    A tip for when doing wheel bearings (especially heavy duty bearings that handle a lot of weight) put some gear oil in between the bearings in the bottom of the hub (before installing the outer bearing make a dam of grease at the bottom to hold the oil) it helps keep the grease flowing to the bearings instead of most of it sticking to the hub.
    It works well I learned this doing maintenance on cane hauling equipment here in Australia, changing the grease on the two 10 tonne ( 4t weight and holds 10t) and one 14 tonne (9.5t weight and holds 14t) cane bins towed by tractors. I operated the 14t bin for 5 seasons (season lasts for 5-6 months straight a year) and I've only changed the bearings once for the wheels and they were changed 2 years before I started with the owner of the equipment.

Also, since it's simple trans it could be run by tractor

      @nathanschnoor1884 3 роки тому +1

      The drill is actually fully supported by all its wheels and why its considered to have a “floating hitch”. The jack only has to support a couple hundred pounds since it pivots on the main frame and why it only needs a light duty jack. Also in this case a hydraulic jack would add another circuit to an already full hydraulic system for most tractors to handle.

    Random question cause I'm completely amazed by the sheer size of basically everything (machinery, fields etc.): how far do you guys usually have to drive to get to the field you will cultivate, harvest and so on?

      Between 0 - 80 miles give or take ...most around 0- 35 miles.. Driving is just second nature

    Hey Mike, from a fellow Mike myself, I have a question. Is the farm a family farm or one of those communal farm group things? And yes I agree, get as much fertilizer in your eyes as possible. Something about me and getting stuff in my eyes. It never, ever fails... I try so hard to keep my eyes out of the line of fire and always wear safety glasses or goggles yet stuff always ends up in my eyes... I was welding once, slightly out of position, with a helmet on and safety glasses but somehow a piece of spatter slag ended up in my eye... I had to go to the eye doctor and get my eye scraped... Terrible and would not recommend.

    Use a piece of emery cloth to get the fertilizer off.

    The residual on seed tubes you try to dislodge, isn’t that actually seed colorant for rhizome seed protection for early planting. Mike where are your pliers.....

    The jack will be good as new if you just soak it in WD40 or some other thin oil. What I don´t get is why you don´t have a hydraulic hitch, or some sort of self-centering coupler for your equipment? This tow bar is about 500 years old... Do you have any options when you order new stuff?
    Jacking up that bogie should be no sweat. Jack up the blown side, put a wedge in the other. Or if you need to remove the bogie, just place the jack on the front or rear lip that the bolt mounts to. I don´t see a problem with this.

    Mike, so did you lose a different tractor? The case quad replaced the fendt last year, so I guess I’m wondering why you’re running the fendt, or wondering about your tractor situation. Thanks!
