I have been an Employment Specialist Case Manager since 2006. It really has helped my self esteem. My 2 agencies placed me in multiple newspapers, internet articles, videos and on the radio. I helped my clients receive amazing careers and jobs they never thought they could do . I won 2 awards . The pay is low but wow! It raises my self esteem to become better every day. Some of the photos in the newspaper made me look fat.
@@AniyaDanyea The Amazon company is always looking for case managers at their fulfillment centers. The pay is typically $140,000 a year. They need case managers to keep their clients focused.
I was a care manager for 2 years and doing my MSW program now and doing my feild placement as a case manager in an all men's shelter. She's hitting all the strong points. Great video!
@@AniyaDanyea you was spot on and your expertise definitely shows! Another tip I would also just mention is having time to keep up with all the trainings our agencies require us to complete. It seems never-ending but if we have good time management we can keep up with the annual- trainings we always need to complete.
Hi, I see this is a yr old however I was working in a nursing home & also housing (Group homes) with special needs, disabled grownups & elderly individuals but now I soon will be transitioning working in a shelter as a cm, any advice? Thank you ladies
Thank you for your video, I start in June. No experience as a case manager yet . I'm graduating undergrad in May with a B.S. in Public Health. Hoping I can learn, and do my best to improve peoples lives long term.
I just started Case Management October 2nd, 2023. It is a handful. Only 1 day training believe it or not. Learning on the fly, but I am very organized and I always keep my numbers and resources. This video is very useful. Thanks.
I have to say this was very helpful information. Thank you so much babe for this. I want to become a case manager in social work. These tips are very important to know.
Hey guys, I have gotten ALOT of questions about being a case manager. I want to do a sit down Q&A so ask me anything additional questions that you may have❤️
I’m a sociology major that’s graduating in October and I would like to be a case manager, I found this video to be insightful and I would like to know what’s the application process like? And can I apply early knowing that I will have my BA a couple of months?
Thank you for watching and congratulations with graduating! I would go ahead and start applying now and put on your resume that you’re expected to graduate this fall. I use Indeed to find all of my jobs but of course check LinkedIn, but also check nonprofits in your local area.
I WISH I HAD A WORKER LIKE ThIS WOMEN, THE WORKER I HAD ONE THAT CAUSED ME SO MUCH GRIEF EVEN REPORTING HER DIDNT WORK, the ONLY REASON I FINALLY GOT A NEW WORKER IS SHE WENT TO DISABILITY.SHE HAD ME THINKING SUICIDE THOUGHTS HUMILIATED ME AND SO MUCH MORE BECAUSE I ASKED HER TO SPEAK TO ME RESPECTFULLY LIKE I SPOKE TO HER...
I definitely resonate with the code switching, it's like a super power! I currently work in Psych within the nursing department as a medical assistant, and I will be starting my second job as a case manager soon. Working with populations battling drug use, homelessness, and various obstacles. Ive always found it more effective to be myself around the patients. Because a lot of the time when they are in mental crisis, I have noticed they are a lot less receptive to " a robot" as ive been told by a client lol, and more receptive to a regular everyday person. Of course every client is not the same, that's when the code switch comes into play. So I appreciate you mentioning this.
a case manger named Maria T. Wallece sent the police to my familys house ,to kick in her doors because she said she wants to be left alone .my aunt never talked or had any deals with this woman until she talk to the police .the owner of the house wants to evict my aunt what can she do?
Okay I need your help!! So I’m graduating soon from an MFT program and I’m job searching right now. One of the companies that has reached out to me is a wellness center looking for a family case manager. They know that I would be am associate MFT but my concern is that I don’t know roughly how many hours I can count towards licensure as a case manager. Knowing what it’s like being a case manager do you think this would be a good fit for a future MFT to get more experience and be more well rounded ? What questions should I ask for my follow up interview? Thank you!!!
Sorry I am just seeing this but if you haven't already, I think this would be a great opportunity to take advantage of! It gives you so much hands on experience and transferable skills like being organized and note taking. What did you end up doing?
@@AniyaDanyea No worries! I get lost with all these UA-cam notifications too! Haha Yeah my main reason for wanting to take the case manager position was because I knew it would force me to develop skills that I may not get as much exposure to in other settings. But I ultimately went with an unlicensed therapist position with the same company. The offer was too good to pass up on and it will help me get licensed faster.
I didn’t , my clients were young adults and we built a rapport over the phone after their initial intake (in person at the office) before meeting in their home. During intake we’d asses the client with my programs homeless youth assessment tool to know more about their background
I’m new to care management as an LPN.. I find it a bit difficult to find tips and education.. I notice I do a lot of listening! I want to offer more help but I only have a 5-10min window to see them.. specific to an OBOT Program
😅you have a lot of good information. You know the stuff. I just wish you could slow down alittle bit. You are trying to pass very informative info it is vital you consider your audience.
Can you please provide me some of the most important interview questions that they might ask for a case manager position and how to answer them to succeed?
Do you have experience doing Waiver or Disability Waiver case management services, I am currently looking for a job and came across this, however, I have no idea what providing Waiver intakes is; any info would be much appreciated.
Hey, thanks for watching! I do have experience with waivers. I am currently in the middle of recording a case manager Q&A so I can definitely talk about this! What state are you in ?
Yes! I struggled at first with that but utilizing my own coping skills, having a therapist and going to God has helped me tremendously. Also shifted my mindset to not trying to "save" all my clients/students to only focusing on doing my job and thats teaching them ways to improve their mental health.
I’ve been working as a case manager now since September and the code switching (+ professionalism) girl??? I was trying to make others I work with understand this and they just don’t get it. I also think growing up black is what makes that easier for some us, and these white older ladies just aren’t getting it 🤣🤣🤣 but yes girl this video is 10000% the truth. Keep it up!!
Doesn't everyone code switch tho no matter their race? I mean I'm sure white folks aren't talking to their friends and family the same way they talk to their boss for example lol. I get that it might not be as drastic of a switch for them but still.
Just a small piece of feedback (that you didn’t ask for 😅) - you are speaking very fast!! Great information, but hard to digest at this speed, that’s all. Maybe I’m just listening too slow!! ☮️

In construction here in Georgia it was mostly “stale pale males” like me 😝 Peace & blessings, you gained a new viewer today ✌🏼
I goto a place for OCD mental health but all they do is give medication from the Dr or nurse practitioner. The case manager is so hit or miss I have had one read me off some code that they are legally allowed to visit my house when I was simply trying to have a conversation and tell him that I left them a message but since they don't check them it makes their assumptions make them look like assholes but they do not care and become disrespectful and hang up the phone type behavior. Obviously I won't speak to that person ever again he's half my age and even after like he'd be willing to have an altercation with me. A lot of places for mental health are broken and the staff is in dire need of mental health support instead of trying to control and overpower people who have come there on their own for some help with no court orders or anything just from willingness of their own.
Is there a such career as a case manager for sexual assault women only what degree do I need n how long or domestic violence women shelters victims? What type of degree do I need and other skills
Yes there is! I think you can do it with a just a Bachelors in Psych or Social work in some states but since that is a sensitive population, some jobs may require a Masters.
