  • ** The window was ordered and installed back in the tractor, and it just so happens to work out that the grain auger is also fixed and ready to move back home..
    ** The move went well actually, but I flinched everytime I met someone on the highway! 😂

    Just apply a clear foil like a carvwindow tint in the inside, it will still crack easy, but glass will not gonna fly into you next time

    You're brave man Mike, you wouldn't catch me doing 50+k on the UK roads with an auger that long or wide. As for the front window, ask Fendt to put you a laminated one in, they should it looks like you spend enough with them! I think all front screens a laminated over in UK, however I might be wrong about that.

    Might could do a window tint on the windshield, the layer of vinyl would at least slow down the glass breaking, maybe not shatter in your face but drop to the floor. They make clear tint that blocks UV, which would help with heat in the summer as well

    Mike, there is a clear UV material made by 3m I believe that you might be able to have done. It’s a clear sheet product that applied like tint would on windows. That might minimize the glass chards in event that happens again. Just my 2 cents

    I've been an advocate for laminated windshields and back windows for tractors and other equipment for years. I've lost two tractor windshields like Mike did and several back windows over the years. I once had a rock thrown by a truck go through the cab door window and out the back window. My biggest gripe is the Gators. Those things can go 45 mph and they don't have a laminated windshield!

    Just in case you didn't see my comment on the other video...
    The flighting for 2021 is a significant improvement. Also make sure the tractor is running at 1000rpm (you guys are probably doing this, but it is amazing how much this impacts gearbox maintenance.)

    • @mikemitchell2554
      @mikemitchell2554  3 роки тому

    • @johnsanders2798
      @johnsanders2798 3 роки тому +2

      @@mikemitchell2554 The gearboxes on all the augers are the same and purchased from the same supplier.
      We worked with Farm King on the first 16" auger. It was built initially with a 540 shaft and chain drive. The shaft and the chain drive could not handle the load.
      The supplier came and measured the auger so the gearbox would align with the existing shafts. The ratio of the gearbox was designed for 1000rpm input so as to allow for affordable pto shafts. All augers that use these gearboxes should run at 1000rpm.
      This will also help with your flighting but it won't eliminate all problems. The 2021 flighting (which can be put in your existing auger) is a significant upgrade. (Farm King found out farmers were using large 4 track tractors on the auger at harvest)
      Just for your interest...

    Fendt was a German company before it was taken over by AGCO, so I'm really surprised your 720 had just a tempered windscreen and not a laminated.
    Usualy all German /European vehicles have laminated windscreens by default, cause Germany and Europe habe very high and strict safety standards because of the danger from an exploding windscreens.
    But Fendt was bought by the US company AGCO. They maybe changed European/German safety standards for the North American / Canadian Market.
    I'm glad you didn't got say serious injuries when the windscreen exploded.
    I'm also surprised you have Fendt tractors and combines.

    Hey Mike I’ve found 3M Safety film works great.. it kind of expensive at around $230-$240 a roll but for a $2K windshield it’s worth the investment

    Mike you could get a really high % window tint, it might stop the glass spreading so much and wont effect how you see out. Just thought of it

    Ya we’re crazy gravel road drivers up here by Saskatoon lol. No one slows down, I swear people speed up when they see another vehicle or equipment, and they definitely don’t pull over to give you room.

    You can put a clear epoxy on your side of the glass so if it shatters it will act like auto glass

    Any window tint on the inside will hep it. Even just a light tint so you can still see good at night.

    Put some window tent on it to keep it together from all them little bits from coming in on you.it don't have to be dark tent.

    Mike buenos días me gustan mucho tus videos tan solo por la forma natural como los haces, y el gran trabajo que realizan, y sin poses de youtuber, tengo una pregunta cada que mueves tus tractores y todo el equipo veo que recorren grandes distancias, que no sufren mucho desgaste porque son echos para trabajos lentos, no seria mas fácil y económico moverlos en plataformas, tu tienes todo lo necesario, perdón por la pregunta pero es una duda que tengo.
