at all point of the swing is AWESOME!!

      Or it also works with SW if you put it way back in stance and clip ball. Like Paul Azinger did. Keep weight more back at setup. No spin very high shots! Try it.

    At address, where are your hands relative to the ball? Does the shaft point at your left hip for each club, or are you hands even with the ball? Do you see the same number of knuckles on your left hand with every club?

    It’s a great tip paddy. Especially on the lob wedge and it’s ball position. I have a tendency to put back in my stance but moving forward is what I need to do. Do you have tips on 50-100 yard shots and their technique?

    • @Dreyno
      @Dreyno 2 роки тому

      I think a lot of people do that. Put it back in the stance and take a massive divot. When it works it looks spectacular but how often is that?
      Just skim it off the grass and it’s far more consistent.

  • @TeddyCavachon
    @TeddyCavachon 2 роки тому

    I find beginners grasp how a golf swing should work and feel quicker by first posing them with proper grip exactly how a pro looks as the ball releases off the face of the club. That gives their conscious brain a clue what the goal of the exercise and gives them criteria for success. The difference when they then start at static address and then swing the club up and back down is amazing compared to how they had been swinging based on how they thought a swing should work.
    The actions beginners fail to understand and execute are the lateral shifting of the hips and the side bending which needs to occur in the downswing. Posing them in the post impact ball release position forces them to do both without really realizing it until they go back up to a static address stance and then back to impact a few times. Also having them toss balls sidearm at the ground just in front of them is another good way to get their thinking and reflexive brains on the same page.

    You should do a video on how you are still creating so much speed at 50 and killing the champions tour, I lost 30 yards of carry between 25 and 50!

    • @Dreyno
      @Dreyno 2 роки тому

      You have to compensate for youthful vigour with technique. Your technique was probably a bit off but you could smash it down the fairway as a younger man. Now that’s not an option, you have to refine the swing to get extra yards back. Maybe. But usually a safe guess.

      He already explained it from his speed video. Work on speed once a week. If you work on it every day it will go down hill.

    Waiting years to here a tour player talk in detail about the golf swing
    Padraig can you talk about the right arm coming down to the right side
    having that right side connection,
    You never talked about it in the HOW TO CLEAR YOUR HIPS/PELVIS

    Dude, I was taught to literally adopt a squat posture. Since I practiced this tip, the pain I was constantly experiencing on my hip is subsided.

    • @Dreyno
      @Dreyno 2 роки тому +2

      I always stood like he shows in this video. Saw some people with their knees bent and found various people recommending it so tried it assuming I was doing it wrong. I found it uncomfortable, harder to be consistent and just “wrong”.
      I’ve found a fairly safe rule of thumb. If it doesn’t look like Jack Nicklaus, Sam Snead, Seve Ballesteros, Tom Watson or Ben Hogan, it’s probably wrong.

    This is such an amazing channel, thanks for taking the time to set it up! Such valuable insights for the handicap golfer. Re the set up, do you advocate 50 50 weight distribution or 55 45? I have been tinkering with stack and tilt idea and keeping weight on front foot as I have been blocking left recently, seems to give me a better path? Just wondered what your thoughts were re S + T as an option?

  • @ruatoomey9107

    Quality information again Padraig. I think tee boxes and doglegs affect us amateurs with the set up. I for 1 always play the dogleg left or right with a fade on one and try draw on the other which leads to inconsistency. Thanks for your help
