Hey TBE Family! We're excited to be back with another episode! Let us know what you think about the Sudirman Cup - Is China still the most dominating badminton country for many years to come? Or will Korea, Japan or another country take the number 1 spot in the future? Let us hear your thoughts below! 👀
Mia should not be receiving offensive messages full stop. However, her attitude was not respectful at all, Danish players do have a reputation of not controlling their emotions on court, Mia here, 2016 women's doubles olympics, this year Viktor smashing his racket in the middle of a match against Popov? Players should be modest and respectful, you're meant to be setting an example.
Hans since it's probably the last time you go on tour in asia circuits, why don't you held a fan meeting through out. I'm sure many fans want to greet you 😊
Just my 2-cent as I watched all the matches : 1. I think Goh's way of serving is just her personal choice/ style, just like some players who took ages to serve. Mia can be annoyed but that does not warrant her the right to behave rudely towards her opponent. 2. Ong and Teoh have admitted in the post-match's interview that the shuttlecock did hit Ong's shirt but because the rule is if the umpire does not say anything, the match must continue. And since it was already a match point, I think any player should play it and then raise it to the umpire after that. Even the Chinese Taipei pair (Yang) posted on FB that he made a mistake by not continue to play the point. 3. I agree that cyber-bullying is not cool. I am a true Badminton lover and yes I happen to be a Malaysian, but I would still think that it is unsportsmanlike of how Mia played even if she wasn't playing against player of my country. And as for Ong-Teoh, I personally think HK is being slightly biased: first, they admitted it and hence the fans do not have to tell that to them and second, I do not know how they can be "honest" with the umpire since it was already a match point (and hence they can't "give" back the next point), unless they stopped playing like Yang even when umpire did not fault them immediately.
Imagine typing so long justifying why mia was being rude one sidedly because just saying a short little ‘cyber bullying isn’t cool’ to protect ur own ppl lmao
@@jiminkim6725 I said what I said, and am standing by it. What I think of her is entirely my own opinion. I did not write / post / comment on her IG or on any social media other than this video, so if if you think I am being biased, is alright, at the end of the day, we don't know each other and therefore what you think of me is not important.
"Perfect." - Just about sums up this podcast. Glad to see the two of you together doing the show again and commenting on a number of recent topics in pro badminton. China's MD was phenomenal, facing several match points against Japan. They really came back from the dead and stepped up. Then they went on to display amazing physicality and willpower (with home country support) to squash any Korean hopes of lifting the Sudirman Cup. Was disappointed An Se Young did not start to play more aggressively against Chen Yu Fei, who was visibly gassed out. ASY was still trying to grind CYF to force a Game 3, but the problem was CYF got 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc. winds from all the support and was able to play past her physical limits to win the match. China definitely put all their heart and soul into their matches. You could see them wearing their pride proudly whenever their players won. Good that the spin serve is deemed illegal. Hopefully forever when another ruling is made. It's not good for the game, the players, or the spectators.
I think you can become a pro player even if you start later, like at 15. Its more difficult to be a top 50, top 20, top 10 player but its possible, you just need to put in the work and have insane dedication, 2-3 trainings daily and put everything into it. I've seen players go from beginer to the top player in my country even though he wasnt very skilled or talented but talent doesnt matter if you dont work harder than everyone else.
the withdrawals are obviously understandable but man, i really missed seeing anders (and his shenanigans) on court :( i hope you can be fully healthy for istora! just a topic suggestion: i don't think non-indonesians are aware of the crazy rise of ticket prices for the indonesian open this year... for finals the price is 1 million idr (about 62 euros/461 dkk), which is approximately 60 hrs of work for the average indonesian. people are outraged because that's double of the ticket prices before covid. i think it's quite sad that a sport associated with the 'regular people' are pricing out their main audience out of these events.
HK, do you consider making videos of Badminton 101 for dummies when you're retired and have more time? Like the crash course for the vocabulary, rules, or clips of matches to back your explanations. You're great at explaining. Please keep making videos with Anders as well.
Hey Anders, I really love the shirt yourself wearing. I didn’t found it on the internet. Could you maybe tell me where you got it or how I can get one 😅, wearing an Europe M size
Do the best training for your body, it's different for one and another. Depends on our body. Focus more on quality than quantity. Not everyone have athletic body with long durability and fast revovery. Just do it your way, what's the best for yourself guys. And i wish u guys comeback stronger!!
Badminton fans are really fragile for a small incident they give death threats & what not. There is so much more thats happens in tennis & thats fun to watch so tennis is way more popular than badminton.
There’s lots of Asian coaches in Europe. Both from Indonesia, China, Malaysia etc. There’s been Korean coaches here too. But I’m guessing the cultural difference in terms of how national team vs independence for players work play a significant part in why you don’t see it even more. It also takes a lot of money to get someone to move from one part of the world to another with or without their family. Basically no European badminton association is in a good place financially compared to our Asian counterparts.
Guys, its kind of wierd to see you sit like frogs all the time ... he he... with legs wide apart. I mean every time? Why? Great content and podcast BTW! Just its very distracting how you guys sit
Hello, I'm from Malaysia and I agree that some Malaysian fans are overreacting to the Mia situation. It's a normal part of the game for players to try to get into their opponents' heads. GJW did the same thing with her serve. Whatever happens on the court should stay on the court. Malaysian fans should not be overprotective and harassing towards other players.❤
While the harassing and death threats are wrong, there are a few issues Mia's behaviour has shown us. 1. The inconsistent umpiring - not even a warning for her? Behaving like a 4 year old throwing a tantrum throughout the match - are you serious? 2. It certainly feels like even in a sport dominated by Asian players, the white players get away with bad behavour. Serving as fast as possible is absolutely not the same as having a tantrum throughout the match so you've made a false comparison there.
Mia herself has not acknowledged her own bad behaviour neither has the BWF. When people feel injustice has been done and there are no frameworks in place to correct them, mob behaviour on social media is what you get.
The other thing worth considering is the hosts of this podcast themselves have not been immune to bad behaviour on court and would have a certain bias as well as hold certain privileges that makes them blind to the context of the situation. A white lady bullying an asian - it feels like we have seen this way too many times.
@@sunshinefromhell That is true. Mia's behavior was rude. I'm not entirely sure but in the podcast, they said she acknowledged her behavior. If anything BWF or the umpire should have warned her so I don't think there's any need to harass her online.
Mia tbh doesnt deserve slangs and misogynist comments. Thats very bad. You know Satwik Chirag gets 100 times more hate comments than Mia. Thats very wrong by any country fans
I think the Mia issue and ong/teo issue can't discussing together... Mia is her behaviour tht showing her unsportsmanship.. But ong/teo case is about the umpire x judge them due to close up the match....felt sorry for Chinese Taipei. Is x saying tht ong/teo didn't sportsmanship... If ong/teo speak up at tht time.... I'm pretty sure umpire x change his decision bcoz he x notice that... And umpire x call fault as well... So i think hans, u can't discuss Mia case and ong teo case together... Just my opinion... And Mia, feel sorry about tht u receive a lot of negative comments... As u guys all know, our country especially for Asia like Malaysia, Indonesia. Badminton is one of the famous sport in our country, so the netz definitely will overreacting something... So i hope u all just ignore the bad comments....
Please take your time with your recovery, Anders. It must take a toll on you to be doing the same things over and over again when you could be out there, but please remember that your fans are rooting for you to go back to your best form 💪 And for Hans-Kristian, it’s good to see you are going at it on the court, hope you’re enjoying yourself. And hey, it’s badminton, you can never guess the outcome of a match. Hope to see you guys in Indonesia! Cheers! 🍻
Mia blichfelt deserved the nasty comment because of her stinky behaviours in this social media era. This is unavoidable, you have to accept the stress.
You guys say that at 30 you're pretty much through as a player, yet we have novak djokovic that just broke the grand slam record at 36 years old. What makes badminton a young mans game more than tennis?
Badminton is a faster paced game and we do have legends such as lee chong wei and lindan who perform magic at such ages as well.... not common but not impossible
I remember the Korean men's singles Lee Yun Gyu has played in the Thomas cup 2022. He lost against Syabda Perkasa Belawa in the decisive match at the final group phase

Yes China most dominating
Japan can take top spot in few years
if South Korea manages to produce a great MS player, i think they will. Japan has all the material, not the consistency. let's see
@@inangshofihara927 Japan gave a tough fight to China and they were on the verge of winning but Hoki and Kobayashi 😢

Why are there no Chinese subtitles?
The question is ... what exactly is your injury Anders?
Didn't Shrikanth Kidambi or some other Indian MS player only start practicing at the national center at 18?
Why won’t peter Gade be in the hall of fame ?
Malaysia and Indonesia fans . You know like they think they own the Game of Badminton.
