      I think you can make a powder foundation more opaque by adding more titanium dioxide.

    I have always been thought that I need to grind most of the ingrediands, I know the shimmer powders shouldn't be ground, but things like red oxide would be streaky if I made blush or something like your doing??? are your ingredients pre ground or something?

    With the finished product, can you put it in a palette pan?

    Hi, I have a question about the pigments you used. I have bought a DIY mineral makeup kit that comes with all the powders and colors and micas I need. I find that the pigments, the oxides and ultramarines have a smell to them (other powders don't have this smell). And when I make my own foundations and stuff, I can smell it in the final product. Is this normal with pigments?

    do you need to get both titanium dioxide and zinc oxide? what if i just have zinc and kaolin clay? i also feel that i may be allergic to mica so is it okay that i leave that out?

    With what or how did you make that satiny white powder you swatched in your hand?

    • @TheJournalDistrict
      @TheJournalDistrict  9 років тому +3

      The white powder I swatched on my hand at 0:45 is Zinc Oxide. The powder at 1:03 is Sericite Mica. The shimmery white powder at 2:30 is Mica in a silver color. I purchased my ingredients from www.saffireblue.ca/shop/?sort=0 and www.newdirectionsaromatics.com/

    I can feel a new obsession coming on lol! I've been making my own skin, body and home care products for years. And dabbled with arrowroot/cocoa powder DIY makeup. Buying minerals is a game changer! I have 2 questions: Can I just use zinc oxide and no titanium dioxide in my base? I've heard disturbing info about titanium dioxide. Also, which colors are matte? Are they called dioxides and micas are shimmery? Thanks so much! I loved loved loved this video!!

      I would like to know this too but it looks like this hasn't been answered for 2 years now. Have you found anything out anywhere else?

      try non-nano zinc oxide and silica microspheres to replace both zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, I hope it helps.
      Cheers~

    Does the oxides have to be cosmetic grade?

    I wish you would have answered some of the questions in the comments section. A lot of us would appreciate it! I know this isn't a new video but can I make my base just mica powder, zinc, and oxides? Is the clay necessary here? And for a golden medium undertone, which oxides would fit with the base rather than getting all oxides.
    I hope to hear from you,
    Thank you.

      You can absolutely try to make your own mixture and see how it turns out~. I wouldn't skip on getting multiple oxide colors, since they aren't that pricey and even by purchasing a small amount it will go a long way for you.
