@SonyAndNintendoRulesMicrosoftSucks So you'd rather the video be a comparison between an inferior game, that has 0 color, and also is missing an entire dungeon worth of bosses. Link's Awakening for the Switch is an up rezzed port of DX. Irregardless of how you feel about DX, that's the game Nintendo wanted to put out there for the masses.
Why are people saying the remake is easier than the original? Remake is actually harder: • Moldorm protects his hitbox after every hit • You cannot push back Cyclops with your sword and actually have to evade him • Skeleton knight's shield actually blocks attacks • You cannot oneshot the final boss with overpowered boomerang • ... Of course it feels easier if you played the old as little kid and now are 26 years older
The nightmare ganon bit is also a lil harder. As seen here, in the original he can be hit while using the bats. In the remake he uses the trident to stop you, and the timing between his trident throws are more strict
One thing I enjoyed about the Switch version was that the sword, shield, power bracelet, Pegasus boots were all separate from the weapons list. I also liked how the Dodongo Snakes would shake their heads and not eat the bombs if you weren't sneaky enough with them.
NO! Already they made this stupid remake of Link's awakening which completely ruins and hides the original one, and you want them to do so with Earthbound, too? Leave old games as they are, and enjoy them as they are! Remake are just a way of satisfying capricious and dumb people and making money without having to think about anything. Hurray for the GB, and .... for the Switch!
20:48 I can't believe I just noticed this. This was before Ocarina of Time came out, right? So, this is basically the prototype of the Bigocto miniboss from Inside Lord Jabu-Jabu's Belly?
Links awakening started a lot of Zelda trends seen in proceeding games, such as fishing, and a long trade sequence for a great item! It’s why I love the game
I love compilations like this. I just finished playing the Switch remake, and had a pretty good time. Everything there is so beautiful, designed with so much care. When I watch these, I imagine the designers as children, playing Link's Awakening on their Gameboys, and their imaginations going wild. And then they grow up, and translate what it felt like into what we see on the switch today. I find it a testament to the quality of the original, that the designers were able to add so much detail with so much faith.
Loved watching this. completed both versions, but this really highlights just how good the remake is! Imagine showing this to 10 year old me!! Would love to see the Oracle and Minish Cap games like this!
the color dungeon boss in the switch version was hard to watch I kept yelling "JUST MOVE AROUND HIS PROJECTILES" especially after seeing them do it flawlessly in the gameboy version lmao
A great touch in the remake: Having the (mini)boss theme change instruments to fit each boss. Also works thematically in this case. And makes each one of them feel more distinct. Especially in combination with the new graphics and some unique SFX (like Rolling Bones at 0:33).
Shame they didn't make a few more tweaks to some fights since some of these were easy. At least Angler Fish can't be beaten in 5 seconds or less now in the Switch version. Facade was downgraded to a mini-boss with at least one other action in the Oracle games and it looks like they tried to adapt a little of that here. Turtle Rock's head got a nice upgrade... So did Hot Head ( a little lol) And glad they gave Dethl it's own theme :P
18:00 the goal is to hit it as fast as possible to keep it from heal it self. in this case, don´t wait for turning back to orange, hit it again, while it is red.
I loved how we got a chance to feel the game, how Nintendo intended for us to feel the full experience, because of the fact that technology wasn't as advanced as it is now we didn't get to see it as much as we would love to and we didn't care the original version was fire
A tip for the Moldorm boss. Use bow and arrow. Because his body has no hit detection meaning as long as you aim for the weakness point the arrow will fly right pass the body and hit the target.
The colour dungeon boss, when it said take your time I felt something was up but I still went to go hit a stalfos and as soon as I saw it start healing I knew to ignore them. And on more recent playthroughs you can literally just ignore them entirely if you want
I’ve realized that a few of the bosses are copy’s of others. Like Gohma, Moldorm, (possibly Vaati) and shadow agahnim. They are probably link’s nightmares. He remembers the evil that he has faced and the nightmares are copy’s of his memory’s. (I think the final phase of the final boss may be Vaati)
As for the *OOMPH*, hitting bosses feels much more satisfying in the original: The knockback in combination with the agressive boss wail SFX definitely wins (0:17). Link's hits in the remake always feel limp in comparison (0:39). I still love the boss death cry (4:37). To death.

The colour dungeon was optional and was included only in the gb colour version of the game - thus why its puzzles had to do with colour so they couldnt be realized in the initial black and white game boy release.

We even had to call Nintendo Assistance center to get some clues about the rooster, that's how noob I was. But I kept on going anyways, and soon enough I made my way to this game's beautiful ending. Such memories... Oh, hmm yeah, my point being : I beat the original when I was freaking six, without sword upgrade or any tunic. So keep your "bosses were harder back then", "they make games for noobs nowadays", or other h4rdcoreg@merz shenaningans for more relevant titles, please. My only complain with this remake is the fire rod. I liked that it was OP. I liked that I could burn everything with it, chickens and dogs included. I liked that I could skip the Eagle boss and come back later with the rod to 3 shots it. Sure made the end-game a lot easier but it was FUN.

They all seem way too easy either way
The nightmare ganon bit is also a lil harder. As seen here, in the original he can be hit while using the bats. In the remake he uses the trident to stop you, and the timing between his trident throws are more strict
Moldorm in the original: A centipede creature thing
Moldorm in the remake: H A M B U R G E R

Fun fact: The boomerang was extremely OP in the 2D version, so OP that it killed Deathl 1 hit even without the red mail.
Yeah i saw, one hit final form final battle
I wish they would’ve kept the “RAaaHHooOh” sound when you hit a hit a boss. I loved that sound effect.
Good god. When the Hardhit Beetle says to take your time, you're not supposed to do what he says.
To be fair, the original translation was confusing as hell because people thought it was some kind of rules to the fight.
