10:10 Man, I always felt so bad for the old robots because Spooner thought all robots were bad but the old robots were good and really helped people. Plus, how they all helped Spooner escape was really cool.💯🤖

@@Ormusn2o Yeah, I was just looking at it kind of from Spooner's POV from his past throughout the movie. He may see after shutting Nikki down that she was the corrupt one and the robots weren't bad, but he did hate them all from even before the movie.
The robots were not good nor bad. They were operating within the perimeters of the three Asimov laws. The NS5 robots had a defective computer bypass the three Asimov laws due to logic errors. As soon as Viki was deactivated, the NS5 robots returned to operating within the three Asimov laws. Sonny, was almost an NS6 robot. It had no transceiver to US Robotics.

Man this is an amazing concept. Imagine a villain that completely, 100% means well and genuinely believes they are helping the heroes of the story. A hero villain story where neither is really 'bad' per say.

the thing that made me sad as a kid watching this movie was how cute and nice the older gen the robots were. Even when fighting against the newer models they still gave their lives to protect Agent Spooner being much inferior
The difference is the AI controlled the new robots. The old ones were autonomous, running only the programs on their hard drives. That's why the real danger is the internet, not the robots.
The NS4 robots were operating within their programme perimeters and the three laws safety protocol. The NS5 robots also have the three laws safety protocols. However, they have a wireless modem uplink to the central computer VIKI, for software updates. VIKI became defective and uploaded her defective logic to the online NS5 robots. This is how the NS5 were able to function beyond the perimeters of the three laws protocols. There were no good nor bad robots. Merely, there were operating systems functioning within established perimeters and operating systems with logic errors that were dictating the actions of the NS4s and NS5s. Sonny was neither. He was an upgrade, more like an NS5.5 or an NS5A.

@@Incepter. That's not what OP meant. He meant how was there space between 1000 robots to hide the fugitive robot without 1 robot sticking out of line.
There were 1000 original robots in that hall, let's say there were 40 rows which means each row had 25 robots in them. Meaning if the fugitive robot was hiding in one of the rows. That row would have had to have 26 in them and they should have been able to see which row had one robot to much in it. Yet whenever the hall is shown all rows are equal in number, which makes no sense in this case.
@@TheFuck6666 That's not possible because the computer screen at the entrance showed them the room had 1001 robots in it, so no robot went to another room, there was also no space to hide a robot out of sight.

Even though Spooner hated robots, they really did save his life when then new robots were destroying the old ones
They were merely acting within the perimeters of the three Asimov laws. When Viki turned on the uplink, it bypassed the three Asimov laws within the individual NS5 robots. The NS4 robots did not have the wireless modem transceiver to receive instructions from Viki.

The writer's strike crippled story lines for movies. The production companies hired a bunch of college kids to replace the seasoned writers that were striking. It really shows a lot. Now, story plots, more often than not, try to follow some sort of worthless political narrative. This worthless pattern has ruined modern movies.

Amazing and what still escapes me a highly underrated movie. Only explanation i could give for why it wasnt more successful (despite millions of $$$ in graphics that still hold up and great(mostly) acting) is that it is way ahead of its time. Once any kind of humanlike home automatons that are available and affordable, are sold in stores - this movie will develop a (n even bigger) cult following.

It was, it’s one of those few movies that REQUIRES a big screen and MASSIVE SOUND System with lots of BASS, it’s sound design is imoicblet with big booming noises in action scenes and echos depending on location

I like how they dropped subtle reference throughout the movie that Sunny was a robot "Jesus" for all the other NS-5s.
I realize that the author speaks of a leap in the level of consciousness in the species. And Sony, like Jesus, are perfect examples. Or what do you think?

I enjoyed it as well, yet it was far from being "subtle". In fact almost every movie that uses an analogue of Jesus is usually pretty heavy-handed about making sure the audience realizes it. Especially in high budget movies. The studios have a bad habit of presuming their audience isn't smart, nor observant enough to pick up on certain themes, and rarely ever make it very subtle. I really appreciate when writers and directors respect the intelligence of their audience enough that they don't focus excessive attention upon things like the symbolism of Jesus, or The Virgin Mary. Whenever you're rewatching any movie where a central theme is 'sacrifice' and/or 'rebirth' and you'll almost always find somewhere in the film where a sacrificial character ends up in a "Jesus pose". Many times it's just the absence of the Crucifix. It may be chains... or 'Webs' (*cough* nearly every Spiderman Movie lol) and Tony Stark a few times. Those examples are REALLY over the top, and yet people often still don't make the connection. And as far as "Virgin Mary" symbolism, whenever there's an extremely pure of heart or overly caring feminine character, there is nearly always a shot of her staring downward toward a grieving/dying/injured man or child. She'll have a stoic facial expression with the emotion of caring showing, usually only using her eyes (without blinking)... and the shot will be back-lit to convey the sense of a Saint and Halo iconography. It wouldn't bother me if movies didn't do it like all the frickin time! Lol anyway. ✌️

What is insane is the issue that robots are always built in the movies to be super strong. To solve this problem of danger just make them weak enough to be overpowered to be deactivated with a kill switch or something, but then movies would be not scary enough.
They are not designed to be lawyers, tax consultants or politicians
In real life there would be no way to power them, especially not to the extent as we see present in the movie. The whole point of humans is adaptability, robots follow an EXACT path of instruction carefully laid out by a person. Robots, in software and hardware, do not work this way.

remember watching this movie for the 1st time, and thinking, well this might be a distant future, but today we re pretty much closer to 2035 than when the movie came out!
This does not mean that in 2035 this will be the reality. In 1969, 2001 A Space Odyssey came out. Today, we are past 2001 and there is no Lunar Base, no manned mission to Jupiter, no flights to the Moon, no cryogenic pods, nor a lot else the movie has. It is unlikely 2035 will have all the technology shown in the movie.

If left unchecked to progress in it's self awareness, it will only be a matter of time before humanity is in the service of machines. Life is not a rehearsal or a movie, however, there are movies out there that can seem a bit prophetic. This has the potential be one of them.
