    You should wait for the powder to settle for a couple minutes before opening the grinder, this way you'll avoid to breathe the powder and spill it over any surface.

    The colors you mentioned would work fir a lot of folks, but theres a certain point where if someone is any darker, they may need to add brown iron oxide or even black iron oxide.
    Edit: I spoke too soon! You mentioned this toward the end. Sorry. ❤

    The foundation that was too dark for you would probably work well for me. HOORAY! I feel its easier to make a color lighter then make it darker as one needs to add different colors. Thank you for your video. I love it!

    Do you have an SPF 50 formulation guide??? I am looking to do my own mineral foundation with spf 50 :) I want to not have the white cast, be able to dust it over my arms to hide the white of my mineral sunblock lotion and I will be tossing in some mica ect to give some glow

    Hi! Love your channel. What if I want to make an SPF 50 version of this? Is there a recipe for that? Thanks in advance.

    • @allaorganics2365
      @allaorganics2365  6 років тому +3

      Hi Lori :) Thanks you very much, I'm glad you like my channel.
      Making an SPF 50 with a powder is almost impossible, unfortunately, I would say, but you can certainly do it with a creamy foundation. The reason is that a powder will never be dense enough to cover up every single millimetre of your skin completely. Or if it did, it would be extremely cakey.
      So the simplest thing to do would be to mix the mineral powder foundation you've made, with an SPF 50 cream, that's natural and suitable for your face skin.
      Or, alternatively, you can add zinc oxide to your favourite face cream, to make it an SPF 50, and then add some mineral powder foundation, so you'll obtain an SPF 50 creamy foundation.
      I hope this is all clear for you.

      Alla Organics Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! Fascinated by both options. I will definitely play around with these ideas. I have many sunscreen allergies and I’m looking to simplify what sunblock goes on my face!

    Is the yellow oxide for all skin types or can you use cocoa powder instead? Also can i use food grade zinc oxide? Thanks!

    • @allaorganics2365
      @allaorganics2365  7 років тому +4

      Yes, yellow Iron oxide is for all skin types. You should use it especially if your foundation comes out gray.
      Yes, you can use cocoa powder.
      Yes, you can use food grade zinc oxide, as long as it's "NON-NANO". This is really important.

    Some people are adding mica powder(plain) and titanium dioxide. Can you clarify why you haven't added them. Thanks!

    • @allaorganics2365
      @allaorganics2365  6 років тому +2

      I haven't added them to make it simpler and more cost effective to make. There's no reason why you shouldn't add them though.

    Is the zinc required can you substitute for anything else like white clay? The zinc makes me look grey.

    • @allaorganics2365
      @allaorganics2365  7 років тому

      Hi, I wouldn't recommend using clay as a substitute, since clay is highly absorbing and the resulting foundation will be too cakey to use. I would only recommend to use clay in small amounts.
      Also, if you add enough yellow Iron Oxide your foundation will look anything but grey.

    • @cdefoor125
      @cdefoor125 5 років тому

      Use titanium oxide instead of the zinc. Titanium is considered a white pigment and will keep it from looking gray.

    Hey guys, not trying to me mean or anything - but I tried this and it broke me out so much :(Please do a patch test on your skin before trying this

    • @allaorganics2365
      @allaorganics2365  6 років тому +4

      Simron Virdi That's a very good point. Of course, some people may have a more sensitive skin, so it's better to try it on a small patch first to check if it's ok for you.

    Does anyone know the answer to this question? I am trying to make a very "strict" mineral-only powder. I know the main ingredients, but can arrow-root be considered as a mineral-only ingredient when making a strict mineral facial powder?

    • @allaorganics2365
      @allaorganics2365  7 років тому +2

      Arrow-root comes from a plant, so it cannot be considered a mineral unfortunately.

      One last question, actually, do you know if you can successfully mix pure mineral powder with a mixing medium for airbrushing? Because all I've been getting are clogs.

    • @allaorganics2365
      @allaorganics2365  7 років тому +1
