Hey guys, I have gotten ALOT of questions about being a case manager. I want to do a sit down Q&A so ask me anything additional questions that you may have❤️
I just got an offer from the largest case management agency in my town this week, I’ve only worked with case managers before but had no idea what their daily work is like, your video definitely helped me understand the responsibilities of this role!
I start a new job as a Case Manager Tuesday and you helped prepare me for that! I am soo excited and it sounds like an extremely rewarding job knowing I get to help people.
I’m starting my first case manager job on Monday I’m soo excited and nervous at the same time. Thanks for this video I’m a lil more comfortable and motivated
I am being offered a case manager position and I am TERRIFIED. I want to help people but I am also wondering if the work-load is something I can handle. I would hate to fail people.
First, congratulations! But always remember you're not there to "save" people, you are there to do your job, if something doesn't get done, do it the next day. Give yourself GRACE. You will make mistakes, but use them as a learning experience. Be the best you can be, take breaks when needed and the rest will fall into place.
Hi Aniya, great job I just think you are so dedicated to the cause for these youth. Stay strong and motivated. Also, I started a Human Service degree and decided I fit better in Medical case management because I worked in Healthcare. God Bless❤❤
hi! i see an open position as a Case Manager near me working with the homeless population. i initially graduated in Recreational Therapy, but I do remember my old internship supervisor mentioning that Rec Therapist can also be Case Managers, so i’m trying to find out as much info. as i can! how are you liking it? how easy was it to learn about everything in order to help/refer your clients? i’m always nervous that i won’t be competent or won’t be able to catch on. it seems like a lot! no offense at all bc it does seem rewarding.
God bless you and thank you for being so kind to those who need it . Ive been feeling pulled to be an advocate / social worker or caseworker. Thanks for sharing , gives me a perspective and wanted to ask .Is your schedule stable or you work weekends ? Or late . Just curious
I have a bachelors degree in psychology. Most jobs ask for social work, psychology or another closely related field. I answer this in my CM Q&A, which can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/VCs3YCvX-7Q/v-deo.html
What steps do you take to house a person or what’s the grace period that it takes you or your program to house them.I’m currently working with the homeless population and it can be a challenge at times.
I’ve been working in ABA for so long and I’m looking for a meaning luck career change and this seems right up my alley. However, getting in the field has been a little hard. Can you give tips or suggestions on how to get the job?
I have a bachelors degree in psychology, most case managers have it in social work as well. But I am currently in school getting my masters. All job requirements are different though. Some you can work your way up with no experience
I have an interview on tuesday and im shitting myself. I feel so underqualified. I only have my associates in psychology. I am eager and passionate to learn though. Wish me luck guys!!!!! :v
Don't doubt yourself!! Hopefully you got the job! You have the skill set, you just have to know how to speak on it when you are interviewing and apply it to their job description.
I’m a new graduate and will be starting my new career as a family case manager in a couple weeks, I’m nervous! Overall, do you enjoy what you do? Could you give me one piece of advance for someone starting out in this field? Thank you💕
First, congratulations! I honestly underestimated the work but it becomes enjoyable once you being to build connections with your clients. I would just say communicate, communicate & set boundaries with your clients so you can maintain a good work life balance
Hey, I don't think there is a specific degree for case management but people that are case managers mostly have a human services degree like social work, psychology, etc.
(HOPEFULLY) I graduate next month,* I also am looking at Capella btw*. I've been looking at what jobs I can get when working on a masters- boom: case manager. What do you know about the type of CM that deals with people who "arent on probation/parole" but need to check up with a case manager? Thanks!
I praying you can graduate next month! I know how it is. My graduation has been pushed back THREE times unfortunately. But I am actually a CM that work with homeless youth. So not all CM positions are working with adults or people on probation. I am dropping two other CM videos this week and next week. I hope you subscribe and come back to check them out!
Hi I saw your latest video and you're in Baltimore like me! I just applied for a case manager position in Baltimore city at a youth facility I won't name. I work there already as YCP but I got my BA in psyc degree so I can finally do this job. Do you have any advice for Baltimore related cases? I know Baltimore city is a special case in itself.
Omg congratulations!!! Many of the youth facilities collaborate so hopefully we’ll run into each other. But my best advice is to make sure you’re trauma informed and know how to handle situations with individuals that have experienced some form of trauma. Also, allow the youth to have a voice. We believe in equal partnership and motivational interviewing to give youth an opportunity to be independent. I hope you get the job 🤞🏾
@@AniyaDanyea Thankkk you! That means alot to me. Yeah I'm very trauma informed and I treat them as independently as possible in these facilities while holding them accountable for things like chores and schooling and their "jobs". We make sure they speak up for themselves too.
@@AniyaDanyea I'm also sure we may stumble upon eachother too. Baltimore city facilities are all kinda connected. One doesn't work out in one RTC, they go to another and so forth.
@ Dorothy M.Brooke it Depends on your location I’m in Phoenix I was hired for substance abuse case manager without a degree I start Monday!! but I do have experience in behavior health
Thanks for watching! I do have a bachelors degree in psychology. However I know some people with no degree that worked their way up to this position. Some case manager positions ask for a masters in social work but it all depends

I saw that you graduated undergrad as a psychology major, I’m a psych major too! I am looking into becoming a case manager but I am worried about how prepared I will be as a psych major. Do you have any advice on that?
Hey psych major! Don’t be worried at all. We learn similar things social workers would so a lot of the information translates. However with every job there is a learning period and a lot of the things you’ll need to know, you will learn as you work. I wish you the best on your endeavors💕
