I definitely MISPLACED and arrow key within my 90 days thank goodness most supervisors like me so they helped me find it without yelling at me. It was within the station though so that helped that it wasn’t out on the street 🤦🏾♀️

Bro, I've been working for 5 months as a CCA, and to tell the truth, I really don't like it, If you're married probably your wife is gonna cheat on you, and your kids are gonna take a distance from you, you're gonna be a stranger at your home, and if you are single you won't have enough time to engage with somebody. There are certain things that don't have a price, like your freedom and your family. I don't see myself doing this for the next years.

We've got a union hall and when I was a CCA I should have gone there to get shirts, slacks, jackets, etc. They keep stuff like that to give to the CCAs (as long as you're a union member). That way you can buy rain gear with your first allotment (rain gear is expensive and will eat up most of an allotment). Rain gear helps in the Midwest even if it's not raining, but it is cold and windy. The union hall generally won't give those items to regular carriers unless your house burns down or something. If you're new it doesn't hurt to ask the uniform reps who come in to the station if they have free items to give. Once I got a pair of new winter slacks that way and it would have cost me about $75 on my allotment.
So I’m in my 90 days…Today, I forgot I had the arrow key on my belt loop and my supervisor and coworker called me after I left to go home- thank God they called me when they did. I turned around and gave it back to my supervisor. they didn’t yell and were actually understanding)
While my Post Office has a lightly worn box of uniforms, they are all to small or one set of shorts is too large due to the smaller size of the office. Most of the vendors will not deal with an individual attempting to buy uniforms without an Authorization Letter, and while taking advantage of the first 90 may be a plus for some, sticking out like a sore thumb is not who I am as an individual. Thoughts?
I mentioned to Jay H, issues with the feet. I told him that no one is speaking to carriers about the best footwear and the best insole. Taking care of the feet and the hands are very important. The shoes in the uniform brochure are not the best shoes and they don't have the best insult. The gloves that we purchased from that same uniform book weirs and tears easily. If you go to Jay H channel you will see him doing the video on what I requested but because he's not a carrier or mail handler he may not be exactly certain the best footwear. Carriers are not allowed to wear steel toe shoes.

@@CalUsviFl Jay H videos are really really good however he is not a carrier or a mail handler so he doesn't know to what extent our jobs entail in terms of standing, walking climbing or sometimes running, as well as handling mail in terms of boxing up tying down and pulling down. Our shoulders are fingers our thumbs our knees and our feet, has to be taken care of properly and a lot of carriers as well as cca's they don't know. I did not know I ordered using my card from the brochure (salesperson Peter).
I buy from Marty Grace, the light blue shirts are not easy to clean they're not staying resistant and I hate them. Those postal shirts are extremely hard to keep clean and after a while they look raggedy and they're very pricey. What would you recommend. I personally purchase the postal tags and I buy my own shirts and I have the postal tags sewn on to the shirts. I am a regular but I do not like those shirts that we buy out of that postal brochure.
What do you put on the Satchel strap that goes over your shoulder to make it softer to wear so it won't be so constricted to your shoulder, can you elaborate a little bit thank you

Or is this incorrect and you must ask for the paperwork from your supervisor in do it in person?.. I believe to resign under good terms you just go through your supervisors and post master. I've never heard of resignation under liteblue but I could be wrong. I know jobs that work out better for the whole family is a good thing, wish you would reconsider but definitely best of luck.
Even longer. You can wear whatever you want until you get your uniform voucher. That's why I encourage people (especially women) to take advantage of this time because you can wear comfortable yoga pants or whatever you want and the other women are hating lol. But in a serious note definitely don't rush to get uniforms until your supervisor gives you the uniform voucher.

When you finally get to your office you'll gradually learn the routes in your office. You'll usually gps your first stop on the route and then follow the mail.

Is it normal to go from offer phase ext back to prehire list on the app status? I went to my on boarding session Friday and my fingerprints are scheduled for tomorrow so what does this mean ?
Good question. I've seen some RCA's where the uniforms and some not. The reason for not wearing uniforms are because they get paid a flat salary and sometimes work from their own vehicles. They will get paid the exact same if they do their route in 4 hours or if they do it in 12 hours, it's all the same. Meanwhile regular carriers and CCA's will get paid overtime and double time for going over 8 hrs and 10 hours in 1 day. Does that make sense?
Just passed my 90 / 120 days....Do you get the uniform allowance cards sent to you in the mail or does it come to your office or do you have to ask your supervisor to order one?
Congratulations on making it. CCAs don't get a card but you do get a uniform paper slip saying how much you get and that's the paper you give to the place you order your uniform from. If you don't stay on your supervisors about it thoughthey'll drag their feet giving it to you.
You can change position any time you want, you'll just have to apply for it. If you're in good standing with the supervisors and post master they might help you in your way if you tell them what you want to do.
Hey Mike, quick question. I was looking through the pay chart and I saw that the hourly basic rate for part time flexible employees is higher than full time regular employees; why is that the case?
I know PTF's can make more than a regular but there's certain stipulations and variables that go into that. As a carrier, to see a PTF carrier nowadays it's few and far between. I know it's a little more common around mail handlers, but I would say if you did see a PTF out there they are getting paid more than someone who JUST MADE regular.

In short, it's contractual differences mainly, for example, PTF's aren't guaranteed a yearly salary so pay can very, PTF's also don't get paid on holidays if they don't work on them and if they do they get 50% more than a regular. Things like that.
Mike, I am in Florida too! Yes, 60s are cold! How much walking do you do as a CCA? Are you mostly in a vehicle and walking up to doors when you have parcels, or do you have routes where you strictly walk? I ask because I don't see a lot of carriers walking and I've lived in Central Florida all of my life, although I'm sure they are out there.
Thanks for watching Lori! Me, unfortunately have the only walking route in my office lol. Only about 3 miles a day so it's nothing compared to the Orlando area. A lot of Florida is just driving but certain offices have a mixture of walking and driving. Some walk house to house and then drive the packages after. You may get really lucky and in your area be strictly curbside driving.

Thank you so much for that i really appreciate you saying that. Short answer is yes CCA's do get benefits. Long answer is not in the same sense as a career employee. New hires have the ability within 60 days off being hired to select and contribute to the Federal Employees Health Benefits program where in the first year you select the program that you want and the Postal Service will contribute 65 percent of the premium for you and then you'll cover the rest which I hear equals out to the same monthly payment normally made by a career employee. You can select either self, self plus one, or family and once you get to your second year the postal service will contribute 75 percent of your premium until you make career employee. It's way better then when I started because I didn't have any of that.

Always have a reserved pair of shoes and socks in the truck. Walking a long distance with wet feet is one of your biggest enemies.

You can buy at any major store a pad that velcros around the seat belt. You can definitely find them at auto part stores.
I just accepted a offer for rca that mean I only get pay a flat rate don't get overtime I'm from south florida . All rca are the same way .

It's normally given to you when you get to your post office, some offices do not give them to you though.
Do you have to learn routes or do they teach you that in the cca acadamy or do you use a gps? how does that all work?
